K-On!! Season Two Episode 10

My random opening sentence: I need to go grocery shopping. I want to have salad and yogurt and potatoes. Tired of mac and cheese, nuggets, and spaghetti all the time. Must make money, must buy foooooood.

Best line of the whole show!

On topic middle sentence: This episode was pretty great. We got some MUSIC, some random stalker, and a harsh punishment. There was not any turtle lovin’ this episode but had a Pokémon reference so that makes up for that over sight. Also yay for fun costumes.

Segue last sentence: This will contain spoilers, screenies, and fun. Enjoy.

People are not allowed to have pasts!!!! Thanks for telling me!

Episode Summary: Mugi is walking to school when she spots Sawako having an argument with a motorist. Sawako narrates how long and hard her day has been as she rests in the club room. Ritsu tries to mock Sawako about her past days as a crazy rocker but Sawako gets a phone call and excuses herself outside. The girls find is suspect and are more X_X when Mugi tells them about the incident this morning. The girls gossip about suspicious behavior of their teacher when suddenly they see Sawako. Interesting how the girls know how Sawako usually walks home but whatever. The girls have fun stalking Sawako thinking their teacher is going to go on a date. After Mio embarrasses herself the girls see Sawako meeting up with a woman and their ideas of a romantic date smash into the ground. But that doesn’t stop their spying as they follow the pair into a restaurant. The girls make a scene getting into a booth, ordering some dessert, and generally being alive. But Sawako never sees them so I guess that is something. The girls retreat outside and Yui whines about spending her life savings (14 dollars) but also mentions she recognizes the woman Sawako was with. She was one of the members of Sawako’s Death Devil. Oh and she is sneaking up behind you!

Yui couldn't say that at the table....why?

She takes the girls out to eat and introduces herself as Christina/ Norimi. One of their old classmates is getting married and has requested that Death Devil play at her reception. But when Norimi asked Sawako Sawako insisted that she is a teacher now and can’t ruin her image. After Norimi has a little fun playing Yui’s guitar she asks the girls to help convince Sawako to play at the wedding. Instead of walking home and thinking of a game plan the girls decide it is best to pass notes in class and act all silly. They eventually get caught and Mugi tries to take the blame as it is her high school dream to be punished in the hall. Only all the girls are sent outside and they discuss the Sawako situation further. They decide to go for the direct approach but are interrupted by some girls talking to Sawako. They decided that they don’t want to ruin Sawako’s image as a perfect teacher and won’t pressure her into playing.

Mio needs no wedding! SHE HAS MUSIC!

At the wedding Sawako goes to apologize for not playing but the bride acts all weird. Turns out that Yui has taken Sawako’s place in the band (with the other Light Club members as side dressing) and the rock concert is indeed ON. But Yui starts sucking and the death metal image of the band suffers. Sawako loses her mind and jumps the stage. She takes over for Yui and cusses out the crowd. She loosens her hair and belts out some of her old lyrics. The bride and her friend really get into the performance which makes the groom and the rest of the guests rock out as well. The Light Music club is a bit inspired/scared by Sawako. While she sings there are brief scenes showing Sawako having fun during her high school days with her band mates. But back in reality Sawako has melted as her image is wrecked. But then some girls want to take a rocker picture with Sawako and the future doesn’t look quite as bad for her. The Light Music club decides they need to leave a bigger impact on people too…but they will probably just eat cake. THE END!

Are we ever going to get a Mugi episode?!

We were all bamboozled with this episode. First we were tricked into thinking that Mugi was going to be front in center of this episode what with the Finland text. But when that was quickly shot down we all assumed that Sawako was the star and we were going to see her having a bit of romance. But alas that was not to happen. We were misled XO

Photobucket

A teacher getting a phone call?! UNHEARD OF!!!

But while there was no Sawako dating (only male teachers get to date…and usually it’s female students!) there were still plenty of laughs to be had in this episode. So maybe it was better there was no actual dating as I am sure it would have focused on Sawako pretending to be someone she isn’t and her eventually getting dumped.

Photobucket

See! Mugi is important!

The girls stalking Sawako was slightly crazy. She wasn’t really doing anything interesting besides checking her watch and looking around. But I will give the girls a little slack because 1) these kinds of shows thrive on nonexistent drama and b) Sawako was a little weird on the phone. If you put aside the fact that there was nothing worth spying on it was funny.

Logic is hard!

And really girls. I understand that you don’t want to put your purses on the ground. I am rather protective of my Harajuku Lovers bags myself. But you had your school bags and instrument bags taking up so much space. Put the instruments on the ground and the bags in your laps. XO Stop making things complicated. But I do commend them in actually buying something and not just getting water/cheap little drinks. Although it probably doesn’t matter as waitresses aren’t tipped in Japan.

Photobucket

Norimi has a nice sense of humor! XD

After some LYING ( I was like MOG HER NAME IS CHRISTINA!!!) the girls sit down with Norimi to find out what the secret meeting with Sawako was all about. Yui is the most observant person (shocking I know) and knew that Norimi was a member of Sawako’s old band. One of their classmates (..or person from another era if we watched to be dramatic) is getting married and wants their school band to perform at their wedding.

Photobucket

They both look like cool people to be friends with.

I would like to take a moment to declare how awesome this bride is. There is a great possibility that the bride was a silly fangirl during high school and I find it endearing that she wants to incorporate her favorite band in her wedding. No doubt this bride had pressure to have a proper wedding but she didn’t care. Funny how the bride wanted to embrace the past as a positive thing while Sawako is so worried about people finding out about her past and using it as a negative.

Photobucket

Yeah stop goofing around when we are passing notes!!!!!!

I found the note passing thing funny and annoying at the same time. Funny due to the fact Yui doesn’t know how to take anything serious and that Ritsu likes to draw stupid stuff. Annoying because I remember being in high school and having to be the one to help pass notes to other people when I was trying to study!!!!...But then again I did my fair share of passing notes so I will stop being a hypocrite for now. XD

Photobucket

I love Mugi...

Mugi’s dream of standing out in the hall being punished was so endearing! I thought she was just being a good friend by taking the blame for the whole note passing thing. But she had another motive for the martyr act. She wanted to stand outside the classroom as a bad kid. I think the entire this is a punishment thing was lost on Mugi but I shall forgive her. Also it seems like Sawako sent the girls outside to humor them as she knew that they wanted to gossip. A rather ineffective punishment. But Mugi was SO CUTE!!!!

I think the girls could have worked a little harder in trying to convince Sawako to play at the wedding. But maybe they were being grown up and mature about honoring their teacher’s wishes. It’s one thing to tease Sawako about her past and another thing to make her stress about losing her job. Good job girls in having respect for your teacher.

Photobucket

She looks the part but really...just really...

X_X So…Yui was messing up on purpose on stage right? That was all staged to make Sawako lose her mind at her band’s name being tarnished right?! :( Come on Yui, I thought you grew up a little. I do like that she can laugh off mistakes and doesn’t fall apart but get it together girl!!! Also I think the other Light Club music members should have had better roles than being eye candy. Nice eye candy but still.

Photobucket

Unleash the Kraken!!!!

Whether or not Yui messed up on purpose or this was all a part of her grand master plan Sawako had enough. Death Devil was getting made into a joke or at the very least something cute to laugh at. Something had to be done. And that something was…Sawako taking down her hair which signifies she is CATHERINE and it is time to rock. I really enjoyed Sawako losing herself in the music. If she wants to be the proper school teacher that’s fine. But there is no reason why she can’t embrace her inner rocker. There are many sides to people’s personalities. As long as those different aspects don’t include murder and mayhem don’t be afraid to show who you are.

Photobucket

I wish to hug that man!!!!!

When the bride’s face lit up it was magical. She was taken back to high school and it was fun watching her experiencing that. But then…her new husband. He cracked me up! His bride and her friend (bridesmaid?) started rocking out and he was like WAIT I am confused. You could tell he wasn’t expecting a rock concert and that he wanted to act proper. But then he did the best thing ever!!!!! He was a supportive husband and started rocking alongside his new bride. This marriage is going to last a lifetime people. That was the cutest thing he could have done and I am so impressed. Yes he looked a little awkward but I don’t care. You are a good man groom.

Photobucket

See? All is well!

Of course after the concert Sawako melted into a blob and is convinced her reputation is over. I do think it’s sad that a teacher can’t have a little fun outside of work but what can you do? However Sawako is worrying too much. Maybe the other teachers care but not her students. Sawako is more popular than ever with her students. Which is what I thought was going to happen! Who wouldn’t be impressed with a former rocker was their teacher? She should have been telling everyone that from the beginning.

In the end everything worked out. Our Club Light members had a silly time, Sawako got to play with her old band mates, and the bride knows now her groom is the best person EVER! In other words a great episode. Not sure what is going to happen next week as the previews were a little vague. But I bet it will be hot? Just guessing. XD

Being bamboozled never felt so satisfying. I'd still like to see a Mugi-centric episode, of course, haha.

The bride and groom were really adorable (esp the groom when he got up and started cheering) and I'm glad that K-On!! took the time to even illustrate that moment - insignificant though it was. It was also nice to see those few flashbacks of Sawako and her former classmates when they were in Sakura high because it really ties to where our current girls are now in life and hopefully, in the future, they'll still be together.

...I was quite cheesy in the end there, wasn't I? So close...

blindability- I really think there should have been more flashbacks to Sawako's "glory" days. She certainly has talked about them enough. But...if we had more flashbacks we wouldn't have seen the cute bride and groom being adorable so you can't have it all.

Cheese is good. XD As much as the girls tease Sawako deep down I think they know soon they will be out in the real world too and that their tea parties are coming to an end soon.

And where is our Mugi episode?! WHY MUST WE SUFFER?!
