Eden of the East Episode 5 Summary and Review

Is it already time for another Eden of the East post already? This season of anime seems to be flying by for me! Perhaps that is because I have decided to only watch animes that I am really interested in and not filling my schedule up with just okay animes. Seriously what was I thinking?

And yes this post is slightly late. But its Mother's Day. XD Had to spend the day with my mom and all the family drama. But since I see my mother almost everyday anyway...it really wasn't different. Just tried to watch my tongue and nod my head a lot. But anyway HAPPY MOTHERS DAY MOMMA!

Photobucket

Oh crap, gotta call my mom! Wait...who is my mom?!

As always, there are spoilers and what not. Not that I know what is going on at this point or anything, but spoilers none the less. Thanks for reading. XD

Yay for cookies!

Somewhere in a swanky looking hotel room a half naked skank wakes up. She calls Juiz and tells her she messed up and needs a clean up on isle 15. Because you know, there is a dead guy tied up in the bathroom and all. The skank does not seem shaken up over the dead man at all. Akira is thinking about how he ended up in this special game and wants to throw away the phone. Then he realizes that if he does destroy the phone he will be killed. During his mini rant a man approaches Akira and goes to town on him on how Akira abandon them all and left them all in a difficult situation. When Akira acts confused the man realizes that Akira erased his memories he eases off a little bit. He ends the conversation by saying that eventually what Akira did worked out for them all and he leaves. Akira is all X_X wtf just happened? At the bakery Saki is very dramatic about putting an apron on and doing 3 seconds of work at the bread shop. Her brother in law makes special Saki shaped cookies in honor of her job interview. Saki decides she doesn’t want all their kindness and stomps out. Saki meets Ohsugi on the bus and they talk about interviews and how one of their friends might become a NEET or something like that. Ohsugi ends up asking Saki out and she kinda says yes.

Stop being nice to me!

Akira is growing more frustrated with how this whole Selecaos thing works. He accidentally orders Juiz to make the prime minster say Uncle. After that useless (or maybe not) scene he notices that Saki texted (??? X_X) him yesterday. He texts back but she is walking into her interview at that moment and ignores it. Akira thinks that Saki must be pissed at him and asks Juiz to track Saki down. The other Selecaos want to know WTF is going on with Akira’s weird requests. Prostitute Selecao is particularly interested in his request and her tasty steak. During Saki’s interview she is asked about Careless Monday and the terrorist attack. She gives her honest and confused answer and the interviewing manager is a jackass. He basically gives her the brush off but invites her to lunch anyway. So she sits in the lunch area for an hour and no one shows. A waiter comes by and knocks a bowl of food all over her. The two women that were in on Saki’s interview go to the restroom and gossip about how stupid Saki is and how the manager had to pull the beef bowl in the lap stunt to get rid of her. Sadly Saki was in the bathroom when all this gossip took place. Saki’s sister gets a phone call about the interview and she is grateful her sister got such an opportunity. She puts on a sad face when she learns it was for nothing but keeps up with the thank yous anyway.

I will not be ignored!

Ohsugi is racing to meet up with Saki but Akira arrives there first. He apologizes for “ditching her” the other day and she pretends to still be mad. However Ohsugi arrives just in time to see Saki on the back of Akira’s bike. They travel around to the city and end up in a pretty picturesque spot. Saki realizes it was their right to reject her but hates that fact that so called adults couldn’t just tell her straight up NO. Saki feels as if she let her family down and she can’t return home (especially to her brother in law). Akira is quiet why Saki cries….then suddenly kisses Saki. He tells Saki it is okay if she doesn’t work for a while and that he would handle everything. Saki questions who Akira really is and he says that even though he doesn’t know he will work to find out. Meanwhile Ohsugi has decided to get himself really really REALLY wasted at dinner (with a male friend and not his Saki) and tries to stagger outside. Prostitute Selecao sees Ohsugi and gets that SCARY LOOK like she is about to cut his balls off next. X_X The end.

Doesn't look good for him. X_X

Holy Selecaos Batman. Even though hardly anything happened in this episode it seems like a lot did. We were bounced around to different people and situations and it felt fast pace…even though I think about it now and it really wasn’t. XD

Let’s start with Saki since her problems are on the small side yet they made me so angry. Perhaps because her situation is more relatable and it is easy to put yourself in that situation. Seriously that interview made me upset.

Photobucket

Well, small compared to this......

I get that she missed the first interview and they were being kind by even giving her a second one. So maybe they have a right to be a LITTLE upset and slightly stern. But what they did to Saki was beyond rude! Apparently having a slight bit of power in life gives you permission to be a total douche bag and you are allowed to ruin other people’s lives. Thank you managers of hope. That is certainly the way to bring new/young people into the fold.

I am not sure what was wrong with Saki’s answer. Personally I do not understand why that question was important to whatever that business Saki was applying to but it was way too much. 8 years later and if some potential employer asked me my thoughts about 9/11 I would not be sure how to answer. I mean, there is a fine line between unleashing your honest feelings and giving a polite answer that offends no one. That is the closest example I can give to the question Saki was asked. And I feel it was bull crap.

I think since Saki knew she was in deep trouble for missing the first interview she wanted to play it safe with her answer. And really given the fact that the situation had dramatically changed from destruction with no causalities to an entire plane crashing down….I can see how she is still trying to process the information. So I give Saki tons of sympathy for being confused with that answer.

Photobucket

Saki needs a little bit of sympathy.

Now yes…Saki was getting the brush off from that manager/hiring person and it was kinda obvious. But Saki did not deserve to get treated like that. If you are some big shoot who makes the big bucks you should be able to tell some potential employee that she will not be hired. None of this oh have lunch and let me spill soup on you deal. That is complete bull and I want to stab that jerk for being such an asshole. Not to mention those two loser bitches in the bathroom. Just keep on pretending you are better than everyone else. I am sure that Akira and his 10 billion yen will set you straight.

Photobucket

You can fix all my problems?! X_X

Akira is funny. XD He wants to find out about his deleted past and accidentally orders the Prime Minister to say Uncle. Not quite sure will come of that but hopefully he wasn’t charged too much for that act. Then he tries to fling away the cell phone before he realizes that the Supporter might come and kill him. XD Not that Akira being dead is funny but the faces he made while realizing how messed up his life was is slightly amusing.

Photobucket

Monkey Akira to the rescue.

So…a little confused about the guy who confronted Akira. Naturally as Akira has no idea who this crazy man is either. Oh, but I did look up the word NEETS because I decided it actually sounded like a real term and not a made up anime term. For those who do not know, A NEETS is a person who doesn’t have a job and is rebelling against the norm of Japanese society (the definition is slightly different in regards to other cultures but in Japan it is more derogatory). So basically NEETS are a bunch of fresh out of high school kids unsure what to do with their lives. So I am not sure if this man who talked to Akira is a NEET but that is a thought. Perhaps Akira is finding a way to inspire these NEETS and help them find their own place in the world. But again just a thought.

Photobucket

Full of spirit. XD

So in between Saki and Akira’s own personal drama we see a few other Selecaos. The lady appears to be a prostitute in the first scene but later in the episode she is acting like a modeling agent (maybe) and is living the high life. Ohsugi better watch out before he becomes her next victim. And really…did that lady bite off that dude’s penis or something? X_X

Photobucket

Such wonderful people these Selecaos.

The other Selecaos weren’t doing anything exciting so not too much to say about them. Only that they are spying on Akira and think that Number I will be interested in Akira’s activities. But it does appear that more people are aware of the process to eliminate your own memories which is extra special. Maybe next week we will get more of an explanation but the SLOW pace actually works. Because things are actually be explained.

Photobucket

He looks so pleased. XD

WOOT! And by woot I mean YAY FOR KISSES! Okay, so it was a little fast and unexpected but hey it works. We all want them to be together right? And when I am having a rough day and the world is treating me like crap receiving a kiss from a handsome…stranger could be nice. In the real world maybe CREEPY but in the world of anime that is WOOT gold star.

Photobucket

Does it look like she kissed back?

I love how Akira is promising to make everything right for Saki. If I had 10 billion yen I would try to use it to better the lives of the people around me. Granted that is a butt load of money and it would be better to help out TONS of people at once, I think starting at home is a good idea. I am sure everyone knows someone who could do GREAT things if only given the chance. I mean, maybe Saki will be able to change the world in some way because of that job. Good deeds trickle down so I think Akira spending some of his cash to help out a friend is an admirable thing.

Photobucket

Akira is a force to be reckon with!

But on a personal level it is just cute. XD Akira doesn’t really think long term sometimes and just acts on instinct. Well that is only natural since he has erased all his long term plans so it is only natural he kinda acts impulsively. Akira will come riding in on a white horse and save Saki. Now the only question is will she let him?

Photobucket

Looks like she trusts him to me. XD

Given the fact that Akira is going to focus on Saki for the time being I would think that would keep the other Selecaos off his case. Even if that is only for one episode/one day. I am still not quite sure what is going on with this whole situation but that is what makes this anime fun. XD So here I am waiting for next week to roll around to see what will be in store for Saki and Akira (hopefully more kisses).
