Just say yes to watching loads of anime in your spare time!
It seriously feels like yesterday when I was blogging about the new and exciting anime shows that were coming in the Summer 2010 line-up. And really it feels funny to blog about the Fall when it is still the Summer. August heat is not making me feel all Autumn like.
But it is what it is. You have to talk about the next season halfway through the current one. It’s like having a blast one weekend while planning the next one. No time to enjoy the moment.
Now that I am done with the overdramatics it is time to talk about what I think about this new season. If the list is accurate. Most people seem to think it is and since I know at least one of the shows is airing this Fall I tend to think it’s real. And by the looks of things I might have a large schedule next season. X_X On with the love and hate.
Also none of the pictures and synopsis(es?) are mine. Ever. I would try to reword things in my own way but since I know nothing about these shows…that will probably not go over well. So yes stealing and all that jazz.
The Yes pile
To Aru Majutsu no Index Season Two
Yay for epic speeches!!!
The continuing adventures of Touma and Index with a side dose of Misaka. Of course I will be watching this show. It seems like forever since I last watched this show but I guess I got a little taste of the characters in Railgun. I missed your speeches Touma.
Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan Season Two
Yes Chizuru was annoying. Yes I had no idea what was going on in terms of factions and baddies and battles. And yes the zombie/demon factor was largely ignored for a long time.
But the boys were hot. And now they get new uniforms. So yeah, I am watching. Gotta make sure my favorites don’t die/get turned into zombies. That or make sure they all get healed in the end. Maybe Chizuru will die?
Togainu no Chi
I wonder why I am going to watch this show...
After being devastated in the third World War (known as The Third Division), Japan was divided in two. Several years after the end of the war, a crime organization called Vischio has taken control of the destroyed city of Toshima (formerly Tokyo, Japan's capital city), where they are holding a battle game known as "Igura". The game's main character, a young man named Akira, is falsely accused of a crime. Once arrested, a mysterious woman appears before him, offering him freedom if he agrees to participate in Igura and defeat Igura's strongest man: the king, or "Il-re". The story follows Akira's life in the harsh, lawless Toshima as he fights both to survive and to unravel the mysteries developing around him.
So this anime might be a little out of my comfort zone. It looks a little violent and I am not a fan of characters dying on me (of course I am watching High School of the Dead…). But I was promised a show of yaoi undertones so watch I must. Although upon reading the manga I was a bit overwhelmed about the drug use/how much the drugs matter in the show. I didn’t even make it to the yaoi undertones before I had to take a break. Still I am going to give this show a fair chance.
The Maybe Pile
Shinrei Tantei Yakumo
So is he trying to seduce us or something?
Based on novel by Kaminaga Manabu. Shinrei Tantei Yakumo, aka psychic detective Yakumo, tells a story about a college student, Saitou Yakumo who is born with different eye colors. His red left eye gives him a special ability to see ghosts and spirits. He believes ghosts and spirits are bound to earth because of a certain ’cause,’ and simply eliminating that ’cause’ will let those spirits rest in peace. Being asked for help by Ozawa Haruka, they begin the investigation together.
I am not sure about this one. It sounds interesting but I can see after a while how it could get boring if he solved a case an episode. Maybe that will not be the case. But I will watch an episode or two to get a feel of the show. Also I think (well hope) there is more to this show than this tiny synopsis because it comes off as pretty standard. Of course my guess is this kid is part supernatural himself so maybe that will bring the interesting.
But the art seems fun (aka he is good looking) so we will see how that goes.
Starry Sky
There has to be yaoi pairings right? There is only one girl so...you know...
The heroine, Tsukiko, enrolled to a school that was recently changed from all-boys school to co-ed. Since the area where the school happens to be conveniently rural and the rather exclusive curriculums the school has, up until now the heroine is the only female to enrolled at the school. In Starry Sky the 12 attributes of the Zodiac signs are personified into handsome young men.
Okay. Yes. Hot guys. That probably shouldn’t be the sole reason I watch a show. But….they are pretty…..
Although the idea of only one girl at an all male school worries me a bit. I guess it will be easier to make yaoi pairings with all the left over dudes but all I can see is everyone fighting over the one girl. I think it would have made more sense to integrate more women into the school and not just one female against an entire school.
But then we wouldn’t have the making of a reverse harem right? So…yeah. Not sure about this. I am interested in how weird the curriculum is but I can see how this can turn into a Fail City in a heart beat. So we shall see.
Goulart Knights
I'm in it for the good looking people.
Unidentified creatures "Archon" suddenly appear and bring the human beings to a crisis of extinction. A special corps "Goulart Knights" is formed to counter attack Archon. The knights have supernatural power to generate "Holy Grail" from their spirits and battle against Archon.
So yeah. I have no idea what this show is really going to be about. Monsters, teenagers fighting monsters. Nothing new here. But they have super powers which is always fun. Really I guess what makes me really interested is the art. I like pretty animes. XD But pretty can only go so far. So I will give this show a chance on pretty but if it lacks substance it will get kicked to the curb.
But I haven’t seen a good aliens are coming to kill us anime in a while. Might be worth checking out.
The No Pile
Yosuga no Sora
-_- Should have known...
I was all ready to put this on my maybe list. Then the internet revealed that there might be some twincest. So I am out. Sorry. It sounded interesting. But if the twist is that the twins were past lovers and will be lovers again nopers. NOPERS!
So with all that said X_X That is a lot on my plate. Of course I don’t have any shows carrying over which is kinda weird. I usually have at least one….oh yeah SS Amagami….well that will probably get dropped rather quickly so if I do pick up all these shows it might be manageable.
I neglected putting any airing dates because when it airs in Japan and when I find a copy of the subbed episode are two different things. So I can’t really say what is going to happen when. I just hope some of these titles turn out to be fun and interesting and worthwhile. Oh and I hope Chizuru dies.

That beautiful Toganiu pic @_@
That's the "my bf is an abuser, but I keep going back" picture. Shiki and Akira have a sexy, interesting and messed up relationship :\
And Togainu keeps getting the yaoi watered down with every incarnation. Seriously.
The original PC game was as graphic as it gets, though not until late in the story so it's more like a R rated movie with a plot than a porno. (You can actually see a few of the "intimate" moments on Youtube.)
Then the PS2 version took out all the sex scenes but left in the kissing and "suggestive" content, basically implying without showing.
Then the first manga, now cancelled because the magazine went bankrupt, followed Keisuke's (Akira's best friend's) storyline and kept in some yaoi undertones, though it was greatly washed over for the sake of being mainstream.
The most current manga purged almost all the gay, to make it as mainstream and marketable as possible. It's primarily following Shiki, Keisuke's and Rin's storylines, so they were compelled to leave in some of the undertones of Shiki and Akira's obsessive relationship. And they kept in one of S&A's sex scenes, though sadly not one of the consensual ones >_<

The anime will be primarily following Shiki's storyline (which is of course the best) and combining elements of the other characters' storylines, most notably the character Nano, Shiki's mortal enemy, and Keisuke.
We can only cross our fingers that some form of Shiki and Akira's desperate love makes it in, because it was easily the best part of any version of this story.
Anonymous- :( That makes me sad that the yaoiness keeps getting watered down. I tried reading the manga and all I saw was killing and some ugly dudes with drugs. WHERE WAS MY YAOI?!
Also running to Youtube right now....
But yeah, if Togainu no Chi has relationships like Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitte Iru then I would be happy. Of course more would be nice but still...
Christina,
Any of these being done by JC Staff? Feel like that's the best predictor of whether I'll like something lately...
yep I have a dirty mind http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=togainu+no+chi+ero&aq=f
Anonymous- According the internets they currently have that fairy tale anime out called Ōkami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi. They are also producing To Aru Majutsu no Index II which YAY XD. They also have Bakuman coming out this Fall as well.
Anonymous 2- I have spent about an hour now looking at all the naughtiness. XD It would take me less time if my husband stop interrupting me!
"I'm in it for the good looking people."
ROFL. Me too actually. I like your choices.
Macy- XD Yay for our sense of taste!
I know I am probably missing out when I just go by looks but I really can't get behind a show that doesn't look good to me. Just seems lazy. They could have the best plot/storyline ever but if the art isn't interesting I don't see the point.
But deep down I just like pretty boys. And then I blast shows for only showing boobies. Because I make sense.
