Kobato Episode 6

This episode has reached maximum Tenchi approval. Proceed with caution.

Yay for happy feelings and great episodes!

You know how I might have complained a wee bit about the lack of THE OTHER PLOT? And how the nursery loan sharking issue was not getting mentioned enough? So what does this episode do? It slams both plots center stage and it was almost too much to handle. YAY ME! Yay us really! The collective us that reads the manga and watches the anime of course.

Kobato's personality shines through even on the phone and only after 5 words.

So Kobato forgetting her purse in the room was a bit too much of a plot pusher but I shall not complain. Besides it fits Kobato’s personality. They are really focusing on her being clumsy whereas I see her more shattered brain in the manga but both are endearing.

That person of course if Kamui if he got to grow up and wear lame clothes.

The important thing is that Kobato has had contact with THAT PERSON. And that person’s voice was spot on. He came off slightly creepy but someone who could charm the ladies. He sure had Kobato falling all over herself to apologize. But that just makes Kobato Kobato and I love her for it. I like how Ioryogi didn’t call her stupid or slow. He is allowing the information to come to Kobato and not making a HUGE deal out of it yet.

Kobato still doesn’t have all the pieces yet but that’s okay. Her not knowing is even better. It will make the reveal that much more dramatic and sometimes I think it is better for Kobato to process things a little more slowly anyway. XD It’s obvious to everyone that Ioryogi is going off to investigate the loan sharks/nursery. Kobato is better off worrying so she can get in good with Fujimoto. Or at least not as bad.

Can I stab him now?

Fujimoto came off rather jerky when he found out Kobato took the loan shark phone call. He should have been a little bit more concerned that Kobato was harassed on the phone. She has nothing to do with this shady business and even if she gets on his last nerve he should want to protect her. Not RARW do not say anything because Sayaka is a fragile butterfly crap. So not impressed with his butt.

I sense a conspiracy....

The trip to the park was cute but slightly useless. No one got their heart healed and the pretend drama with one of the kids being “lost” was eye rolling. I thought the little girl was going to have a sob story that Kobato could heal in her special way. That maybe her mom was sick and finding a four leaf clover would make it better and Kobato would give the kid hope. But the kid only wanted to make Kobato happy. No healed hearts but I guess we don’t want kids to be miserable right? Kobato had enough on her mind anyway without having to deal with 4 year old drama.

The big YAY of this episode is the discussion of the other world. WOOT! Yes the events were slightly out of order and a tad rush but at least we got it. That makes me happy and dance in the street!

I am not sure why Ioryogi is concerned about the nursery. I would think he would influence Kobato to drop the whole nursery thing anyway since it is not yielding a lot of hearts…..candy. But for some reason he wants to support her despite all the screaming and fire balls. So Ioryogi goes off to see his friend Mr. Bear. Mr. Bear has a real name but I am far too lazy to remember names.

Deny more please!

Ioryogi and Mr. Bear know each other from a previous time. A time in which they weren’t animals and had different bodies. And that Ioryogi had a bit of power over Mr. Bear. And from the sounds of things it is Ioryogi’s fault that they are in this situation. Mr. Bear doesn’t seem very angry which is surprising. I would be tearing his head off and not doing him favors but that’s just me. Of course everyone is curious on what Ioryogi and Mr. Bear use to be and why they are being punished. Spoiler alert: We only know SLIVER more in the manga so we shall on wait impatiently together. XD

And the universes come together again in CLAMP.

Oh and I saw you XXXHolic universe. You can’t hide from me.

So after Ioryogi spends some time with Mr. Bear and asks to find out info about the nursery situation Ioryogi makes him way home with his food. MMMM FOOD! But before he can make it back to the 10 by 10 hole in the wall Kobato loves he is attacked by another creature. Say hello to Ginsei, the angry looking pokemon animal!

If Mokona and Zangoose had a love child...

I actually like how he is drawn in the anime. I think Ioryogi is a bit…too cute in the anime but Ioryogi comes across just right. XD He also alludes to the fact that Ioryogi caused him trouble and there is a long brewing blood feud. But not much gets discussed as the two simply fight and there is a bit of stalking off. I think it would have been stronger if Ginsei had been introduced sooner but beggars can’t be choosers okay!

I can't remember his name either. XD

So Ioryogi is still trying to make it home with him nom noms when Mr. Bird stops him. Okay Mr. Bird has a real name but again I am lazy. He gives Ioryogi the information Mr. Bear dug up (rather fast) and flies away. :( The scene was cuter in the manga and a lot longer too. BOO Mr. Bird BOO!

Ioryogi doesn’t tell Kobato what he knows. He lets her talk about her day and her four leaf clovers as he thinks about what Mr. Bird told him. Which wasn’t much. We only are told that Sayaka’s father is the one who got the loan out and the loan shark leader has a connection to Sayaka. I think we were told much more in the manga but that’s okay. Slow and steady. It will build and the story will make much more sense. At least we know that Ioryogi knows that something is up.

That was a lot of plot for a tiny little episode. It left me feeling happy. It had the right about of manga material and anime original stuff blended together. It made sense and had a bit of everything in it. So next week should be just as awesome right?

Kobato Chapter 16c

Ah Kobato. The manga that is updated once a month with only 16 pictures. Yet I look forward to a new chapter every month because I am that in love with CLAMP. That and I think they have put a spell on me to be a crazy follower no matter what they put me through. So yay for a new chapter and BOO for another 30 days until the next one comes out.

WISH is taking over Kobato this week XD

The funny thing about this Kobato chapter is that it's not even about Kobato. It is like WISH the epilogue. Which is fine and dandy. XD I kinda wanted a follow up to this story anyway and it kinda ties in with this universe. It's just a little sad because now we have to wait another month to get any dirt on Kobato. CURSE YOU CLAMP!

So on with the spoilers for both WISH and Kobato. And lots of pictures. Woot for pictures.

More clueless heroines? (Heroes?)

Ginsei establishes that Kohaku is an angel thus she has no need for Mr. Bear's food. She (he?) informs Ginsei that the food is not for her but for Shuichiro. Ginsei wants to know who Shuichiro is and for some reason Kohaku can't come out and say who he is at all during these 16 pages. Bad Kohaku for putting the crazy animal through more craziness.

But that does make me wonder how SPECIAL of a friend Shuichiro is. I mean after all this time can't Kohaku just say Shuichiro is her (his?) boyfriend? Lover? Or is CLAMP forever going to use the phrase "special person". Maybe it means more than I think it does. But for me I rather use a definitive title and not be so vague with my relationships.

Everyone in any CLAMP manga needs a hug.

Mr. Bear tries to explain to Ginsei that Shuichiro is a doctor and suddenly it's cue the sad music. Are you serious Shuichiro? You are still a doctor and you still aren't putting Kohaku first? Sadness fills my heart. But in the end it does make sense. Shuichiro was meant to be a doctor and help people no matter how many times he splats and comes back. And that is why Kohaku loves....that is why Shuichiro is Kohaku's special person. Kohaku admires how much dedication Shuichiro has to his practice and patients. So she puts up with being lonely because she knows this is Shuichiro's calling and she wants him to be happy.

Someone is out of the loop and not liking it. XD

Ginsei freaking out some more about not knowing who Shuichiro is. This happens like every other page. I guess he is freaking out since he knows everyone in Heaven, Hell, and the other world and has no idea who this Shuichiro is. Angry creature is angry and homicidal.

Say the magic words and he is off!

Ginsei finally learns that Shuichiro is some random human and the subject is sorta dropped. Kohaku is there picking up some food for him yet Ginsei is unimpressed now. That and he isn't really thrilled about working at Mr. Bear's shop anyway. Only when Mr. Bear mentions Ioryogi's name does Ginsei get into gear and actually wrap up the food. Me thinks that there is a bit of a rivalry going on with these two. But just a little tiny one. XD

Stop making Kohaku look old!

Ginsei stops having an attitude problem and asks the obvious question. Kohaku is an angel hanging out in a shop with Other World Beings. That is probably grounds for her to be turned Chibi forever and forever. Oh but wait. Kohaku has been banned from Heaven remember? X_X I really didn't think it was going to be forever but that does make sense. In a way. Or at least she should stop being an angel so she can live her live out naturally with Shuichiro and they can both die and be together in heaven. As non humans. I swear it all makes sense in my head. I just want everyone to be happy.

Of course the next page Kohaku explains that the punishment has been over for a long time and she chooses not to go back to heaven because of Shuichiro. So the question still makes sense. And why wasn't Ginsei made aware that Kohaku was punished? I thought the three worlds were connected and gossiped like crazy.

Basically that was my face too X_X

Ginsei just keeps asking great questions. I really like that Ginsei is asking what the readers are thinking. Or at least this reader. I guess this page wasn't much of a question but more of a statement. Either way he makes a point of saying that Shuichiro will only live a max of 100 years and Kohaku nods. Oh and also says that she has been parted from Shuichiro 5 times now!

I do remember saying that I wanted to know if this WISH storyline was before Shuichiro died or after. I got my answer. I just didn't imagine that it would be WAY after. I mean even if Shuichiro has a habit of dying at 25 each time he is reincarnated (which means Kohaku would get 9 years with him each time before he splats again) we would be at a minimum of 100 years in the future. And WISH wasn't set in the distant past. And Kobato isn't set in the way future. So um...yeah.

Of course that is really not the point but I am special.

This sounds so sad and lonely....

The real point is that Kohaku has waited all that time to wait for a person who just going to die and leave her again. Then she has to repeat the cycle over and over again. Tsubasa loop?! Again in a way that makes sense. But reading about it makes it much more sad. Is Kohaku really going to do this until the end of time, meeting Shuichiro again and waiting for him after he dies? Such a sad existence. :( I would hope the "god" of this universe would take pity on Kohaku and change Shuichiro's existence to angel stance after some point. They really deserve to BE together instead of just spending brief periods of time in the same place.

5 times?! I just don't know...

That is real devotion. Crazy serious devotion.

But at the end of the day it's about Kohaku and what makes her happy. If she wants to wait for this person to come back time after time that is what she should do. Yuko's voice plays over in my head about how people's wishes might not make sense to us or might not make them happy in a way that we think they should be happy. But this is what Kohaku wants to do so she should be supported for that. And Shuichiro should love her more because of what she does for him.

It does mess with the mind a little bit. Not every Shuichiro will be the same as the original. Each will be raised differently and none of the new Shuichiro's will meet Kohaku in the same way. The first Shuichiro made a connection with Kohaku while all the new Shuichiro's inherit Kohaku. Again it might not make me happy or make sense to me but this is CLAMP. As long as the soul is the same people seem to be happy.

That's okay Ginsei. Most of us don't get it either.

After all is said and done Ginsei still doesn't get it. Which is what I have been saying all along. Sometimes when people are so devoted to an issue/person it is hard for people on the outside to get understand the situation. And I think that Ginsei isn't very familiar about the whole love issue anyway so it is twice as confusing to him. But Kohaku just smiles as she must get this a lot. There is a bit of small talk and she finally receives her packages.

Originally I had thought that WISH was going to play a bigger role in Kobato but now I am not sure. It seems like things got wrapped up quite nicely in this chapter. :( That makes me sad but at the same time Kobato should be about Kobato. Cameos are nice and mentions of Heaven/Hell/The Other World are necessary. So we might not be seeing Kohaku for a while. At least we know she is okay and happy with her decision to stay by Kohaku's side.

Well that came out of nowhere X_X

Oh look it's Kobato!!!! Finally she makes an appearance. She must have just left divorce girl and is running to make it to work. She is deep in thought over how emotions can change over time. You can love someone so much and that emotion can disappear. So Kobato wonders if it can work the other way around. Can you hate someone at one point and learn to love them? Cue Kobato turning the corner and looking at Fujimoto.

Silly Kobato. She never hated Fujimoto to begin with. But she probably did dislike his holier than thou attitude he likes to give out. She is now wondering if what she has been feeling lately towards him, that emotion she couldn't put her finger on, could be love. The scene is so serious and pretty...you know the next chapter is going to be Fujimoto making her mad about being late and she is going to go AS IF I LOVE HIM. It will be lovely and confirm to all that it truly is love and it will take 58976 chapters to get to that point. And we will enjoy every minute of it. XD

So that is all for Kobato this month. And it wasn't very Kobatoy at all. But it was lovely just the same and I shall look forward to next month's impending Kobato abuse. XD See ya in 30 days!

To Aru Kagaku no Railgun Episode 7

This episode was excellent! And not just because Touma was in it! Even though episodes that have Touma in them tend to be more excellent. I really wonder why that is.

Yes my post is late and I am a slacker. I didn’t even get dressed today. XD Just anime, manga, and Hello Kitty Online all day long. Oh and Taco Bell. Ah to be lazy.

I really did call it last week when I said episode 6 was just laying the ground work for a better episode this week. That is the only way to explain the craziness that is Misaka not being able to do Kuroko’s job. Which I am still bitter about but I will be okay. Ice cream heals all wounds. So maybe that will be the pattern from now on. Lame “fun” episode that leads into a serious one. Even if next week looks fun and serious…

Let me displace my anger and hurt innocent people because I am a dumbass!

That being said the enemy was lame. Good thing we didn’t need him to be amazing or anything. We just needed the situation to be serious and our main cast to be on their A-game. Who cares about this IPod wearing freak anyway?

We have a hostage situation here people!

Why such disdain for this loser? I am not faulting him for getting picked on and beaten up at school. That shouldn’t happen to anyone. And I am not going to victim blame or anything like that (even if it is going to come across like that). However if he is going to get bullied all the time by the same people and not tell the police/Judgment….it’s not Judgment’s fault. They can’t be everywhere at once and if they are not made aware of the crime how are they supposed to prevent it? They can’t. I mean, yes I go on and on about how lame and useless they are but he is not allowed to. He is blaming them for something that couldn’t be helped. Putting aside the fact that they shouldn’t be dealing with issues like school bullying and garbage clean up THEY CAN’T DEAL WITH AN ISSUE THEY DON’T KNOW ABOUT!

So yeah Mr. Misunderstood…person? X_X I forgot what his power is called. Did he get a name? Probably doesn’t matter because he is a loser who doesn’t deserve a name. Using cute innocent stuffed animals as bombs. What is up with all the plushie abuse? Trying to punish people who didn’t even know he needed help. I recall Misaka trying to help him last week and he pushed her aside. So sad little emo kid who no one understands…you suck. Sorry you get picked on at school but if you don’t tell anyone nothing will change. Unless you blow up those bullies. Try doing THAT next time.

It's not easy being normal.

There wasn’t much of my cute Saten this week. But she is the one who brought up the Level Upper legend again (even if it was never discussed if that is what nameless boy was up to) so that’s important. But I really liked it when she and Misaka were sitting down and talking. Of course it could be construed as Satan having a pity party for herself. I choose not to see it that way because I love Saten and therefore I am biased. Satan just feels like the odd man out because she has no power and she isn’t in Judgment and is left out in the cold. :( I would feel sad too if I was surrounded by “awesome” people and I was normal. *hugs for Satan*

Are you telling me Kuroko is the one who cracked the case....out of ALL those people?!

Kuroko was actually tolerable today. Wait a second as I go outside and look for some flying pigs. But since she was busy researching the same exact crap over and over again she didn’t have a chance to annoy me. XD But I am sure that was all necessary for the topic of the computer systems being off about people’s powers so it’s acceptable.

She would be last on my hit list personally.....

Uiharu is a useless slug. I really liked how she acted all important when she evacuated the building and went looking for the bomb/bad guy. Didn’t she get on Kuroko’s case about going in alone and not waiting for back up? And what exactly was she going to do anyway? Meh. I rather Satan be the Judgment member…but not if she would be useless like Uiharu.

Why yes, yes it is Misaka!

Misaka is Misaka. I want to go on the record and say that I thought those pajamas were cute. XD It’s something I would wear. But I guess when you are a young girl it is more fun to wear “sexy” sleepwear and be all adult like. But then you grow up and get married and it is easier to wear your husband’s/boyfriend’s shirt to bed (and men like that. Or if we don’t wear anything to bed at all). So you GO Misaka.

Of course I love Misaka when she is giving out justice.

I like Misaka how spends time with her friends and supports Kuroko and her “job”. I like how she has a huge crush on Touma and she doesn’t even know it. XD I like how she is ready to come to defense of anyone in danger. And I like how she slugged that loser in the face. XD

Touma is not amused as usual.

I still love Touma. I didn’t think I would miss his epic speeches but I do. :( But this series is not about him so he doesn’t have time for epic speeches. He is just there to provide laughs and a love interest and to save Misaka from plushies that explode in her face. If Misaka wasn’t so blinded by her “hatred” for Touma she could see that he is laid back like her and their sense of justice is pretty much the same. XD But she is too in LOVE to see that and it is kinda fun to watch.

There is a reason that people haven't caught on to Touma's power yet right?

So…this episode was pretty great for me. This is how I imagine the series would be. A bit of pervy for the guys, some action, and a lot of fun. Keep up this pace please and also if Kuroko were at accidentally fall off a building and die no one would miss her. Honest.

Next time on Dragon Ball Z!

Technology is great. Without it we wouldn’t have advancements in medicine, communication, and travel. But with every advancement there comes a drawback. Cars pollute the air. Medicines that save lives can have awful side effects. And the more we rely on technology to communication the less real life interaction we might have with people.

Instead of handwritten letters most teenagers these days send e-mails or write short messages on walls of various social networks. You don’t have to visit with a person now that you can have a web cam conversation. Even the phone is taking a bit of a hit with the new wave of texting. Who needs to talk to someone when you can send them a short message with a cute little XD at the end of it?

Who needs sunshine anyway?!

Why am I talking about this? Because sometimes I think I spend too much time talking on AIM with my friends instead of hearing their voices. Sometimes I think I am too dependent on the internet/computer. Sometimes I think I am a bad friend.

Yesterday was not one of those days. And yes this story has to deal with Dragon Ball Z.

HOW CAN THIS BE?!

My wonderful friend and I were talking on AIM yesterday talking about random things. I complained about my job and my silly puking cat. My friend then started talking about her “wonderful” job. She used to have problems with her store manager but things have changed apparently. The district manager’s assistant has been creating a lot of problems in their store. The names have been changed to protect the stupid and the innocent.

Me=Tenchi

Friend=Bird, assistant manager at the store

Store Manager=Bonnie

District Manager= Debbie

District Manager’s Assistant= Mary

Another assistant manager at Bird’s store=Cindy

Tenchi: Wait wait, so now someone else is trying to get you in trouble?
Bird: Yes. Try to keep up.
Tenchi: What you are saying is Cindy is running to Mary and making up all these lies about you and Mary is writing you up on bogus violations?
Bird: Exactly.
Tenchi: And Bonnie, the lady you use to hate with all your heart and soul and was making your life hell at work…..is also being falsely written up and now you two are teaming up to tell Debbie that all this is crazy talk?
Bird: Exactly.
Tenchi: X_X How has Bonnie become the person you have to rely on now? That is simply crazy!
Bird: It’s like you have an enemy but one day down the line you realize that there is a bigger enemy out there and you have to pick your battles.
Tenchi: So…….what you are telling me is your life is Dragon Ball Z?
Bird: ?_?
Tenchi: That Bonnie is Vegeta. Of course the question now is whether Cindy is Frieza or Cell. God I hope she isn’t Cell.
Bird: Oh my God my life is over!
Tenchi: It might be over but it will take YEARS for it to end. Do you remember how long it took them to get to Namek? The stupid planet was blowing up for like 20 episodes!
Bird: I need a new job!
Tenchi: Well not until this arc is over. Ew Bonnie in spandex!
Bird: MY EYES!!!!
Tenchi: So Mary is an android. A little less spandex there. What does that make Debbie? Well besides stupid.
Bird: Doctor Gero. She’s created a monster!
Tenchi: IT’S OVER 9000!!!
Bird:….We are such dorks.
Tenchi: Personally I would be crying if I were you.
Bird: I laugh through the tears. But where is Trunks?
Tenchi: He lives in a future where Wal-Mart has taken over the planet. One day he will come back to our time to find out what went terribly, terribly long. It will all start with your store.
Bird: How long do I have to wait?!
Tenchi: Dude I just told you Bonnie is Vegeta. I guess this means that Cindy is Frieza if there is no Trunks yet.
Bird: I’m not Goku.
Tenchi: No one wants to be Goku. Do you work tomorrow?
Bird: No but I will probably get written up again just the same.
Tenchi: Now is the time to train. Preferably in zero gravity.
Bird: I think I’ll do laundry.
Tenchi: There’s a lame scary movie on scifi.
Bird: Are there tank tops?

In case you were wondering that is how all our conversations end…by not ending. XD We are slightly random.

So while I might not see or “talk” to my friends as much as use to or would like to…we still manage to have a great time together. Or we are dorks in any given circumstances and through any media. But that’s all the time we have for today. We are off to find some Dragon Balls. I don’t think everyone is making it out of this one!

Kobato Episode 5

KOBATO! You have returned to me! Don’t ever leave me again even though the holiday season is behind us. If you are going to leave me for a week you better warn me in advance. I don’t think I got my weekly dose of cuteness last week. But I still love you.

Yes it was! Even though I hated to go a week without Kobato this episode was almost worth the wait and I usually don’t say things like that. XD So yay for patience paying off.

Should you curl up with a good manga or watch another episode?

This episode had a bit of manga plot and original anime content! And while the manga aspect got pushed to the side for the anime friend of the week it still made a good showing. And it discussed one of the HUGE points I was harping on so what more could I ask for?! XD Tenchi is a happy girl.

I am often very polite to the people who are threatening me. Very.

So now everyone knows the major plot that I wanted to happen now. The whole phone call/gangsters calling thing. When they first played the scene with Sayaka getting the phone call I was like ABOUT TIME! And I was pleasantly pleased that the thugs came around in this episode. That does sound kinda creepy but I like how they were moving along the plot and not leaving us hanging with just that phone call.

Had they just stopped at the phone call I might have been RARW. I knew what it meant but to only anime viewers it would have come across as random and full of questions. So thanks for giving us manga readers what we wanted to see and the anime only crowd should have less than 10 questions now instead of 589. XD

Sayaka was a little…boring during the phone call. That and her lipstick was a bit distracting. XD Ioryogi was more of a THIS IS AN IMPORTANT MOMENT factor than Sayaka was. Kobato makes the scene less serious with her “I can’t read a children’s picture book” craziness but the viewer comes away with the fact that Sayaka is in deep debt and people are harassing her on the phone.

ABUSE! PLUSHIE ABUSE!

The real meat of the “plot” occurred when Kobato arrived at work late (I hear you girlfriend!) and she found some hooligans kicking out a tricycle. And stepping on a plushie. Seriously though don’t be stepping on plushies. A bit of my heart broke when I saw that dirty toy. Plushies are meant for living on bookcases…away from dirty germ ridden kids. XD

But back to the subject at hand. Thugs picking on kids so they can get their money for their boss. Bad form. And really not effective. I am not sure WHY the kid had to be the one to think about alerting the cops but whatever. Personally if I was going to shake down someone for money I would leave them threatening notes in their car and let them know they aren’t safe anywhere. XD I am pretty awesome of course. But yeah, these adults needed to think about calling the cops even if they owe the MAN money. Thugs are thugy at the end of the day though.

Fujimoto needs to eat a sandwich.

Fujimoto didn’t get to do that much ass kicking which was disappointing. But he didn’t do THAT much in the manga either. Ioryogi actually taking part of ass kicking was amusing and really added to the scene. Sayaka standing their politely asking them to leave was….annoying but necessary. The shining star of course was Kobato.

Fear me....and my hat.

Okay so her standing there asking them politely to leave was futile but she had real strength. Some stupidity but real strength to get involved in a dangerous situation with people she doesn’t really know about a problem she is not a part of. She was scared but knew she had to protect her new little family. She might have redeemed herself a little in Fujimoto’s eyes. It might have been nice to have Fujimoto protect Kobato a little more so everyone could go WOOT PAIRING but later. More development would be better.

So yeah, that was the manga plot. There is only one HUGE other plotty thing that needs to be mentioned. It will make Kobato seem less happy happy and give the situation a bit more seriousness instead of her being….Kobato like. XD Surely it shall come.

Hi I have anger issues! Heal me.

The friend of the week was “an old dude”. I am sure Mori is in his late 30’s mid 40’s but in anime land that is OLD people. Like one foot in the grave old. Look at all those exaggerated wrinkles ya’ll. XD But yeah for someone who is an adult and has real adult problems that don’t involve umbrellas.

The way Kobato found Mori was a bit of a stretch. Kobato was trying to read to the kids at the nursery and apparently picture books are hard people. I am not sure how Kobato was reading it wrong nor did the episode ever explain how she was missing pages or…whatever. She just was. She had to suck at reading the book so Ioryogi and Fujimoto could make fun of her and so Mori would have an excuse to get mad at Kobato so she could heal his heart. Roll with it people!

Kobato needs to fear strangers a bit more....

Mori comes off as a random jerk at the beginning. His jerkness doesn’t last for long as I think he was thrown by Kobato’s suggestion he come live with her. I can’t blame him of course. For the anger and the thrown offness. Kobato is kinda odd and he is a bit bitter about his past. Not that he should take it out on someone who is reading a book but we need him to be angry!

A dose of reality in a fantasy anime.

So why does he hate a book about fireflies so much? Once upon a time when Mori wasn’t so old and bitter he was a writer. He had a cute girlfriend who wanted him to write a story about fireflies and she would draw the pictures. He did so but he was a busy man who couldn’t take the time to go on dates with his girlfriend. All she wanted to do was go see the fireflies that she loved so much. One day Mori decided he was done being busy and he agreed to go see the fireflies. That day his girlfriend got hit by a car and died. Thus he hates the book.

I’m not going to lie…this made me pretty sad. I think this scenario hits home to a lot of people. We are all so busy running around doing things that we think we need to do when what we really need to do is spend time with our loved ones. Yes Mori had a great career and all adults need to work to put food on the table and have a roof over their heads. But sometimes it’s okay just having enough. You don’t need to be famous or have a job that puts so much pressure on you that you don’t have time to appreciate what all your hard work gets you. Yeah that sentence made sense. But the moral of this episode is don’t take the time you have for granted because it could all be over tomorrow.

So sad I am not going to make any "glowing" jokes.

I feel bad for Mori. It might be easy to say YOU SUCK why didn’t you go look at fireflies with your girlfriend? But we have all been in his situation. We all have done something similar to that before and for most of us we have the chance to spend time with our loved ones later. He just wasn’t lucky enough to be one of us. So there lies his bitterness towards the book and how it all makes sense.

Pretty scene is pretty.

Kobato managed to heal his heart by accident…as usual. And really it was Ioryogi who compared Mori to the lonely firefly. She had no idea she was taking Mori to the exact same place that his girlfriend wanted to take him. She is actually quite lucky that things turned out the way they did. Mori could have gotten completely upset and lost his mind over being in the spot his beloved wanted to take him so badly. But he didn’t and Kobato put her whole heart into healing him.

Although it would have been better if Kobato CRIED when Mori told her about the dead girlfriend. It would have been BETTER for the future…not saying anything more.

But Mori is healed and that is all that matters. And I am not sure if Kobato really DID all the much. She just forced him to a place where he could forgive himself. Which is fine. I don’t think she has to do a lot to heal people. That is true in real life. You can say a kind word to someone and that is all they need to make it through the day. So I find this scenario very plausible and enjoyed the story.

Even if I did think the storybook at first was “A City with No People”.

So that was today’s episode. It was pretty great. Not when Kobato got her hair pulled but the other stuff. XD It is possible to tie in manga storylines with anime originals (coughcoughShugoCharacoughcough). I look forward to next week and it BETTER be next week. I got my eye on you Kobato!

To Aru Kagaku no Railgun Episode 6

Behold the best part of the episode!

Well then. At least next week’s episode looks interesting? Yay for small silver linings?

This entire episode was a bit hard to swallow. It just seemed very unlikely that Misaka wouldn’t be able to cut it as a Judgment member. Then we got to witness what a real Judgment member does on a daily basis and I find it more unbelievable. So yeah…bleh.

The message for this episode is always recycle!

This episode started off with promise though. Small mini explosions were taking place throughout the city and Kuroko made it sound like things were getting serious. Uiharu also added some important details about children’s objects being used as bombs. And anytime there is confusing “scientific” talk in this show it is a sign that the episode will be serious business.

I was lied to. The entire episode was one big MOG Kuroko has such a hard job and Misaka can’t handle a broom and a few kids. Yay me.

Kuroko goes on and on about how hard it is to be a member of Judgment. And that Misaka wears childish underwear and has weird interests. Kuroko should die in a fire. But to an extent I can see the thinking behind what Kuroko was talking about. Misaka is a citizen. No matter how strong she is she shouldn’t take part in “military” matters. If she wants to get involved and rescue people she should join up. In theory of course.

Maps are hard no sarcasm!

But since Judgment is run by a bunch of kids and some of their tasks consist of picking up garbage and babysitting kids while they find her backpack.... Yeah only in theory. Considering Uiharu and her sad power are a part of Judgment I am not sure on their ability to defend anyone. People like Misaka should be recruited into Judgment, not people like Uiharu. And they should be police force of the city not the unpaid labor/handymen. It is bizarre.

Of course this could all be a mistake on my part. Maybe the Anti Skills people are where the real action is at and Judgment is a stepping stone to get to that department. But it is hard to think I have the entire situation wrong when Kuroko is often seen being bossy around the constant hooligans of the town. I just find the whole situation special.

So putting aside how dumb Judgment might be…MISAKA! Why do you have to fail so hard? You were supposed to prove Kuroko wrong and show her that being part of Judgment is a piece of cake. But since that is not the way most animes go I was expecting too much. Of course Misaka was going to fail and has discovered a new found respect for Kuroko. Because that is how the scenario must go. That and my life is unfair.

It is an honor and a privilege to be unpaid help!

But SERIOUSLLLLLLLLLLLLY Misaka! SERIOUSLY! :( I have decided you failed at being a part of Judgment because Judgment itself sucks. You were expecting something hard with how Kuroko always complains and acts like everything is serious all the time. You weren’t expecting to sweep up some mess and to be treated like crap. What was up with that? This is supposed to be one of the greatest cities in the world and they can’t hire someone to clean the streets? What about those cleaning robots?! What about the SHOP KEEPERS IN FRONT OF THE SIDEWALKS! I might have walked away from the stupidity of the situation had I been her.

Can we see more of these Judgment people? Without the bombs going off in their faces of course.

And if I had any hope in Judgment it went out the window when Misaka was mistaken for a Judgment member. X_X I felt like I was watching a cheesy sci-fi movie or a soap opera. The office looks really, really SMALL. Wouldn’t they be informed of someone new? Or at the very least ask to see some form of ID?! X_X Such insanity. I guess all is well since they weren’t doing anything super duper serious. That and the fact that Misaka is probably stronger than that chick.

And useless!

Uiharu tried explaining the situation to Saten on why they were wasting their time looking for a 5 year olds purse. It’s because that most people who live in this city are students separated from their parents and they all need looking after. This is me rolling my eyes. Maybe they should focus on making life easier for all the students instead of finding purses. You know, like stopping all these random attacks/robberies and creating kids who go around making bombs out of toys.

You will all PAY!

I think that is the only redeeming factor about this episode. That is lays the ground work for a more serious episode in the future. Of course the “enemy” looks like a moron and will have a dumb reason for doing the things he has done. If he has been bullied he should target the bullies and not innocent people. But I do like that there was a serious moment at the end of the episode. Not the whole someone might have DIED (which we all know he didn’t because no one ever dies in this series) but the fact that Judgment was doing something that was important and didn’t involve an ice cream break. SO…it might be worth it.

If Kuroko had stopped there I might only hate her instead of HATE her. But she didn't and I still do.

I could have done without the naked Kuroko near the end of the episode though. I really could have. It was fun seeing her crushed like a bug but still no nakedness. She could have taken what Misaka said and actually acted like a normal person but that is a bit above her capabilities.

And I did not appreciate Kuroko trying to be the new Touma. NO EPIC SPEECHES FROM YOU!
