Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate episode 9

Hello there my lovely readers! It is almost time for work. Maybe I will break my leg so I don't have to go. Wait then I can't walk around theme parks...okay maybe left arm instead? I can type with one hand right?

Look at me I am super important and all the girls love me!
But just in case I decide that going to work is better than going to the hospital let me get this episode up and blogged. Up now is Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate episode 9. Spoilers for Chisato being a brat for most of the episode.

Mainly because I was suspended for doing something horrible.
Episode Summary: Chisato has a creepy dream where she is offering her dead brother a chocolate bar. When he doesn’t wake up Chisato startles herself awake from this nightmare. Pretending to be okay Chisato skips over to Yuuki’s room and tells him it is time for the real campaign. Yakumo has pull together all the members of the Safety Commission to update them on the situation. Since they cannot run in this election their best bet is to allow Yuuki to win this one as the ruling party has the best chance of winning. Since Yuuki is an independent SORTA backed by them…it might end well for them. Chisato and Yuuki are running late as they had to print off their flyers. They rush to reach the rest of the group when Yuuki runs into a young lady. He apologizes and introduces himself but she had no idea he was running for student council president. He lays it on thick and Chisato gets pissed about it later. Yuuki then spots Satsuki and Hazuki having a disagreement and Hazuki walking away. Yuuki is confused as he thought they hashed out their problems last night (X___X) but Satsuki is mad because she thought she could have won the shogi game and Yuuki was the prize. Chisato and her jealous self slither up but Satsuki tries to convince Chisato they weren’t talking campaign issues. To make matters worse Hazuki then thanks Yuuki for his help last in making things right.

Hurry! We must make plans now or all will be lost!
Yuuki and Chisato finally reach the rest of the group as they are campaigning when students arrive at school. Nozomi made a stage and it is time to get to work. The other two candidates are set up and doing things to help with their election as well. With the arrival of Hidaka the newspaper…person things are going well for Yuuki. Well until some girls come on over to start picking on Isara. They take her flyers and basically hate on financial aid students. Yuuki rushes to her aid but Chisato pulls Yuuki back, afraid that it will hurt his election chances. Good thing the Safety Commission peoples come around and bust the girls up. Yuuki makes sure that Isara is okay but she says she was more concerned with the Safety Commission. She along with Hazuki and Hidaka explain a situation where a student was basically harassed out of school because the Safety Commission accused her of a crime that she didn’t commit. That eventually lead to the downfall of the Safety Commission who usually has a bad rep for protecting the financial aid students. Everyone agrees that financial aid students rock so Yuuki wants to put in a protection clause into his manifesto.

Are there any nonevil organizations at this school?!
Meanwhile the girl that Yuuki ran into early makes her way to the Safety Commission room, revealing herself to be Yuina, the person the Food Club was just talking about. She was the President of the Safety Commission until she got suspended for this financial student incident. Yuuki is making the rounds visiting other weird clubs. Chisato tells Yuuki not to including helping financial aid students in his speeches as that would hurt the votes. They are in the minority and they can help after the election but not before. Chisato accuses Yuuki of trying to help them because people were praising him for doing the right thing. She then starts crying, saying that Yuuki was leaving her behind. Yuina and Yakumo talk alone in their room. She wants to use Yuuki as a puppet for her own causes but Yakumo explains that Yuuki won’t go for that. Yuina gets super creepy and implies that she might back the general affairs department instead since their interests are similar. Chisato and Yuuki join some of their friends in a celebration of a successful day. After indirectly kissing Michuri Yuuki is teased. He pretends to run away from his friends but a truck rushes by and it appears he may have been hit. Chisato then has a freak out moment as the situation reminds her of her brother. THE END!

You might get more attention that way though...
Well then..that episode was all over the place wasn’t it? Didn’t really focus on one girl. It sorta…hopped around and allowed Yuuki to talk to everyone in an effort to make Chisato lose her mind. Yay for everyone right?
Photobucket
I can see how this would be traumatizing.
Chisato and her dead brother seem to be the underlining focus on this episode. Everything Chisato did or saw made her think about him. In the preview for next week I believe it shows that Chisato was close in age to her brother at the time of his death but that is next weeks drama yes? And I may be wrong. But I guess it doesn’t matter how many years it has been if Chisato hasn’t dealt with the trauma properly. One wonders why she even joined/became president of the Snack Club anyway if the mere mention of chocolate could trigger memories? Out of respect for her brother or out of guilt?
Photobucket
I can only depend on you!!!
Either way all these memories are coming at a faster rate and everything seems to trigger them. This might explain some of Chisato’s…..craziness later. She lost her brother and has relied on Yuuki way too much and the thought of all these other girls talking to her man is a bit too much to bear. She is emotionally unstable and all these other girls are taking away the one thing that keeps her grounded. Still if someone told me a few days ago they weren’t in love with me I might cool it with the jealousy act and be a bit pouty for a while.
Photobucket
Oh hi I am Satsuki and I was in the episode for 5 seconds weee!
I think there are other people in the show, some members of the club…..but I forget their names. They run around powering random pieces of stage lights and generally do nothing. That’s okay, not everyone can be the main characters. XD Got to have some members of the club that aren’t besties with everyone else. But what about Michuri? She is supposed to have love interesting status and I think she has said 20 words so far? What is going on with that? Fade away little cat, fade away.
Photobucket
Yuuki does not believe these changes either.
Nozomi actually made something useful this week so I almost passed out from shock. Yume didn’t do anything sexual or suggestive to Yuuki so maybe HE died of shock and he has been replaced with a clone or something. Hazuki didn’t appear drunk this episode so I am left all dazed and confused people. Dazed and confused.
Photobucket
Does friendship surprise you?
I am not really sure what is up with Hidaka, the newspaper reporter. Do not be suppressed! I would consider that to be dramatic but given what I have seen thus far in this show maybe not so much. Hidaka has decided not to be suppressed into gender roles. Or maybe likes both the uniforms. The issue was not brought up in this episode which is too bad. Perhaps that issue is way too deep for this kind of show, especially with dead brothers and crazy evil baby stealing families taking up a lot of space. I am glad that Hidaka has made friends with the group though. Be accepted!!! Although maybe it is a clue that Yume doesn’t react to Hidaka?
Photobucket
Just leave this school now!
So while Yuuki was passing out flyers Isara’s daily dose of suck was experienced by all. Usually she is picked on in private and that makes sense. Who the heck is stupid enough to bully someone in front of a large group of people? Oh these girls because apparently most of the students at the school don’t care about financial aid students. GOT IT! I don’t want to go on and on about Yuuki doing the right thing because that is what he should have done. Just do the right thing and don’t accept praise or recognition. But when one is in high school and no one else is doing the right thing it can be hard to take that step yourself.
Photobucket
But I am mainly worried about me!
Chisato was a bit disappointing on this issue. Do I understand what she was trying to say? Yes. Yuuki is after the most votes and by supporting an issue most students don’t have a problem with he could alienate a lot of voters. She was right to pull Yuuki back from the argument. She should have pulled the flyers from the girls and guided Isara and Yuuki away. While it wouldn’t have been the best solution at least it would be a nonverbal way of saying I don’t like what you are doing. But then Chisato took it to another level of selfishness. Yuuki is running this campaign to save THEIR club. Take a stand later to get the most votes. Bleh. Bleh indeed. While I understand that gets more votes the part that thinks with my heart says stand tall in what you believe in. But yeah..Chisato crying that she is losing Yuuki because he cares about others is a bit eyerolling.
Photobucket
Don't question my questionable motives!
But let’s rewind a bit about the Isara torture of the week. This time people were punished for picking on a financial aid student, something that Hazuki and Hidaka point out doesn’t happen that often. In terms of….well bullying this was pretty minor. A few stolen flyers and some unkind words? So why now? Oh you mean the Safety Commission has a shady history with protecting people and overstepping their bonds? HMMMM so why come to a financial aid students help now?
Photobucket
Wait so she got in trouble over the student leaving and not the girl who got hit by a car?
Enter Yuina. For some reason Chisato and Yuuki don’t know who Yuina is despite being the true head of the Safety Commission. As Hidaka and Isara tell the tale she threw her power around based on flimsy evidence and caused a student to leave the school. Add in the fact that someone got HIT by a car and Yakumo took the fall? Not sure I understand that. Well if he was aligned with the Safety Commission he is connected to Yuina’s actions but still. Yuina should be the most responsible and yet she is walking around acting like nothing happened.
Photobucket
If not I am backing the other guy!
Or maybe I don’t really understand what happened. Who does Yuina really back up? I got a bit lost on that part. Too many names for me folks. She seems to want to crush Yuuki as he doesn’t support her puppet agenda. That might be going a little too far but what do I know about this crazy show? Let Yuuki be president for a year and plan your take over for next year. Problem solved right? Apparently not. Maybe she wants to get rid of the financial aid students all together and Yuuki might mess that up. Yakumo seems to be stuck in the middle on this issue. Yuina is crazy. Probably.
Photobucket
But Michuri was finally getting attention!
Let me see did I cover everything? Chisato was a crazy jealous person, everyone talked about financial aid students in front of one, and we met Yuina, someone I probably won’t want to meet with in real life. There was a scene with Satsuki but that was mainly just to make Chisato and nothing really important happened there. So until next time….who will suffer next week WEEE! I bet it will be Yuuki and his trip to the hospital because he got "hit" by a truck.

In my opinion, Chisato was definitely the highlight of this episode. You are correct with your analysis that she is depended on Yuuki too much, and her survivor's guilt is affecting her reasoning and sanity. I mean, in the morning she called Yuuki her brother's name (Daiki---I think). It makes me wonder if Chisato's parents had her see help? Is it really shameful to see help in their society? What if Yuuki decided to move away for college/work? Will Chisato be able to handle such a departure and not turn insane with dependency? Or maybe by the end of this of show, she would have recovered from her trauma and become an independent girl. Her jealousy and dependency gave me an uneasy feeling with a hint of possible foreshadowing of Yuuki and Chisato. The feeling of watching that frightening and infamous anime School Days (I didn't watch it personally, but from reading the brief synopsis of other people who did watch it and a little summary from anime sites, I would be having nightmares).

Man, the school politics are way too serious >:( It's all cloak- and-dagger with these students. Way too serious for me to suspend my belief of high school elections.
I feel this sort of backstabbing politics would be best in a Tom Clancy novel. LOL. Now that I think about it, Tom Clancy should write and direct an anime. It would be the funniest "East meets West" anime ever! I'm talking soldiers, shady politicians, corrupt governments and magical high school girls! XD

The ending was such a good troll. But the next episode preview ruined it all. Because Oojima was shown to be alive and well. I wonder why can't they remove the next episode preview just for this once?

Some other blogger made a reference to School Days too. It's only natural, seeing how creepy Chisato's behaviour is, during this episode. I haven't watch School Days anime, but in one of the bad ending in the game, one of the heroine attacked our main character using a chainsaw, because he has chosen the other heroine; splattered his guts all over the place. It's really fucked up and unexpected turn of event, you can't help but wan't to vomit.
Let's pray that Chisato won't do the same when she's not chosen.
:-)

@ Eternia

Hi Eternia, first Anonymous here.

What happens in School Days is indeed disturbing. I'm not surprised since School Days is considered a deconstruction (realistic consequences) of the anime harem genre. Or how Puella Magi Madoka is considered the "Neon Genesis Evangelion" (also a deconstruction) of the magical girl genre.

In regards to Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate, I really believe Chisato will recover from her trauma, become an independent person, and not go "School Days" on Yuuki. But who knows what the ending is when the beginning has attempted murder :/

It's early morning right now. Can't sleep :(

HAHA XD We are so morbid us anime folks. But X___X It is true.

Anonymous- Maybe I was wrong when I said Yuuki was a bit harsh with his turning down of Chisato. Maybe he has woken up and smelled the crazy and was trying to be direct with her. Although I doubt that is the case and I sense he said that just to "deny" his real feelings for her and he will pick her in the end.

But if Yuuki didn't pick Chisato she would probably go insane. Maybe this show isn't meant to be so deep but suck after suck keeps happening to these kids and yet there doesn't seem to be a responsible adult in the bunch to help them out. Clearly Chisato has issues. X__X Her behavior is not romantic to me and I hope otakus don't find Chisato cute. She is sad. She certainly has reason to be sad but....yeah she is a bit hard to watch.

Eternia- I KNOW! I was like oh snap Yuuki just got creamed by a truck OH WAIT HE IS WALKING AROUND IN THE HOSPITAL! It should have said to be continued or something.

And I hope that this doesn't end School Days style. Although that would come out of left field. I didn't want the anime either, just the highlights of the main dude dating/doing everyone and then the deaths. And since I am a sick person I looked up all the deaths from the game (or light novel, can't remember which it was).

But...I can see how is
Chisato becoming unhinged. Wonder why it didn't happen sooner as the club is full of girls. Guess Isara being more pathetic than her threatened her needy Yuuki act. :(

Elior- I have fallen super behind on this show haven't I?! X__X Maybe he can forgot running for office. Or maybe he can forget that Chisato is insane and they can get together that way. XD
