Sword Art Online episode 13

Two anime posts? I am on a roll! Now I can start blogging the new Fall Anime 2012 woohoo! Will start tomorrow if I continue to feel better. Longest cold ever right? Glad it wasn’t the flu though. Although isn’t weird to be sick and still be hungry and able to eat normal foods? Like yep can’t breathe but everything is okay in tummy land.

Kirito and his tiny little tea cup are not amused.
What is up now? Sword Art Online episode 13. Spoilers for killer fish and Kirito making lots of faces.

But no pressure! XD
Episode Summary: Kirito is fishing on the lake and not having much luck. An older gentlemen by the name of Nishida joins him and shows Kirito how it is done. Nishida very casually mentions that he worked on the security for this game in real life but now he is a fisherman. He knows he can’t go back to his job in the real world so he will focus on being happy and fishing in this game. Not that it matters as he can’t make anything he catches taste good without soy sauce. Enter the amazing Asuna who is the soy sauce master. She makes them a fine meal and Nishida is happy. Asuna repays the compliments by talking about how Kirito never catches any fish. Nishida explains that the big lake things are hard to catch and that there is a GIANT fish in that section that he is trying to land. So he decides that he and Kirito will switch during fishing and will catch it that way. Kirito gets roped into things and it is eyerolling time. That night Kirito and Asuna cuddle up and talk about how people are living their lives normally in the world despite it being a game. As nice as it is they will have to go back to the front lines but after more time has passed. Yay snuggles.

Nope vacation over!
The next day is the big fishing event and tons of people show up. Kirito gets embarrassed but they manage to land the fish. Kirito turns around and sees everyone has run away. Because the fish has legs and is running towards them. Asuna sighs and takes out her sword and squishes it. Everyone is like MOG it’s Asuna and she gets hugs. Before Kirito can smile or be jealous he gets a message from Heathcliff. Next scene Asuna and Kirito are dressed in their normal clothes. They promise they will help out this once and be back to their cabin. Nishida sends them off as Asuna explains how she only focused on fighting in the beginning of the game. But now that she has Kirito she has happiness in the game. They go to Heathcliff who explains that they sent a squad of 20 to scout the latest dungeon (75). 10 people entered the room and it sealed up on them. When the door opened no one was there and the monster was gone. Apparently crystals do not work there and people are worried. So Heathcliff decides that they will all go in as a huge group thus they need Asuna and Kirito.

Nightmare time!
Kirito agrees to this mission but says his primary focus will be on protecting Asuna. Later though he asks Asuna to not go at all so he won’t worry about her. Asuna says she would be left behind to worry for him and if he doesn’t return she would kill herself. Kirito mentions running away but Asuna talks about how their bodies might be deteriorating in real life. So they really need to clear the game. Asuna and Kirito arrive at the meeting place and get lots of stairs. Klein and Egil also show up so yay for friendly faces. Heathcliff leads everyone to the dungeon which looks empty at first. Asuna notices the monster is on the ceiling. It falls to the ground and kills two players in one hit. Everyone panics and attempts to stay alive. Heathcliff uses his sword and shield to protect players and Kirito and Asuna team up to fight off the main arms of the beast. That should leave the rest of the less dangerous body for everyone to attack but it is mainly the speaking players doing all the work. Can they do it?! THE END!

X_____X Did I watch an entire episode about fishing online? OH it was only half an episode was devoted to fishing? Thank goodness. But I am a bit sad though. When I was watching the fishing parts I was thinking of all the Pokemon jokes I could have used. Can I still use them?

Everything is all better weeee!
Okay. So I am glad that Asuna is back to her normal self. I was quite concerned with her crazy self with the whole Mommy issue. I mean it when I say that. I was like MOG why is this happening?! I am all for showing different sides of a character but I was having Guilty Crown flashbacks, with characters taking crazy turns for the worse. Maybe I am overreacting but Asuna was really in a bad place, before and after Yui died. But everything is better now folks! Yui is on her necklace and she will be downloaded…somewhere….for Asuna to pretend is real. In any event maybe Asuna has still lost her mind and she is just pretending all is well in the world.

I feel bored for him!
Kirito on the other hand has become boring. Fishing? FISHING?! I know you got married and all dude and probably haven’t gotten much action after the whole Yui thing….but fishing? Are you an old man now? I would be looking bored too. It is one thing to be taking a nap under a nice tree and another thing to be forced to pay attention to a tiny piece of wire that may or may not catch a fish eventually. Poor bored Kirito. :( Aren’t they supposed to be spending time together? At least be old and read books or play card games together.

Just slide that in there.
Kirito meeting Nishida was a bit odd. Like they have been in that house for a few days now and obviously a young couple would garnish some attention. Did no one bring this young couple a gift basket? No jell-o? I did think that something was going to come from Nishida talking about working on part of the game. But maybe that will come up later? Like the tiny little seeds of OH I SEE. But I doubt it for some reason. Like it was a throw away statement.

You can have SEX in this game. Why are you asking questions?
The whole Asuna making the fish tasty and the fish catching….event…was sorta boring. More like predictable or something. Nishida has been stuck in this game for 2 years and I saw some other older men around before the event o fish. Are you telling me that Nishida wouldn’t ask one of his fishing buddies to help catch this legendary fish? I mean Kirito is very strong yes but probably has no skill points in fishing. Almost like Kirito can do anything and when people meet him it is like THANK GOODNESS now we can do it! Anime magic.
Photobucket
You just left me!!!
Although it was funny watching everyone run from that crazy looking fish. Even Asuna. EVEN KIRITO! Like hello are you guys hiding out from everyone because…while the fish was ugly it probably wasn’t that powerful. Couldn’t they see its stats when it was running at them? I wonder what it dropped…..

DOOM WORDS!
And then…the fun was over. I was actually kinda shocked. I thought this was going to be a happy episode after the whole dead kid incident. Nope. Lets get this happy stuff over with. In the back of my mind I thought oh this is going to be bad. Kirito and Asuna are going to make memories in this house, meet nice people, and promise to come back here as soon as possible. Clearly that means that this cabin in the woods (WATCH THE MOVIE!) is going to be burn down. A real lake monster is going to pop up and kill everyone. Asuna and Kirito will return and a dying Nishida will smile and be glad they made it out. Maybe something to do with that smirking guy we saw few episodes back?

Kirito and Asuna have to leave this fish paradise because Heathcliff has summoned them back home. Now I won’t have gone without an explanation. Sure they got one once they got there but I would need more than that to leave. 2 weeks isn’t anything after 2 years of hard work. They should have put up more of a fight there.

Stupid boss monsters ruining honeymoons.
Heathcliff had a good reason though. When 10 people are randomly killed in a dungeon and they are probably good players…it might be time to call in the amazing players. I wonder when they the players are going to start assuming that this anti crystal room thing is the norm, not a weird bug. It makes sense. The harder the boss the harder the entire experience. At least I don’t think it is glitched. Proceed with caution from now on and go in with EVERYONE on the front lines the first time around. Might be a pain but better safe than sorry.
Photobucket
Because I love you okay!
I liked that Kirito showed his vulnerable side this week. Now he has a reason to worry about how a battle turns out. I do think that he cared about people before but now he realizes that maybe he can’t protect everyone. Before he could be like OKAY I will do all the fighting and you sit there and look pretty. But now Kirito realizes he can’t control everything. He might have learned that a while ago with that small guild but now he has Asuna. He has to be worried. He wants to think of his future and a future without Asuna isn’t one he can bear. So he asks her to stay behind, maybe so he can focus on fighting better?
Photobucket
Yes be firm Asuna!
While Kirito was trying to be nice Asuna was right. Like hello so it is okay for YOU to be in danger but now me? When we would have a better chance of surviving if we BOTH went? And how would Asuna feel if Kirito didn’t come home? Exactly. So while Kirito was trying to protect Asuna it goes both ways. But I like that Asuna didn’t get angry and explained herself reasonably. Well and talk of suicide and what not.
Photobucket
So much suck, so little time.
A lot of real life topics came up today as well. Nishida talked about how he probably wouldn’t be able to go back to his job. I don’t think I thought about that but I probably should have. Especially in a society like Japan where old salarymen are getting replaced by the newer crowd. Such a depressing thought. Asuna also brought up a good point. While alive their bodies are probably not doing so hot in the real world. Like how they just threw the hospital statement in? But yes while a lot of people, even Kirito, want to run away and live their lives in this game…they might die in the real world before that can happen. Harsh realities folks.
Photobucket
I only showed up for the drops!
I was really expecting more people to show up to this huge dungeon take down. Like tons and tons of people. I thought Asuna had a huge guild. I think there were more people at the first boss than at this one! Maybe they were leaving some people behind in case everyone DID die and they needed to protect the other players. Still I was like…pitiful. And everyone glaring at Kirito? Like maybe he should have been with the first group that died? Give me a break folks.
Photobucket
At this point there should be more players that are close to being amazing. Not as amazing as our heroes but a decent chunk who can help out.
Especially since Kirito, Asuna, and the other three speaking characters were the ONLY ones to fight against the boss. Everyone was in the corner crying and saying how this is awful. Like what is this?! You all have made it passed 74 levels and are acting like this is your first battle?! WHY! I mean obviously it SUCKS watching people die but chances are you will die too if you sit there and do nothing. Why is it always the speaking characters doing all the work? Back them up!
Photobucket
Apparently not....
So there we have it folks. Heathcliff is amazing, this monster is strong, and everyone has to make shocked faces every single time a monster shows up. Where have all the fishes gone?!

You're complaining too much without reading the novel 'first hand' . The part of yui was downloaded to kirito's nerve gear is real. Yui has a big cast on the following chapter and she is not dead.

Asuna's behavier on the yui part is actually her real personality on the real world, she just pretend to be strong hearted.

As kirito is a real genius on the real world he created a device to communicate with yui for both asuna and himself.

RainZ- I can only comment on the show with the information they give me. I know that sometimes when animes are made from other types of media a lot gets lost in translation.

While Yui might be saved in Kirito in some way I still find it creepy the way Asuna bonded over the girl. Asuna might be a sweet girl in real life but there is a line between caring and creepy. Asuna is creepy for acting like a mother over a kid she knew for less than 24 hours. I get this game makes people act different than they would in real life but it was still unnerving to watch.
