Shin Sekai Yori episode 14

Hello there my lovely readers. I almost killed all humans I came into contact at work with today. See my New Year's Resolution is working. Because before I would have at least taken out three of those annoying people. But I did good see? And I am running out places to hide the bodies. No backyard you know.

The only scene in the show that people are remembering. XD So...where is Mamoru during this time?
But before work I managed to watch/blog one episode. I would have had it up but apparently here at Tenchi's Thoughts we are going to try something different in terms of screenies. I am not sure why it is taking 45 minutes to download one episode but who knows. Anyway Shin Sekai Yori episode 14 and pretty screenies. Spoilers for everything being okay, according to one adult.

Everyone seems to be in a good mood today.
Episode Summary: Last time we saw our heroes/kids/victims things were not looking so great. Mamoru was crying about Killer Cats were coming to kill him thus he ran away from town. Well obviously this episode starts off with Satoru smiling and waving as he goes back to the village. He has decided to go back to...I don't know, make things better since Granny is so high up in the village. He leaves and Saki soon realizes that maybe she should go too as Granny has said Saki is the special one, not Satoru. There are a series of artistic conversations between Saki, Mamoru, and Maria. But Maria decides to stay behind since Mamoru is too afraid. Saki is unable to catch up to Satoru and instead is greeted by her parents. Her parents have no happy reunion as they are to take Saki to the Education Committee. Saki's mom wishes her luck and presses her to tell the truth. Instead there are several people ready to grill Saki but only two people really talk to her. The head lady with the short hair and some second rate banana who acts like she wants to punch Saki in the throat. Saki says that she will answer all the questions truthfully and does so at first. They ask the basic questions then it turns into why did Mamoru run away. Saki decides well they are going to kill me anyway, might as well mention the fact I know about the Killer Cats. Saki's bold answers piss of Second Banana and even Head Lady is is like look here we don't have time for games. Everyone gets very quiet and try to remind Granny that they are in charge when things get this bad. Granny smiles and says that they are all at fault for creating this problem and let her handle Saki. Saki is then released into Granny's care.

I think the problem is that you humans are trying to make this work and clearly it is not.
Saki is taken to Granny's house (well maybe just away) whose pets turn out to be the Killer Cats. Saki wants to know if she was going to be killed without intervention and Granny is like...maybe but you and Satoru are fine now. Granny wants Saki to bring Mamoru and Maria back to the village and promises that they will have her protection if she does so. But if Saki is unable to do this in 3 days the village will send the QueerRats to kill the two. And if Maria and Mamoru are able to survive the elements and those QueerRats no village will accept them and will send their own QueerRats. Saki questions why they can't just be left alone but Granny says that Saki doesn't see the big picture, that people are scared and that a line is being crossed. Granny offers to take Saki to the dock so she can boat off to adventure. Along the way Saki is asked to guess Granny's age and when she guesses wrong Saki is told the right age. 267. Granny saw that fiend way back forever ago so that is why she thinks everyone going bananas now is a bit over the top. She is able to stay in power due to her special skill of controlling her cells. Really her power is time and the knowledge she has gained due to being around so very long. She has seen many things and that is why she knows Saki is special. Saki's pottery making skill is something that will be needed to control cells thus Saki was being molded from the start. Granny sends Saki on her way along with Satoru to rescue Maria and Mamoru. Only when they arrive to where the snow shelter should be...well it is not there. THE END!

I think that you should worry about...everyone. At all times. Because you are in the anime Shin Sekai Yori.
Well hot damn folks. This show is still creepy as hell. Good to know a week off for the holidays didn't make this show any less What The Hell Did I Just Watch. There will be an explanation on why Saki doesn't just level the entire planet because what is the point anymore right?
Photobucket
SMILES FOR ALL!
I think when Satoru took off for the village maybe just maybe my little friends....Satoru could have looked a little worried. Like maybe he had just gotten a suitcase full of awful news and here is the matching carry on bag and no one told him about the check in fees. I can understand that Satoru was trying to be brave for Mamoru's sake but when he and Saki exchanged a glance he could have looked...like dude we are totally not getting out of this one alive.
Photobucket
Granny has my back. AND WHAT?!
I can understand Saki thinking that MAYBE things can be okay. She might have a tiny bit of pull since Granny has hand picked her to be the successor/leader of the village. But when still Granny would not protect Satoru back in the Fail Eevee days. Saki was probably the only reason why any of those kids survived. Well that and the precious experiment but more on that later. While Granny is trying to teach Saki that sometimes cruel things have to happen to protect the bigger population maybe Saki thought she could make a case. Like cashing in my one I might be leader favor now.
Photobucket
Because you have been killing kids for years? Just saying.
I think Saki had a good shot anyway. Or maybe in her mind she thought she did. She knows the truth about everything. Satoru only knows they are getting messed with and are in potential danger all the damn time. So Saki could use the knowledge of past events to explain that Mamoru really isn't that much of a threat. Hell I don't really see why he is a threat. Of course I don't see a lot of things about this show but still. Mamoru is just a little weak. A little timid. And a little bit of a crybaby. Not someone who has huge power leaking out of him. And if Mamoru had been left alone not someone who would go fiend on them.
Photobucket
Thanks Satoru.....
Of course now that a reason for some of this insanity has been explained one has to wonder if Mamoru being targeted for termination was planned. Something else to make Saki stronger? If so that would be messed up. Maybe all 5 kids were chosen in hopes one would be leader and if someone doesn't make the grade they are taken out. Because they know too much. Only one person with the knowledge of all the horribleness can live. So even if Mamoru is average in class and would really never hurt anyone he is the weakest out of group 1 and was going to be killed regards. Had he been in group 2 or 3 he could have lived on in blissful ignorance with happy bunny thoughts. Thems the breaks?
Photobucket
Goodbye indeed.
Maria better watch out herself. She used to be at the top of the pack but has slowly started to sink. Clearly she was never going to be on Shun's level. Perhaps he was meant to be the leader of the Board of Education and Saki the leader of the village/Ethic Committee and make a great pair. In terms of power it appeared Maria was just behind Shun. But as this show is slowly revealing things are not always as they appear and Maria floating and bouncing around in the air might not be that amazing. But even if Maria had amazing powers she clearly sways with the wind. She acts all big and bad but falls apart rather easily. So I am thinking that the order the kids are on in the promotional art for this show is the order they die. Spoiler alert? XD
Photobucket
I think Saki feels like throwing up but you know...yay for food?
This show is so messed up. Saki returns home and her parents don't even get a minute with her before she is off to danger again. At this point it should be expected but maybe her parents should have started crying or something. Only people under the age of 17 are in danger of being disposed of because they are not human they could risk showing some emotion yes? At this point they should know that Saki knows a lot more than she should thus the being brave her point might not apply.
Photobucket
Let me tell you about how safe this conversation is making me feel.
Saki really held her own during the meeting. Only two of the Educational members spoke during the...wait why did I say meeting? More like interrogation. Ms. In Charge and her Second Banana were the ones who talked though. Ms. Second Banana seemed pissed off at the world. THE WORLD folks. Like these kids should have just stayed in town and patiently waited to be killed. Because the stories in school are supposed to teach the kids to be docile and scared of the world, that being dead is better for all.
Photobucket
I will mess you up!
But I guess being that mad makes sense. These people have to be harsh with everyone to protect what is left of their messed up life. Everyone has to fall in line or it could fall apart at any second. Plus if the Education Committee goes around and hands out fear in party bags it might be a little jarring to come across someone who is defiant and what not. Plus deep down they are all still Japanese. I thought the Head Lady could have done a bit more talking. She seemed to be interesting in getting down to the truth while Second Banana was like RARW obey me. Not that any of this matters as Satoru spilled the beans already.
Photobucket
But we're in charge!!!!!
When Granny walked in the mood got weird. The Education Committee kept saying that this was a matter for them to handle yet the sweat drops on everyone's faces told a different story. Like you can't tell me what to do. But excuse me while I piss my pants anyway. Now it turns out there are two very good reasons for why they should listen to Granny. But I think it is important to note that Granny didn't think Mamoru should have been terminated....and if he did it should have done in a much better way. Okay maybe that part wasn't interesting but Granny is sorta head of the village and knows when people should be taken out or not. Which means that the Education Committee might be reacting a bit fast with the Killer Cats since Shun appeared.
Photobucket
Haven't I suffered enough?!
After Granny saved Saki she takes her back to her place. With the Killer Cats. I liked that moment of the show. I know it was to show that Granny is badass but really Saki should just melt from it all by now. But since Saki is special she seems to be doing okay. So what truth does Granny have for Saki this week? Gotta feed her first before unleashing that truth.
Photobucket
Mamoru probably should have been in the bubble group.
So one of the reasons that the Educational Committee got spanked was because...Group 1 is being experimented on. Remember how I said what about the other kids, aren't they missing people and what not? Well they probably aren't. At least not at the level Group 1 has been experiencing. Bratty kids and weak ones are plucked out of class and quickly forgotten. But when Group 1 came back from their QueerRat war they all should have been killed. Instead they were kept around to see what could happen. Because as Granny points out the leaders in this town have to be wolves, not sheep. This makes sense except the weak girl and Mamoru were placed in this group when Granny said it was the best of the best in this group, the ones with the most potential. I can see Mamoru being used as a prop to make the others better but the other girl? Seems like she was more there to be a shock factor to the viewers.
Photobucket
That incident? PSHT so long ago.
So the second part of Granny's truth. Well it was something I was questioning when I saw her. Like um you don't look like you are Granny age. So when Saki guessed the high number of 67 I was like oh snap she doesn't look like old. Well it turns out that Granny is 267 years old and the reason why she thinks the Education Committee is reacting fast is because there hasn't been a fiend in over 130 years.
Photobucket
A lot of time folks. A lot.
Oh folks. Oh indeed. Granny is really, really old. After going into the biological reason to why she is able to live so long (which would be helpful in fighting cancer too!) she slides in the fact that Saki might be able to do this too. That Saki and her stupid pottery making self is actually HELPING. So while Maria might look cool Saki is being taught something that might help her live for a really, really long time. See how creepy this show is?
Photobucket
Especially if you can live forever!!!
Of course this leads to the question why would Granny need to train Saki to take over the village if she can live forever? Well she didn't say forever Tenchi. She just has been alive for a very long time thus far. She can still be killed, just not from old age. She might want to have a backup plan in case that happens. Or maybe she is going to opt out of this world since she has been around for so long. Like okay I did my part, time to give the reigns to someone else.
Photobucket
But if you bring them back everything will be okay PROMISE!
I found myself questioning why Saki would believe this lie, that go bring Mamoru and Maria back and they will live. I mean...she knows most of the truth. So why would she believe that if Mamoru comes back they will let him live? They didn't want him to live before when he didn't do anything wrong. So....why would Saki believe that Granny is going to be able to keep her word and keep the Education Committee at bay? It just seems odd. No matter how smart Saki is sometimes she still follows her heart and the programing of the school.
Photobucket
Just tell her the truth, the stork really does bring babies. Only the stork is a machine in the library or something.
But now I think I know why adult Saki (who might be 83943 years old now) says Maria caused the deaths of many people. Granny was very adamant about sending Satoru and Saki out to get Maria and Mamoru, a girl AND a boy. That since there was a boy AND a girl out there things could get dangerous very fast and the entire world might be in jeopardy. That is Mamoru and Satoru were out there or Mari and Saki no one would really go after them and send tons of QueerRats to get them. Now why would that be? Well if a society is controlling everything else about your life you can bet they are controlling when/how babies are born. If they are born at all. Maybe everyone is a test tube baby. They could have tons of technology and be hiding it from everyone else. They grow a baby and then brainwash a couple into thinking that the baby is theirs. Only if Maria comforts out of his mind Mamoru that would be unsanctioned sex. Maybe everyone is given pills or something in their food to keep them infertile and by missing some treatments Maria could get pregnant.
Photobucket
What do you mean they left?! Don't they know it is all going to be okay?!?!
So there it stands folks. Saki and Satoru are going to rescue Maria and Mamoru from QueerRats, themselves, and the village. Only to take them back to the village. Where Mamoru would probably be killed anyway. However Maria and Mamoru aren't where they left him and in the previews for next week there is more QueerRat war. And if this war lasts longer than the 1 day war last time...well maybe we will be seeing a cute little fiend baby running around? Because clearly it is all Maria's fault. ALL HER FAULT! Until next time....
