Little Busters! episode 10

Hello there my lovely readers! It is I, the one running around doing 15 million things at once. I have many posts that are different levels of done and I was trying to post them but yesterday didn't seem like a good time to do so and Thursday left me feeling drained from work. So...here we go folks!

Too much touching!!!!
Up first is Little Busters! episode 10. Spoilers for Riki picking just any person to be on the baseball team.
Photobucket
I have guns like that too.
Episode Summary: All of the Little Busters are practicing baseball. Like actually practicing and stretching and what not. Haruka wonders why she is so squishy and such after working out. Riki and Rin are like that is because you really aren't working out. This ends with Rin being chased around because some want to know if Rin is squishy. Haruka tries to copy Masato's moves but he is too busy being insane. Kyousuke arrives and announces that practice has to become harder as they are going to prepare for their first game. Masato points out (after making a mistake) that they need one more member. So everyone decides that Riki will find that last person. FUN! During practice a ball goes rogue and Riki runs after it. It lands near Mio the bookworm. Riki trips over her and she says he hit the spot a baseball just hit her. Riki apologizes and runs off, noting that she looks lonely. During lunch the next day Riki can't find Mio. He then remembers what the other students call her (shadowless) and finds her outside with her umbrella and book. He gives her heating pads in case she has bruises and she gives him her bread crusts she was going to give to the birds. Mio explains that she doesn't really like birds as they never stick around even though she feeds them. She talks about how things that have wings can't be tied to the Earth. She apologizes for talking too much and Riki leaves. He talks to Kyousuke how he thinks Mio is lonely and that he chooses her to be apart of the Little Busters.

Just run away and don't listen to him!
At lunch the next day Riki is given leftovers and he tries to talk about the book she is reading. She talks about how it is important to her. Riki tries to ask her to join the Little Busters but she declines. She says she will tell Riki why if she learns to trust him. Riki thinks it has something to do with why she doesn't participate in gym and always has a parasol. They both leave to change for gym and Riki notices some girls giggling after the fact. Yuiko approaches Riki with Mio in tow. Apparently her favorite book is missing and Yuiko tells Riki to go help her. Riki immediately thinks the girls who were giggling when they left the room stole it because they don't understand Mio. Mio asks Riki to not look for the book but he insists. But Mio explains that she rather think it is lost than learn the truth that people hid it on purpose. Riki understands what is going on but says there are good people in the world and she needs to learn to trust. Yuiko appears and has a shy girl in tow who put the book in her desk as she didn't want to ask who it belonged to. Riki asks Mio what kind of book it is and it turns out it is a book of poems. Riki doesn't get the book but asks Mio to join the team again. Mio says she would like to watch all shy like and does so later. Something amazing is coming we are told. THE END!

That might spice things up a bit.
YAWN! So much YAWN!!!! I know slice of life/harem animes can get a little formulaic at times but this one is starting to take the cake. That and I hate sports so you know. XD
Photobucket
Well someone is a bit RUDE!
More practicing? I am shocked folks! It is like they are a team or something. As annoying as Haruka can be I think I would be like her. Like gosh folks I have stepped up my exercising routine by 100 percent and I am still squishy. But since I don't exercise at all it would seem like a lot to me and barely anything to anyone else. So...stop judging. Power to the squishy people.
Photobucket
We need Riki to get more members STAT!
I think the whole song and dance routine about Riki being the one to find the last teammate was a bit silly at this point. We all get it. Riki is the only person who can find a member. I would have said LOOK KENGO just hit the ball a few times and call it a day. Kyousuke is making Riki find people on purpose and everyone else is like well Riki is pretty awesome. Yeah lets let him keep doing all the work even though it lessens our chances with him ourselves. Riki should have just said yeah on it and not bothered with that whole scenario.
Photobucket
Uh....does that mean you can't play baseball with us?
Obviously Mio is the next girl up but I am not sure why. I was just assuming from the umbrella that she had a medical condition or was avoiding the sun. Not really baseball material. The other girls might not be great at sports but at least they seem capable of learning them. Or doing them. I would have assumed that while Mio is a lonely girl maybe she is not capable of certain tasks and asking her to play baseball might be rude. Spend time with the girl yes but don't involve her in sports.
Photobucket
What could this all be about?
After hearing about Mio though, the small amount she did say, I am thinking she might not have a health condition. She might just be shielding herself from the sky. The talk about birds flying away from her and how those with wings can't be tethered to the ground to the poem talk...it sounds like she might be a healthy/shy girl who has an issue with the sky for some reason. I am sure it is sad and what not but Riki will solve her condition and she will play baseball soon.
Photobucket
Wonder where Riki learned that from....
Riki is pretty insistent though. It comes from his past experiences of being alone himself that he can't stand seeing others alone. It is hard to tell though if Mio wanted to be alone and the shadowless comments came from that or Mio was alone because of what others said. I remember a girl in high school I tried to befriend because she always was alone in the cafeteria. It got to the point where she would eat at the end of the table with us but that was all. I suppose she was okay with being alone and maybe I should have minded my own business. I guess Riki can't help but be pushy.
Photobucket
Why thank you so very, very much.
On a side not who gives someone breadcrumbs? I would rather receive nothing than breadcrumbs. Weird little girl indeed. It was for the birds! But then Riki was just as weird eating said breadcrumbs! The leftovers the next day was a bit odd too but it was better than the breadcrumbs. I thought something comical was going to happen from that but I guess it was all in my head.
Photobucket
Okay that was special too.
The missing book event was special. Yuiko was odd trying to get Riki to help when HELLO she could helped too. Which she ended up doing. Had she just done it though Riki would not have hurt Mio's feelings with thinking that this was a mean prank. Like why would I ask someone to do something when I could have done it in half the time and probably better? But Riki has been labeled as the problem solver so it might be easier to pawn it off on him. Or maybe Yuiko thought it would be easier for Riki to help because then he could ask about joining the Little Busters.
Photobucket
:( Poor Mio, she must feel so left out.
While Mio's way of thinking might not be the most mature or healthiest in the long term I do understand where she is coming from. It would be easier mentally to think that the book accidentally got thrown away or left behind that to know that someone did in fact steal it/hid in from you. I hate the What If game, it drives me crazy with all the different possibilities. But maybe people feel better knowing it could be anything and not the worst thing possible. Me if my husband doesn't answer the phone he is dead in a ditch somewhere. For Mio he simply is out buying me the most fabulous gift ever. And given how much people talk about her I can see Mio trying to protect herself that way.
Photobucket
Amazing things like winning a game? XD
Mio opened up a bit about why the book is important to her but without knowing her sad backstory it didn't make much sense to Riki. She didn't explain her medical condition but she did agree to watch the Little Busters practice. Which means that Riki is one step closer to finding out her story and getting her a uniform. For now it seems that all the members are in place and besides Komari we will circle around and find out more about the girls and how Riki can step up and fix their problems no matter what. I am not sure when it will circle around to Mio again. Maybe she will just remain an honorary member/cheerleader?

Hi @Christina

About Riki eating the breadcrumbs. Well, I guess it's a sign that Riki accepted Mio's friendship by eating the food. Personally, I would have preferred sharing a hamburger or long-sub sandwich with a friend but that's just my preference.

Riki to the rescue again! It's always Riki. I know he's the protagonist of the show and this is a harem anime (somewhat). But it could be a little bit more realistic with the other guys lending a helping hand--no idea why Masato, Kengo, or Kyosuke aren't assisting with the recruiting. Maybe they're too busy watching Zetseun and going crazy over whether evil(?) Aika will return or not. Lol!

What is it with all these books? First it was Komari's chicken book. Now it's Mio's missing book. Book of poems indeed. There's probably a poem named Tiny Rainbow CAT written by an insane writer who was inspired by an insane school girl named Mato. Maybe I would have been more accepting of the situation if Mio lost her glasses or homework. Then it wouldn't have reminded me of pretentious symbolism for rainbows! >:[

At least Mio got the book back and we wouldn't have to see her cry and scream over missing her Edgar Allen Poe poems.

I still don't see anything supernatural or occult about Mio, like what Eternia hinted at. All I see is a shy bookworm that's just minding her own business and who is a target for baseball recruitment. I still would prefer dragons over mysterious occult if they're going to inject the supernatural in this show. But that's just my opinion though.

That's my thoughts on Little Bustahs.

Anonymous- I was a bit....okay about the breadcrumbs. I would share my lunch with someone but if I only have the undesirable parts left I would offer them nothing. In that case nothing might be better. Bird food indeed.

Kengo is the most disappointing person isn't he? Like he doesn't even belong to the group at all. Everyone needs to help out with Kyousuke's dream but Kengo being MIA all the time is the saddest.

So many anime characters obsessed with things in the sky or flying themselves. Um they are birds. They are going to run away from you just like other wild animals. Missing the book was sad for a hot minute and I am glad she didn't handle the situation by cutting her hair...or other people.

I don't see anything special about Mio either. Unless she sparkles in the sunlight and she is a vampire and someone named Edward stalks her. Then it would be....well superspecial, not supernatural. XD

eternia said...

You guys don't see it because she's not a vampire. And she won't actually die / burnt / disperse / hurt when she's exposed to light. But still, people would roll their eyes with gaping mouth when they saw her under sunlight. Remember how the classmates call her "shadowless"? They might said that as a form of bullying, they must have never expected that...
All right, stop there (smacks self)

Oh, Kengo. He will join the baseball team later, don't worry. Remember how Kyousuke said that he will join? The word of Kyousuke-sama is absolute.
:-D

Eternia- If Mio turns out to be a sparkle "vampire" I will scream. My eyes might pop out of my head or roll down the road. XD

Maybe Mio glows in the sun, instead of glowing in the dark. And she smiles because who doesn't want to be a walking glow stick? Yeah that is what I thought. XD

If u have played the game or read the actual novel, you would be well aware of many things that might look strange or weird in the anime (as if it wasent strange enough lol)

For example the fact that riki is the only one that does recruiting (to a certain extent) or the book theme but that is also explained in the game and will be even more explained in the extra routes.

great review anyway :) loved the game and the anime is keeping high standard

Sibus- I think that Kyousuke is pulling all the strings thus he manipulated Riki into bringing all the girls into the fold. Sure Kyousuke could have done it but since Riki has the lonely kid backstory going for him it works. Plus Kyousuke KNOWS things, that note leaver.
