So many tears.
Episode Summary: Satoru and Saki are forced to find another group as they were ordered into their original 5 and they are two. They meet up with a group of three. Coward Man, Cocky Man, and Crying Lady. One of their members has been killed in the QueerRat attacks and another has been taken to the hospital. The Crying Lady is pretty much useless at this point as she worries about the member at the hospital so this new group takes to the water to explore the area near the hospital. Satoru takes this time to talk to Saki about things from their past like no one else is listening. Of course the other group is and they explain how they know the ringleader of the QueerRats. Satoru questions how this is all going on as he saw a different group of QueerRats, the ones that should not be linked to Yakomaru. Why would he risk such an attack? Coward Man and Cocky Man talk about how the QueerRats have no chance of winning but that tune gets taken down a notch when they see a massive hole in the hospital's front door. Crying Woman cries while Cocky Man is like LETS DO THIS I AIN'T GOT TIME TO BLEED! He goes into the hospital when Satoru is like everyone stop moving. They realize the entire marsh is covered in QueerRats and one false move will either kill them or Cocky Man. They turn around and attack all at once, catching the grass on fire and ripping them to shreds. They kill all the QueerRats and Crying Woman vomits in the grass. Satoru says they must go rescue Cocky Man. Coward Man wants to blow up the hospital in case there are more QueerRats in there and Crying Woman points out that two of their friends are in the building now. Satoru walks up to the hole and Saki calls him back, saying they need to go back to town and get more people. Satoru seems to be down with that idea until they see a light that can only be lit with their powers. Satoru and Saki are okay with going into the hospital while Coward Man doesn't want to do anything at all.

I don't think this will help anyone but okay.
Crying Woman gets fend up and goes with Saki and Satoru while Cocky man stays behind to guard the boat. They enter the hospital and come across this weird...orb thing. QueerRats attack again and they manage to kill them all. Cocky Man is found nearby dead. The team moves on until they find the room with the light. 3 hospital staff are strung up in cocoons. The doctor recovers pretty fast, the nurse (as we already have a Crying Woman but I don't want to be sexist with gender roles and such) is a mess, and the orderly loses his mind and runs out of the room. The doctor keeps saying eff the QueerRats we need to run from him. HIM! They make their way through the hospital where they learn everyone else in the hospital has been killed. They make it to the front door in time to see HIM set the orderly on fire and kill Coward Man who came to the orderly's aid. They decide to go out the backdoor where everyone talks about how this is Fiend but don't actually say it. They make it to the door where the doctor says that they need to split up because they are all going to die anyway and their chances are better this way. Satoru says numbers are important but the doctor runs off. The remaining 4 plan on going in the opposite direction when Saki notices HIM is around the corner. They make it back into the hospital as HIM kills the doctor. They double back to the front door but by that time the nurse has lost her mind and won't leave. Crying Woman says she will stay behind and to send them back help. Satoru is like time to think about the numbers and the rest of the village and takes Saki with him. They lay flat in a boat thinking about how Yakomaru was clearly using this Fiend and no wonder the war went his way. Satoru then tells Saki the Fiend has followed them in the second boat and THE END!

Saki has such a way with words...
X___X There are 6 more episodes left of this show folks. I have to admit it isn't ALL horrible but the way things are going is there going to be enough material left for 6 more episodes? Unless it is like this episode and stretches out the horror. Not much happened in this episode story wise. Mainly MOG and Oppies you are dead.

We don't need any names, we are lighting things on fire.
Do you like the names of the people we met in this episode? I mean I COULD go back and write down their correct names...but that would mean I would have to actually pay attention. XD And not be lazy. And I like their names. It was like this episode was a little story about these three characters and I thought it played out well. We probably won't see Crying Woman again but I feel as if I know a great deal about her and the other two.

So many people making bad decisions weeee!
All we really know about in this series is what Saki has told us. Her world and her team. But there were many other teams before her and with her and after her. And most of these teams had no idea what was going on when they were kids. So when one or two got taken out during their time in school it was forgotten about as Saki's group was experimented on. This group made it through school with all 5 members intact. So that means no one was amazing thus in danger and no one sucked thus killed. All ordinary about these people.

Maybe his eyes were broken because...things weren't going that great right now.
Cocky Man had a lot to say, almost like he wanted to challenge Satoru for leadership. But Coward Man was the actual “leader” of the group. Sorta like how Shun was the default leader but Satoru ended up having a lot of good ideas himself. Cocky Man underestimated the QueerRats and raced towards the hospital without thinking things through. If an entire hospital got taken out why do you think you can go in there alone and things would end well? HMMM!

Wait danger? I think we need to hold off on that.
Coward Man started off talking a big game but in the end he was probably the most scared. Look at me, I fear nothing and all will be well. Um how about I stay back and guard the boat? Which by the way was dumb. They really should have all gone in the hospital or two stay in the boat. But when things got bad he was quick to turn on his friends that were still trapped in the building (or at least to their knowledge) to think of himself. There was a moment at the end where he tried to save someone else but still I think at that point he HAD to try to save the orderly. He put off helping the others but he could but if he ignored the orderly there would have been no way he could have gone back to the village. Now if his story is told he won't be a coward.

Being strong because Saki couldn't.
Crying Woman changed the most in the episode. It reminds me of another movie, with the crying baby character ended up being the strongest person in the end. I can't place it though. I am sure there are tons of examples in many mediums but there is one in particular that is in my head. Anyway Crying Woman had every reason in the world to fall apart. One friend dead, one in the hospital, and creatures she was taught to think of as little nothing are all around blasting people to death. I would be crying too folks. She probably knows now of the truth about dead kids but never has experienced the horror like Saki has of dead bodies. So killing the QueerRats was a big deal to her. But still she values the lives of her friend and a mad woman enough to risk her own life. She will probably meet the same fate as the rest of her team but she tried. She swallowed her tears and with shaky legs tried to do the right thing despite the madness. I mean...that is the correct thinking. If your life is in danger NO MATTER WHAT you should try and help instead of hiding waiting to die right?

More victims I suppose.
All of that being said I think the show was slightly lazy to have things take place at a hospital. When the last Fiend rolled around there was a dramatic hospital scene and Granny was the only survivor of that hot mess. HMMMM who has Saki been compared to in the later part of this series? Oh I see. I guess the only more dramatic place to have this take place was in a nursery but hey the village already kills kids anyway. The most vulnerable people at this point are the injured so I guess that makes sense why the hospital was shown.

Good job keeping this a secret.
Is there a reason why Satoru was talking to Saki about their old pal Yakomaru in front of these other people? I was like um Satoru maybe you should be whispering. Not everyone is like Granny and wants to keep you guys alive for the next generation of leaders. These people are scared and suspicious. You know the QueerRat behind all this death? Not something you need to be announcing. Saki and Satoru know more about the situation than anyone else combined so it was pretty useless talking about it with these strangers.

Lets go save them because our track record is so awesome.
Satoru and Saki were equally brave in the whole squishing the QueerRats and entering the hospital. Satoru saw what happened to the first guy (or what they assumed) but was still willing to go in there and save people. Saki was different from Coward Man as she wanted to protect Satoru, not just herself. She wanted to save the most people by protecting the most people. Granny has taught her that important concept. She doesn't need to lose any more friends at this point.

Something so horrible that saying it out loud would make the situation worse.
I usually get pissed when people skirt around the issue at hand. Like say what is going on instead of circling around. However since the doctor was just tied up and watched a bunch of people die maybe I can give him a break. Plus I think it is a taboo word. Like didn't you learn about this in school?! Don't make me repeat it!!! Due to my learnings from The Happening it is hard to fault the doctor for wanting to split up. Turns out he was right....just not in his favor.

HMMMM and guess what?
Saki and Satoru end the episode like they started off. Alone. They are starting to piece the puzzle together and I am not sure if they realize it NOW or will by next episode. But a person no one knows is running around killing people. They have been conditioned to not hurt each other, other humans. So...how could a human be doing this? Why if they never got that conditioning at all? AKA Maria's kid.
Photobucket
Your whole life?
Now I guess the real mystery is....is Maria still alive. I am just going to assume that Mamoru is dead because I don't think he would want to attack the village even if they tried to kill him. But if Mamoru died AND Maria was separated from her love Saki I can see her raising a kid with some anger in her heart. Or those really were Maria and Mamoru's bones, after she gave birth to his baby (you know, the comfort sexies). Either way Saki will be spared as she is in her 40's. But how many more people will die because of Maria? You know, after they tried to kill all of them!
