What do you mean you don't cater to scammers?!

Today was a massively special day at work. And I left at 5 after which the most special events happened. But I still was around long enough to witness/hear this lovely tale.

Just to be clear...yes, this is going to be true. I try to not be one of those bloggers who tell some awesome story with a moral at the end and pass it off as a real life event. I rather be honest and well....just be honest. The moral of the story is people suck.

3 Wednesday ago an order came in and the customer stated they had a coupon for "meet the manager special". You get a FREE one topping large pizza ....FOR FREE. No purchase necessary. Well, the way you get this coupon by buying a coupon book. But seeing how the book is only 20 dollars and you are saving 7 dollars with US alone I think it is a great deal. So basically most people will only have ONE of this coupon unless they buy more than one of this coupon book (a coupon book fundraiser from some high schools last year).

So ANYWAY this order comes in and I tell them the wait time and everything is fine. A young man comes to pick up his pizza and hands me said coupon. But due to the fact that I am a MORON and that it was busy at the time...I really didn't say anything about the coupon he gave us. Later I looked at it and was wondering X_X when did we put an ad in the paper for the Manager's Special. We didn't because I am a moron. This person photocopied the coupon. -___- So yes this person scammed us and it was my fault. We tapped the coupon and the order to the wall to make everyone aware of the situation.

So last Wednesday this man calls again and says he has a coupon. The manager takes the order and can't WAIT for this guy to come in and see if he will try to scam us again. Because really...a week is not a long enough time for people to forget the scam. Not to mention this plan is full of fail as two of the three people who worked the day of the scam ALWAYS work Wednesday. We will remember.

The man comes in with a photocopied coupon. Manager smiles to herself and pulls out a real coupon and shows him why is this is a fake and we can't accept it. Surprisingly he wasn't really that bothered (which kinda disappointed us as we wanted a show down). He paid for both of his pizzas and left.

Cue yesterday, another Wednesday. This man calls again and says he has a coupon. x_X Seriously?! Yeah, we were all waiting to see how special this man really was. Again we were disappointed as he brought in the REAL coupon this time. We thought our saga was over. You might be wondering at this point what is the point of this post.

Today....we get a complaint. It is a woman somehow related to coupon scam man. She claims that yesterday one of the pizzas was stale. Not cold, but stale. She said one of the pizzas was perfectly fine and she ate it right away. But the second one was made with stale cheese and was nasty. This is funny in itself as both pizzas were made at the exact same time and with the same exact cheese. Our pizzas are made to order: we didn't pull a pizza out of a case and make another one fresh. Pizza tends to get stale when you leave it out all night and try to eat it the next day. This however is not the main X_X moment.

So after the manager gets done explaining that she is sorry that the pizza was stale and explains our pizza making process (AKA you is a lying piece of crap) she casually mentions OH, this was the order that had an issue with a coupon.

All hell broke loose. That or the twilight zone exploded in our faces.

The woman starts off by saying she is NOT trying to scam us. Now....typically when someone starts a sentence off that promising (sorta like "I'm not racist but...." you tend to expect a racist comment) we are in for some sort of adventure. This crazy woman then proceeds to tell our manager that you are allowed to photocopy coupons.

Let's let that sink in. You are allowed to photocopy coupons....

So after my manager picks herself off the floor she explains no, you are never allowed to photocopy coupons and can't think of one place where they let you get away with that crap. Said crazy woman says she does it all the time and everyone takes them. She says on the coupon it doesn't say on the coupon that you aren't allowed to make copies so you are allowed to do that.

Are you still alive? Yes, she said that since there is no stated rule that you can't copy a coupon you are allowed to do so. Because apparently everything single thing in this life needs to be stated for a fact. No where on my fork and knife does it say DO NOT MICROWAVE so apparently I will be safe if I nuke my silverware. This is the thinking of real champions.

My manager somehow kept it together. She states that on the BACK of the coupon there were rules and even if on some crazy universe copying coupons was okay since there was no BACK to said coupon it was invalid. This did not go over well with said crazy lady and stated that she was a loyal customer and didn't want to be treated like a thief.

Let us review her loyal customer track record:

Wednesday March 4th: First time in store. First attempt to scam and leave with a free pizza.

Wednesday March 11th: Second attempt to scam but have to pay for both pizzas.

Wednesday March 18th: Use the real coupon and pays for one pizza.

Thursday March 19th: Attempting to scam a free pizza by lying about the quality of yesterday's pizza.

OF COURSE THIS PERSON IS A LOYAL CUSTOMER! I mean, they have been coming to use for three weeks, one day a week, and tried to rip us off EVERY SINGLE WEEK! Clearly we are insane for not trying to cater to her needs to rip us off. What is WRONG with us?!

In the end the manager did write out that she did complain about the quality of the pizza. However she also left a huge long note to the owner about how this person tried to rip us off three times. Hopefully after my manager called her out on her stupid scam she won't send her man back to get more free pizza out of us.

But I must say...these are rather determined and highly stupid people. I mean...if I scammed a free pizza out of a business I would call it a day and move on to the next hit. It takes a great deal of special to do what these people do.

The logic asounds me though. Let's say SOME places allow you to copy 50 cent off coupons or whatever. Isn't there a difference between saving money...and getting something for free? What part of her logic things that getting a free pizza every week is good business for us? That apparently not EVERYONE does this or every single business would make...NO MONEY AT ALL? ...Stupid lady is beyond stupid.

Oh another moral of the story is I HATE CUSTOMERS!
