Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitte Iru Episode 9

When you stay home from work for a week you really lose track of what day it is. So it took me a while to realize that OH BOY it is Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitteiru day. Yes my life is that interesting that anime releases are the highlight of my day. XD Go me.

Misleading screenie is misleading!

While this episode lacked action (unless you count things catching on fire action) it made up for with lots and lots of angst and feelings. Oh and yaoi in case you missed the memo on that one. I am not sure how things are progressing in terms of the manga plot but some issues have been covered that seem important? Anyway not action packed but full of tears and sparkly boys.

I like starting off my day with people telling me I'm fat!

Episode Summary: The episode starts off with younger Hotsuma showing off the stars to Shuusei but Shuusei is more captivated by his smile. But fast forward to the present and Shuusei doesn’t want to eat lunch with the rest of our heroes. Yuki helps set the table, ignores the fact that Tsukumo mentions Touko being on a diet, and runs off to bring Shuusei down to breakfast. Yuki notices the scar on Shuusei’s chest. Shuusei brushes it off and tells Yuki that it can’t be healed. Shuusei goes to school and skips the family fun time breakfast. Hotsuma gets word of this and runs off after him. As the siblings inform Yuki of the obvious (that Hotsuma and Shuusei are BFFs) Tachibana decides that he is going to jump on board the obvious train and tell Yuki that Hotsuma doesn’t like him. Hotsuma tracks Shuusei down in his classroom (the scandal of a 1st year being in a 2nd year classroom!!!!!) and demands he eats some sandwiches. Shuusei tries to declare his love to Hotsuma but Hotsuma is too busy ranting about sandwiches and getting water split on him. Shuusei lends him his handkerchief rather than wiping up the water himself because why give us a great scene like that?! Then Shuusei gets a call from Takashiro. Takashiro is off in his office being important and talking to the police. Some missing high school boys and a teacher has been upgraded to weird status and how it probably isn’t related to a case about a girl who can’t wake up. It is important that the non related case get mentioned because they must be related.

Tsukumo decides that he needs to have a moment with Shuusei that doesn’t go over well. Hotsuma leaves his Shuusei handkerchief behind in the classroom and some stalker girls picks it up because this show doesn’t have enough females. Hotsuma has to escort Yuki to the gate because apparently Luka is giving him space or something. Yuki tries to compliment Hotsuma on his power and his kindness but Hotsuma runs off all hurt. He thinks back to the time where he was trying to save another kid from being bullied and OPPIES he caught people on fire. The only person that stuck by Hotsuma was Shuusei. Hotsuma arrives home and Shuusei greets him warmly. They go out and look at the stars. Shuusei gives Hotsuma the necklace Yuki made them and Hotsuma reluctantly takes it. Then Hotsuma talks about how he wants Shuusei to be with him forever and clothes end up on the floor, and it is magical. Well it is magical because that part was made up but a girl can dream. It really ends with Shuusei leaving the room and Hotsuma mumbling about the scar. Elsewhere stalker girl is walking to House of Divination, the place that is probably responsible for the crimes Takashiro is investigating and has Kanata’s sparkle girl working at.

It feels wrong to call this scene cute :( But it is.

The next day Yuki tries to apologize for things that are not his fault. Hotsuma stomps away angry. Tachibana keeps making Hotsuma angry when he informs Hotsuma that his parents want to talk to him. Hotsuma leaves and Shuusei explains to Yuki that Zweilt Guardians are basically bought from their parents. Awesome. Yuki is upset at this news and runs after him with Shuusei’s blessing. Hotsuma is outside thinking about how his parents were scared of his powers and didn’t want him anymore. Yuki catches up and wants to talk to Hotsuma. When Hotsuma refuses Yuki grabs his arm and forces Hotsuma to show him his past. Hotsuma loses control and his fire powers come out blazing. Then Hotsuma remembers how Shuusei got the scar. Hotsuma decided to kill himself one day but Hotsuma jumped in to pull back from despair and got injuried in the process. Hotsuma manages to stop his fire from seriously hurting Yuki and Yuki tells Hotsuma he is not a monster. Luka and Shuusei were watching the scene and were satisfied with the results. Luka knows that Hotsuma is still hurting and Shuusei is sad that Yuki was the one who could heal Hotsuma, not him. Hotsuma and Yuki return to the house to find out that Shuusei has disappeared and not even Tsukumo can sense him. Hotsuma gets all crazy and ends up screaming in the rain. THE END!

Don't interfere with our love!

This episode is part one of Shuusei and Hotsuma’s special love. Someone commented to me before that Shuusei and Hotsuma had a much angstier back story than Yuki and Luka. Without knowing the details of girl Yuki and Luka I would have to agree with that commenter so far. And since the hurt was not resolved (in fact it has multiplied by 43!) we will see more of their love next week. Poor Luka must be sad at the lack of attention, so soon after he found emotions and stuff.

Cue the romantic music!

I was slightly surprised at the how Shuusei got his burns. I think I was picturing something dramatic in my head. Well I guess saving your friend from their own firey suicide is dramatic but you know. I was thinking it was more like Hotsuma lost control of his powers during battle and Shuusei had to save his blond butt but no. It is shame that Hotsuma has such guilt since Shuusei burnt himself. But it is hard to fault either boy as Hotsuma was trying to protect people from himself and Shuusei was trying to save his best friend.

Hotsuma covers up the pain with anger and sandwiches.

However there are hurt feelings on both sides. Even if Hotsuma didn’t mean to his fire burnt Shuusei. Every time he sees those burns he remembers his “selfish” act and how he could have lost Shuusei that day. Shuusei tells Hotsuma to forget about incident, that it’s over and done with but I am sure it’s hard to forget such a tragic event. I mean, Hotsuma has to live with the fact he…well lived and the fact he hurt his best friend in his suicide attempt. Doesn’t excuse him from being a jerk to Yuki but this explains some of the attitude now.

Too sad for words :(

Shuusei suffers just as much as Hotsuma. I do believe that he is telling Hotsuma the truth about how he is not mad about the burns. I don’t think Shuusei was ever mad about that. He isn’t really upset about the fact that he has a scar. He is upset at why he has that scar, what it represents. Hotsuma was so depressed with life he decided he had no reason to live. So…. Shuusei wasn’t a good enough reason to not kill yourself Hotsuma? Granted I know when someone wants to kill themselves they often think that their loved ones would be better off without them. I am just telling it how Shuusei sees the situation. And I can see why he is so hurt over Hotsuma’s decision both to kill himself and then allow Yuki to heal his heart instead of Shuusei.

I love this and I am not sure why XD

But in between the angst and sad faces and misunderstanding there are some cute moments for Hotsuma and Shuusei. I don’t know, I like it when they all go around without shoes/socks on. it makes the scene seem really intimate or something. Hard to pinpoint what I like about that aspect. Sadly there were no naked conversations this week but there were younger Shuusei and Hotsuma looking at the stars which was cute. It was romantic when they were doing it in the present but you really could see how attached Shuusei was to Hotsuma at a young age.

Someone needs a hug!

Poor silly Yuki doesn’t realize that he is causing problems. But to be fair I would try to heal my friend’s heart too and wouldn’t stop to think “Hmmm I wonder how Hotsuma’s bestest best friend would feel about me healing an issue that involves the two of them”. Yuki saw a hurt person and wanted to hug them and make it all better. I do think next time he shouldn’t grab people/see into their pasts without their permission anymore. Or at least not do it on purpose. He already knows people don’t appreciate that aspect of his powers so to avoid getting yelled at again he should wait until people are ready to tell him the truth.

Luka my man where were you?! Where were you when Hotsuma and Yuki were having all their heart to hearts? I wanted to see your angry face. But instead you were being reasonable and understanding. XO What’s wrong with you?!

Parenting fail at 10 o clock!

Might I add that Hotsuma has really asshole parents. I am not sure if all the Zweilt Guardians have asshole parents but he sure does. One would think if they are getting paid for their kid they be a little more discreet about asking for the money. Although it is possible that they have seen the error of their ways and really wanted to make contact with Hotsuma. Maybe they were just worried parents that couldn’t control their fire starting son. But we are obligated to hate them since they “made” Hotsuma commit suicide.

Putting the topic of Hotsuma and Shuusei being madly in love with each other we had a slight bit of baddie business going on. Takashiro is helping out the cops with the disappearance of random high school boys and their teacher. This is somehow tied to another crime which is labeled Sleeping Beauty. It all seems rather random for now but it is all tied to the House of Divination and Kanata’s minions of darkness. It looks like Shuusei has taken it upon himself to go solve that crime alone so next week we will be seeing Hotsuma running after him to save the day. Oh and some girl likes Hotsuma.

That sounds healthy.

Overall I think the episode was pretty great. I really do need to cut back on my summaries though. X_X WALL OF TEXT! But it was so angsty and sparkly how could I not love this episode?! Next week Hotsuma will save Shuusei in the nick of time and tell the dumb boy all he needs is Shuusei and there will be more sparkles. It shall be grand and I shall rejoice. Until then I have my screenies.
