No. 6 episode 9

At what age does someone learn to count back age? I really want to know. Because I don’t think I can teach someone to count. Obviously spelling and reading are beyond some of the people I work with. But counting people. COUNTING. People interact with money every single day. Teenagers go to the mall right? Stuff costs money right? Or am I to believe that a person 16 years old has only purchased things with a credit card and they have never interacted with change and handling money? My mind is boggled folks. Boggled.

Also I feel so old. I am having a moment where I want these kids to get off my lawn. Kids these days. BACK IN MY DAY. Just….so frustrating. What is probably more frustrating is that everyone is making excuses for this person. That is just how young people are nowadays? Surely this is a sign that the world is ending soon. Maybe I should get in shape to out run the zombies.

So full of faith and hope!

Up now is the lovely show No. 6. It is slowly dissolving into crazy land. Spoilers for Nezumi singing and Sion's mom being annoying.

Should have been Nezumi from the start.

Episode Summary: Rikiga meets with a No. 6 official on the promise of giving a young person over for sex. Whatever sex he was expecting DogWatcher is the person sitting on the bed. Pervert dude pushes DogWatcher too far and she (he?) and Rikiga blow their cover. Nezumi crawls out from underneath the bed and manhandles the creep. DogWatcher runs out of the room upset and Sion goes after her. She is visible shaken from her ordeal and feels as if the others didn’t have her back. Sion tries to comfort her and realizes what DogWatcher’s gender really is (which….I don’t know still). After interrogating the douchebag he gives over plans to the correctional facility. Sion asks Nezumi was the Holy Day pre cleansing operation is all about but Nezumi tells Sion to focus on memorizing the layout of the facility. At a later time Nezumi, DogWatcher, and Rikiga discuss that even though they have the plans for the building breaking in will be impossible. DogWatcher is like haha screw you on plan B I am living fools. Rikiga is like yeah this is a little….much.

Can always count on Sion to bring the sympathy.

Nezumi returns home to find his wifey cleaning up the house. Sion goes on and about their summer plans which include moving in mom and Safu. Nezumi warns him not to make plans so far in advance but Sion has faith in whatever plan Nezumi has up his sleeves. In No. 6 the city gets ready for the Holy Day festival. Momma looks a little apprehensive about the event. Back in Slum Land Nezumi is taking Sion around looking at stuff. Maybe they are buying stuff for pie. In any event Sion wants to know what the plan of action is. Nezumi’s manager appears and wants to know why Nezumi hasn’t been on stage lately. Then BAM! Tanks come out of nowhere and start destroying entire streets and running people over. The manager is killed by a sorta sonic boom type deal and chaos is in the streets. Nezumi does his best to protect them both but Sion eventually risks his life to safe a baby whose mom just died. He manages to get the baby tied to DogWatcher’s dog and tells him to run. The tanks turn on Sion but Nezumi surrenders to them before they get blasted. Sion is very apologetic but Nezumi says the plan all along was to get captured.

This is Nezumi showing how big and bad he is once again. By singing to comfort people.

Momma is walking around when Yoming appears wanting to talk. He starts going on and on about how he is finally going to take the city down and it will be amazingly awesome. Mom gets offended that someone who lost their family is acting so angry and wants to have nothing to do with him. The survivors are herded into trucks to be sent off to their doom. Nezumi sings a song to comfort people but warns this will not be enough to combat what they are about to experience. Elsewhere Safu is about to wake up when Elyurias comes to her and appears to super power her into escaping/killing the nearby scientists. The truck reach the “holding” cell and Nezumi asks Sion to not change who is as a person despite what is about to happen. Then all the trucks dump their human passengers into a deep abyss. THE END!!!

Apparently everyone in the show is not going to talk about the fact that Nezumi is a fairy/tree person. I thought that was a MAJOR point made last episode but this week nope. NOPE folks. So I guess we are just not going to talk about it. Forest people are forgotten.

Photobucket

A what?! TELL ME!!!!

I am still unclear if DogWatcher is a girl or a dude. Perhaps Sion was under the impression that DogWatcher was a boy and that hug signified that he felt some kind of nonexistent boobies? Even though he was really only touching …DogWatcher’s shoulders. So if people around DogWatcher don’t know what sex DogWatcher is I don’t know how we are supposed to.

Photobucket

Just gross. As if people on the outside didn't have it bad enough.

However that almost rape scene was pretty horrible. Whether it happened to a man or a woman being put in that situation is gross. I would hate if DogWatcher was now branded a girl because of her reaction after the fact. I think Sion would have freaked out too. So this doesn’t make DogWatcher any less scary or intimating. I think many people of both genders would be upset over that.

Photobucket

Acting fail.

BUT WHY WAS SHE PUT IN THAT SITUATION?! Um hello we got Nezumi who is a boy who looks like a girl sometimes. So why would they bother putting DogWatcher in that situation. It makes no sense to me at all. I would be freaked out too if I knew my friends were under the bed and not rescuing me. Just…just no. Nezumi should have done it.

After all that is said and done the information gained from the would be rapist was not very good. Or rather the news was not good. I guess breaking into a place designed to keep people IN was never going to happen. They should have gone with the plan to be capture all along but I guess that is risking business.

Photobucket

All my blow up pictures came out fuzzy. Sorry :(

Well yes it is risky business considering most of the people in “town” were destroyed in the Cleansing Process. So Nezumi knew there was a perfect opportunity to be captured yet he really had no way to control the outcome. And Sion likes to randomly do things like save tiny babies so planning for those kinds of things can be hard.

Photobucket

Wait when did I propose?

I find the whole Cleaning Process especially sad given how touching the night before (or nights before, hard to tell) was between Sion and Nezumi. Nezumi knows that things are about to be really bad and that there might not be a tomorrow. He comes home to housewife Sion who is making plans about going to their summer dump and that mom is going to cook them dinner and that Safu is going to be awesome about the two of them having sex in the next room. He is making all these wonderful plans and while Nezumi was probably touched he knows deep down this might not happen. He is also worried about Sion being so far removed from reality. Sometimes things don’t work out Sion. Nezumi expects the worse and Sion hopes for the best. Overall I thought it was a nice moment between a husband and wife.

Photobucket

At least let me save one baby....

So when that all came crashing down it was pretty devastating. Sion was trying to make the best of his situation and he was shown AGAIN how cruel No. 6 can be. Of course not everyone is a killer or responsible for the crimes that the heads of No. 6 are doing. Maybe they are at fault for turning a blind eye or allowing themselves to be so cruel. I mean…can they really all be like Sion and not know about all the people on the outside? But yes I can see how everyone on the outside has such hatred towards No. 6. And hopefully, HOPEFULLY Sion sees the truth about No. 6 and why Nezumi is so pissed off.

Photobucket

If by change you mean....get killed yeah that might happen. But I am sure Sion will still be a happy, optimistic boy.

But that probably won’t happen. Nezumi said he was worried about Sion changing once they were captured but I don’t think that will happen. I mean…Sion isn’t going to walk down the street singing about going to school, packing a lunch, and how Daddy is so nice. I think he will be more aware that things aren’t all roses and cupcakes in the world but he will always try to make things better. He rather save a baby than himself. But he is allowed to do so because Nezumi is there, pretending he doesn’t care but he does.

Photobucket

How can humans treat other humans like this?

I am sensing none of my blog is making sense or doing any of this episode justice. It really was a touching and powerful episode. I think many viewers might have been really affected by how the survivors were herded into the trucks, carted off to their deaths. It was done in such a real manner obviously it drew upon real life instances of that happening. I just thought Nezumi trying to comfort people in what could be in their final moments was touching and despite the conditions they were in the human spirit remained strong in the group.

I really, really hope that these people aren’t going to be ground up into human energy pancakes. Obviously that would be really gross if not stupid. Most of the people were killed in the raid so they didn’t need that many people. But this holding place seems too far away from the main city for it to be a normal correctional facility. I wonder how many people would survive that kind if drop to begin with. X__X But Nezumi has obviously been there before and was able to escape as a 12 year old. Maybe there is hope for everyone else? Why would they need that many people anyway if Safu has been deemed a successful….whatever she is.

I guess I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around people being so cruel to others. After a devastating war that destroyed most of the planet why would they (the creators of No. 6) continue to hurt people and limit their own resources (IE people)? I guess if rotten people destroyed the world rotten people can still exist. Just….I don’t understand how other people could allow that to happen. I don’t know, the out right evils of No. 6 seems almost too over the top at times.

I think Yoming has every reason to be a cracked out crazy person.

I am not impressed with Momma in this episode. I don’t think Yoming was that over the top. After watching all those people get blasted on the street for merely existing the officials of No 6. need to be killed in slow and painful ways. I don’t want innocent people to be killed in the riots but Yoming wanted the truth to be exposed is not so out there and Momma needs to suck it up. I mean…she helped MAKE the city, her son was nearly killed, and she saw an innocent girl get kidnapped for no reason. Yes. It is time to fight back and stop acting so scared.

Photobucket

POWER UP!!!!

Safu becoming one with Elyurias was sorta interesting. If that is what really happened. I guess Ms. Head fairy could have just awaken Safu’s powers. I wonder if that is what No. 6 was trying to do all along, infuse Elyurias DNA into normal humans to get some super powers. But it is probably more likely that No. 6 officials were trying to achieve something else (a better source of power?) and Elyurias just came along to power Safu up and kill some peoples. XD

Nezumi going out of his way to protect Sion...again...XD

In conclusion I think my cats greatly distracted me while writing this blog post. Yes I blame my cats for everything. But No. 6 ended on a horrible note. I want to know what happens after being dropped from the trucks. I want to know NOW! Why do we have to wait until next week? And MOG Nezumi is going to cry?! X__X Are the credits a lie, that Sion is the one who is going to kick the bucket and Nezumi is going to survive all this? Crazy. So much crazy.

This whole time I thought Nezumi is going to croak, but now I think the sacrificial lamb will be Safu. Actually I could see both Safu and Nezumi croaking leaving Shion to face his life alone. But Nezumi has been a survivor from day 1 so it's just not fair to kill him off T_T

Anonymous- I always thought Nezumi would be the one to die, after all that crap about living and only looking out for yourself. But now that he is crying in the next episode I fear for Sion's future. So I guess it is up in the air who is going to die. When really it should be the momma dying to pay for her sins and to protect the young people.

I doubt everyone will survive by the end of this. Tears will be flowing regardless. Poor Nezumi or Sion. Or everyone.

Regarding InuKashi's gender (the mystery continues).

Rikiga: A young girl doesn't look much different from a boy.

That implies Rikiga believes InuKashi is a boy.

Sion: You're a . . .

The guys seem to view InuKashi the same way, though we have no idea what Nezumi believes. I would say InuKashi is a girl.

I do think the writers want to keep us guessing. But it's interesting b/c I believe most US viewers assumed DW to be a girl while the characters seem to act like DW is a guy. Also, I feel like they made DW look smaller when she was pressed up against Sion. I thought it was strange b/c I assumed they were about the same height before. So it's like highlighting her femaleness, her smallness, her frailness.

I'm wondering if a Japanese audience would have assumed that DW was a guy or girl.

And I agree with you that they seemed to be relying upon gendered assumptions as far as how DW reacted to nearly being raped. I honestly believe that most people would react with disgust and fear regardless of gender. Rape and sexual assault are no joke. It can tear someone apart.

Also, it seemed like only Sion cared. I guess b/c everyone else assumes a guy just deals with it or something. But really, everyone should have been worried about DW. I would have been. Nezumi should have dressed up. I mean, he's got to use his acting skills for something other than theater, right?

And I knew something was up with the Twilight House. It's just like in The Giver. They kill the old/useless people. So maybe they killed grandma in order to bring Safu back.

Yoming's reaction to Karan's revelation seemed fast. I expected him to be a little more angry or something. I guess they ran out of time for this episode?

And I can't get used to Nezumi randomly busting out into song. He sings beautifully and all, but I feel the instrumentation kind of ruined the scene.

Like if you've seen Princess Mononoke. When the lyrics "In the moonlight I felt your heart" (or the Japanese equivalent) start it's just quiet, or there's a silence and seriousness to it. I wanted more of that.

This episode was crazy and violent. I can't wait for more. This is probably one of the best series of the summer.

Marona- I suppose that could be it, regarding DogWatcher's gender. Maybe the Japanese viewers automatically assumed she (going to use she to keep things straight) was a guy dude to the kind of language she used. Maybe she was using male pronouns and what not. So the reveal that MOG DogWatcher is a girl was a much bigger deal to them?

But for other viewers watching we were like....yeah she was a girl all along. Why is this a big deal? Of course this all could mean NOTHING if everyone in the show assumed DogWatcher was a girl and finding out otherwise is X__X.

Very confusing stuff. I guess all that matters is Sion was the only one who gave a crap about the almost rape situation. I do really worry about the gender reveal being around the fact DogWatcher was reasonable upset over something traumatic. Just seems too....too something. Awful I guess. There were other ways for Sion to find out her gender. Not oh girls cry it all makes sense now!

I think Karen should have thanked her lucky stars that Yoming didn't turn on her. When he found out about her connection he should have been mad at her (even if later he realizes that she didn't personally hurt his family). But since he was so crazy he didn't stop and think about revenge against her. I wish there was more time to show Yoming's descent into madness though.

I do think Nezumi randomly singing sounded nice but even he said in the end it meant nothing to all those people about to die. I don't know. It was a sobering mood and I guess it couldn't be all doom and gloom. I can see how people would find it weird and how some people would find it nice.

I want to know why this is only 11 episodes long? X__X Seems like so little time to cover so much plot.
