Time to turn on each other. Nothing brings people closer together than 99 percent of the population dying...oh wait...
So now that I opened up with my random statement…it is time for blood and guts ya’ll. Oh and some bouncing boobs. But you already knew that right? Also our heroes will be leaving the high school this week which kinda kills the name slightly but we are going to roll with it okay?
Time for BRAAAAINS!
Episode Summary: Our six survivors continue to watch the news as the reporter is eaten and suddenly the news feed goes back to the studio. Everyone tries to report the new calmly but soon across the world news pours in that zombies are everywhere. Takashi is frustrated with the lack of information but Saya explains that they are trying to keep people from panicking. There is then an intellectual conversation about how infections/outbreaks spread and how this one will likely keep on going as the people who die…get up and keep on spreading the disease. The idea is thrown around that perhaps once the zombies start to rot everyone will be safe. But they decide to leave the school anyway. They pick up 4 random survivors on the way. Takashi tests out the theory that the zombies are blind and it is proven correct. But one of the random survivors makes noise and the group has to run to the doors. One of the newly picked up people is eaten and his girlfriend decides to die with him (confusing Saya) but the rest make it to the bus safely.
They are about to leave when a teacher (Mr. Shido) starts running up with a group of survivors. Rei loses her mind and tells everyone to leave him behind. Takashi is like um no crazy pants and they wait for them. In that time Mr. Shido kicks a survivor in the face when the kid breaks his knee but it is unclear if everyone else saw that. In any event Rei is totally bitter about Mr. Shido being on the bus. As they drive through the city everyone is shocked on how crazy and awful things look. One of the newbies is like MOG I do not want to follow you crazy people. Mr. Shido insists that the group have a leader and he nominates himself since he is the teacher. All the new survivors back him up and Rei is super pissed. She doesn’t explain why she is pissed but jumps off the bus and says she is leaving. Takashi goes after her but they are nearly run over by a bus that goes out of control. They are blocked from getting back on their bus and Takashi yells that they will meet by the police station at 7pm. Then Takashi is almost eaten by a zombie but Rei saves him. They use the zombie’s motorcycle to travel to the city to make it to the 7pm deadline. THE END!
XO Despite the stupid fanservice moments this show is pretty awesome. But I am pretty biased because I do love my zombie movies. However since I am a fan of BRAAAAINS I can appreciate the small details and important events they cram into these tiny episodes.
Also did I hear REAL English on that news program? Engrish amuses me but I do like it when shows try to be authentic. It might have been stronger had there been different languages going on in the back ground (Chinese, Russian, ect.) but I think it was handled well. A bit of chaos, our President leaving the White House, and no real information. Just like what would happen in real life if random zombies were eating people. There would be conflicting stories, the media trying to not cause a panic, and the people watching the news program feeling frustrated that there are no useful details.
I do think our high school survivors should have thought a little harder on where they were going to escape to. Plans are important people. They were slightly safe in that teacher’s lounge if they were quiet. They should have come up with a game plan. But maybe they think going to all of their houses WAS a good game plan. So they are still operating under the OH my family is still safe line of thinking. It’s expected, it has only been hours since the whole world ended. Soon they will realize that everyone they have ever known is dead. I will let them cling to their misguided hope for now and watch as their numbers get dwindled down.
Although….since they picked up new survivors their chances of living through the house visits has been increased. This kinda goes against zombie movies though as usually everyone is at risk of dying and rescued survivors aren’t so expendable. But this is anime so the new kids are very, very expendable so we can have our core group still. So that does take a little away from the WHO WILL DIE NEXT aspect.
XO I am not sure how I feel about the zombies being blind. I am trying to think back to any movies I saw with this kind of zombie trait. Like why wouldn’t they be able to see? Their ears still work so….you know why not their eyes. Not that it matters as people are still messing up this wonderful GIFT they have been given. Seriously people, blind zombies and you can’t walk 5 steps without having a crazy attack. I say that and I trip over nothing….still. Blind zombies.
But as I said earlier we have more survivors in tow. No thanks to Rei. We get it. The random teacher is probably the reason you got left back a grade. He did kick that student in the face for no reason. He could have just left him to die, no hard feelings. But she was all like NO DON’T SAVE HIM when there were other people running towards the bus. Um hello there Ms. Crazy what happened to helping survivors when you came across them? You need some meat shields at the very least….
And then after teacher and his students are saved Rei gets mad when he wants to be the leader? Um Rei, that is not why he shouldn’t be leader. So far he has done what needs to be done to survive and he he did so with a relatively large group of people. Everyone else was in pairs for a while which is easy to manage. But teacher was able to keep it together long enough to get a bunch of kids outside. Plus he has a good point. Without a leader things will descend into fighting and craziness. End of the world movies/shows are 1 part MOG they are going to kill us and 1 part let’s turn on each other and make things more difficult than they need to be. So while home boy teacher might be an evil dude at heart he has really good ideas and it is not really that crazy that he wants to be leader. So instead of jumping out of the bus screaming you hate him why not tell the group why he can’t be trusted. Now you look like a crazy person.
I think our survivors should have picked up some supplies before and after they left the school. Okay living through the next hour is important but think long term people. Water is the first thing that is going to go bad in this crazy world. You have a huge bus and you proved that the zombies can’t hear. Why not make a few stops and get some supplies. Like protective clothing and what not. Honestly it is like these kids didn’t have a Zombie Apocalypse plan or something.
It is was a little dramatic that a bus has not separated Rei and Takashi from the others but I liked the out of control vehicle. Like maybe it is out there that someone randomly made it to a bus after getting eaten but it is possible since people don’t die right away after being infected. So in that regards there should be subways and buses and trains full of zombies eating the living. So while it is magical that Rei and Takashi get separated right at that moment I do like that it was used.
But now Rei and Takashi are boned. Instead of calmly stating her problems Rei jumps out of a bus that was nice and safe because she hates one dude. I hate a lot of people in this world but I am not going to DIE because they suck. Hell I will use them as a shield. But Rei didn’t and next week we shall see the results of her decision. People stop making bad decisions; you will live longer that way!!!
