Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun episode 6

So….I have decided that instead of being super angry I would try to forgive and explain myself in a mature, adult manner in hopes that things will become more positive. Well to some people at least. Others I have decided maybe the silent treatment is the most mature course of action I can muster with them. Take a deep breath and relax. Or try to relax. Or focus on the fact we are going to go to Universal Studios a bit earlier than expected to see a friend we haven’t seen in over year. Focus on the happy.

Um...bad hair day or trying to change things up a bit?
So what is up now? I am having a lazy day due to a headache. Plus the fact it is getting completely dark by 6 o clock is starting to get to me. So all I have for you right now is Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun episode 6. Spoilers for teenagers being unpredictable and weird.

XO Why does high school have to be so hard?
Episode Summary: Chizuru explains to the audience that when she started high school she spent the first week in the hospital. When she was released she realized that everyone had already paired up into friendships leaving her out in the cold. She was left with no friends except someone who goes to another school. She tries to tell her friend about her crush on Haru but it is hard to get him to notice her when the rest of the school sees how…special he is. Haru on the other hand has lost his mind and decided that wearing glasses means he will be nominated in some way for student council or class rep job. Shizuku sees Haru acting like a nut bag but ignores him. Haru is not nominated and pouts. Shizuku decides that she has lost her mind and her grades are suffering. She knows that she has changed because of Haru. Things are made worse when Asako points out the obvious that Chizuru likes Haru. Shizuku decides she doesn’t care and marches on to study. Chizuru is outside thinking about how sad and lonely she is when Haru pops out of nowhere and is like um it is your fault I wore those glasses and wasn’t nominated. Chizuru has a hard time talking and Haru basically decides that Chizuru is friendless and is in need of help. He gathers all his friends for an emergency meet up of Chizuru has no friends. Asako is on board with this insanity and Souhei is just happy to be there. Shizuku is pissed this is cutting into her studying time and says if Chizuru wants friends she needs to make her own, not rely on these crazy people for help. Haru gets mad that Shizuku doesn’t care and she stomps off.

Hey mom. Work isn't everything! Teach your daughter this!
Shizuku thinks back to family times when her mom bailed on the family yet doesn’t realize she is doing the same thing with her friends. Chizuru and Shizuku are forced together in gym class and Chizuru thinks to herself how Shizuku is okay being alone while she Chizuru is too awkward for that. Haru tries to talk to Chizuru again but is blocked by Asako who wants everyone to be together. This leads to awkward moments between Haru and Shizuku. Shizuku basically announces she is in love with Haru and Haru still doesn’t understand what the fight is about. Chizuru finds her brave and tells Haru off for Chizuru. Haru ends up chasing after Chizuru which leads to more awkward moments. Asako and Souhei go to see Haru but Misawa explains that Haru has finally taken Shizuku out on their date. Asako is sad that she is being left out while Misawa and Yuzan are like…well those are two weird people. This date is actually at a library with Haru bored out of his mind. Shizuku looks at him square in the face saying she no longer has feelings for him and that she just wants to be friends. Haru doesn’t know what to think at this information. At school the next day Asako grows even more upset when Shizuku won’t talk about the boring date that wasn’t. THE END!
Photobucket
Um no...that is not a date.
What is this insanity? Flip floppin feelings and emotional outburst that don’t make any sense? It’s like being in high school all over again! Oh wait these characters are in high school? Carry on then.

Well minus the chicken of course.
Even though I tease….perhaps Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun is a true representation of what high school life is like. What love can be like. Complicated and back and forth and in denial. Not I found my one true love and it is all Disney and singing birds time. Silly people marrying the first person they date. Silly people indeed. So as much as Shizuku is frustrating and in denial and unfun….well maybe it makes sense.
Photobucket
We got some Shizuku sympathizers!
Not that Haru shouldn’t be frustrated with Shizuku being frustrating. Of course he might have started some of that with insisting that his love was not the same as Shizuku and him being okay with Shizuku taking back their confession. Maybe the real people who should be frustrated are their friends. XD Because clearly they have no idea how to be in a relationship. Which makes sense as they have never been in one. So….nothing about this episode was annoying? I guess I typed my way out of that thought didn’t I?
Photobucket
Does Chizuru understand the annoying now?
But let me be clear that while Shizuku and Haru are being normal they are being annoying. Hard to watch at time. Now that I have seen or not seen more of Shizuku’s mom it makes more sense why she is the way she is. And Haru’s home life isn’t all roses either. They are very messed up when it comes to people. It is almost like Shizuku is making her life difficult by denying how she feels and Haru is….well he is special. Almost like he can’t learn and grow from situations, that he has to be told what to do.
Photobucket
Breaking my heart here girl.
But on the other hand (let me grow some more hands like that insurance commercial) maybe I appreciate Shizuku losing her mind. Yes it does get tiresome hearing the word study come out of her mouth. Like um you are boring please be having something else to talk about. But that IS who Shizuku is. For so long that has been her identity. So she should be upset that Haru came along and all these changes happened to her. Like whoa who am I really? Why is this happening?! How can I change so fast? No I won’t let Haru or these other misfit friends change me. Back to how I used to be even if that makes me look crazy. So while Shizuku might appear crazy to everyone, especially Haru, this regression actually makes sense. Shizuku changed too fast and it was uncomfortable for her. So she goes back what makes sense and what she knows. Makes sense to me.
Photobucket
I am walking away from the insanity now.
Or Shizuku was jealous of Chizuru. Which would make sense. Shizuku is just trying to protect herself. So why am I trying to type anything negative or confusing about this show when it makes perfect sense! A girl wants good grades and realizes that being obsessed with a boy hasn’t helped her grades. That she is human and has jealous feelings. To protect herself from jealous feelings she tries to remove herself from the situation.
Photobucket
Does she still get to see this friend or is everything just Sadville for her?
I think everyone thought that Chizuru was going to come between Haru and Shizuku despite the fact that they are a couple and just don’t know it. But nope, can’t really hate on Chizuru. She has a sad little back story too folks. It makes me sad that this many friendless people were at this school and just weren’t friends with each other. But I guess they were friendless for different reasons so maybe they would never come together under normal circumstances. Chizuru seems sad though, as she wanted friends but apparently missed that crucial friend making period. She seems capable of making friends though as she has someone to text with. That means nothing when you eat by yourself at lunch every day and is made into the class slave.
Photobucket
Why can't we just be her friends and bring her into the circle of crazy?
Haru and his special self has decided that Chizuru needs to make friends. It is lost on him that they don’t need to make elaborate plans to give her friends….they just can be her friends. That is of course if they don’t scare her away with their crazy plans and rude comments. Like….it doesn’t make friendless people happy reminding them they are friendless or blaming them for not becoming class rep. In short I am surprised Chizuru didn’t pass out or run away from these crazies. But she was kidnapped so maybe it was understandable. And she is also friendless unless I didn’t make that point clear enough.
Photobucket
And then Chizuru died.
I can’t hate Chizuru though even if she has an unfortunate name. She acknowledges that she is in love with Haru but isn’t blind to the truth that Shizuku and Haru love each other. Maybe she will become a nonhome wrecker later (since there is no relationship officially to wreck) but for now she was accepting what Haru said and defending Shizuku to Haru. So…..what is not to like about her embarrassing self? XD
Photobucket
Hugs for everyone?
Did anything else happen in this episode? Oh yes I felt bad for Asako. Even if she is slightly weird herself I sense she is a really sweet girl deep down. Going this long without any real girlfriends I think she thought Shizuku and her were besties. When Asako realized that might not be true or Shizuku isn’t the typical kind of girl it was sad to see her…not be jealous but to be slightly hurt. I understand that as I am a girl and get my feelings hurt when people really don’t mean me any real harm.
Photobucket
Because deep, deep down you care. XD
Okay NOW I think that I have covered everything. I think anyway. Overall this is a cute little series that may make high school make a little more sense. Not sure why I say more sense as most of us watching this have either gone through high school or are in high school so this is old news to us. Silly Tenchi and her being old and forgetting how life was like.
