LOOK! More anime episodes! You have not been forgotten my loyal readers. Kira has been keeping me company on the couch as I spend 3849384 hours on the internet. Ah the internets. Two days without it feel like a lifetime. That is probably a bad thing right? At least I didn’t spend the entire trip texting. Probably because my phone is a million years old. XD Those crazy kids, doing things on their phone that aren’t texting or calling.
Keeping the train going up now is Zetsuen no Tempest episode 3. X__X Again I typed a lot of this almost a week ago. I am a slacker. Spoilers for Yoshino trying to be more amazing that Kirito. As if that is possible.
No. Fighting with metal rings and poles is better okay!
Episode Summary: Mahiro continues to fight against Natsumura despite Hakaze telling him that is a bad idea. Mahiro is like HAHA no I want to fight. So onward they fight until Mahiro is forced to flee. Natsumura and his spear start looking for Mahiro but Yoshino and his candy bar finds him first. While Mahiro is appreciative of the nom Yoshino gives their position away and they are forced to run again. Mahiro gets them to the top of a parking garage structure but starts losing talismans as he has used lots of magic. Hakaze starts yelling that Mahiro needs to just leave while Yoshino explains he is there because his girlfriend would yell at him if he left a friend behind. Mahiro leaves the Hakaze’s talking device with Yoshino as he jumps down to battle Natsumura. He instructs Hakaze to teach Yoshino magic in three minutes which both people are left saying WHAT?! Hakaze explains that this Tree of Genesis her brother Samon is trying to resurrect is actually the source of all their magic. The tree helps stabilize the logic in the world and as a gift for using its magic mages must offer it up a piece of technology from their civilization. Being that this is a logic magic tree one cannot use fireballs and what not. Yoshino questions if someone can be brought back to life with magic and Hakaze was like stupid were you just listening? Hakaze is curious though and wonders if Yoshino wants to bring back Aika too.
What is with the dramatic pause there?
As Mahiro and Natsumura fight Hakaze explains that Natsumura is actually using high level defensive spells on his spear which turns into a destructive force. The magic itself is not destructive as their magic is more on the healing/fixing/speed/defensive side. Yoshino makes his way to where he thinks Mahiro is but the two have battled somewhere else. Mahiro started to act in a crazy manner, disregarding his own body to attack. But Natsumura manages to deal some real damage which leaves Yoshino running. Bleeding Yoshino thinks back to a time where Aika took care of him while he was sick. Aika told Yoshino he can’t die that easily back then so Yoshino decides that applies now. He finds a gun off a body but leaves behind his phone in the process. Yoshino is running all over the damn city looking for Mahiro while Hakaze talks to him. He thinks to himself how weird it is that this magic tree needs a civilization in exchange for magic and how living things are turning into metal. He locates Mahiro’s cellphone and immediately thinks of a plan on how to find his friend. He also takes note that military helicopters are bombing all the roads out of town.
Um you can't blow the town up when I am in it!
Evangeline is seen getting the hell out of dodge while she is told about how the area is going to get quarantined. Mahiro isn’t doing so hot and has been chased into a tunnel. He resorts to trying to shot/explode Natsumura but that doesn’t work. Yoshino appears out of nowhere and saves Mahiro just in time. He used healing magic to track Mahiro. He then leads Mahiro out of the tunnel just before the helicopters explode it. Mahiro pretends to be mad that Yoshino didn’t warn him but they laugh together. Natsumura explains to Samon that these two kids escaped and wonder how the princess even got in contact with them. Samon thinks to himself how the Genesis Tree has picked Hakaze after all. Yoshino and Mahiro take a train to…somewhere as they see a report about how the military is covering up the disaster in town. Hakaze says that the two boys should focus on stopping the resurrection of the tree, something that can be done without their asses getting kicked by mages. Yoshino is on board with not getting their asses kicked plan. Mahiro smirks and it is explained that Aika’s killer is in the Kusaribe clan. So obviously he is all for mage ass kicking and tree stopping. Elsewhere some kids are singing a weird song about the tree while an older couple talks about how all the young people got off their yard and went to summon said tree. THE END!
Because her words actually make sense!
Oh look. A show that I don’t know exactly what is going on and maybe contain some MOG moments but I don’t want to tear my eyes and hair out while watching it. And that show promises me some yaoi where as in this one I am just dreaming. But since the internets has declared that show magical and the best thing ever and this one for dummies…well long live the dummies? XD
This was super dumb Mahiro. Super dumb indeed.
Mahiro going up against Natsumura was dumb. It makes sense later in the episode when Hakaze and Mahiro explain that someone within the Kusaribe clan killed Aika. So in Mahiro’s mind he will eventually have to go up against Natsumura unless they determine the actual killer. Maybe Mahiro should have gone in with a plan…some more training…a better weapon. Anything other than what he did.
Town full of dead people...but here is a candy bar.
Yoshino and his candy bar self was cute in this episode. Like oh hi I see that you are in a fight with a powerful mage but I brought you a Snicker’s bar. Because we are best friends. Yoshino and his little why aren’t you using fireballs?! Adorable. And then when Mahiro wanted Yoshino to learn magic in 3 minutes…it’s almost like the entire world is in danger but Yoshino finds time to point out the obvious. Which is tons better than the entire world being in danger and finding time to sleep with every one of your friends and they are sleeping with each other in a giant pile of fivesome. See cute?
Magic is logical! Duh folks.
So while Mahiro went to go fight Natsumura again because apparently the results were going to be different this time around…stories! Explanations! And this time it wasn’t with an Eevee Fail. Yoshino’s very good question of why the heck they weren’t using fireballs or summoning dragons. Because this type of magic is made of logic. Because as we all know magic is logical (eyeroll here). So obviously there is something up with this tree. Maybe you use my power and in return I will turn your emotions into energy and save the universe by killing a few humans. XD So while this seems like BORING magic….it does make sense. Defensive, how Natsumura made his spear into a weapon o mass destruction without breaking the magic rules, and how basically Yoshino and Mahiro are playing with sparklers and everyone else gots the big fireworks. Why is Microsoft word underlining my sentences?! Are they not logical?!
Me thinks that Yoshino has the same questions too.
Now I do have one question folks. Or maybe a series of questions. We learned this week that I was indeed wrong and Hakaze does not need people use magic. No blood sacrifices here. Woe is me. But maybe she still killed Aika so there is hope for that…although Yoshino has basically been ruled out a suspect. Back on point though. One actually needs a part of civilization to use magic. The bigger the better. That I understand although Natsumura wasn’t poofing cars every minute. Maybe he cast one spell on his spear and it stays forever. Hmm.
Would the tree reject my sad little cellphone?
My real question would be does this tree KNOW how civilization is now? Meaning that it knows we got computers and cars and airplanes. Because this tree has been around for a while and I am assuming so has this family. Surely they used this tree back in the day where the printing press was the best thing ever and guns were AMAZING. So does the tree want stuff from the current civilization? Because couldn’t Hakaze build something that is a part of our civilization…just in the way past. LOOK THE WHEEL! Or has the tree gotten so greedy it needs all the newest and shiniest objects because it doesn’t want to wait in line on release day? Maybe I am on to something along with Yoshino. Perhaps this tree is gathering something up, something that Samon isn’t aware of and Hakaze is. I must think about this and how I might be right or blowing things out of the water. Must think.
Good thing magic can heal. No fireballs but healing is okay.
Putting aside those questions and how the tree might not have much of a civilization to eat if it turns everyone into stone…Mahiro did a great job of getting his butt kicked. Clearly he is lucky to have made it this far in life. Aika I am sure that Yoshino saved Mahiro’s butt in those fights because Mahiro is not a very logical person. Okay maybe I am being a bit too harsh. I am sure he was thinking some steps ahead but it did look like a lot of swinging and beating. It was like watching The Walking Dead that aired this Sunday. Some newbies to the Apocalypse rushed in to kill the walkers and the veterans were looking on like….noobs. I think that is what Natsumura was thinking watching Mahiro flop around with a few magical items.
All Mahiro has left now is anger. But then he shows us these happy memories and we know he is still human.
The magical Aika flashback of the day came when Mahiro was injured and hiding. I mean obviously he got injured. Lucky he didn’t get killed. But during that moment Mahiro thought to how his sister would tend to his wounds after getting into a fight. During a dramatic moment Mahiro joked about dying and Aika said that Mahiro won’t die that easily. That means now Mahiro and his bleeding self found the power to get up and keep on fighting. Yay for dead sisters.
Also while all of this is going on Samon is sitting down acting like he is running a company instead of doing something....weird to the world.
While this is going on Yoshino got his magic lesson right? Both Hakaze and Evangeline think something is up with Yoshino and I tend to agree. We didn’t see how fast it took Mahiro to learn this magic business but it seems that Yoshino is a super quick learn. Jumping all around and tracking Mahiro with healing magic. In the midst of all this chaos Yoshino noticed the helicopters and was able to plan out an escape route. The way he is hiding his feelings about Aika and how everyone he knows is dead but keeps on trucking makes me think he might not just be the cute best friend. He might be a little crazy. But a cute crazy. He seems to be keeping it together long enough to do great in battle.
Well...Yoshino might be less logical after learning this.
I say all of this because Mahiro and Yoshino will probably make a good pair from now on. Mahiro is like oh time to fight LETS DO THIS! Yoshino is like no no lets not fight..but if we are this is how its going to go down. This is probably more beneficial for Mahiro though. By some anime magic both boys are able to escape the town. Which means it is time to laugh and reminisce about being friends. Oh I see. Yes it is time for laughing.
The old people don't seem very concerned....
The episode ends with Samon being informed that the boys have escaped and Yoshino being told the truth about Aika's truth. Samon is taking this as a sign that the tree is really on Hakaze’s side. HMM what does that mean? Maybe Samon wants to use fireball magic and is pissed at the tree for making magic “logical”. But then there were some young people and old people walking around all peacefully talking about what Samon has planned. If Samon was so evil why would these people be supporting him? Now I am doubting that he is trying to destroy the world. Well of course unless he plans on sacrificing all of the technology for his grand plan. That would just be too evil for words!!
