Tamako Market episode 2

MOG FOLKS! I started writing this episode last Wednesday. What kind of slacker am I?! I need to get on the ball. Focus focus. Or keep on doing what I am doing and just get to anime when I can? XD So much on my plate....mostly gingerbread cookies.

Because he is the weirdest bird ever?
Episode Summary: Tamako wakes up all sleepy like. She takes cares of her sister An before starting her morning of working in the shop and making breakfast for everyone. Tamako's father is not pleased with the heart shaped mochi she has made as it is not traditional. Dera announces to the family he is staying until spring so he can find a bride for his Prince. Also it is cold outside so you know. Tamako makes her way to school and shows her friend Midori her ideas of Valentine's mochi. They see other girls looking at chocolate magazines and Tamako knows she needs to make mochi cute. Kanna comes in with her plans to make a chocolate house. Tamako and Kanna are in awe of how Midori gets so many chocos from girls and guys. Tamako walks through her market place streets and notes how boring it looks because of the lack of decorations. Tamako contacts Mochizou via paper cups and tells him they need to spice things up and call a meeting. Dera entertains them with some rope walking. Soon the meeting with all the important business owners is called where Tamako and Mochizou very robotical suggest livening up the district for Valentine's Day. Everyone is excited about the idea except for Tamako's dad. Despite her dad being a stick in the mud Tamako enlists the help of her friends to make a video about the shopping district. Tamako and Kanna don rabbit outfits while Mochizou films. Kanna accidentally proposes to Dera via a sneeze and his ego grows about 15 sizes. For some reason Midori needs to take a break and Dera talks about matters of the heart with her. After filming the commercial Tamako comes inside to find her father making chocolate mochi. Father gets all embarrassed as Tamako gushes over it. The street comes together to watch the film. When the projection doesn't work Dera uses his crazy eyes to show off the commercial. Everyone is impressed but then confused when the Prince starts talking to Dera after said commercial airs. Tamako ends up giving chocolates only to her father but muses with Midori maybe they will give out love chocolates one day. THE END!

....So much chocolate....I wants it all!
Well I guess this anime hates January. Happy New Year and tada it's February. Me thins this show will focus on the fun aspects of life, much like season 1 of K-On!. Like whoosh cover the major slice of life high school moments and move on.

Dance little bird dance!
I might have appeared to be a Dera hater last week. It just surprised me how much of the episode revolved around him. The synopsizes I read online were like oh yeah and a bird. Well it appears that Mr. Dera will be a big part of this series if the first two episodes are any indication. That being said the funniest part of the episode was Dera dancing on the string. Dance overweight bird dance!

I live next door yet you barely notice my affections!
Does that whole thing work though? Two cups and a string I mean. Clearly my childhood was full of boring as I never recall doing so. And when I see it done in movies and on shows I just assume it works because the distance isn't that great and you are actually hearing the person, just not through the cups. I suppose it does work or how else was the phone invented...

Needs more color....
So this episode was about Valentine's Day. I find it odd that this shopping district didn't plan anything for the big day. It seems to be a very commercial holiday with the brainwashing of young girls into thinking that chocolate is the way to find love. XD I kid, I love chocolate. It just seems that all this shopping district needed to do was pull out all the decorations that are in storage and poof it up. But it sounds like they have never done anything for the holiday before. What kind of Japanese people are they?!

Beware of the fun killer behind you.
Tamako is the girl everyone loves and is wonderful. And why not? She shares her room with a much younger sister without complaint, wakes up early to work in the shop, makes everyone breakfast, and then helps out again after school. Plus In her spare time she thinks about how to improve her family's business. Tamako is clearly perfect. Not much time for life though right? Sorta feel bad for her now that typed it all out. That is probably the spoiled American talking in me though....even if farmer's kids probably do a lot of work too. Now I feel lazy. Brb, cleaning the bathrooms and sweeping the outside stairs while helping old ladies cross the street.

Your dad hates fun!
Tamako's dad was kinda a kill joy. A giant Debbie Downer if you will. I thought maybe he didn't want to do anything for Valentine's Day because he no longer had his Valentine. I was willing to give him some slack. But then it turned out he just didn't want t do anything because it wasn't traditional. Stick in the mud indeed. His daughter is trying to liven things up and increase fun/sales for all and he has to rain on her parade while stompin on her umbrella. I am surprised they are still in business with that attitude. I can understand wanting to keep things the same and traditional but sometimes you have to change a bit with the times, especially wen your competitor across the street is trying to be hip and edgy.

Begone foul beast!
But Valentine's Day came to the little market that could. I guess I thought the street was called Tamako too. No it's all about the bunnies. Tamako, Mochizou, and Kanna made a cute little commercial and I think it really showcased the fun atmosphere of the street and why people should shop there. But was it actually played as a real commercial? Or was it only seen in Dera vision? XD
Photobucket
Tamako might miss the point too.
Kinda felt bad for Mochizou. You can tell he wanted some chocolate from Tamako. Woe is him. He just needs to be more assertive from no on. Like he has been for years I am sure. And maybe stop being jealous of a bird. I wonder if Tamako's friends were trying to help Mochizou out by asking if Tamako was going to make some chocolates HINT HINT HINT! At least Tamako's dad gets what is going on right?
Photobucket
I don't think she has a thing for male birds okay.
While Kanna was off making bunny commercials Midori was off with Dera and being popular. I think Kanna and Tamako are just as cute but for some reason Midori is the popular one. Not that it matters because Midori might like Tamako. I don't know, I just get that vibe. Does Midori have a crush on Tamako? She was acting off, like she wanted to give Tamako chocolate or receive some from her. Dera sensed her pain though as they bonded over sad music and tea. What is up with Midori?
Photobucket
Um I want to give you chocolates Tamako.
In the end everything seemed to work out for everyone. Dad made the chocolate mochi, Dera added to his harem of women, Mochizou spent time with Tamako which might be better than chocolate, and the whole district came together to have fun. Woohoo to everyone having a good time. XD So next week should be Cherry Blossom viewing right? WHOOSH through the year.
