Japan Trip Day 13: The Ghibli Museum

Why hello. My body has decided that sleep is the enemy. My plan now is just to stay awake until at least 10pm tonight. No naps. Must work all day and pass out afterwards. This is the plan.

So before work I am going to try to post one more day of our Japan trip. XD Let's see if I can pull this off without being late. Gotta keep my job you know.

Photobucket

All the way up to the museum were these cute little signs. No getting lost on this day. XD

For day 13 we made our way to the Ghibli Museum. It is located about 20 minutes from Shinjuku station so it doesn't take forever to get there. The walk to the museum is about 15 minutes and there are no stairs to conquer which is awesome. XD Please enjoy this blog post.

The station doesn't want you to get lost either.

Seriously folks it is impossible to get lost getting to this museum. Leave the map at home so you have more room for holding souvenirs.

We have reached our destination!

Now the Ghibli Museum is a small little place dedicated to the art of Studio Ghibli. Most of the art inside the museum is dedicated to My Friend Totoro. But there are a lot of other works featured in the museum. That one is just the most prominent. So if you love My Friend Totoro you will love this museum.

Photobucket

This map was a little...loved.

View from the outside.

Now.....since we have been in Japan most buildings have been major no nos in taking pictures inside. This museum is no exception. So I am sad to report that there are no pictures from the beautiful inside of the museum. That makes me sad but we knew the rules before we even left for Japan. We tried to take as many pictures from the outside as possible though.

Photobucket

It really doesn't look like a museum from the outside so don't accidentally walk by it. XD

If you are interested in going to the Ghibli Museum please purchase your tickets ahead of time. All tickets must be ordered ahead of time but there are special rules for purchasing the tickets overseas. Wouldn't want you to miss out on this museum.

Photobucket

Tiny little soot balls everywhere. XD

Photobucket

My what big teeth you have. XD

Photobucket

The grass threatens to take over the entire building!

Photobucket

This museum seems to be like a maze but it is really easy to navigate.

Photobucket

XO So huge.

At the top of the museum was a huge picture taking opportunity. A bit of a line to take your picture with this giant robot. But at least there was an actual line and not a mass of people. And we were allowed to take pictures so WOOHOO!!!

Photobucket

Did the robot come in the box?

Photobucket

Not quite sure what this was either but we were allowed to take pictures of it too. And it made noise.

Photobucket

Down the birdcage we go XD

Photobucket

Such a cute way to wash your hands. XD

Photobucket

Time for noms.

The cafe area takes up a big chunk of the museum. Which is a good thing because it helps get rid of the congestion that might otherwise be in the hallways.

Photobucket

Trying to take as many pictures as possible.

There were two places to eat at the museum. One was the cafe and the other was a tiny hotdog like stand. There was a wait for the cafe but if you are not a picky eater it was worth the wait. XD Please be aware that their HOTDOGS are not HOTDOGS. They are the sausages one would get with their morning breakfast.

Photobucket

Some museums and events in Japan have very limited hours so make sure you get up early so you don't miss out.

Photobucket

Menu for the other place.

Photobucket

This place was so accommodating they raced to get us an English menu. So very nice.

Photobucket

Trying to be a ninja.

I thought I was going to be able to take pictures inside the restaurant but that was a no no. I took this one when no one was looking because I am a ninja. A lot of my ninja pictures are really special.

Photobucket

Cute picture of our plate. XD All meals came with a little flag too.

Photobucket

Soot balls are not for eating!!!!

Photobucket

Hugs for everyone!!!

Photobucket

Now I didn't recognize everything in the museum but I still thought everything was pretty cool.

Photobucket

I don't recognize this building but we were allowed to take pictures of it so I was like WOOHOO!!!

Photobucket

I really loved this picture. Like a glimpse into another world.

Photobucket

Mascots for everyone!

Photobucket

Main shopping area around the Ghibli Museum.

Photobucket

Celebrate little piggies!

After the museum we spent a little time exploring the area and headed back to the hotel. There is a park nearby but it was more for actual use than a picture taking opportunity.

Thank you for stopping by to read this post. Hopefully after work I can get more up. Now on to work!!!
