Happy Early Birthday to me! Nendoroid Madoka has been ordered!

Today has been a rather lazy day. Instead of catching up on the new Fall animes (I seem to be three episodes behind now haha) I decided to spend the day being a couch potato with my husband. His job decides to unzombiefy him for the day so we could eat a yummy breakfast and what not.

Also part of my super productive day was ordering Nendoroid Madoka from the hit show Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica. After seeing such expensive prices at AWA I thought um maybe I should start ordering/preordering Nendoroids I want from the internets and buying the hard to find nendoroids at conventions.

WEEEEE! I need all the tiny pieces of plastic in the world!

Soon she shall be mine. Thanks grammy and other people who (hopefully) will gift me with money for my birthday. XD I would have waited until I had the actual cash to order her but seeing how crazy prices can get I figured I needed to do so while my website of choice still had her.

Speaking of high prices....dang. I really did not know the dollar was doing AS BAD as it is now. Thank goodness I went to Japan in May. When I was planning out my purchases 3000 yen was about $33.33. Slowly things started to creep upwards to $35.00. Now my Madoka nendoroid is $39.00 before shipping. I do think the shipping I got ($10) was pretty reasonable considering it coming from Japan. But still dang.

Nothing will ever beat actually going and paying for nendoroids directly in Japan. Not bragging, just stating a fact. There is no middle man and the competition has sorta evened the playing field. But maybe I will rethink my stance on how "outrageous" the prices were at AWA. The cheapest nendoroid I saw all weekend was the one I bought (Strength from Black Rock Shooter). The rest ranged from $55-$90. So maybe the $55 ones were not as unreasonable as I thought. These dealers still have to make money. Of course the ones like Mickey Mouse and Kyon from Haruhi were still grossly overpriced but maybe not the Madokas I saw floating around.

Regardless I think I am going to spend more time investing in Nendoroids over the internet and not rely so much on anime conventions to find my lovelies. Avoiding the mark-up might be the better way to go so I can beat the I NEED THAT NOW affect conventions have on me. Of course one really needs to check for updates often on websites as pre-orders get sold out pretty fast. Homura and Mami already have closed reservations at my website of course so I need to be on the ball when they start selling their overflow.

In conclusion...YAY ME!!! XD There seems to be a small window of time where one can purchase a nendoroid without breaking the back. Hopefully the dollar starts improving soon as many convention goers do not have money trees in their backyards to afford $15 cellphone charms and what not.
