It's Monday and I am feeling less lazy today. That and my online game sorta pooped on me so I have to wait for that issue to be resolved. So yay for blogging about our cuties over in Pandora Hearts.
The plot is moving along at a slow pace but that is okay. I think that Oz needed a bit of reality check and episode number 5 was a good place to slow things down and explain things to Oz. Because it is not all cupcakes and rainbows Oz. :( I am sorry.
So let's get to the review and summary shall we? XD Enjoy the happy SD moments of this show as I think they were some of the funnier WTF moments thus far in the show. Thanks for reading.
Break gives Alice and Oz their very first assignment. There have been murders happening in a nearby city and they believe it is the result of Illegal Contractor and her/his Chain. Break says that Alice and Oz will go with Papa (Raven) and arrest this criminal. Break tries to bribe Oz with candy and Alice gets a little upset. Alice thinks this mission sounds stupid but Oz tries to convince her that a memory fragment might appear where a Chain is. Alice and Break exchange not so friendly words but Alice finally agrees to go along with this mission. Break tries to warn Oz about Alice. Break says that even though Alice is being friendly with Oz she is hiding something and he needs to be careful around her. Oz smiles and says that Break is hiding more than Alice is thus he should be more wary of Break. Raven, Oz, and Alice set out in a carriage where Alice reexamines the watch and declares that nothing is special about it now. While walking through town Alice gets side track and Raven runs after her, warning Oz to stay put. While waiting Oz sees a young homeless girl trying to sell flowers on the street. She is harassed by a rich woman and then sexually propositioned by a creepy old man. Oz mistakes the old man’s…offer as good one and congratulates her on the sale. He flirts with her for a little bit until Raven and Alice return. As Oz runs off the girl’s Chain talks about how yummy Alice looks.
At dinner Raven and Alice scream at each other and Oz finds it interesting and thinks Raven looks like Gilbert. Later that night Oz questions why anyone would be tricked into becoming an Illegal Contractor. Raven says that the Chain probably lied and said that they could change the victim’s past or future. Raven explains a little bit about how a Chain will gain this power by eating humans and how the Contractor will get a symbol on their chest. When the symbol is complete….Raven chooses not to finish his story when he sees Alice is asleep and wants to go investigate this Contractor. Oz decides to tag along and leaves Alice a note. Close by the flower girl allows her Chain to eat the perverted man and his whole family. Raven gets a little frustrated with Oz and how he is not freaked out by all this crap in his life. Oz tries to explain his feelings on the matter and that even though he wants to find out this “sin” he has committed, he is more worried about Alice. Raven smiles and says that Oz has changed. Alice wakes up just in time to save herself from becoming a splat cake. Back at the house Break is smiling to himself knowing that he kept important details from Oz and Alice. Break thinks it is better that they learn the truth about their situation and that he is being kind about the matter.
Oz and Raven make it back to Alice and there is a little bit of running around and fighting. Soon it is revealed that the young flower girl is the Contractor and that the symbol on her chest has been complete. She glows purple and the Chain starts being dragged into the Abyss. The Chain grabs her and starts dragging her as well. Oz runs to save her but Raven stops him both times. Break continues his little speech to himself (and Sharon) about how there are only three ways things can end for Oz and none of them sound awesome. On the way back home Alice is really concerned about what will happen to Oz if his symbol is complete. Raven gets all pissy and says that Alice should have thought about before she made the contract. Alice claims she had no idea what was involved with a contract as this is her first one. She then continues to ask how she can save Oz. Raven smirks and says that she could just die and save Oz. Alice doesn’t really like that answer and spazzes a little bit. Oz is a little sad about the girl being killed and wondered what she was trying to change. Elsewhere the robed people are talking about Oz and how he has escaped the Abyss and how eventually he will return to the mansion. THE END!
Yay for another episode of Pandora Hearts. And yay for a different kind of Chain that doesn’t look like a porcupine on crack. XD So woot for action and more yays for a tiny bit more of information. And cute Oz being a stupid moment.
I am surprised that they didn’t mention more of the Pandora organization. Instead Break just says HEY you work for me and that is that. Everything is set in stone and his words are law. We don’t get a greater understanding of what is going on and Oz is okay with that. He is just going to roll with the punches and not ask any questions.
Alice is like that too. But I think that goes with her not really giving a flying cupcake and getting what she wants out of Break and his organization. XD I think she does know this all sounds a little shady and worthy of asking some questions..but that would require effort and she rather scream. Which is fine as it leads to some cute SD moments.
I am not quite sure why Oz and Alice were sent on that mission. Perhaps it was only to show Oz how stupid he was for becoming a Contractor and that Alice really is evil. Whatever the case may be it seemed like that girl and her Chain were on their last leg anyway and they were going to go splat before our crew got there. Break is just so wonderful in showing Oz that big picture.
In regards to that mission…..boring. The character was supposed to tug at my heart strings and make me feel bad for her but really I was yawning in my seat. No back story and no explanation on why she made a contract with a Chain to begin with. I found the scene with the creepy guy hitting on her gross but it was overlooked by the fact that Oz TOTALLY missed what happened. So that scene came off as funny rather than sympathy inducing. All I saw was some crazy girl allowing a Chain to eat people and she got sucked into the Abyss because of her crimes. Not really feeling this non important side dressing.
Oz and Alice are positively cute together. The way Alice was worrying about Oz in the carriage gives me hope that she really cares about Oz and isn’t someone who is out to kill her Contractor. Oz being all scared about Alice almost being mushed by the Chain and going back to protect her was AW! Alice isn’t doing a good job keeping up her tough girl image with these cute moments but that’s okay. She can be a cute pretend badass instead.
I am glad the rumors about Alice/B-Rabbit were false. I was getting kind of worried with the fact that she has killed previous Contractors before so I am glad that was a pile of garbage. Makes me wonder about who started these rumors and for what purpose but I am will just focus on being glad for now. I kinda want to know why the other Chains fear B-Rabbit so much if she hasn’t done anything that scary but I am sure that will be explained. Or at least it better be.
Raven/Gilbert also gives me hope. Apparently there are ways to getting out of this contract thing before the seal is complete. Not that he was giving many awesome options but he did imply at the end of the episode that it won’t be an automatic death sentence for Oz. I am sure that he rather take Alice out instead of thinking of anything else but Oz will be saved. Break wasn’t very great as a bringing of hope with his cryptic ending thoughts but anything is possible.
Gilbert! Stop being Raven! It upsets me greatly and I only can blame you for Oz not knowing who you are. I mean, Oz is pretty much a special little moron with many redeeming qualities. So it is hard for me to blame Oz for not realizing that Raven is Gilbert. So stop being so broody and crying in the corner. What does he gain from keeping the truth from Oz anyway? I think that it would put Oz’s mind at ease knowing his friend was still alive. Gilbert’s reason better be good or ELSE!
There was a brief moment in the show where I almost had a WTF moment. When Break was whispering to Oz there was a change from the normal animation and it gave me Mariaholic flashbacks. Horrible, terrible nightmare inducing Mariaholic flashbacks. I do not want this show to rely on cheap animation tricks to sell its story. Every single show on the face of the planet is better than that or at least it should be. Thankfully it was limited to that one scene and it didn’t bleed over into the rest of the episode. I will hold off on having that heart attack. Just don’t let it happen again Pandora Hearts.
So yay for another cute episode. It had some laughs, a bit of plot, and a tiny bit of action. XD Not much more you can ask for (unless you are a guy and you need boobies). Hope that next week’s episode is just as interesting. XD
