Gate 7 Chapter 4: WTF did I just read?

YAWN!!!! After working 4 whole hours today and not passing out I decided to reward myself with…no ice cream :( Because today is the first time I saw sunlight in like 6 days and I have not gone to the grocery store.

So instead I decided to watch Sci-Fi movies with my friend! We have little date nights where we watch the same movie at our houses and text each other about how horrible the movie is. It is especially awesome when we have seen said movie 1289 times each.

What does this have to do with the manga Gate 7? Well my home girl fell asleep. See she actually went to work all this week and was exhausted. Silly girl. So since I didn’t have my texting buddy my fingers were like WE NEED SOMETHING TO DO. So it was onto downloading Gate 7 Chapter 4.

I would say SPOILERS but really....I have no idea what this means.

If you were expecting a review on this chapter you aren’t getting one. Sorry. And do you know why?

Because I have absolutely no idea what is going on.

And this isn’t normal CLAMP confusion. Like um why are their multiple Sakuras and um hey people are traveling into different timelines kind of confusions. It’s more like I have no idea what the words are even supposed to mean at this point.

The site where I get my translations from is the same site that did the translations for Tsubasa, XXXholic, and Kobato. From time to time a few words were off and I chalked that up to differences in the languages. Other than that things made sense and I enjoyed my stories.

Lost in translation...or lost in the minds of CLAMP?

So I am thinking that the problem is Gate 7. That it is too crazy for words. The sentence structures make NO SENSE. I can’t tell what the heck people are talking about and half the time I get attacks confused for actual dialogue.

Words don't matter! Look how cute Hana is!

Not that the dialogue is any better. Between Hana fighting…the something people were talking and I have absolutely have no idea what they were talking about. Actually I am not even sure who the people talking were. I do know some cute little dragon kid randomly showed up but that is about it. Oh and Hana can use other people’s powers or something.

I do like this new New NEW character. Yay cute little boys!

So while the art is very lovely and the battle scenes are spot on I have no idea what the hell is going on. And from the looks of it on the internet people are getting bored. And think that CLAMP is relying on their previous fans to be captivated with the pretty pictures and ignore the fact that NOTHING is making sense. Others are saying that this series would be easier to understand if one knew Japanese history. To think of this historical figures as someone tied to our own history (whatever country that may be).

Um I would like things to start making sense please?

Even if that were the case….it is still far too confusing for me to understand at 2 am in the morning. Probably too confusing forever. So for the time being I will not be following this train wreck. Some people say they will pick it back up when the cliff notes come out so we know who those people are. Perhaps I will too. For now I am just disappointed that Kobato had to be dropped so fast for a hot mess that is all flash but too much story for its own good.

Maybe CLAMP can release another manga at the same time? The thought of having no CLAMP in my life for a time being is a sad thought. :( I really wanted Gate 7 to be great but I am too confused and frustrated to try and make it make sense. I wonder how many others are thinking the same thing.

Gate 7 chapter 2: Let the confusion begin!!

This is my happy face folks. My forced plastered on happy face. I shall wear it every minute of everyday I am at work. I will smile when being yelled at. I will smile when family members get MARRIED without telling me. I will SMILE even though I am sobbing and people are telling me to shut up. HAPPY FACES YA’LL!!

Or really no folks. Just remember if you want to keep a good working relationship with your family do not work with them. And under NO CIRCUMSTANCES get married without telling your sibling! Like these things should be common sense but OBVIOUSLY not in my family folks.

Just keep smiling folks!!!

Putting aside the fact that I live in CrazyVille I still flock to the equally crazy manga group CLAMP. Because after a long day of tears and insanity I want to read things that confuse my soul BUT WITH PRETTY PICTURES!

We don't need no stinkin words! We got pretty pictures folks!!

Just as a note I found some of the dialogue a bit...off in this chapter. I am not saying it is the wonderful translators fault. Without her (them?) I would have to wait months, years to yell and scream at CLAMP. So I am thinking that the characters are the ones acting all dramatic and confusing. Like oh let's talk in code and not give the story away type deal. So yes enter the confusion at some points.

Are you great at cleaning too?!

The chapter starts off with Takamoto cooking for his new housemates Hana, Tachibana, and Sakura. Because now that Watanuki is out of the picture we need a slave/cook. I would say that I am moving to Japan so teenagers can make my every meals but most of these meals look healthy. But I am impressed with everyone's ability to cook at the drop of a hat. I guess it beats having spaghetti every night.

Bring on the "partner"!

Sakura comes downstairs right when Takamoto calls him which at first makes Takamoto happy. But then Sakura says he can't sleep without body warmth and Takamoto works himself up into a TMI situation. And since Sakura said partner I will assume it will be a male. Because this is CLAMP and I have yaoi colored glasses. I am sure this will be an important plot point later.

Even I don't look like that early in the morning. X__X

Tachibana is our resident grumpy in the morning person. DEMONS!!!! Well maybe we shouldn't joke about demons, he might be one. But we learn he is a college kid and not a morning person. Good to know.

Everyone should own a frog suit! Or at least rent a small child to go AWWW with.

Hana eventually comes down for breakfast in a frog suit and small talk occurs. Sakura seems to be a pervert what with helping shrine maidens get dressed, Tachibana turns a little more human, and people tease Takamoto on Hana's gender. Which I find funny because I just assume Hana is a girl and Takamoto is the one I am all X__X about. But we are all one big happy family and this is the second day folks. Such friendship!

I see. This all makes sense. Got it.

Hana is sent on an errand and Takamoto goes with her as his school has not started yet. As soon as the pair leave Sakura and Tachibana start talking. And that is when things get confusing. Apparently neither of them have heard of complete sentences or something. But from what I gave Takamoto is their new owner, something that Tachibana is not happy with. But since it is not their decision Tachibana has to suck it up. Both men imply there is something...off about Takamoto. Yay for mysteries.

Creepy? Me? Never.

Despite Takamoto going along with Hana she still side tracks them to a noodle shop. It is owned by a creepy guy named Hidetsugu. He also seems to own the place Takamoto lives in. Hana seems okay with Hidetsugu but she seems fine with anyone giving her food. Takamoto is all suspicious about the entire situation.

Hana and Hidetsugu then start talking above Takamoto's head. And this is the part I don't like. Or really I am not used to. Watanuki would have been freaking out and a normal person would have been at least asking questions. Hana and Hidetsugu are going on and on about crazy stuff and Takamoto is like what air, words, what? And I find that slightly annoying.

If I see the word clone I am running away folks.

But basically Hana says that she "called" Takamoto back to her because they are the same. And by the same she means nonexistent. If someone told me nonexistent I would be asking some questions.

Oh yes. Didn't you know? Everyone in Kyoto has a spirit flying above their heads. Didn't you know?

Hidetsugu tries to "explain" the situation but...yeah. Not really an explanation. He proved that Takamoto was nonexistent by making that weird nothing space. He also says that he can't make a weird space like Sakura and that he has to borrow power from a spirit. Then we has a spirit flying around. Amazing.

So...yeah. Slightly confusing folks. And while I don't want a Watanuki clone I do hope that Takamoto steps up and takes a more active role in what is going on. Maybe if he asks questions we viewers will get answers. But Hana is cute. XD So I endure!

Gate 7 chapter 1

90 days people!!!!! XD In 90 days I will be on my way (with the husband of course) to JAPAN!!! XO This is slowly becoming more real and exciting. 3 months people!!!! I can hold out yes?

Of course….that probably means I need to get my passport yes….

Are we set for another adventure into CLAMP land?

But anyway XO It is time for Gate 7 chapter 1!!! This will be CLAMP fans only manga for a while with rumors that Kobato and XXXholic might be ending shortly. Will Gate 7 be able to fill the void in our hearts or will this be another manga that has us all going X___X? Let’s find out.

Behold it is adventure time!!

Chapter Summary: Our HERO Takamoto has arrived in Kyoto despite his mother’s protests. But since she was going to depart for an overseas job anyway it probably doesn’t matter. Still Takamoto doesn’t want to talk about that and sets out looking for a place to live. But food becomes a more important priority and soon he finds the restaurant he was looking for. Just as he thinks he is happy not to run into those WEIRD people from last time he sees Sakura, Tachibana, and Hana in the restaurant. They all eat together because that is what strangers do okay. After eating Takamoto intends to part ways but Hana takes them all to a shrine. But instead of inspirational wishes left at the shrine hateful are left instead. When Takamoto realizes that they are taken to…A “strange place”. There a lion covered in all the crazy wishes lives. Nothing is really explained as Hana fights the creature and Takamoto goes X__X. Then it is revealed that Hana kissed Takamoto last chapter so he would return to her. Despite all this crazy Takamoto decides to live with the three. THE END!!!

Still confused. But since it is CLAMP I might forgive them. Or give them more time to explain just what the heck is going on. I can has the patience.

Oh yes. I forgot that this makes sense...

There is still no real information about who or what Sakura, Tachibana, and Hana are. Takamoto doesn’t seem that interested in asking either. We learned that each of the three “special” people have different types of powers. Lunar, solar, and….um…fire? And that prayer papers make really cool looking lions.

Or maybe it was just Hana's spell and there is no interesting mom story. Who knows.

I do sense that there was something more going on with Takamoto and his mother. Or maybe I am just over sensing things. Who knows. But there must have been a reason why she didn’t want Takamoto to go to Kyoko. Maybe she knew he would encounter his destiny or something? That she rather him live a “peaceful” life in Tokyo. “Peaceful” as in most would think Kyoto would be the safer spot to be. I don’t know if that will ever be discussed but that was something of interest to me.

He is not good at running from danger is he?

I wish that Takamoto acted more bugged out over seeing the three…special people again. Me I would have been out of that restaurant, not eating with them. I would have asked questions or at least look beyond scared. But no Takamoto is eating with them and smiling like all is well.

This would be the passing out portion of your life okay?

Even after the lion battle he was like OH okay I will come and live with you people despite me just witnessing the crazy. I mean…he can still feel strongly towards Hana and be frightened. I don’t know, I wanted to see some freaking out and I got WOOHOO Kyoto is so magical I will overlook the fact there are monsters made from evil wishes. Or something.

Cannot resist the cute!!!!

But Hana is super adorable. Maybe I would have stayed too if someone was acting that cute XD

So….really not much to say. Don’t know what is going on. Based on the synopsis that was floating around the internet last year this will have to do with the dream world and how our wishes are not really our own. But for now details are under wraps and we are being swept away like Takamoto. Hopefully answers will come shortly.

New manga series!!! Gate 7 chapter 1

Once again beautiful artwork. So exciting.

Well the plan was to catch up on CLAMP manga posts today but I was kidnapped. My mom likes to kidnap me often. But since my brother left for boot camp today ( XD XD XD) I decided I would allow myself to be kidnapped and spend money that I don’t have. Shopping heals all wounds.

But anyway let me see if I can continue to my catch bloggingness. Of course it I hard to blog to the constant sounds of gun fire and my husband cussing at the computer. Yay for Christmas presents.

Next on the list is the new manga from CLAMP Gate 7. Because apparently we can’t be making people happy by finishing X/1999 and Legal Drug.


I would like to first start off with the fact that CLAMP likes to gender confuse everyone. Like we got Kohaku who may or may not be a boy and we got some girlish looking dudes running all over the place. Like step aside Watanuki because Takamoto has taken over for small main dude in a manga series. I was like aw what a cute hair cut on that girl but NO. No folks.

Yes. Totally a boy people. How could I have been so confused?!

Of course we could always find out that Takamoto is a girl because that is how CLAMP rolls. But the name and one of the dudes saying he doesn’t have a girlfriend…He is just a really feminine looking dude that buys his clothes from the junior section. Oh and has a purse. But it isn’t confusing at all.

So our story starts off with our HERO Takamoto being excited about his first trip to Kyoto. Which surprises me as every anime shows middle school/high school kids going either to Kyoko or Hokkaido. Obviously I have been LIED TO since this native Japanese person has never gone. LIED TO.

I am going to Kyoto too Takamoto! We can be excited together!!!

Anyway so Takamoto is happy to look at old stuff in Kyoto because apparently there are no temples and shrines in Tokyo. He is super excited and wants to go to Kyoto for college. He has fun taking pictures of stuff. In a way he reminds me of me as I love taking pictures, especially of old stuff. But I wear girl jackets and have a purse and I am a chick.

Can I visit this place too?

So after talking some big words about how excited he Takamoto decides it is time to pray to the scholarship gods. But before that can happen he steps into a lake and doesn’t drown. Like oh hi I am on a lake. Something magical, in my CLAMP? I am shocked people. Shocked.

Let's not be stabbing me okay?

Takamoto is then surrounded by three people. It is deducted later there are two men and a girl. They argue about why Takamoto was able to get in…wherever they are and how someone must be slacking. The small girl then starts attacking weird monster like things that are near Takamoto. Takamoto freaks out because it looks like she is trying to attack him.

Time for fighting ya'll.

CLAMP is big on their fighting and spell pages so that goes on for quite a while. One of the men makes weapons out of nothing and the girl really does most of the butt kicking. Takamoto generally stands around and acts confused. Which is how the readers feel too. Takamoto finally passes out. Me I probably would have passed out the minute I was standing on the lake.

A boy people. A BOY!

Takamoto wakes up looking even more girly with the young lady all sleeping on him. Takamoto continues to freak out as the men invite him to eat and everyone is just chillin. Because this is totally normal behavior. Did I mention that Takamoto looks like a girl despite CLAMP’s attempt to make his adam’s apple as obvious as possible?

I understand this all.

And then the terms start getting all confusing. Thanks for X/1999 I know what Kekkai means. SHIELD ya’ll. But I had to look up Hanamchi. Which means something about theater. The men later say that Takamoto is confusing the characters so I am sure it will be explained what it really is later. Another term used is Shichiken. Okay I lied. So none of this makes sense. But I am sure it will later. For now the men and little girl are talking to Takamoto and he is super confused. Which is how the reader feels too. XD

Throughout the conversation Takamoto is like um yeah and acting scared of the little girl. Who was acting creepy. One of them, the one with short looking hair, quickly interagates Takamoto and realizes he is not a threat. The long hair dude restrains Takamoto and they proceed to erase Takamoto’s memories. I probably would have done that outside so Takamoto could wake up outside and go along with life.

Um yes. I am understanding this...

Only the erasing of the memories doesn’t take. Upon seeing that the little girl runs outside with Takamoto. She introduces herself as Hana and gets all glowly. And a very confused Takamoto gets a kiss from someone who looks about 10. He then passes out as Hana says something and Takamoto leaves us with the words three months later. Nooooooooo!

CLAMP? Confusing? Never!!

X_X Well that was slightly confusing. I am sure the second chapter will make a lot more sense. That is how manga/anime goes. Got to get the viewer interested and hooked so they will come back find out the answers.

Since this is CLAMP I automatically love it. But if we are putting that aside it was a very interesting story. Hopefully not too much like XXXholic because I can only take so much talking and learning. But we shall see how Takamoto and his special attire handles this situation. It might be refreshing to see some spazzing since Watanuki has mellowed out.

So CLAMP fans…YAY for us. X_X But does that mean Kobato will be released even later now? XO
