Shingeki no Kyojin episode 21: The Absence of Hope

But we were supposed to win. ATTACK ON TITANS!

Hello there my lovely readers!!! So tired from work. X___X Zombie Tenchi. Well a fake zombie from happy skippy shows but a zombie nonetheless. Have an anime episode! Perhaps more will come soon. Up now is the uplifting show Shingeki no Kyojin. Spoilers for episode 21 being SO uplifting.

The first to fall.

Episode Summary: After another flashback because if this episode went one day without a flashback everyone would forget what happened....Eren is looking at dead Gunther all shocked. Oluo/Auruo ( I HATE SPELLING) pulls Eren out of the way as the cloaked Scouting Legion person is still flying around. Petra is the most upset about the dead Gunther as Erd has determined they need to keep retreating and not engage with the enemy. They have no idea at that moment if that is the Female Titan or someone working with her. Erwin and Hange however are putting all the pieces of the puzzle together. Or at least Erwin has and Hange is like MOG. First off Erwin thinks they didn't go hard enough, that the Female Titan was willing to go big or go home so Erwin has failed in that aspect. Second Erwin has figured out that the Colossal Titan also used Maneuver Gear to get away each time he destroyed the wall. Hange says that is impossible as Eren emerged from the Titan with no gear and missing parts of his uniform (um because those limbs got EATEN?!?!). Erwin says they were wrong to use newbie Eren as an example, as the other humanoid Titans are much more experienced. If the Female Titan is practiced enough to have the gear AND move after emerging from her puppet then....as if by magic BAM the Female Titan appears behind the rest of the Levi group. Shocked faces for all. Eren is like eff this I am transforming. For some reason everyone loses their minds and are like no Eren trust us remember! Believe in the power of friendship, we can beat the Female Titan because of your trust. Eren is like okay I will escape and trust in you. Eren takes off as the remaining three start to attack the Female Titan. Eren is very shocked they are able to coordinate attacks without words. He realizes that this is the trust thing that everyone has been talking about. They succeed in taking out the Female Titan's eyes. While they regenerate she presses up against a tree and protects her neck with her hands. Everyone starts hacking away at the muscles of her arms until they fall limp at her side.

Eren unable to cope.

Due to everyone going WOOHOO we are amazing they all fail to see that regeneration smoke is only coming out of one of her eyes. She opens her eye just in time to see Erd and chomps him in half. Petra is beyond upset and shocked and barely has time to save herself. Auruo (I give up spelling) screams at Petra to get away. The Female Titan then stomps Petra into a tree. Determined to make up for all this death Auruo actually makes what should be a killing blow on the Female Titan. Auruo was unaware of the crystalization process and his blades break. Soon he is broken and dead on the ground as Eren has watched this all in horror. Everyone is dead because of him. He realizes that Levi wanted him to make a choice that he could live with and clearly this was the wrong one. Eren transforms into Titan Eren in a fit of rage, blaming himself for everyone being dead but really it is the Female Titan who will pay. Everyone in the forest hears Eren screaming and Mikasa is like EREN?!?!?!?! and takes off in that direction. Levi also goes towards that direction, passing his dead team along the way. No one else really knows what is going on but it is discussed that whoever is the Female Titan knows that Eren is a Titan so they had to be around that fateful day. Titan Eren and Female Titan beat each other to a bloody pulp. They keep loosing body parts and having to wait for them to regenerate. At points in the attack the Female Titan looks rather scared. Like why are you doing this Titan Eren? Titan Eren is just full of rage but continues to dominate. Well most of the battle. Punches are thrown and it turns out the Female Titan really isn't that strong. They both stop to catch their breath when she catches Titan Eren offguard and chops his head off. She reaches over and bites Eren out of Titan Eren. Mikasa happens upon the scene just in time to see Eren get swallowed by the Female Titan. Mikasa cries for about 5 seconds and then sets to work hacking the Female Titan up. She does a good job at it but Levi shows up to take Mikasa aside, as her rage might mess her up. He notes that the Female Titan is moving slower and they should just follow her. He asks if Eren is dead and Mikasa stops, as she thinks Eren is still but clearly he was just swallowed by a Titan for the second time. THE END!

Second to fall.

Hit the fan, hit the fan! That is...shit! Shit for all. The happy feel good moments are gone. Gone forever. Not that they should have existed to begin with. Once the Colossal Titan showed his ability to take down the wall everyone should have been counting the minutes til they died. So maybe these small moments of happiness is all people have left. But for Eren....well...maybe Eren? i am sure the congrads and happy talk will happen AFTER returning from the mission. Not before.

Well not the real second to fall but someone Eren really knows well.

While this episode wasn't as censoring as it has been in the past...I would still like to see the gore. I can handle it I promise. Boobies good, blood bad I guess. In the manga (which...there is no point in reading that if you haven't by now. The anime is the same thing with better quality drawn people...) it was CLEAR that Gunter was super dead. Like weee my neck is barely hanging on. So Eren's outburst and wanting to stay near Gunter was not the smoothest move. Which I think...shows you have attached to people Eren gets. He is being portrayed as a monster when really he might have the biggest heart out of everyone. Thomas gets eaten and the first thing Eren wants to do is get revenge for his friend, without regard to himself. Everyone else fleeing from the murderer IS the correct thing to do, what Gunter wanted to do. But Eren was....just having a hard time understanding what was going on and I think he didn't want to leave his comrade hanging there dead.

That splat would be Petra not nowing.

I sorta...really feel bad for Erwin. He did make a grave mistake but has already understood what it is. I am glad he knows what it is but it came at the cost of a lot of people. And more people will probably die before they reach the gate. But yes. Erwin couldn't think of everything. He just assumed that the Female Titan would be unable to move after being pulled out of the puppet. That maybe he took a few too many minutes in realizing....hey maybe Eren isn't the best example of a humanoid Titan since he just found out he was on. However...it is odd that Erwin made this mistake since he has already figured out what the Colossal Titan did. Eren went to kill the beast and POOF it was gone. Maybe Erwin assumed that all the Colossal Titan did was transform and kick a wall down he have the energy to escape. That the Female Titan got the shit beat out of her and she wouldn't be able to move. But yeah..I think I would just assume that the if you got into the Titan puppet with the gear you will come out with it on. I don't know.

The realization he will not get revenge for his fallen comrade.

The point being Erwin realized his mistake and sent Levi out just in case he was correct. All of this minutes and seconds added up. Gunter is dead. And as the team escapes POOF the Female Titan emerges once again. Which I guess is a good thing. I mean if the Colossal Titan AND Armored Titan were with her then everyone would be dead. So she is clearly alone and everyone is just really, really screwed. So much smoke for one Titan though. Like BAM I am Captain Planet bitches look at me transform. I think everyone should have pissed their pants at this point but I guess this isn't the time for jokes.....even if they are easy to make.

After the 10th attempt I stayed with this screenie. It went too fast. But I assume you can tell what is happening.

I want to make it clear to all the dead people on the ground: It is your fault you are dead. You hear me. Levi Unit? ALL YOUR FAULT! All this friendship is magical crap is bullshit. Bullshit. Eren didn't know the plan and neither did you. Levi did though. I think if Eren has stopped and fought the Female Titan with all five of the Unit still there they could have tried and pulled out the puppetmaster. That is what Levi wanted right? It would still be following the plan, just not using all the wonderful pieces of ammo. But NOOOO Eren needs to be believe in them. Why not believe in himself? Why not let Eren show his worth to you guys and let him help? What is the worse thing that can happen, you die? OH WAIT! But yeah....it is their fault they died Eren. Well the Female Titan's fault. But they were so focus on trust that they couldn't see the blood covered trees through the forest. There is trusting someone and seeing how the situation is beyond repair and it is about trust...it is about staying alive.

To be fair they are the best of the best. Maybe if Levi and Mikasa had been there at that point there would have been victory. But there was not. Everything was slowed down and it made the viewers go LOOK OUT! Because it was clear that only one eye was being repaired. See the smoke?! But I realize that Eren didn't really make it that far and everything was happening super fast in real time. And that the three remaining Levi Unit members did kick some ass. Had it not been for the Female Titan actually being Alice from Resident Evil they might have won. Like look at me and all these powers I have. Does Titan Eren have any powers?! Poor Eren...he is pathetic. And sad. He was like MOG the power of friendship and trust does work. I believed in these people and they work so well as a team. This was the right choice. I made the right choice.

Joining the ranks of those who died in this mission.

Splat Splat Splat. That is the sound of Levi's Unit being taken out in the scope of 3 minutes. Well I guess he still has Eren but it is more like Levi owns Eren and not that he is a real part of the team. Maybe after the mission he would have been but now...yeah what squad? And Eren believes it is his fault. That is the sad part. Watching your friends die is horrible but thinking you had something to do with it...just...just no. I don't blame Eren at all. I wonder if any of them thought before they died..Eren was right. Eren will never know but at least when he is blaming himself he knows who is really to blame.

Just three minutes ago...

The fight Titan Eren and Female Titan was...well pretty brutal. And evenly matched. One would think since the Female Titan has been at this for quite a while she would be a little better at fighting. But hold on there Super Alice...you got all these magical powers but...you have no strength. Well she is a Titan so she has SOME strength. But she clearly has stamina, a magical crystalizing power, the ability to turn people into yoyos, and have an idea on HOW to fight. But she is more of a dodger. Letting Eren take the lead. I bet if Eren had been more focused on the battle and not in so much rage he would have won.

Got to stay the course. Even if that course will lead to more death.

Hot damn though Female Titan is hard core. And has emotions. It looks like she was upset that Eren was so pissed at her. Maybe it was fear, that oh crap he might win. But to me it didn't look like strategy, to make Eren Titan feel as if he had the upper hand and WOOHOO beat his ass. She genuinely looked hurt that Eren had no idea what she was doing. Why are you hurting me Eren Titan? Let me just knock off your head and EAT YOU. That will make you see my plan!

The eyes.....

Of course Mikasa saw Eren get eaten. She was able to reach Eren before Levi even though Levi left first, was closer, and stopped to look at his dead comrades. I guess it would have been too cruel if Armin had to witness that AGAIN. Levi took 0 seconds to moron his comrades whereas Mikasa took about 5 seconds. Then it was hacking time. I think Levi should have helped Mikasa, that she had done some serious damage at that point. But maybe Levi knew more than Mikasa, like the crystalization and knew they needed to pull back.

And then Mikasa melted into 34298843 million pieces.

Is Eren alive? Probably. Knowing him he is AOKAY because no one is allowed to be the main character but him. Now I don't know how he could be okay. Nor do I understand how I will sleep tonight without nightmares because of how the Female Titan's mouth....opened to eat Eren. But Mikasa thinks Eren is alive and at this point what does Levi have to lose? Will Eren go all Titan on Female Titan and rip her apart like Old Man Titan? That might be the only way they can win this. If you can call an entire squad dead winning....

Shingeki no Kyojin episode 20

Also thanks to all who died to make it happen. You know..it just wasn't Levi.

So much sleepy! But I have other things to post. I must catch up...or go to bed. Bed will be soon I suppose. For now here is one more post. Up now...finally....Shingeki no Kyojin episode 20! Finally indeed. Spoilers for humans...probably not winning. Ever. Give up now?

That would be Jean living with his heart on his sleeve.

Episode Summary: All the cadets sit in the trees, with different/varying degrees of crazy/upsetness. Some of the Titans have started to climb the trees causing the kids to move occasionally. All of the main characters seem to take a turn talking about this situation. Whether it be freaking out, asking where Christa is, asking where Eren is, thinking about the explosions, asking where Eren is, acting confused, and then asking where Eren is again for the millionth time all the mainies get to talk. Even some new blond hair kid who will probably die soon. Jean and Armin really talk about what is going on, how they must have wanted to capture the Female Titan. Jean is really pissed off that Erwin would cost so many lives whereas Armin sees that it was necessary to make sacrifices for the greater good. But why not tell them about the mission? At the same time Eren and the Levi squad have stopped and taken refuge in the trees. Levi has stopped to talk to Erwin about this situation. They want to see who is inside the Female Titan but Erwin decides she needs to pay for all the lives lost so even more missiles are fired at her. Mike and Levi are then instructed to chop off her hands which are protecting her neck. They quickly find out that she can make parts of her body harden/crystalize. While this is going on Eren is like the play was to CAPTURE her? But what about all our dead comrades?! The Levi unit explains to Eren these things are necessary to win a war. Eren can accept the fact that he was not told of the attack. Or the other newbies. But what about everyone else, why didn't they know? Perta, Oluo, Erd, and Gunther all take turns being offended, that they trust everyone and don't doubt their superiors. Eren goes to apologize but Erd starts to figure it out. Well and Gunther too at the same time Jean/Armin does. The reason so many people were left out of the loop is the Female Titan is one of them. A soldier. And only those who were in the military prior to the first attack 5 years ago were told. Everyone is a suspect. Armin really is upset at this news. Eren starts to act like he knows things are bad but can't put the last piece of the puzzle together.

Where is the party guys?!?!

Erwin goes to order the explosive to blow off the Female Titan's wrist when suddenly she screams something awful. All of the other Titans start to run to the Female Titan. The cadets try to stop them but the Titans pay no attention to the kids. Mikasa worries for Eren. Mike informs Erwin the Titans are coming when POOF they are there. They try using explosives but there are too many. To Erwin's horror the target is the Female Titan, not them. Everyone tries to protect the Female Titan but they are everywhere. Erwin calls everyone back as the Female Titan is decapitated and eaten. Erwin is simply shocked that the enemy would be willing to give up everything. Levi is like so we retreat now right? Erwin tells Levi to suit up and get his gear ready. Levi looks like he has questions but does so. The general flare for retreat is given to the rest of the cadets who are happy. Except for Mikasa because she is worried about Eren. Oh and because Sasha heard the scream and thinks something REALLY bad is happening. The Levi unit decides that this is a feel good moment. That the Female Titan was captured because Eren believed in them, the power of friendship. They start to retreat too, taking to the trees. Everyone starts talking about how Eren survived his first mission without pissing his pants. General teasing of everyone starts taking place, everyone being the best of friends. Erwin explains to Hange that the Female Titan was eaten, not the person inside the shell. And if they are this prepared....they are not dressed like a soldier and have maneuver gear. The Levi Unit sees a flare and thinks it is Levi. They head towards the light....or him having fun. Gunter starts to freak out when he realizes that the flare was not Levi. 5 seconds later everyone else freaks out as Gunter's head is barely attacked to his neck, attacked by the cloaked soldier. THE END!

Sasha is not appreciating the trolley.

Oh Lord. Oh Lord indeed. Sometimes shows can be so trolley. Like woohoo things are starting to look up for humans. This show is starting to live up to its name, Attack on Titans. Humans will win. Then splay. Hopes and dreams on the bottom of a Titan's foot. Or in the middle of their teeth. Spoiler alert: Currently in the manga...there is no hope. There has never been hope EVER. The title is a lie.

Meanwhile Mikasa.....

Mikasa wants to know where Eren is ya'll. I mean no one else knows what is going on but she has to know where is Eren. Bring up Eren over and over again. Of course she is right to assume something is going down. Has Mikasa talked to Armin? Clearly not or she would be more upset right? No no Mikasa is in the dark and is demanding answers. Considering this is their first mission and it has gone horrible I guess Mikasa has the right to be freaking out. The last time Eren saw a Titan it didn't go too well. Even if he does have this power know he can only use it IF HIS LIFE IS IN DANGER!

Say it ain't so!

While Mikasa's response to all this insanity is natural everyone else gets to talk too! Like hey don't forget about us even though we are not main characters. Woe is Armin. I think they need to flesh Connie out more. He seems so one dimensional. I have no idea why Sasha became a Scouting Legion solider. Like I want to be with my friends even though I am going to piss my pants at every turn. Reiner is surprisingly calm considering all that he has been through. Bertholdt...he looks rather lost. And who is this new blond kid? Is he taking over for Annie as one of the mains? Or is he going to be a splat soon and we need someone to fill that role so the kids will be all upset.

It all makes sense...when you are counting on the lives of your soldiers to win!

Jean and Armin's conversation is by the far the most interesting and focused on. Obviously. Because they know what is going on. Which is weird, that they are not including Reiner in their think fest. Obviously most of the thinking is coming from Armin but still the three boys went through that together. I think Jean is the more emotional part of the conversation, what everyone else is thinking and screaming. Like this is unfair?! You want to capture the Female Titan at the cost of our lives?!?!? Eff you!! Armin while probably emotionally upset is logical okay with this. Almost impressed with the way Erwin is able to see people as numbers and just using them whatever way makes the most sense and will get the best results. Now a leader who puts HIMSELF in danger instead of other people would really be the ones sacrificing the most but this show is focusing more on making tough decisions and living with the results as sin enough.

Um Eren....this might not be the time...

At the same time Eren is having the same conversation with the Levi Unit. Like side by side everyone is trying to figure tings out. Eren...oh Eren. He and Jean are so much alike. Maybe that is why they fight so much. Eren just says everything he thinks out loud. Like what do you mean the Female Titan was captured? What do you mean none of you knew? What do you mean that everyone is okay with being in the dark? Why why why?! Poor Eren. Trying to put together things in his mind in front of everyone. Making enemies wherever.

Um...I was just asking a question....

I think the Levi Unit should be offended. I would be too if I was apart of a superior squad. But Erwin was trying to be careful with who he told. I guess Oluo or whatever his name is threw me for a loop. Don't people make decisions on their soldier status after graduating? I suppose older men and woman can join the Scouting Legion but I just assumed these 4 people were in the know, have been together for a super long time. But they could have faces that looked pissed while telling Eren that HEY we have trust. Don't cause problems.

Oh you think?!?!?!?!

After the whole RARW issue it was time to sync up with Armin and talk about the situation. The reason there was such lies is Erwin has figured out who the Titan might be. Which is crazy to me since the Female Titan has not been seen yet until this episode right? Unless the Scouting Legion saw her when they returned to the Walls both time? I don't know. One would think that Erwin would have figured who the Colossal or Armored Titan are. Still got to give him cookies. People were so busy thinking about the attacks only a few people were really looking at the situation. Armin really has got this surprised look down, like oh crap I really know who the Female Titan is. Poker face Armin. Looking shocked then confused. Eren is just like no humans are humans, why would they be Titans and attack us?! Poor Eren and his little heart.

We got that covered with more explosions however....

While everyone is trying to figure this out Erwin is like time for revenge. He might be smart and strategic but he liked hurting the Female Titan. Like um yeah I am going to take out all this rage on you. Because Erwin might be using his soldiers as pawns but it is the Female Titan that has been smashing them into pieces on the ground, smiling as she does so. But Erwin was just being careful ya'll. Making sure all the hooks were fired. ;)

Well...that was an interesting way to make sure your enemy didn't win...

I don't think Erwin or anyone could have prepared for this.....event. I don't think the crystalization thing was a big deal in that moment. If all things went according to plan they could have overcome that aspect of RARW! I don't think Erwin wasted time...making the Female Titan suffer. Levi and Mike did their best. Who knew? Who knew that humanoid Titans sound different than regular Titans? We saw that the Durpy Titans and Abnormal Titans attacked Eren Titan. That he is fundamentally different than them and they need to attack. But now they SOUND different? Like MOG someone not like us is making a noise lets run and eat her. How could Erwin have thought of that? Just impossible I think.

Um...that would be a no.

At the time I thought that Erwin took too long to realize what the plan was. Like the Female Titan was eaten on purpose. Got that person free under the smoke, off to escape and find Eren for real. In reality it probably went by a lot faster than it looked but....shocked faces. Shocked that all these people died for nothing. Also it is a little shocking that humanoid Titans are considered the enemy by other Titans. Like hello aren't they on the same team? I guess not. Like who is the real enemy and what is really going on?!

Cheers to Eren for not turning into a Titan and making this all less complicated yay!!!

The very sad part, besides the fact that all the cadets were losing their minds from the Titans trying to get them in the trees and rejoicing basically when they left,....was how the Levi Unit was acting before things hit the fan. They heard the scream but I am sure they assumed that was her actual dying screams. They didn't think like Sasha, that this was the scream of danger. They were like yes we did this. Time to retreat. Time to go back to the walls. Sure people died along the way but it was all worth it. We are fighting back and we will win the war. Come we will retreat in a fun and jovial manner. We will congratulate Eren on surviving his first mission without pissing his pants unlike some people. Why so mad Petra? XD Oh yes, everyone is a happy group, Eren has a place to call his own, and all will be okay.

But we were bonding!!!!

This lasted for 5 seconds. 5 whole second of happiness and trolly behavior. Because that retreat signal...now Levi. He was told to suit up for battle and those precious minutes gave the Female Titan human the chance to find Eren and friends. So while everyone is laughing and having a great time Gunter notices....that is a girl. And they are going to attack us. Me. The happiness for 5 seconds came to a screeching halt as most of Gunter's head was separated from his neck and he dangled in the wind. What happiness? What hope? Who needs hope when you can have despair and humans turning on humans. Why indeed Eren. Why? Any guesses if Mikasa will make it in time or if this is going to be one quick bloodbath? Let the games begin.

Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi episode 8

Curse this life of mine!

Wee have another post! I swear I haven't given up blogging. Just trying to find a way to balance work, play, and home. A situation a lot of other people in the world have out there you know? Nothing special. But I am trying and haven't meant to abandon this blog or its readers! Promise. Here is Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi episode 8 as an offering? Spoilers for Ai...being slightly....delusional. Even for a pure hearted girl!

So what is this memory all about Alis?

Episode Summary: Ai calls together her classmates for the first official meeting of Breaking Out of this School. Only no one is really paying attention because almost all the work is done. All Alis has to do is blow the grate with the random explosions he has with him and all will be well. Or whatever he is taking the gate down with. So basically the meeting is sorta pointless. Ai pouts for a moment while everyone speaks their peace. Well Run tries to talk but she has a random bowl of water with her as if she can ONLY breath in the water. Alis decides that the meeting can become useful as they can discuss who is actually escaping the school. Ai is shocked as everyone is going with them. Tanya, Mimi, and Meme all look a little sheepish as the others say they are on board. Tanya gives an answer that does not satisfy Ai very much. Mimi and Meme come from a very well to do family and them having this split personality with their dead twin looks bad on their household. So basically they were shipped away and don't know if they would be accepted back. Ai is like um I have been out in that cruel world for 14 days I HAVE SEEN THINGS!!! Horrible things. And if I can leave my village full of no one so can you. Life is an adventure. Take life by the horn. Hold on while I crack open some more fortune cookies. Basically Ai starts to sparkle as she makes this speech which causes Tanya to nearly pass out due to awesomeness. Tanya runs out of the room which hurts Ai's feelings. Whisper and Alis tell Ai she is right but not everyone is willing to take leaps and bounds to find out their dreams. As Ai leaves Alis and Whisper talk about how Ai is perfect for Alis' plan. Later that night Ai finds Tanya and asks her again why she isn't leave the school. Tanya confesses she was not kidnapped but came to the school willingly. She was blind but wasn't that sad about the situation. Only when she made her “wish” and was given the weird eye did things change for her. Her parents were happy for Tanya at first but other people started treating her like a disease. Tanya left so they could live on without her and be safe. Ai is sad...but then is like listen to all the horrible things like me. Be like me and leave this place and all will be fine!

Oh no is Ai starting to doubt herself?!

Alis manages to destroy the gate so escape can be possible now. Everyone is excited but Ai wants to put it aside for another day to work on Tanya. Whisper and Alis aren't happy about that but Ai does her part and whispers to Tanya in the night....come with me if you want to live. The next day Alis is having a flashback of some sort of school life in which something horrible happened during the a school festival? Ai interrupts him and they end up talking. Ai is still worried about Tanya and her ability to save the world if she can't even save one person. Alis confesses that he is going to save the world too...by destroying it. Ai and probably everyone out there has a hard time following that logic but lets listen. Alis says there are two worlds: The real world and your personal reality. And....well that is about it. Alis will save the world with destruction and Ai will have to wait to see what part she plays in all of this. Ai is sad for Tanya and confused about what Ai has said. The time to break out is upon the kids and the twins have decided to join the group. Armed with one backpack off the kids go. Ai and Alis briefly stop when Tanya catches up, saying Ai gave her the strength. Everyone rejoices and they escape through the tunnels. They are briefly caught by Kidnap Kids R Us Teacher. She pulls out a gun and fires at the kids. Alis fires back, showing the group his ability it to have perfect accuracy no matter what. They are allowed to leave for some reason and Yuri pulls up right away to pick the kids up because everything is magical. As all the kid pile in the car Ai is like...where is Scar? Yuri said he had to leave her behind. THE END?!

Ai is slightly special. I think we knew that though. Calling forth a meeting in which no one was paying attention nor did she really have a right to lead? Come on Alis. You dug the tunnel. You lead the totally unnecessary meeting. At least everyone was kind enough to show up. Manners. Maybe not much else goes on at that school besides the occasional threat.

I think I really liked it when Tanya, Mimi, and Meme were like um hold your horses there. That is really what the meeting should have been about, deciding who wanted to go. I understand why Ai was confused at first. Even though she had to be told it was a prison...okay maybe I am still confused. Still...it needs some thought even though everyone “claims” to be prisoners. I think it was a little bit of a stretch, the twins situation. That can be covered up quietly. But the actual facts not withstanding drama is the kids felt as if them being there was safer than being with their parents. Hello, super mild zombie apocalypse going on here! People might turn on kids with weird situations. Wishes gone wild. Here at this school there are meals and safety and shelter. Not to mention a lot of kids like themselves.

Just build an entire village DUH!

So I think Ai was slightly annoying and delusional when she insisted everyone come with them. I mean...I get that it's anime. And a lot of animes have one character (usually a girl) that is so pure hearted and full of hope that they believe they can do anything. That anyone can do anything. All you need to do is wish upon a star. It makes no difference who you are ya'll. As long as you believe you can achieve. And other inspirational stuff. Which is nice. The world needs optimists and cheerful people. There just comes a point where...how much of this is helpful and how much of that is wishful/useless thinking. Hurtful even. Ai just met all these kids. She doesn't know their history or hat they have been through. Or how the world really is. I mean...why don't you wish for a happy ending Ai? Will it work?

Because this anime has taken place in the span of 2 weeks ya'll. X_x Like really? I know original source material people will be like PFFT she spent a month with Hampnie. In this show though...no. 2 weeks since everyone got their brains blown out..which didn't matter since they were already dead. But yes 2 weeks since Ai knew the truth. That she sees dead people. That the world is messed up. So she shouldn't be lecturing anyone on hopes and dreams since most people now have none since the world got screwed over. Ai can be delusional and decided she wants to save the world. But how is she going to do that? So yeah...telling everyone to leave and start over might...not be feasible at this point.

Which hurt Ai's feelings. Because she DOES have a heart of gold. She does want what is best for people. Only she doesn't really know what that entails. All she knows is everyone she sees is her best friend forever and she needs to be with them all. So Tanya...run away from Ai and save yourself? I kid I kid. Maybe. But yes some people need protecting and aren't adventurous. Tanya was overwhelmed and Ai had her feelings hurt. Woe is the zombie apocalypse.

You know who might be crazy? Alis. But that might be a given nowadays. He did try to talk some sense into sad panda Ai though. It's not personal. You is just a fluffy girl. But Alis is on board because he needs Ai. Clearly we will find out why he needs Ai in the next episode. For now he is too busy acting creepy and “smart”. I thought when he was talking about two worlds that it was going to be something else. He said NOW. What he was talking about has always existed. The real world and personal reality. Oh wait super powers? So that's nothing new and took up way too many words. What is important is Alis said he wants to destroy “his” world and Ai doesn't understand. Neither do I or how Ai, a girl he just found out existed, plays in. Whisper was not coughing up answers either.

And then they all died! WOOHOO!

I was sorta disappointed when nothing bad happened to the kids. When everyone, including the twins, decided on 3 am that night Ai begged for more time. I thought something amazingly awful was going to happen. That if the kids had left that night they would have escaped some brutal death, like the building going up in flames. Or when Tanya did join them I thought the tunnel was going to collapse when Alis and Ai stopped to talk to her. Some awful stuff there. I waited and waited....but it never came. :( Do you see my face? Woe is this zombie apocalypse.

Instead Ai has time to talk to her new best friend. Tanya. Take that Ulla. HMMMMM this Tanya. Prison indeed. She came to this school on purpose. Because she's weird. I really don't think it's that bad. Some people in real life talk about sounds having colors and what not. But in the land of the dead Tanya is weird. Super weird. So she left her parents so nothing bad would happen to them. Which actually ends up being the bad thing. Also in case I didn't make it clear...wishes suck!!! I want to see....how hard is that to interpret? Still Tanya is scared and Ai is like look I have been out in this world for 2 weeks. I know what you are going through. Come and I will make you fishers of men.

YAY! Let us go into this world with nothing and be friends forever!

For the record all the kids chose to escape. And not tell anyone else. And brought enough supplies for 5 minutes. My friend brought more shit for a 3 day trip to Disney. Like this show is clearly not showing everything and many of my questions are probably answered in the source material. Or were explained right the first time that I would never have to ask questions. But it is not like they knew Yuri was going to roll up and save the day. That Yuri was going to be willing to take the kids with them. Maybe everyone should have had supplies with them. Anything really! This is the semi zombie apocalypse. Anything would be better than nothing. One dude with a backpack? Can we please think ahead?

I wish we could have seen more of the school. I mean...really folks.

Yuri did find the kids though. 5 seconds after they escaped. So I guess they got lucky. But for the first 4 seconds things got a bit serious. Because Ms. Teacher of the year found that kids. Super fast. I wonder if she knew the entire time and just wanted to give them the taste of victory only to take it away. XO So cruel. But I guess the joke is on her. Alis has an ability. Duh. Why else would he be at this school? You think that the school would take note of that before kidnapping kids but I guess that makes too much sense. Alis has perfect aim. So when Ms. LISTEN TO ME starts shooting at the kids Alis was about to fire his own weapon and poof no one is hurt. She didn't really try that hard to get the kids back did she? Guess she doesn't really care about the kids that much if she was willing to shoot some to get a few back right?

How kind of you to notice! We got a baby but no Scar hmmmmmm!

But none of that matters. Because this is the tame zombie apocalypse. Yuri pulls up in the exact right spot with the exact right timing despite there being no plans or what not. And if there was any...I didn't see them. Everyone is rescued though rejoice! We will just pile everyone into this one van. Move over Scar, we got more people. Wait....where is Scar? You left her behind? Left her behind where?!?! What is going on! XO

Kiniro Mosaic episode 8

Happy Labor Day!!! You know the holiday where....um...people get recognized for working by allowing half the public off and making the other half work? Yeah it doesn't make sense to me either. All I know is that me and my buds had the day off and colds or no colds we were going to go shopping. There might be another Duffy in the house now and my wallet might be a little sad and lonely.

High school life is only super fun forever!!!

No post in a week? But I have been working on them all week! I was supposed to get some done on Saturday but clearly my penance for having Monday off was to be super busy on Saturday. Then there was a little cold issue Sunday. Like my husband had a cold and I was convinced I was getting sick so I took some medicine and tons of naps. NO COLDS FOR ME! So today...finally it is time for posts! Up first is Kiniro Mosaic episode 8. Spoilers for the girls having a party day too.

WEEE! Time for fun!

Episode Summary: Alice is super excited about their school festival even though she has the wrong idea on what the festival will be about. Their class is doing a cafe of sorts. Shinobu wants a maid cafe and Alice wants a Japanese style cafe. They sorta fight over this...detail when it is decided they will do a combination. Aya is not really down with this idea but doesn't voice her concerns. Walking home from school Karen says their class is doing a play so they all need to stop by and visit her. Their homeroom teacher is a bit of a fruitcake because she is told that teachers have to be funny. She tries her act out on Aya who freaks out a bit. They put that pass them and continue to work with their classmates to make the best....Japanese Style Maid Cafe ever. Alice still gets her way as she gets to wear a Japanese style outfit while Shinobu will wear the maid outfit. Aya and Youko go to the store to buy supplies for the cooking. There is a bit of husband/wifey material going on but eventually the stuff is bought. When they return Aya finds out that she will be wearing a Maid Outfit and this is horrible. Shinobu and Alice go home and get ready to bed, exciting about the next day/festival. Alice is also excited because this day is special for another reason. She tells Shinobu it is an important anniversary date and looks at the girl with loving eyes. Shinobu has no idea what Alice is talking about which starts to hurt Alice's feelings. Shinobu vows to remember it...and falls asleep.

Aya is so great at this.

The next day the rest of the class is trying to put together their cafe but the girls have to deal with Alice still pouting. Shinobu begs to know what the anniversary is and Alice says it is the day Shinobu came to stay with her family in England. Her family still celebrates that day with a party which scares Youko. There is some talk about giving Karen a special day too but soon the girls have to change into their outfits, much to Aya's sadness. The customers start coming in which shocks Alice as they are adults. Aya proves she can't handle this role and Shinobu makes weird food. Youko imagines Karen as a maid which might have worked out well. Isami and her friend show up to the cafe in a very basic disguise, ready to take pictures of her little sisters. Aya freaks out and Youko tries to get Isami to stop when they realize who the girl is. Karen shows up to remind everyone of her awesome part in the class play which Isami promises to take pictures of. The girls finish their shift at the cafe and walk around to see other booths and events to feel good music. After eating a boatload of food they go to see Karen's play. It is supposed to be Snow White but it looks like Die Hard or something weird. After all that fun it is time to take down all the school festival stuff. Alice had wanted to give Shinobu a present earlier in the day...really all day and never found the time. Finally Alice presents...the present in her typical manner. A thank you gift for the chopsticks all those years ago. It is a red minnie mouse bow that makes Shinobu happy but appears to be....well special. The other girls laugh at the bow and Alice is heartbroken. THE END!

What do you mean you didn't sparkle in high school?

Slice of life shows....ah. So simple. So lovely. Sure sometimes things are TOO lovely, TOO unrealistic. TOO idyllic. I hate that word by the way. Idyllic!!!! Where the hell did the y come from? But even if things are not....well always possible they tend not blow your mind away. They are easy to follow and don't require some chart or map to keep track of plot points and possibilities.

We must fight to the death to decide what to do for the school festival.

As....sometimes they can be predictable. In a familiar way which makes you smile. Like oh I know what is coming next. There will always be the Sakura Blossoms going back to school scene, a summer scene, and then...a school festival scene. It might be easy to fall back on such things. Like whoa guys don't kill me with surprises. Wouldn't want you to think outside the box. But....typically these things do happen at high school. With a lot of less sparkles but they still happen. They just seem to cut out all the bad stuff. Got to make Japan woohoo fun for everyone watching. Including the kids themselves, like this is what my high school life will be like too. Got to live it up while I can.

What is a Japanese style cafe? Was Alice thinking tea ceremony or something? I would have thought maybe a noodle bowl shop would have been more traditional, not a cafe. Maid cafes....yeah that is up Shinobu's alley. I probably would have gone in the middle since the idea of being in a Maid Cafe would make me too nervous/uncomfortable to have fun. Even if it's just like the workers at Disney being over the top. For the record I think Shinobu's idea was much more....popular thus better in regards to their school festival. But it should have been a maid/butler cafe. XD Gotta be fair guys, pull your weight. A combo cafe seems rather special. I think that Aya would have been upset if it had been anything really so her opinion doesn't matter woohoo.

That wasn't really a joke...it was a super bad gag.

After their homeroom teacher was done being randomly weird...it was combo time. We are going to have a Maid Cafe and a Traditional Cafe. I think it would have worked better had they had two separate menus and eating areas. Like which side would you like to eat at today? The ideas together seemed a bit mushed together. But then again mushing things together sometimes works. The old with the new. Just...a whole lot of special but I guess the main girls only matter, not the rest of the class weeee.

Their hamburgers have onions in them BEWARE!

The shopping trip with Aya and Youko was funny. I mean...in other shows over the top..girl on girl feelings felt a bit off. Like they were trying too much. But with these two in comes off more natural. That it isn't over sexualized I guess. Like just a girl who has a crush on her friend and her friends is in lala land with hamburgers for dinner. Does that make any sense? Probably not. A giant hypocrite indeed. XD But I just find Aya's face being blushy all the time fun. Of course nothing will ever come of this but you know.....it is fun while it is lasting yes? Also Japanese shopping carts are so small. Probably because they are meant to be shopping for each day or every two days, not weeks like in the United States.

How could you forget?!?!?!

Oh Alice. Crazy little Alice. I can understand her to a point. You want someone to remember the special events in your life. Especially if they are shared special events. Like um you should know what I am talking about because you were there too crazy person. And I can also understand the little pouting behavior. Like :( I won't tell you the day because I rather be sad that you don't remember because clearly you hate me. But...you know...Shinobu is a bit special. Obviously she wasn't doing it out of malice. But expecting her to remember much might a stretch.

Most important holiday of them all!

Thank goodness the pouting didn't ruin the festival though. You are probably only going to get one Alice/Karen. The date in question, the anniversary is when Shinobu went to England. Now...I might be more on Alice's side. I always go WOOHOO when I think of the first time I went to Japan. And as a married couple we celebrate our wedding date. But I still remember the exact date we got together. I am sure he has forgotten, will say that it was sometime in January. Not remembering isn't done to hurt me. But to Alice that is important and I think it should have been a big milestone for Shinobu too. Clearly no one else understands the silly party Alice and her family put on.

What do you mean the no picture taking rule is a given?!

After that drama it was festival time. Which...ended way too soon in my professional opinion. One day? Psht!!!! The cafe....was a success I believe? I think anyway. Some of the girls had fun. Not Aya but she probably wasn't going to have fun anyway. I like that Isami came in looking like a stalker and that Youko put on the professional Japanese worker face to ask her to stop taking pictures. PSHT me and my camera will go everywhere THANK YOU! But yes I think the girls had fun and looked cute. I guess that is all that matters. Lies. XD But yes. Cook and make little drinks. I can barely stand boiling water for spaghetti.

After their shift it was on to have fun. Which is good. I have seen enough of these slice of life shows and festivals that have left me thinking...where is the fun?! It was nice that all the girls had the same shift. Magical. Now it was time to walk around and see what their fellow students have done. And ate a lot of junk food. So tasty. Cue the happy music. Everyone is friends and it is all good. I even like that Karen joined in with the maid fun and walking around fun...but went off with her other friends. It is okay to do things with other people weeee!

Karen's contribution to the festival was murdering a classic story. I mean..I know there are many versions of Snow White. Some are more faithful to the original work than others. But I can say for certain...this was one of the specialiest versions of Snow White. Even Isami and her love for taking pictures had no idea what was going on. Do....do I film the insanity? What the heck were you doing Karen? But...she had her whole heart and soul into it so that is all that matters right? She looked cute doing it too.

How about you wear it on the side?

After the festival is done it is time for Alice and Shinobu to bond. And since they are both special people they can't do it in a normal manner. No no. Alice to wait for the perfect moment and pretend that Shinobu was ignoring her when in reality she was being special. The gesture was sweet. Like you gave me a hair accessory I will give you one too. Our hair will bond us together. Now if only Shinobu wore it in a different way. Or if her hairstyle was different. I like the ribbon obviously but not on Shinobu's head the way she had it. Yay for super honest friends? X____X

And that is how the episode ends. With the festival coming to a close and Shinobu being gifted the ribbon of friendship. Everyone had fun yes? Yay for fun times. Next should be a Christmas party or New Years Eve party yes? Bring on the chicken and cake!
