Chrome Shelled Regios Episodes 12-14

It feels like forever since I watched Chrome Shelled Regios. I guess it only has been a little less than a month even though it feels longer. But I mostly caught up and that makes me feel a little less lazy.

But I was still slightly lazy. When I saw the previews for episode 15 I figured this would be a good stopping spot. 12-14 dealt with all the same subject matter while episode 15 looks like it is going to either be a goofy episode or an episode that will have too much annoying fanservice. So...I only blogged episodes 12-14.

I did things a little bit different this post as all the episodes related to each other and it was easier to blog it all together than each episode separately. Also I am lazy. So enjoy my attempt to catch myself up and be prepared for 3 episodes of confusion!

Clearly that is a boy. Clearly.

Episode 12 Summary

Photobucket

Layfon is always ready for battle!

The traveling city has reached a Selenium mine and Karian and his right hand man Vance look on feeling relieved. They catch that bald head guy from platoon 10 (Din) looking off in the distance and the moment feels useless. A traveling bus approaches the city and Karian looks concerned. Back inside platoon 17th is having a great time bonding and throwing balls around the room and each other. The loser has to buy dinner and Nina ends up being that loser. Before they can enjoy dinner bald headed Din walks up to the group and picks a fight with Sharnid. Sharnid jokes around and asks casually how Shena is doing. Shena is the blond with the beyond creepy curling (not curly, CURLING before your very eyes!) hair. Din doesn’t take KINDLY to questions and screams a little bit. Sharnid goes bar hopping as the other members go home. Felli and Layfon question about Sharnid’s past. Before they can get to the root of the issue Naruki comes running up and says she needs Layfon’s help. Felli pretends to be okay with that but really goes to town on a pole in frustration.

Photobucket

Exactly.

They arrive on the scene of…something and the situation is explained to Layfon. Someone was pretending to be a student and was trading around Overloads to people. Overloads are used to increase their awesome kei abilities but with nasty side effects. Layfon eyes his special kei eyes to see what kind of people are hiding in that building. Sharnid is bar hopping still but he is only pretending to be happy. He thinks back to happier times when he was in platoon 10 and they all wore matching uniforms with capes. While walking around Sharnid sees Shena and stalks her. The gate of the building explodes and all the people run. Layfon goes after a special eye patching wearing fool. Nina is running around in a towel because apparently she thinks Layfon is in danger. She uses her kei ears of awesomeness and hears what is going on. Everything gets a little confusing with all the characters running around so it is the perfect time to switch to Engrish. The bridge is still collapsing and the lady in the car is freaking the heck out. The man on top of the car fires on the screaming heads surrounding the car (exactly) and the little girl driving falls through a hole in the road so she can drive away.

The horror...THE HORROR!

…So yeah, Layfon catches up with eye patch boy who seems to know Layfon’s past. Once he takes off his eye patch Layfon recognizes the eye tattoo as one from the Salinvan Guidance Mercenary Gang. Yeah….anyway, Hier (eye patch boy) explains that he isn’t here to trade the Overload but is after something much more important. He is after the protection fairy of the fallen city that Layfon’s group just visited. You know, that GLOWING RAM! Hier goes on about how they are somehow connected as they trained under the same style/same teacher and makes no sense. They fight for a little while. Sharnid tries to sneak up on Shena but she comes up behind Sharnid with her special lance of power. It appears that Shena knows what is going on with these drug dealers but Sharnid makes a huge deal about not seeing her there at all. Nina shows up to help Layfon and Din is off being weird and rubbing his ears. The next day Shante and Gorneo are eating breakfast when they feel a presence in the room. It is Hier and his archer friend Myunfa. Elsewhere in another traveling city Leerin and her father have an audience with the Queen. Her father is happy that the Queen cares about his recovery and other things that don’t seem important. Leerin asks about Layfon and if he can ever return home. END OF CRAZIES EPISODE EVER!

Photobucket

Everything she says it super important as noted with the dramatic hand movements.

Episode 13 Summary

So the Queen decides she is going to answer Leerin’s question but only refers to Layfon as it. She says it is free to come back one day but due to what IT is it probably won’t want to come back. Then she talks on about how Leerin’s dad needs to pass on the Psyharden skill now that Layfon is gone. Gorneo questions why Hier and his lame friend Myunfa are in his room. Hier explains how he is looking for the city fairy of that dead city and thinks Goreno might know what is what since he was there. Gorneo thinks that Felli might know something and feels as if it is his responsibility to help out for some reason. Layfon gives Harley his broken weapon and Harley wants to make him a katana this time since that is how Layfon usually attacks. This apparently goes against his beliefs and he is mopey in the dorms. Back in Engrish land nothing makes sense as those three car people make it to a hotel room and talk to a fat man. Naruki confronts Layfon and Nina and asks for their help on that Overload crap. But she won’t tell them why she needs their help until they agree to do so. Felli is confronted by Heir and Myunfa. She goes to attack them but her brother stops her and looks happy to see the freaks. Nina and Layfon are told that Din is the one who is taking Overload and he has to be stopped. Naruki wants to capture Din even though Nina understands why he would take drugs like that.

Photobucket

No one understands me!

Shena is busy stalking Din around the city and he pretends to be okay and healthy. But really the Overload is starting to affect him. Nina confronts him and tells him there are other methods he could use to protect the city. He pretends to not care as he stomps away. Naruki asks Layfon and Nina what went down and is angry that Nina gave Din the head-up on this situation. Nina explains how this is all her fault because Sharnid is on her squad. Because once a long time ago or two years ago when Sharnid was in platoon 10 he was cool. His team was unstoppable and everyone looked up to them. Then Sharnid quit in the middle of the match and just walked away. Din beat the crap out of him as a sign that he cares and the next day Nina begged Sharnid to be on her platoon. So clearly it is her fault. Naruki says that she is going to tell her boss this information anyway.

Photobucket

American hamburgers can't do that! :(

Sharnid walks up and says that he knows that Din was doing drugs. Somehow it is decided that if Din is arrested this is going to affect the school badly and everything they know will be ruined. So they go to Karian with their concerns. He agrees that they won’t let the police handle this matter but Din has to be taken care of. Meaning that his kei has to be cut off forever or something. Heil walks in and says that Layfon can do this because he has Psyharden skills. Layfon and Heil fight for a little bit and Karian tells them to calm down. Karian says that they are working with Heil so they can get rid of the rouge city protector which brings disaster for all. The platoon match between 10 and 17 is about to start and Sharnid is wearing his old outfit and has a request of his teammates. THE END.

Did someone call for a dramatic entrance?

Episode 14 Summary

Photobucket

Memories....like the corner of my mind!

Turns out that his favor is to take out Shena which apparently is important to him. Nina talks about how they haven’t decided if they are going to go with the President’s plan. This prompts Sharnid to tell his sad tale. When Din, Shena, and Sharnid all started out at the school they worked really hard for their squad leader. Their squad leader is a boy despite him looking exactly like a girl. Anyway, they all worked really hard for their leader and then the intercity matches took place. They lost and their squad leader was BEYOND upset that he was graduating and being a loser apparently. Those three then made a pact that they would protect the city in place of their leader. But then Sharnid quit for some good reason that is not explained. This means that Sharnid has to end the friendships once and for all apparently.

Photobucket

Time to die!

The match gets underway and Sharnid separates Shena from the rest of the group. They fight for a little bit and Shena tries to hack his head off for leaving them behind. Sharnid said he was just trying to save them and that Din’s way was only going to kill him. The Engrish people are boring as the place they are staying at is attacked. Leerin is boring as she goes on and on about Layfon not returning to his home city and what that really means. Layfon runs into Din who is glowing red now. Layfon notes how strong Din is now but takes him down really fast. He seems to block off his kei thingy with the Psyharden skills but…THE RAM OF DOOM takes control of Din. It is very special. Heil and his people move in to kidnap Din so they can get control of the Ram. Nina figures out that the city fairy synced up with Din due them both wanting to protect a city and both feeling like they failed. Sharnid and Shena do their epic fight…but decide to go and save Din instead. Layfon stays and fights Heil. Heil talks more about the city fairy before he goes down. When more people show up Sharnid and Nina take them on so Shena can go save Din. Saving apparently consists of her telling Din she loved him and that they can stop fighting now. There are other people that will protect the city for them. He cries and the ram leaves his body. The end.

Photobucket

I am shocked that ROMANCE saved Din. Just simply shocked.

Well….that was interesting to say the least. Apparently I picked a good time to fall behind as all these episodes were Sharnid’s arc and they would make more sense all grouped together.

Photobucket

Let's pretend the Engrish didn't happen this week.

But I am not sure even watching all three of these episodes back to back made that much more sense to me. My brain felt really exploding after all this mess. :( It was just…a lot.

Photobucket

But at least my boobs don't sweat like Nina's...

It felt like too much even for three episodes to handle. We weren’t introduced to TOO many characters but they were not explained very well. No one who knows Layfon prior to his arrival to this city is explained very well. I get that Layfon already knows about this organization and doesn’t need that much explanation. But I do. And I didn’t get why a group that sounds so illegal should be morally correct in Layfon’s eyes.

Photobucket

Everyone loves Layfon!

I actually thought the RAM was going to be explained and I guess it was. But not in a way that I thought it was going to be. I thought that it was going to be a different kind of entity. Then I remembered that I am not quite sure what city fairies are anyway. I thought they were all going to be cute like this city’s fairy. You know, that fairy tree in Nina’s dream and all.

Photobucket

Kill those who make no sense!

I also thought the RAM was going to be different because of the fact that Leerin might be one? Or one is near her and protects her. How many ruined cities are there? And if having a dead city fairy is so dangerous why is Leerin walking around and not being hunted?

Photobucket

It sparkles!

It was not explained why getting this city fairy was important. Can you harness power from them? Are they really that dangerous? Are they a hot selling ticket items on the black market? I never really understood what was important about them. And I get that maybe I am not meant to know how important they are yet…but everyone was acting like they knew what it was and why it was important. So I wanted to know too.

Photobucket

Cue the tears!

The whole back story behind platoon 10’s demise made me laugh. And made me roll my eyes. And piss me off that even that couldn’t be properly explained. Seriously, they are that made at him for quitting? I don’t see how Sharnid’s vow is broken. He said that he was going to protect the city with them. Even if they are in different platoon’s they still can protect the city. Yes I would be upset that he left my platoon and caused me to fall in the ranks. But they seemed to be more upset that he broke their vow…and that I find stupid.

Photobucket

SMASH HIM NOW!

WHY DID SHARNID LEAVE THE PLATOON TO BEGIN WITH?! Dear lord, can’t anything get explained in this show? At first I thought that Sharnid left because of the “drug abuse” but that doesn’t make any sense. Unless these illegal traders had come to the city before. But even if that was the reason he left that makes him a really crappy friend. You don’t leave a friend who has a drug problem. So either we have no reason or a crappy reason. Woot for choices.

Photobucket

Such friendship.

Regardless I found the whole situation over dramatic. Shena and Din need to grow up and Sharnid needs to be more opened with people. And their old platoon leader had real issues. Real special issues. Because you know how it was HIS fault they lost the city match (which is impossible because Nina says it is HER fault). How do these kids think they are so important that they are the sole reason for losing? I understand losing in this situation really, really sucks but getting that over dramatic about it is laughable. Do your best and maybe you can do better next time.

Photobucket

This being the crowning moment of dramaticness.

Naruki needs to learn how to do her job with Layfon’s help. She wants to be on the police force not Layfon. I get that the case is hard and needs strong people to deal with it..but Layfon is not a police officer. Every time something gets too hard she comes running to Layfon. She will never learn how to do things on her own if she doesn’t even try. But at least her annoying little stalker friend didn’t show up.

Photobucket

Layfon cleaning up her messes.

Felli is a little psychopath..but I love her little pyschopathness. Apparently no one can talk to Layfon now without making her jealous. Or maybe she is just tired of people using Layfon too. Poles better beware around her.

Photobucket

Take that pole!

I am not sure why Gorneo and Shante were in this episode. More connections to their home city and how everyone knows about the RAM and these mercenaries except me? Or because it is fun seeing Shante act like a fool? Personally I think they were trying to top episode one by how many characters they could get into this plot. They might have topped it…but it just felt crowded and useless at times.

Photobucket

At least someone is confused with me.

What else happened in this long arc? Very few questions were answered and many more were formed. I guess besides learning what/why a city fairy is so important I am most curious about why the Queen referred to Layfon as it. Overall I guess these three episodes were just okay. Maybe if there was less focus on Sharnid’s platoon 10 drama and more about the RAM it would have been better. And drugs are bad mkay?

Photobucket

Layfon=it. Got it.

Photobucket

Drug make you glow red!
