Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita episode 9

Two posts in one night? I am on a roll! Of course Kira, Princess of Distractions, is trying to keep me from being productive! She keeps trying to lay across the keyboard. We are on a pretty good sized bed and yet the only space available in her little mind is across my lap. Or maybe she is dying from lack of attention. It is not like her Daddy came home or anything. Not like she hasn’t seen him in weeks. She can’t be spending time with him no no no. Must be momma 24 hours a day every day.

It is hard to understand when they are sad since...they only have one facial expression. XD
Episode Summary: There are some fairies holding….a meeting of some sort. Some sort indeed. They are talking about the upcoming election and what their platform should be. Something about an equal distribution of sweets. Another fairy walks in and they throw his desk at him. X___X Ms. Fairy receives a letter from the sad fairies…basically about nonsense. Something about hot cocoa and chapped lips. Grandfather and his gun loving self comments on how the Fairy population has been increasing lately and now the new fairies are being bullied. So Grandfather orders Ms. Fairy to take the new fairies somewhere safe. The fairies don’t seem that excited with being escorted to their new place. Ms. Fairy is too busy taking in the lake view to notice that docked separated from the mainland. They all hop in a boat and make it to an island where I guess the boat disappears because Ms. Fairy says they are stranded. The first day is spent in misery, with no hope and very little resources on the island. Despite it not being a great place the fairies decide to make this their new nation and make Ms. Fairy their Queen. Soon (like second day soon) the gift her with a beautiful dresser. She says it is pretty but it would have been better had they made her a bed. From there things just get insane.

On the road to crazy town!
The fairies start multiplying at an alarming rate. Ms. Fairy gets her bed and awakens to them building a house around her. She is taken on a train ride around her empire. Most of the items are for her benefit but the fairies are very happy. Soon there are crop farms and pineapple electricity plants. Ms. Fairy gets updated from pajamas robes to a new dress to finally a palace. Ms. Fairy takes to her new role as Queen rather fast and beings to pass out sweets to all her loyal subjects. One fairy is able to create a plant that produces candy which helps Ms. Fairy out. Soon the fairies want to build a monument to Ms. Fairy and she gives her blessing. Only they all lose their minds. They build all the past famous monuments around the world and use up every resource on the island. There is no room for crops and the land suffers from runoffs. It begins to rain horrible and Ms. Fairy calmly realizes this is the beginning of the end. She soon realizes from some random fairy that the reason it has rain so bad the past few days is when the fairies have no motivation they produce a tiny little rain cloud. Well soon all the tiny little rain clouds turn into a huge one and the island….I guess collapses. Ms. Fairy is soon rescued by Grandfather and Assistant. She learns that there were rare spiders on that island and worries for her safety. Ms. Fairy realizes her time as Queen is over…and now there are more fairies to find a home for. HOW FUN! THE END!

Have we noticed that he is always playing with guns?!
So…I have decided what this show is about. See one has to remember where this show is produced and it’s primary target audience. That would be the Japanese people. Now what is a potential problem facing the Japanese people right now (well beside the recession but that is hitting everyone so…)? Population growth. Way too many old people and not enough young people. So really folks….this show is about what would happen to the world (or the world as the Japanese people know it) if they didn’t do something to fix the population right now.
Photobucket
Are you scared yet?!
Can you see it now? Have I put the idea in your head? Can you close your eyes and see….ah it all makes sense. All this insanity is meant to SCARE people. Like um no I like my modern technology and I don’t want the planet to be overrun by scary little new humans. IT ALL MAKES SENSE! This show is SUPPOSED to be scary so we all will be like time to repopulate and protect the environment. Come with me my lovely readers. Feel the comfort in knowing the truth.

Rejoice for we are insane!!!!
But if my theory is wrong…then this show is just insane. And the one solid rock of sanity in this show…cracked into little pieces. Well not in an insane way but more like WOOHOO ride the insane train. There was literally a train folks! Now one would argue that Ms. Fairy wasn’t all that sane to begin with, that she didn’t act all that bothered around the insanity that was most of her life. But maybe this was her breaking point. In any case it was difficult to watch.

X___X What the hell is this all about?!
X___X So can we talk about the bullying please? I mean Haruyuki over in Accel World seems to be getting enough bullying for everyone in the anime universe. But fairies?! X___X Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised. They are creepy little devil monsters. I might have nightmares about them or something. Always smiling. But the new fairy almost being hit with his own chair. That was so cruel. :( Poor little fairies having to ask for protection.

This boat is NOT here folks. Not here at all!
I am not really going to ask why Ms. Fairy couldn’t have gotten the boat and paddled back. I mean….they were in a boat. I am not going to ask that because this show is insane. Also I rather ask how the fairies multiple again. I thought it was about the snacks but maybe it was being productive. I can’t remember. So I will ask that again and someone will answer and I will be a bad blogger and not respond to comments for two years. YAY ME!
Photobucket
And what are we going to put in this?!?!?!
Things got insane…rather fast. Like oh we are stranded on an island so we fairies will make our Queen….a dresser to put her clothes. I mean I guess Ms. Fairy should have been more grateful but I would have been WFT where is my bed!? But ask and ye shall receive. Ms. Fairy got an entire island made solely around her existence. I thought that she would have been uncomfortable with all the attention. That is how she usually acts right? But nope she took to the role as Queen rather…fast and was woohoo wearing dresses and talking to her subjects and what not. That was the weirdest part of the episode for me.
Photobucket
Yeah this part was a bit much. Then again...so is this entire series so you know.
The fairies themselves were not weird…per say. Since I don’t know what they really are I guess them worshiping Ms. Fairy makes sense to them. And their progression of society was spot on. It was done at the speed of fast but…nearly believable. Almost like Minecraft. Like all we got are a bunch of trees and apparently some rare spiders but we can make everything! Everything in the world!
Photobucket
Um.....yeah. Overkill much?
I thought the downfall of the society was going to be the fairy that was able to make sweets. Like that would put Ms. Fairy position as she wasn’t the only one who could provide the noms. Suddenly they don’t need her anymore and they would turn on her. Silly me trying to make sense of this show. Obviously it was going to be something like oh them making random statues and what not causing the entire eco system of the island to fail.
Photobucket
Such sad little rain clouds! XD
I really liked the cloud of sadness that destroyed the island. Like when a baby laughs a fairy gets its wings type of crap. When a fairy loses its will to work a cloud forms. Poor Ms. Fairy. Her reign was so short but at least…..well I am not sure what positive came out of it. Her dress was sorta cute yes?
Photobucket
EFF YOU SPIDERS!
In the end Ms. Fairy cost the world some precious species of spiders, there are even more fairies that need homes, and Ms. Fairy in now classified as insane. Yeah….it is a special show indeed. And I am special for watching it yes? XD

It is interesting to see the symbolism in these faeries to humans as the rise and fall of their civilization.......then the depression. I always find it fascination that the faeries population keeps increasing (How?). I mean look at Day 3, there are already unemployment.

I think she took the role as Queen fast because there are free goods for her to gain, and all she need to do is making sweets.

Also, the Pineapple electricity is not madness. You can even make a light buble shine w/ a regular potato, so why no pineapple?

The fairies were simply hilarious this time:

Watashi: what happen to the other one?
Faeries (trolls?): he dead.
Watashi: there, there, there…..
LOL ~

I agree w/ Teabie, “the voices for the fairies… amazing. Never fails to amuse me that they are cute in every way, but oh-so-not-cute too.”

I’m not sure if there’s a specific metaphor at work here, but I was fascinated by the conversation between Watashi and the straw hat faerie, who confronts her about her decision to abandon the island.
Quotes from RandomCuriosity:
>>She reasons that it’s beyond saving, and it’s surely better to accept that and move on – to which a Fairy replies, “Would you say that about a sick relative?” It’s hard to escape the implications of that statement as it relates to our society and indeed the series title itself – “Humanity Has Declined”, indeed – though I’m not sure what Tanaka-sensei is suggesting as the right answer. Watashi can only plead “Don’t ask me that question!” – which in itself is a line of dialogue whose implications are hard to escape<<

This time, Grandpa provides the ultimate moral of the story in the final line of dialogue: “Learn to clean up the mess, Foolish Child”. For some reason this line really stuck in my brain after the hilariously depressing commentary on human culture.

Anonymous is definitely more smart than me, so I will keep it short.
Tenchi missed something important that definitely should be mentioned in an anime blog.
The author implied that Religions are invented by humans, as shown by the list of things to be invented by fairies. Such a dangerous tread. But most Japanese are atheists, so I think it will be fine.
:-)
If this anime were to be shown in Indonesia, this author will surely become a dead meat. Oh, I am somewhat atheist myself.

If you look at the OP closely, although in Japaneses, the book Watashi closes seems to be some sort of fairy observation journal. The pages are titled “Yousei-san Memo” followed by the title of the entry. The titles are (quote form Zannafar):
2. FairyCo’s Hairy Growth Drug
4. The Fairies’ Manzines
6. The Fairies’ Electromagnetic Waves*
8. The Fairies’ Means/Implements
9. Overpopulation** Stress

** -- More literally it would be “stress caused by the nature of a throng” (is there a word to express that in english), but Overpopulation fitted the episode more.

Anonymous- I think in episode 1 which is probably really episode 92 after this series has run its course explained how they multiple. Or maybe I made that up because this show is insane. X__X But even if the fairies hadn't ruined everything by making 8239743 monuments I am sure overpopulation would have done them in.

I am the kind of person who knows the car turns on, not why it is possible. So pineapples powering the TV would blow my mine.

Ms. Fairy was treading on some...thin ice with that exchange. But it really does go hand in hand with the title of the show. See I told you this show was a warning to the Japanese people. XD

Eternia- I really didn't know how to include the topic of religion in terms of this show. I thought Ms. Fairy would have mentioned it more but it was really just a passing idea and onward they went on train rides, palaces, and cookies from the gracious Queen. Perhaps the reason why Ms. Fairy didn't have much to say on the matter is religion doesn't exist in the future? Maybe if Ms. Fairy had said more on the matter I could have expanded on it but she was like MEH like the topic didn't matter to her. I do think if this anime was shown in the United States that line would be changed because kids thinking such things would be HORRIBLE! I mean...you can be religious and have decisions and exposure to different ideas.

Anonymous 2- It seems as if many things are missed on the first viewing of this show. It makes me feel better that Ms. Fairy is ACTUALLY doing her job instead of being tortured all the time. She probably wrote the book. But she should probably entitle it "Fairies: I want to kill myself". XD
