Kobato Chapters 16 and 16B

Kobato is very interesting. One day I am saying the anime is going too fast and the next day I think the manga is going too slow. Clearly nothing will make me happy.

Follow me as I take forever to get published!

Not only does the manga go slllllllllow it gets released even sllllllllllllllllllower. Sometimes I think CLAMP really hates my soul. But then I forgot about X/1999 not being finished and how I think Wish had a different ending planned but somehow it ended too soon and how tons of unanswered questions lurk in their mangas and I keep on reading their work. I am that special.

But Kobato is still X_X when it comes in terms of pacing. Either give us more content or be released on a weekly basis. Stop messing with my mind! Now on to the chapters!

Sayaka tries to make small talk with Fujimoto but his head is in the clouds. Sayaka tries to talk happily about the past and how cute Chibi Fujimoto was but Fujimoto wants to be all doom and gloom and he was thrown away. After Sayaka gets done reassuring Fujimoto he is family she teases him about why he was spacing out. AKA he was thinking about Kobato. Fujimoto tries to cover up his feelings by saying he is just concerned and that maybe Kobato isn’t the brightest bulb in the pack. The topic of college comes up and Sayaka tells Fujimoto to go back, that she has everything handled. Fujimoto doesn’t buy her lie and questions again why she won’t give her gang member husband back his name. Because she can’t ya’ll!

Back in Kobato is special land Kobato is walking with divorce paper girl. I don’t think she has a name. Even though Kobato has no knowledge of Earth and how things are done here…she seems to understand what a divorce is. Kobato questions the girl and the girl eventually explains that she still loves her husband but things have changed between them. Kobato presses more and the girl reveals that her husband is in love with someone else. Kobato starts crying and says that she is sorry for crying and that the girl should be crying instead. The girl hugs Kobato and thanks her for crying for her. Kobato earns a broken heart for her efforts but her plushie pal doesn’t seem impressed. Be happy Ioryogi! Elsewhere Mr. Bear and Ginsei are talking in the restaurant when Kohaku magically stops on by. WOOT..and the end?

So yeah....not a lot of information at all. :( In two months we get less than 30 pages. Clearly we are hated.

Almost too cute for words. Then you realize it is Fujimoto.

Being that I am ME I wonder about what Fujimoto is thinking about. He has been spacing out as a child? ALERT ALERT! This could be an innocent little statement and that a lot of kids go off into lala land and all is fine. OR this is CLAMP and every single tiny detail is important. That Fujimoto could be spacing out as he lives his life in another dimension and he DIED in that dimension and Kobato knew him and is here to go to the place where Fujimoto is.

If this ends up being true I might have a heart attack. After I go I TOLD YOU SO!

Photobucket

Stop ruining the cuteness with your attitude problem!

Of course...it could just be that Fujimoto was thinking about the situation that caused him to be adopted. That is probably the more likely answer. But we aren't supposed to dwell on any of this because Fujimoto changes the conversation back to something less positive. Excellent tactic there Fujimoto.

Photobucket

And then Fujimoto redeems himself. CURSES!

Fujimoto is just so awesome at hiding how he feels. No no, he can't be worried about Kobato because he likes her. No he is worried about her because he thinks that she is missing part of her brain. Only you aren't fooling anyone Fujimoto.

But really Fujimoto should be worried. Even though Kobato sorta...forced herself into the nursery school situation she is in danger and Fujimoto should feel obligated to protect her. Even if I think that means he should push her away and MEAN IT instead of being passive aggressive about it.

Photobucket

Gang members love to take over nursery schools true facts.

I am sure it will turn out ex-husband is just trying to protect Sayaka and he isn't a bad guy. But for now I hate him and his evil ways!

Photobucket

Stop being so vague!

Fujimoto is so hung up on Sayaka keeping gang member's last name. I am sure it will have some great meaning later but for now LET IT GO. Right now her having the same last name isn't going to fix the situation. Maybe Sayaka still loves him. Maybe Fujimoto is jealous. Maybe I want people to actually say what is going on instead of trying driving me insane!

But seriously stop looking so peaceful about the situation. It's creepy.

Photobucket

Kobato handles things in a very delicate manner.

Kobato. I love you. I get that you are the innocent naive girl who is confused on how the world works. Just...try to phrase things a little less....err hurtful next time. Accidentally hurtful of course but still. Sorry to be harsh my little Kobato. But you had to ask these questions because we needed to heal her heart and get her side of the story. So I guess it is forgivable.

Photobucket

Sometimes you have to know when to stop asking questions....

Mystery lady tries to come across as very mature for her age. But since I don't know her age or her name she might be older than I think. That and when you go through something tough like this you can either come out of it a more mature person or become bitter and evil. Very rarely can you pull off being both.

Photobucket

It's bad that her man loves someone else!

I am pretty sure I would be the bitter and evil person. Just taking a wild guess on that one. But what mystery lady is saying is very true. Sometimes it is no one's fault. Granted if her husband was cheating on her then he is a douchebag and deserves to have his balls cut off. But he told her...I just don't love you like I use to and I love this other person.....maybe it wasn't cruel. People do change. People grow and experience new things as they go through life. No one is the same person they are when they are 20 or 30 or 40. It's a sad reality and I much rather someone be honest with me than have an affair and make me hate them.

But if it happened to me I would be finding the girl and cutting her face with a steak knife. It's hard to accept the reality of life when it happens to you.

Photobucket

Even those she is awkward this time she's right! And it's sad.

So even though Kobato kinda made the situation a bit sad and awkward she is able to understand the pain this woman feels. Even if the woman does her best to hide her emotions deep inside. She puts Fai to shame in the fake smiles department! But Kobato crying is so sad yet almost cute! You can tell she really feels bad for this woman after only knowing her for a few minutes. Kobato truly is a kind person despite her lack of tact.

Photobucket

:( Such a child like value system.

I am not sure any words would do this scene justice. Sometimes when you tell a sad story to someone else they get more emotional about it than you do. Maybe because you have had a chance to get rid of your emotions or you are still bottling them up inside. But when you tell someone else they are not trapped by shame or regret or anything. They either put themselves in your shoes or feel your pain for you. And that is what Kobato has done.

Photobucket

Everyone loves Kobato!

Kobato heals another broken heart. And i am sure once again she will be confused how she did so. If anything she might think that she made the situation worse by asking such personal questions. But she really has "saved" this woman. I am sure she wanted to express how she felt for a long time but even now she is unable to. But she now has told someone her story (or rather they figured it out) and tears were shed on her behalf. She couldn't cry them but someone else did it for her. Sometimes you can't do anything to help a person but listen to their story and give your sympathy. Kobato is great at that.

Photobucket

Err...that was random.

So after it is established that Kobato is great at everything we are back at Mr. Bear's shop. Ginsei is making a mess and Mr. Bear is not too happy. Suddenly there is a customer. Why it's Kohaku from Wish! I mean, just talking about her (him?) wasn't enough. We needed a cameo.

Or is it something more than that? Since Wish was actually finished we know that Kohaku and her man (his man?) were reunited after 100 years. But this is CLAMP. It could be the past or the future. We just don't know. There is also the possibility that Kobato has something to do with Kohaku's situation and vice versa. We do know for certain that this is not taking place before Wish as a certain angel has been punished for falling in love with a certain devil.

Ginsei and Ioryogi has also been banished from the place they were from. Because Ioryogi loved someone. One wonders if that also has to do with the Kohaku situation. Or if everyone in heaven, hell, and the underworld are in love with each other and are constantly being "punished".

But aside from that tangent yeah. Interesting situation is interesting. I also might be making too much of the situation as Kohaku might just be a passing character. We will see...in about a month.

Also important to note Kohaku is looking a lot more girl like. Before Kohaku's sex was rather vague but now it seems clear she is a she. Not saying that is a good or bad thing. Wish came out a while ago so of course CLAMP's drawing style has changed. Her outfit is ten times cuter now though. XD

And...that's it. Kobato earns another heart in her jar (which is actually a jar and not some tiny bottle like in the anime) and everyone else is experiencing part of the past. And we have another CLAMP crossover. We will probably have to wait 4 more weeks to get 14 more pages and it will drive us crazy. But we will eat up all those 14 pages and demand more. Because we are CLAMP fans. And Kobato is cute. XD Thanks for reading!

I'll try not to put any spoilers here, so I may sound a little vague:

My own theory is that Kobato is going to be taking the place of Kohaku's job in heaven, and God is just planning things out ahead of time.

I think Kobato's wish has something to do with getting to heaven, and she might be able to get there if she masters whatever qualities are needed to do Kohaku's job, and takes over once Kohaku's story wraps up.

NO idea yet about what Ginsei and Iyorogi are there for.
