Little Busters! episode 14

WEEEE! After all the drama that has been happening lately it seems like there will be a fun day trip in my future. Pile my friends and the husband in the car and Downtown Disney type of fun. Working towards the Sunday at this point. XD No drama can happen on this day trip, I command it!

Next arc: Riki saves a tree.
Even though Sunday is quite a few days away I guess I should blog now as no blogging will happen on my blogging day off. Ah all the Duffy stuff I want to buy....but for now Littler Busters episode 14. Spoilers for Mio....well being slightly crazy.

:( I believe in you Riki?
Episode Summary: Riki looks beyond upset as he sits in the classroom and watches Midori talk up everyone like she was Mio. He thinks how he is slowly forgetting things about Mio and how he might forget all about her soon. He covers up his feelings when Midori skips over and says he will forgot about Mio soon. She tricks Riki by planting false memories of Mio in his head. When he believes them she is like HAHA not real and Riki is more upset. He then has a dramatic moment after Midori leaves that he will actually forget Mio. Riki goes to Kyousuke to talk about his problems. While Kyousuke understands what Riki is saying he can't help the boy out as Midori is Mio to him. The only mission that Kyousuke can give Riki is to only believe his (Riki's words) and no one else's. Riki starts telling himself over and over again to not forget, not to forget wait forget who? And right when he is about to forget Mio he sees that the tanka (poem) contest is over and the flyers are being taken down. He runs over to the board and finds that Mio wrote a poem about their conversation about being a bird, blue oceans, and paper airplanes. Midori walks by and sees Riki being upset about Mio. Riki asks where Mio is and Midori says the beach, despite Mio not wanting Riki to know. Riki makes his way down the beach and sees Mio there. Mio says that Riki needs to forget about her so Midori can take her place. Riki says he understands what is going on but Mio explains to the audience what the hell is going on.

Midori can't be a poem because she isn't real....
When Mio was little she read tons of books and had a huge imagination. She started talking to her reflection in the mirror, commenting that she looked lonely. So the reflection comes out to become Mio's little sister Midori. Together they had tons of fun and Mio's reality and imagination became blurred. She has tons of fun with Midori but Midori wishes that she could go to school. Mio starts saying that Midori should be the one to have fun and go to school. Her mother becomes worried about this imaginary friend business and soon Mio is taken to the hospital to be experimented on to get the imaginary friend out of her. Mio slowly starts forgetting Midori until she reads that same old poem in the book. She remembers Midori and feels bad about forgetting her. So Mio promises herself that the next time someone has to disappear it will be her. Mio explains all of this to Riki and says that all that's left is for Riki to forget about her so she can go between the space between the ocean and the sky. Then suddenly poof Mio is gone and a bird is flying away. Riki starts to forget all about Mio and he melts to the ground crying. He doesn't want the tears to stop because then he will forget her forever. Riki gets a call from Midori who asks what he is going to do next. Riki says he is going to save Mio. Midori encourages this and Riki promises not to forget about Midori when she leaves. Riki then walks into the ocean to save Mio and appears to drown. But doesn't drown. Instead he sees Mio in the form of a bird. He tells her not to disappear, that all humans feel lonely and have problems understanding each other. But Mio can't give up and has to stay. Midori appears and tells Mio that she will become apart of her and they can be one so just come back. Mio and Riki appear on the beach and Riki is like what the hell was that? Mio starts crying but realize that Midori is back in the form of her shadow and everything will be okay. The Little Busters welcome Mio back with opened arms and happy scenes of Mio's new life splash across the screen. THE END!

Riki was just a little upset this episode. Just....a little.
What...what the hell was that? At one point I was confused but decided okay this is what is really happening. Then there was a bird and Riki drowning in his head and POOF things were better. Like what the hell folks. Were there plot points cut out from the source material or was there just way too much imagery going on for my little brain to understand?
Photobucket
It's like he is the one disappearing or something.
That all being said Riki is SUPER dramatic. Maybe that is what I am confused about. He is having a crisis in his head in the classroom, all woe is me and being the only thing in the room despite there being chairs and what not. So when he is walking out in the ocean and suddenly things get crazy with Riki drowning in the ocean....yeah it gets a little confusing on what is reality and what is made up in his head.
Photobucket
Just a little stab through the heart?
Midori was all over the place with this episode too. Well arc I should say. She starts off all evil like, exposing that Mio has no shadow. Then she takes Mio's place and shoves it Riki's face, even to go as far as to try to seduce him. In this episode Midori continues to skip around and say haha you are going to forget Mio and let me help you in the forgetting by planting false memories. Yet the second the poem comes around Midori is like...let me explain to you everything and help you out Riki. And by the end of the episode Midori actually wants Mio to come back and is okay with everything. Like oh okay because all of that made sense. If Midori wanted Mio to come back all along she should have acted like that, not like some crazy person happy to have taken over.
Photobucket
But you are supposed to know everything!
One thing that I liked about this episode is that Kyousuke did not have all the answers. Or if he did he didn't tell them to Riki. I still think that Kyousuke is pulling all the strings while it just appears that Riki is happening upon all these girls that need attention. And Kyousuke flat out said mission in this episode to Riki. I think that is proof enough that he is the one sending the notes and such.
Photobucket
So....don't believe you either?
But for whatever reason Kyousuke did not tell Riki what was going on. Maybe that is because that would expose Kyousuke's supernatural abilities to know everything. So Kyousuke either had to play dumb or really he had no idea what Riki was going on about. I think that Riki saying the world was all messed up was a bit too much though and could have scared anyone else but Kyousuke away from helping him. The world is out of joint ya'll. I need to catch up on those episodes next. The only thing weird going on was Mio being forgotten and Midori taking her place.
Photobucket
I hope the Little Busters didn't win.
So...I thought the poem/tanka contest was just something Kyousuke thought up. Like lets do this Little Buster activity to make Mio feel apart of the group despite the fact they met her 10 seconds ago. But it turns out (or maybe I am just dumb) there was actually a Tanka contest for the whole school. So Mio really meant she was going to think of a poem for the actual contest. Does that mean the Little Busters entered their crazy poem?
Photobucket
And now you are nice? What the heck?!
After seeing the poem I think it became clear or helped Riki into never forgetting Mio. I am not sure why that created a change in Midori but suddenly she stopped being all evil and turned into a sad girl. I mean....I am sure she did want to stay, as much as made up people can want something. It just seems to me the changed happened instantly. Maybe she could have gotten Riki to forget about Mio if she wasn't acting SO cocky and out of character. Just saying. Also I am not seeing how Midori telling Riki where Mio was was a grand thing. Wouldn't you go to the last place you saw someone to find them again?
Photobucket
So...split personality with a dash of Key magic?
So.....while listening to Mio's story about who Midori is/was I thought...okay this isn't really making sense. Perhaps Midori was a split personality the whole time and Mio just pretended like she was an imaginary friend? I realize that the two are drastically different problems but I thought that would be the only way to explain why Mio “disappeared” and Midori appeared. That Mio could feel Midori becoming the stronger personality and she knew she was going to poof.
Photobucket
How do you know she is in the ocean? X____X Also looks like you are disappearing too.
But then I realized that Riki saw Midori with Mio on the beach. And Mio actually POOFED at the end of the conversation. So how did an imaginary friend steal Mio's shadow and become a person with a real body? And then at the end of the episode just go back into Mio? I know that Key has shows like this, with aspects unexplained. But the more I think about it the more confused I become. Like I had something completely different that I wanted to blog about but it is all slowly oozing out of my mind. Maybe I should just stop while I am behind and go with the flow. Shadows can become people and people can become birds and poems can be anything you want them to be.
Photobucket
Thanks for the huge mom fail here!
That being said obviously Mio was a bit over dramatic. I think that was obvious to everyone but I thought I just say that. Not that it is all her fault. Her mother was a bit dramatic herself. Do kids have imaginary friends? Yes. Do they often lose them before they get into the double digits? Yes. Should you be worried if your kid thinks said imagery friend deserves to live instead of them? Yes. But instead of running to the doctors and forcing treatments on them why not do this amazing thing called TALKING TO YOUR KIDS?! A foreign concept I know. Maybe parents aren't around in animes because when they do they make things worse!
Photobucket
Or...or...you could cry and let someone comfort you and stay alive. And not die.
But yes Mio was dramatic. She is forced to forget about a fake person and the only way to make things better is to offer to disappear yourself? Wait what? I know that Mio probably felt lonely as a child and that might have turned into some self esteem problems when her imaginary friend turned out to be more interesting than her. Of course she doesn't seem realize that she made the friend interesting but still. Does Mio value her life so little she is willing to throw herself in the ocean so her imaginary friend can live?
Photobucket
So there has been a tiny bird AND a book so far. Having flashbacks folks.
If that is so....she needs way more than Riki to dive into that ocean and tell her a few things. Some of those things he already said to her before. Komari had some deep problems and he solved them in 5 minutes but this is a new level of WOW you need help. I am not trying to blame the little suicidal girl but if you don't talk to people in your class and go out of your way be alone...you probably won't have any friends and you will feel alone. I know you missed someone that wasn't really there but of course it was easy to connect with her. YOU WERE HER! Yes people can be disappointed but a lot of the time your friends will understand and help see you through.
Photobucket
Shadows becoming people....I see now.
Riki managed though to get through to Mio the bird and Midori..the person who wasn't really there but showed up because maybe it was a split personality? And then that was it. Mio cried a few tears, got her shadow back, and joined the Little Busters for real. That was a lot of build up for WOOHOO it is okay now. X___X I am glad that Mio isn't suicidal now but she should go get counseling or something. That was a whole lotta messed up.
Photobucket
WEEEEE ALL BETTER!...Okay I am a little sarcastic. I guess good friends can make things a lot better in life.
But I doubt that will happen. Who knows what Midori really was but it appears that she will live on Mio and they will be one person. So maybe Mio will act a little different but remain the quiet one in the group. Everyone is happy! Psht melt away problems because next week we are going to have some fun. Until another girl has a problem that Riki has to fixed. But fine for now.

Hello @Christina

So Midori was Mio's imaginary friend turned real by sorcery? I don't know. It just seems too ludicrous for me. I would have been more accepting of the episode had Midori been an evil twin, dragon disguised as a girl or a vampire! But imaginary friend? Too supernatural even for me! The writers could have at least giving the audience a plausible explanation of how Midori became a real person like Mio was a sorceress all along!

I don't understand Midori's intentions. First she wanted to make everyone, including Riki, forget about Mio, replaced her, and then she brought back Mio out of love?--the writers seem to be having a problem with literary consistency!

Maybe I'm too critical on this episode because it reminded me of the Nintendo 3DS game Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir. That game also had a similar plot regarding imaginary people, and I thought it was absurd as well! >:(

Why does Riki care so much? Is he that desperate for romance? He barely knows Mio for 3-4 episodes until Midori explained everything. And before the great Mio reveal, he's willing to move the moon for her. I knows he's the protagonist of this somewhat harem show, but I don't find it believable. Like I said before in Komari's arc, it takes time for true friendship and trust to develop; the same thing can be said about romance--it takes time, folks. Maybe it's a culture thing. I guess Japanese people bond more quickly than others. I wouldn't know because I live in America, and it's a different culture here than Japan.

That's all, people.

Anonymous- I am so glad that someone else feels the same way I do. What the heck was Midori and what was up with her personality being all over the place? Nothing was explained well and the writers just want to chalk it up to "mystery". Like um no I like mystery but it still needs to be based in reality or some sort of logic. And is the mystery the fact you aren't explaining things to me because that is what I am walking away with. Bleh.

Riki is on a mission to find anyone who looks lonely and save him. Because once upon a time he was saved from loneliness. Now if I was a lonely person I would run away from someone so forceful but each their own. Friendship! They form in 5 seconds!
