MOG tell us what the egg means already!!!!!!
Welcome to part two of Catching up with XXXholics! I had been hoping that Hakuouki: Shinsengumi Kitan would be subbed and up on my preferred anime website but sadly it is not up yet. So I might be a little unfaithful later tonight and watch it somewhere else. But at least I know that I can watch/blog Hakuouki: Shinsengumi Kitan on Tuesdays like I planned. Yay plans!!!!
But this Tuesday I wanted to blog the rest of XXXHolic so I could be all caught up. Sometimes when I fall behind on things it is easier to skip them rather than catch up and I didn't want to fall into that cycle again. So I put down the Pokemon SoulSilver and did some blogging. Go me.
This post will will contain the plot, yaoi fan girling, and slight speculations for chapters 202-204. You have been warned.
Can we have less of her please?
Chapter 202 was slightly boring. The Spider Lady is still hanging around the shop and wants Watanuki to play the shamisen. You know, the instrument made from a virgin kitten….:( But this is a magical shamisen. See it can walk around the shop because it can! It needs no explanation okay! Watanuki is a bit X_X about the walking shamisen while the Spider Lady laughs at his discomfort.
Haruka comes over and pays Watanuki a visit in his dreams. It is a bit odd how Watanuki spends so much time in dreams verses the real world. I wish it was a little easier to tell the worlds apart but maybe that’s the point. Watanuki is in both worlds equally so he sees them as normal. But yes Haruka comes over and Watanuki complains about his day and that the Spider Lady and company drove him crazy.
Glasses...for seeing?! SAY IT AIN'T SO!!
This leads to a conversation about Watanuki and his glasses. Seems that he no longer needs to wear them but he can’t or won’t take them off. He is still trying to hold onto his old life because he is worried he will forget a part of himself, like people forgot about Yuuko. Tis really sad when you think about Watanuki’s life, nothing being real and for him holding on to normal life means his glasses? Yeah the conversation was just sad. And I wish they would move forward already.
Are we seriously bringing this up still 4 years later?
The two talk more about Watanuki staying in the shop to minimize his affect on the world and Yuuko and blah blah. Which I guess isn’t that boring to the reader but as people in the manga I am sure rehashing stuff that happened 4 years ago every time they see Watanuki gets a little old after a while. But Watanuki plays a little song on his dead cat instrument and all is well. Show this happiness to Domeki too?
I'm sure you have a name little guy...
Chapter 203 starts off with the little fox creature visiting Watanuki to sell him some treats. I kinda suck at remembering names. But anyway the little fox is selling his own creations to make money to buy his father a present (an apron MOG amazing). The conversation is slightly boring and wastes valuable space. :(
This is how Watanuki says Happy Birthday.
Domeki comes over after visiting Himawari. Watanuki is his usual happy self with Domeki. He could have been a little nicer seeing how it is Domeki’s birthday!!!! but I digress. Watanuki talks about how this is a poor day for Domeki’s birthday and Domeki explains what the day means and the purpose of the Peach Blossom Festival. All in all a very boring conversation. Come on people this chapter is short make it interesting please!
A marriage proposal?!
So after Domeki explains why his birthday is on a perfectly good day Watanuki drops the subject and gives Domeki his birthday present. A RING PEOPLE! This is me and my yaoi mind exploding all over the place.
This is the reason why I wanted to blog these chapters.
Chapter 204 starts off with making Tenchi very happy. Domeki examines his present….and proceeds to try to put the ring on his ring finger. Ah CLAMP, trying to give us viewers a little bit of hope. Or maybe to pick on us readers. Whatever it was it was definitely in your face. But the important question is was Domeki being serious or was he picking on Watanuki? I hope that deep down he is loves Watanuki (although that may be the root of some serious pain) and he plays this off as a joke because this is how he talks with Watanuki. Spazzes are fun!
An actual bad thing?! I forgot what those look liked.
While Domeki is distracting us with the pretend yaoi Watanuki is smoking his pipe and the smoke goes outside the shop. Domeki looks at the smoke and with their shared vision they see a crazy…thing. Scary thing even. Watanuki isn’t that alarmed by the crazy thing and is like oh yeah, it’s there sometimes. Watanuki tells Domeki to put the ring on his index finger (much to Domeki’s sadness) and that awesomeness will happen.
As much as Watanuki hates Domeki being cool he sure gave him something spiffy there.
TADA! The ring turns into a bow for Domeki. This gets Domeki to move his facial muscles! That itself is a miracle people. Watanuki decides to be sly and let the scary monster in the shop yard so it can attack him. Yay for Watanuki taking unnecessary risks so Domeki can show off his new shiny weapon.
Domeki is good at being awesome.
After Domeki gets done freaking out and saving Watanuki, Watanuki explains that the ring is made from a peach true and takes on the shape of the person wearing it. So since Domeki can harness his power in an arrow and he used to do archery it turned into a bow for him. Shocking stuff people. I think Domeki was less than thrilled with Watanuki putting himself in danger. The conversation gets a little serious what with Domeki questioning if it was okay for him to accept this and Watanuki admitting most of the stuff in the treasure room wasn’t his. Oh and that Domeki might have to shoot him one day….Then Watanuki walks away with him broken glasses in hand.
Foreshadowing hitting you in the face!!!!
Watanuki doesn’t want to throw the glasses away due to sentimental reasons. He looks to find a box to put them in and opens up a special container. What is in that box people? Clow Reed’s glasses. Okay maybe not but they were seriously hitting at it. And while Watanuki was touched that Yuuko knew that Watanuki would need these glasses one day the theories were burning in my head. So it’s not looking good for Domeki aka he might Fei Wong Reed.
So the chapter ends with Watanuki thinking about Yuuko and looking like Clow Reed. He wasn’t much of a house guest to Domeki who is spending his birthday alone now. And that’s all we are going to get for a long time people! So I guess we will see what will happen in the next arc…in June. Hopefully it has something to do with that darn egg or I will scream! See ya then!!!
