Another day another round of meds and tissues for me. However I did have enough energy to clean a few closets today. Hopefully I have rounded up enough stuff for the Happy Super Fun Sale thingy thing at AWA. If they still have tables left…
Putting that all aside it is time for Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitte Iru and their emo boys. This week there is a lot of angst and cute flashbacks. Not much in terms of action but I guess I can hope that we are in for a second season (ignoring of course everyone talking about the final battle…)
So yes. Beware of emo Kuroto and clueless Senshirou. Also apparently no one cares about Yuki.
Episode Summary: Yuki learns that Luka was attacked by a super Duras and is all XO. But Takashiro has decided Yuki can’t leave the compound so Yuki is sad he can’t see Luka. Takashiro also sends for Hotsuma and Shuusei. Toko and Tsukumo are all like dude this might be in and Luka says nothing because Luka is good at saying nothing. Yuki is off thinking about Luka when Kuroto comes up and says spend time with me now. Kuroto wants to play shogi with Yuki and tell him his life story. Well really Kuroto starts by saying he understands why Yuki is so close to Luka and that he doesn’t hate Luka. Then the life story happens. Kuroto comes to live with Senshirou and his grandfather (and Senshirou’s fiancée whom the name escapes me). Kuroto was SO HAPPY to live with this new family and he let it be known. It’s a dojo type place and during practice one day Senshirou accidentally breaks the chain that holds Kuroto’s old partners ring. He/she is dead and Kuroto is all upset about that.
Later Grandfather is like don’t let the past consume you blah blah and let’s play shogi. Kuroto tries to be stubborn and do everything on his own still but over time he comes to accept his new family. Kuroto becomes a shogi champion and they throw a party for him. Kuroto pretends not to be happy but he is still a little uncomfortable being called grandson. After the party Kuroto takes Senshirou to his secret spot in the woods and they make love. Only that probably didn’t happen but they do become closer. Kuroto has a nightmare about his past life with losing his partner to a red hair Duras. Senshirou runs in and says the place is under attack and takes Kuroto to a secret place. Senshirou says the enemy is a high level red hair Duras and Kuroto is like REVENGE TIME! Only Grandfather comes and puts a spell on the door so Kuroto can be protected. Very upsetting times for all. The red hair dude comes and kills everyone including grandfather. Takashiro and Luka come and banish the rd hair dude to some place. But there is much boo hooing over the dead Grandfather.
Kuroto decides he is going to leave the house because all that lives around him death and he couldn’t bear it if Senshirou died. Only Senshirou is like NO I want to be your partner and be with you forever. Kuroto (in the present) explains that Senshirou went through a very painful process to become a Guardian and because of all the suffering he has caused that is why Kuroto stopped playing shogi. He doesn’t deserve happiness. But Yuki smiles and says that playing shogi with Kuroto is fun which makes Kuroto rethink he NEVER AGAIN THE FUN TIMES. Elsewhere Senshirou is thinking about Kuroto and his ex fiancée thinks about how the two boys make a better pair. Everyone seems happy which means the red hair dude Duras needs to make an appearance and declare it is revenge time. THE END!
XO See! I promised you an emo episode. It couldn’t have gotten more dramatic than that. Well I guess if Kuroto’s old partner was in love with Kuroto and that was shown. But since it wasn’t I think this episode really was as theatrical as possible.
Of course I am sad that Luka didn’t get any love. Yuki was oh Luka got attacked….and that was that. Okay maybe that isn’t fair. The entire conversation into the past was because Kuroto was commenting that Luka and Yuki belong together. So yeah I guess Luka wasn’t totally forgotten on the side of the road like a blown tire. Just that he was attacked by some super baddie and I thought Yuki would go out of his way to make sure his Luka was okay.
But since we are overdue for a Kuroto and Senshirou back story Luka will have to wait. Keep him company Tsukumo and Toko. Because apparently keeping all the strong people together in the same mansion doesn’t make sense. If Takashiro is the head dude of the family he should be able to say everyone accept Luka now or else. OR ELSE!
Speaking of things that don’t make sense..so why did Kuroto go to live with Senshirou and Grandfather? Because if Kuroto is a Guardian shouldn’t he be living in the Twilight Mansion with the other Guardians? Or is that only for Guardians who have a pair? In any event I don’t think leaving Kuroto with normal humans was a wise idea Takashiro. Maybe the plan all along was to make Kuroto and Senshirou partners but still. I think that kid should have lived in the Twilight Mansion all along. Then the kid wouldn’t feel so guilty about what happened.
Of course baby Kuroto was all I HATE YOU at first. Because if he wasn’t I would die from shock and we can’t be having that people. I guess that if I was being sent to live with another family I wouldn’t be a happy camper either. We weren’t told why Kuroto was parentless but let’s just assume it was some awful so Kuroto can have a more tragic back story. Senshirou and his Grandfather was all let’s be family so Kuroto had to be unhappy about it.
I do wish we got more info about this dead partner. Hotsuma and Shuusei got a lot of back story and angst so it seems a shame that both boys only got an episode. But I guess if too much time was spent on the dead partner that would make Senshirou sad. No it was better that the episode focused more on Kuroto’s pain rather than what the dead dude is about. I am just a curious person though.
I do wonder though if Senshirou ever asked about the partner. I mean if I am curious he must have been dying to know. I wonder if he compares himself to the former partner. I would want to ask after seeing that ring year after year. But Senshirou is a kind person so he probably never asked. XO
Over time Kuroto came to trust the family. I wish more of the scenes focused on Senshirou and not the Grandfather and the shogi game. They are the ones becoming partners. So yeah it seems like Kuroto should have made Grandfather the promise as he is the one who pulled Kuroto out of his shell. I am bad at guessing ages so I kinda want to know how long Kuroto was a shoji pro….But yeah these two needed more than one episode because I wanted to see more than a handful of Senshirou giving Kuroto love and attention scenes.
But then everything fell apart. Mostly because Takashiro failed at having Kuroto in a safe place. Although if Kuroto is the guardian why were people dying to protect him? Shouldn’t he have the awesome powers and stuff? Putting that aside I like that Senshirou was like NO I am going to protect you and that is that. Sad that Grandfather got taken out in the process but Senshirou came across really protective.
And then the reason for the conversation was explained. Luka was the one who helped seal away the red hair baddie. Because he and Takashiro are tight. I like how Luka wasn’t acting badass in front of them. He gave Grandfather a compliment and manage to give the boys hope without saying BUCK UP NOW. He might not say much but when he does Luka can be really comforting. So…Yuki didn’t really change Luka as Luka has always been kind hearted.
Kuroto wanting to leave Senshirou made sense and it didn’t make sense. Yes he was around and that is why people died. But everyone that Senshirou ever knew was dead and Kuroto wants to just leave? Sadness. That’s when Senshirou is like NO I will be your partner for real and we will fight this together. Part of me thinks that Senshirou wanted revenge for his Grandfather. But part of me thinks he joined just so he could be with Kuroto forever. Because I see the world through yaoi covered glasses.
In the end Yuki smiles and says it is a nice story. Kuroto’s emo attack is no match for Yuki’s smile. I do think Kuroto quitting shoji because he is never allowed to have fun ever is a bit too much but he is overall a bit too much so it was expected. Hopefully after Yuki’s smile Senshirou will give Kuroto a quick kick in the butt and all will be well. Or Kuroto will be emo forever and we can watch Senshirou call him cute despite of it all.
But next week we might get some action folks. The red hair demon wasn’t banished for very long. Fail Luka. But now we got a gang full of Guardians and Luka to tear his ass up so yay for battles. Hopefully. And Yuki and Luka really, reallly need to talk! They are getting left behind in the romance department!

i think the wedding scene is for yaoi fangirls! ehehehheee...
i just love the scene!!
oo yess...also 'i want to be your partner' scene...
ibuKA- This episode made it so easy to come up with lovely screenies for my lovely yaoi imagination. I mean....the only way they could have made the pairing more obvious was if there was a kiss involved. We even got a girl giving up on a dude because she knows he is in love with another dude.
"So…Yuki didn’t really change Luka as Luka has always been kind hearted."
But what you are seeing is post-Girl-Yuki-Lovin'-Luka, and prior to that he was a godless killing machine XD
I am dying to see the Luka/Yuki backstory. Even the manga has held out on it so far :( Come on anime I need some tender L and Y moments or I'm going to hate you.
Anonymous- But I want to pretend girl Yuki never existed...I don't want to give her credit for turning Luka's life around XD
But yes, Luka and Yuki need to step up and have their own moments. At this point Tsukumo and Toko are more romantic than the main characters.
Also it felt gross to write that...
I love how Toko and Tsukumo start off like, "NOW THE HUGE BATTLE WILL BEGIN," after which the episode goes into... a twenty-minute flashback about Kuroto's past, lol. Kind of an anti-climax, though we now have an even more obviously bonded couple (Kuroto and Senshirou) than Hotsuma and Shuusei...
I also like how Luka has either been in a tree, standing in a field or attacked in the last few weeks, and no one has said, for God's sake, let the boy come in the house already!
Jan- I loved that too. "It's the beginning of the final battle...AFTER WE DO MORE FLASHBACKS!!!" Very anticlimatic indeed.
But maybe Toko and Tsukumo are going to keep Luka company in that tree. Because Luka has spent a month (okay 3 days) outside alone and he is emo enough as it is!
XO I am still pulling for team Hotsuma and Shuusei to be the most romantic couple.
