New Anime Series! To Aru Majutsu No Index Season Two

Still feeling really sad and drained today. We don’t know anything in regards to funeral or plane tickets or anything. So we are just sitting around the house feeling pretty sad.

While people are taking naps and private time I am trying to keep myself off the sadness and To Aru Majutsu no Index seemed like a good way to occupy myself. It was a really solid anime in the past and the second season should be no exception. Cheer me up Touma, I need it.

Favorite phrase ever in animes.

Spoilers for destroyed homework and hungry libraries.

Such love between these two.

Episode Summary: Touma is deeply screwed. Due to the events last week (or in our perspective like 18 months ago) he is seriously behind on his homework. Between Misaka making him pretend to be his girlfriend and that magician trying to squish Index he is sadly behind. He doesn’t get the homework anyway due to the fact that he is a level 0 (information that is given to the user to remind us about season one). Index is not helping any with watching TV very loud and begging Touma for food. There are shenanigans in the apartment and a creepy man with a crossbow is walking around. After a nifty opening song the evil looking dude blows up Touma’s apartment. Only they were not home at the time as Touma took Index out to eat with his homework in tow. Touma gets a bad feeling when his place goes explody but then a waitress spills food all over his homework so he is too sad to be worried. Well until the evil dude blows up the restaurant/his homework. Touma tries to scream and punish the dude but evil dude with his evil magic kidnaps Index and goes on his way. Aisa is briefly seen getting pushed over when the evil dude goes invisible and runs down the street.

I HAVE THINGS TO DO LADY!

After some cat antics Touma runs into Misaka. Since this date thing just happened the other day (or forever ago) Misaka is mad that Touma is ignoring her….but Touma proceeds to ignore her more as he runs after Index. Misaka has the sad. Index is on the roof of some building as the evil dude sets up some magical thingy thing. Index turns on her phone so Touma can hear what is going on and help Touma locate them. The dude has a BORING LADY FRIEND that has a curse on her and she is slowly dying. Evil dude has set up a magical field where he can go inside Index’s mind and find the correct volume to save the BORING LADY FRIEND. Index warns him that he will probably die by doing that and the dude responses by bleeding everywhere.

Rooms are overrated anyway.

Touma arrives on the scene and uses his magic no magical hand to stop the spell. Dude falls down and starts coughing up blood as Touma explains that if evil dude dies while trying to save the BORING LADY FRIEND she will feel guilty for the rest of her life. And something about living for yourself. Dude gets it and dies on the ground. Or not as the cat scratches him back to life. Touma is like get up dude and take me to your BORING LADY FRIEND and I will heal her. All is well. Except on a beach somewhere as Kaori slashes up a bunch of knight looking dudes. Motoharu shows up and calls them the Knights of England. Both Motoharu and Kaori don’t explain why they are there or who exactly they are working for but allow each other to leave without fighting. THE END!

This episode….was amazing. Really cheered me up in a time of sadness.

Yes give us a review of last season please.

However I really do feel like I should have watched the last few episodes of season 1. Season two seriously picks up minutes after the first one. Which I guess makes sense. Life goes on and especially in Touma land drama is always happening. So none of this one month/two months later stuff is going to happen. So on one hand it makes sense but on the other I am like OH YEAH that mask dude/Misaka asking Touma to be her pretend boyfriend. This probably would have worked better if the two seasons aired closer together.

The entire diner is ruin but MY HOMEWORK!

Yet it was still amazing. Right away I was taken back to the silliness that is Touma and the hungriness that is Index and the jealous crazy girl that is Misaka. It was easy to get back into the series which I think is a positive thing. A very good first episode of season two.

Photobucket

Exactly Touma. Powers don't pay your bills.

Poor silly Touma. His life is in constant danger, he has no powers, and a crazy girl lives in his very small apartment. But the biggest drama in his life is his homework. See people, he is just a normal boy with normal problems. One would think that after dealing with all the craziness in his life he would have a better perspective on what is a big deal and what isn’t. But maybe his point of view IS a realistic point of view. Like I am almost killed every week AND I have homework. Might drive me crazy too.

Photobucket

Chaos follows her everywhere. X_X

Index is more of a froot loop. She is constantly in danger BUT SHE WANTS FOOD. One would think that she would have an ounce of pity for what Touma has to go through since she has entered in his life but no, she is a normal annoying girl with annoying personality traits. At the end of the day she shows that she really cares about Touma so maybe her trying to keep it real is a way for them to deal with all the craziness in their lives.

Photobucket

WTF is wrong with her eyes? !

Misaka is SO SILLY. Of course I am all confused on when this is all happening, in regards to season one and her own show but still. She is a badass half the time and a silly shy girl who has a crush on a boy the other half. And I like that. I keep saying the word realistic in regards to a show that has magic and weird powers as the main point but you know..their emotions and how they react to things are real to me. So I like that Touma is running around trying to save Index and Misaka is having a jealous attack. Maybe next time Touma can use her help too….

This is more bloody than the action anime...

The baddies ended up not being much of a baddie. Sorta like the entire season of To Aru Kagaku no Railgun minus the last crazy pants. He wanted to save his friend and only kidnapped Index and blew up Touma’s apartment and destroyed his homework and a random restaurant. He wasn’t a bad guy okay, just super serious about saving someone. He also couldn’t wait for Index to be alone; he had to make a huge scene so everyone would think he was up to no good when really he was trying to be good. MAKE MORE MESS!

Photobucket

I would not like being called boring lady, even if you were trying to save my life.

But really, why dude did you keep calling your love BORING LADY FRIEND!? Like I am sure she really enjoys you calling her that. Sorry she is not out blowing up restaurants and wearing archery gear but that doesn’t give you the right to call her boring. THAT IS NOT A ROMANTIC TERM EVIL DUDE! It does make me want to go AWWWW poor guy. He didn’t have to go on and on that he loved her but he didn’t have to say she was boring 15 times later.

Photobucket

See, such sympathy.

I like how all these terrible things happen to Touma and after the dude is all bleeding and dying on the ground Touma is like I will go cure your friend. Because Touma is a nice person like that. People can try to hack off his arm and he is like dude I understand, I don’t want you to die too. That and this not so evil dude actually hurt himself more than anyone in this episode. So one could say he suffered for his crime already and he didn’t need any more butt kicking.

Photobucket

Whose side are they on again?

The last part of the episode was like OH OKAY. Seems like that will be the main plot or at least the first main plot. So it’s okay for me to be confused on what is going on. Just that if I was trying to sneak into a foreign country I might have worn a different outfit.

Photobucket

His fashion sense is still questionable.

The opening song was okay but not as good as the season one ones. Because I am picky okay. And the ending theme song was okay too much I tend not to like many ending theme songs. They can’t make me happy so I might as well not judge them.

Comment

I guess that is about it for now. I thought this was an excellent first episode. Touma had a little dramatic speech, Index was crazy, and Misaka had a meltdown. I really look forward to seeing the rest of the season. Even Accelerator and his crazy grin self I look forward too, insane right?

Such a positive start.
