Summer 2012 Anime Line-up! My picks!

Behold my lovely readers! It is almost time for the Spring Anime Season of 2012 to hit the road and make way for the EXCITING line-up for Summer. Exciting folks. Such amazing things.

Summer of fun? Or bleh?
Or not. XD It feels rather weird waiting this long to make a review/preview post…but maybe that is because I did my other posts way too far in advanced. In any here are my picks. The yes pile and the maybe pile. I don’t feel the need to list all the shows I probably won’t watch because…I probably won’t watch them. Of course this makes my title a bit misleading……

Yuri Yuri Season Two
Photobucket
This time...with musical notes!
Synopsis: Four fun-loving schoolgirls take over the former room of a tea ceremony club for their own "Gorakubu" (amusement club). (Same as last year).
So I remember last year rating this on the meh side. But after reviewing all of the Summer Anime 2012….yeah folks. I remember rating it WOOHOO K-On!, okay A Channel, and meh Yuri Yuri. Maybe I didn’t give it such a fair shot because I was comparing it to other slice of life shows with cute girls. But that is easy to do with the overdone genre right?
Still I remember it being semi enjoyable at parts. Especially Kyoko and a certain main character being ignored all the time. Chinatsu was annoying though. I don’t know, I didn’t give Kimi to Boku a second chance so why am I giving this show another one? Because I can folks. And Kyoko was fun. Mainly that I think.
Number o episodes: Unknown. Also I don’t know how to make the music notes to symbolize the second season.
Airing Date: July 2, 2012
Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate
Photobucket
This sounded better when there weren't boys involved....
Synopsis: Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate follows the protagonist Yūki Ōjima, who attends Takafuji Private Academy, a large school with over 6,000 students. Yūki is a member of the Food Research Club along with seven others, including his childhood friend Chisato Sumiyoshi. The members leisurely spend their time in the club not doing much. When the election of the next student council president comes up, the front runner Satsuki Shinonome proposes that clubs that have no merit should be sorted out and abolished. The Food Research Club seeks advice from the current student council president Yakumo Mōri, who suggests Yūki run in the election as an opposing candidate. Yūki learns about the issues facing the school and decides to run in the election.
Um….I read another synopsis of this show first and watched the little preview video. THEN I read this synopsis and saw things on Wiki. Things suggesting things. Like in the first synopsis I read it made NO mention of a guy. Or if it did it was in name only and I didn’t assume it was a guy. So I thought this was going to be my cute girls having fun show. Nope it is going to be some adaptation of a hentai game with one dude having sex with all the girls in the club. Oh and plot. And then there was disappointment.
Of course I might be overreacting. There have been SOME shows…a few shows anyway that were based on hentai games and made into harem animes that I felt were okay. Kanon being one of them. So maybe it is not a total waste of time. And the concept of someone actually going through the school and getting rid of all these HAPPY NOTHING CLUBS is interesting to me. Like oh someone actually has eyes. So I don’t know folks. Don’t know indeed. A big maybe folks. The concept seems interesting. Will give it a chance.
Number o Episodes: Not known but 6,000 students sounds amazing.
Air Date: July 6, 2012

The art style looks different in the video preview....
Synopsis: It’s been several centuries since human beings declined due to the step drop in birthrates. The most prosperous species on Earth are “Fairies”, 10 cm tall creatures with high intelligence. I became an UN arbitrator between the humans and the fairies and returned to my hometown to help my grandfather. I thought my job would not be a tough one and visited one of the fairies’ habitats to say hello to them but…..
But what? This show I feel has been advertised more than any other show so maybe that is part of the reason I put it on my list. But after watching the preview I might be changing my mind. The art doesn’t speak to me. In a way it reminds me of Madoka but worse. I loved Madoka though. Maybe it won’t be that bad. It just looked like an acid trip. Very minimal I think. I don’t know just not my style but I will know more after the first episode. Willing to give it a chance.
As for the story….I don’t know. XD This was obviously made for the Japanese people. Declining birthrate indeed. The fairies look like little people and not cute pixies (or what the hell they were in the Snow White movie X___X). It might just be too cute for my own good though.
Number o Episodes: 12
Air Date: July 2, 2012
Sword Art Online

See? Video games DO kill.
Synopsis: The only way to escape is to 'clear' the game. Death in game means actual 'death' ----
The ten thousand who have logged onto the as of yet mysterious game 'Sword Art Online' using their Nerve Gear have been forced into this perilous death game and are trapped inside.
Protagonist Kirito, one of the many gamers, has greeted this 'truth'.
He plays as a solo player in the giant castle that is the stage for this game ---- 'Aincrad'.
To meet the conditions of clearing the game and leaving this twisted virtual world, he must get through all 100 floors. Will Kirito have what it takes to clear the game, or will he die trying?
So many maybies on the list! Now this one is a maybe because I am already watching Accel World and this sounds familiar to it. Not saying they copied it unless they can make up animes at the speed of fast. Just sometimes genres come in cycles and right now it seems to be the time of the computer anime shows.
Okay found a much better synopsis so I could give a better opinion. Now it makes more sense why someone would play a game when could really die if they lose. So now I am interested in why this is taking place. I mean how many people try out a new game without knowing anything about it? Like downloading an app to your phone or whatever? So this concept makes sense to me. Not so clear on the castle bit but 100 floors. X___X Yes will give it a chance.
Number o Episodes: Not known

Not technically falling in love with your sister...
Synopsis: Remu's sister-in-law, Shiki, skipped grades and entered a high school in the academic city "Okinotori-island Mega Float City (OMFC)" when she was 14. One day, Shiki confessed to her brother via Skype that she was talking to him directly from the cyber space and her real body had been kept in a water tank filled with a culture medium. It's called "Body pool" and Shiki connected to the network by nanomachines implanted in her brain.

Remu was surprised but he accepted her decision until an accident called "Early Rupture" happened. The network server got overloaded and users' minds were lost in cyber space leaving soulless living bodies in the Body Pools. In order to bring Shiki's mind back, Remu visits her apartment in OMFC and there meets Shiki escaped from the hospital. But the girl tells him that she is not Shiki and she happens to have taken over Shiki's body.
Oh look another compute anime. If I pick this up I could be watching 3 shows about computer games folks. And I am not a computer expert. XD Would that mean more confusing terms for me? And really folks one must really shop around when looking for synopsis. Once again this was the more interesting and detailed one I found. The one I had previously was…nothing. X__X
This synpisos explains that Remu is trying to rescue his sister while someone else is in her body. This will obviously lead to drama when this someone will have to “die” if he wants his sister back because he obviously will fall in love with her and blah blah. Technology gone wrong. Biblical term for the accident. Will give this show a whirl.
Number o Episodes: No one knows anything!
Air Date: July 2012. DUH!
And that seems to be it. With Hyouka and Accel World spilling over I will have plenty to blog right? Even if I add in just a few shows. Oh and that Hiiro no Kakera potato princess show that I have neglected. Not jammed pack like most people seem to be saying but enough. And enough is good enough for me. XD

Sword Art Online is written by the same author as Accel World. According to other people's testimonies, it's much better, so it's a must watch for me.
:-)
I am not going to watch Yuru Yuri because I haven't seen the first season. Instead, I am going to give Kokoro COnnect a try.

Sword Art looks good, other than that I think I'm just going to go back and watch some old shows that I missed like Blue Gender, Turn ∀ Gundam, and The Tales of Symphonia OVA's. I also started reading Fate/Hollow Ataraxia and that's taking up a bit of time now.

@Gatx375
Where do I go to read Fate/Hollow Ataraxia ??? Please DO tell, I'm dying to find it out....

Anonymous said...

On second thought I found it, never mind. ^_^

Eternia- Well that makes me feel better. So it will be natural to make comparisons between the two obviously. I really like Accel World so I wonder how much better things can get. XD

Gatx375- I always say that I am going to go back and watch old/uncompleted shows and I never do! Such a slacker. Hope you have better luck than I do. I need to read all the mangas in my room before I can justifying buying more.

Anonymous- XD The Fate series is so huge. So many different / and what not. Rolling in the dough I am sure they are. Glad you found what you were looking for though.

Gatx375 said...

Actually Anon, I installed the game, I wasn't just reading the scripts on the TL wiki. Installing Fate/Hollow Ataraxia was a bitch. AppLocale helps, because now I don't have to switch my administrative language to Japanese to play the game, AppLocale could only be installed through command prompt. Then getting the NoDVD crack to work was hell also. That involved me installing the game using the crack, uninstalling it, then reinstalling and it somehow magically worked. Then the biggest disappointment is the translation patch which is only 52% complete =(

But I still have all the files, if you need the AppLocale installer, the NoDVD crack, or the patch I can give you them.

@ Gatx375
Thank you for your offer; I just want to read the translated novel.
Sorry to hear those troubles creeps on your games. That really sucks.

I think I understand 20 percent of that game talk. XD

:( <- 'Tis my sad face. I expected you to cover Hakuouki Reimeiroku since you've done all the others...but then again...maybe it's for the best. Although, there will be no Chizuru in this one!

Christina said...

Ally- No Chizuru? This is relevant to my interests! It is basically a prequel then? How all the hotties got together and them never wearing shirts? But it would still be sad...knowing what will happen...decisions decisions. X___X

AllySolvedAProblem said...

Haha. It's something like that. Only they add a new boy with blue hair...can't outshine Saito, of course. :)

Christina said...

AllySolvedAProblem-I have yet to catch up on shows I planned on watching this season. Might have to kiss Saito goodbye until the break between Summer and Fall. X___X

I love how the late episodes of koi to senkyo to chocolate leaves me kinda sad and emotional...
just like clannad...

btw I heard a good piano tune on episode 11 around 9 minutes..

Anonymous- I thought that Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate was going to be a straight up harem show and be...well special. But every five minutes someone is having a horrible past and I am like what is this?! X___X More like Love Election and Therapy!!
