Pandora Hearts Episode 11

Yes Pandora Hearts is going to be posted today. Since I didn’t leave the house the chances of evil crazy people ruining my day were cut down dramatically thus my day was drama free. Rejoice with me from being free from drama (at least for one…).

This episode was really good and something I was looking forward to it for a while now. I like getting answers to obvious questions and these answers came in the middle of the season instead of at the end. Rejoice for not having to wait months to find out about Gilbert’s past.

...going to give us answers!

So as usual there will be spoilers for this particular episode. So no complaining later how I am ruining the series for ya. XD And there were also be my crazy theories that may or may not be right or even close to the truth. But they might be spoilerish so be warned…and enjoy. XD

Yay for Alice's one scene!

Oz is thinking back to the events in episode 10 when Alice breaks the silence. She wants to know who Vincent is as he left her feeling uneasy. Gilbert comes in the room and explains his name is Vincent Nightray…his younger brother. Break is outside saying goodnight to Echo and Vincent. Alice and Oz settle on the floor as Gilbert explains how he became the adopted child of the Nightray family. After Oz’s coming of age ceremony went slightly wrong most people forgot about what happened. Baby Gilbert was injured and sad he lost his master. Break appears with a tiny umbrella saying that Gilbert could get his master back. At the same time Sharon was talking to Uncle Oscar about how the Nightray family wanted to adopt Gilbert and how her family is the go betweener. Sharon explains that the Nightray family adopted a boy already five years ago. He was injured and without a family. Oscar was all like MOG just like Gilbert. It turns out this young boy Vincent is Gilbert’s brother and the Nightray family wants to reunite the boys. Outside Break is telling Gilbert this very same information. Gilbert is shocked by this news but doesn’t want to go with the Nightrays (as they are mortal enemies with Oz’s family).

Break has always been a wonderful person apparently.

After Break teases Gilbert for a bit he says that going with the Nightray family might help him get Oz back. Gilbert freaks out as he sees that Break is missing his eye. After he gets done screaming and having a crazy attack Break explains his eye was taken a long time ago and they need to get back to business. Break says that Oz being dragged into the Abyss is a part of something much bigger and that Gilbert can be his spy within the Nightray family. He says that if Gilbert goes with the Nightrays he can obtain the power of Raven and rescue Oz. Break smiles when Gilbert seems to agree and tells the boy that they will just be using each other. In the end Gilbert decides to leave Oz’s family and join the Nightray household. As he walks through the big house he is watched by two other boys. He is taken a room with a baby Vincent (who has two different colored eyes by the way) and Gilbert freezes. Vincent goes to hug Gilbert and Gilbert pushes him away. Gilbert almost remembers the past, with a bloody sword and the two being together but his mind starts to hurt. Before he can fall apart Vincent hugs him and it is okay if he doesn’t remember. Vincent is happy to just be with his brother again. For the sake of his master Gilbert tries to get along with Vincent and they spend tons of time together. After a while Gilbert asks Vincent about the Abyss. They talk about how hundred years ago the four grand duke houses that saved the country. Vincent says the reason these dukes are still in power is because they have the Gate of the Abyss. Gilbert touches the gate door and he is taken to see the Chain Raven. Vincent pulls him back through before the bird attacks him and explains how the four duke houses use the Chains to hunt down the illegal Contractors and spy on each other. Vincent becomes really creepy explaining this all.

Reminds me so much of Break.

It is revealed that Break explained to baby Gilbert how the Nightray family was on the outs with the other family and thus were asked to the more underhanded jobs. Knowing that he would become stained Gilbert chose to become part of that family and made the contract with Raven. An adult Gilbert meets up with Break and they love each other so very, very much. Break talks about how Gilbert is so much more useful now that he has a Chain and that it is time to get Oz out of the Abyss. Break wants to know how Gilbert is able to stay so loyal to Oz and that his devotion is creepy. Break warns him that that loyalty will become disastrous one day and he holds his face where his eye used to be. Break does not listen to his words and marches away. We are back to the present and Gilbert has finished the story about his past. Both Alice and Gilbert fell asleep during his story. Instead of being mad he thinks back to how Break said one day his loyalty to Oz will work against him one day. As Gilbert holds Oz Uncle Oscar closes the door on the sweet scene. Break wants to know why Oscar won’t visit with the boy but the two men decide to have drinks instead. Oscar gives Break pictures of what the group saw at the mansion (Alice’s memories) and apparently they are events from 100 years ago. Break smiles and says everything is going to come together and the lost memories will connect them all. Oh and Break promises this will all make sense. THE END!

Lies! My devotion will never cost me my life!

MMM I love episodes that sit down and explain things to me. Often my head feels like exploding due to the lack of facts or details but this episode did a great job of piecing some stuff together. Of course there will always be more questions but for now I am happy.

Eyes are overrated anyway.

My first thoughts after watching this episode were…yeah Vincent totally stole Break’s eye. Then I realized that I watched this show for 10 episodes and failed to notice that Break was missing an eye. I guess I am just too use to weird anime hair styles and thought this was just his way of being special. But in any event…yeah, I don’t need anyone to explain to me that Break was talking about Vincent when he was referring to Gilbert’s blind devotion. And eye patch PLEASE!

Photobucket

Oz...you are full of fail sometimes. Cute...but full of fail.

My second thought was…well that episode was a waste since Oz didn’t hear any of it. Had I been Gilbert I would have looked a little more upset that I spilled my guts and apparently my story was not interesting enough to stay awake for. But Gilbert loves his master so we got a cute little hug instead. So this episode was for viewers, to explain what was going on so we don’t riot in the streets. Which is fine and all, but I wish Oz could have been awake and initiated the hug.

Not so happy family reunion.

We finally know about Gilbert’s past. And surprise I was wrong about Gilbert actually belonging to the Nightray family. He is just adopted which I initial thought but changed my mind about. But no, Gilbert and Vincent are adopted and we are still unclear who their real parents are. We just know they both appeared at rival family houses bruised and battered 5 years ago. Gilbert has no memories of what happened before he appeared at Oz’s house but Vincent does.

Photobucket

Random Nightray kid is not pleased.

There is a question of why the Nightrays wanted to adopt Gilbert. It is implied that they wanted Gilbert to make a contract with their house’s Chain but that seems a bit fishy to me. They already had Vincent and there were two other little boys walking around the house. Why would they need another adopted kid to make the contract? No, it seems more likely that Vincent wanted Gilbert back in his life and the Nightrays wanted to make their lives easier or make it easier to control Vincent. Or maybe they just didn’t want Oz’s family to have an heir to contract with a Chain. In any event, something is up.

Not happy times....

Especially with the brief memories that Gilbert does has. Bloody swords are never a sign of a happy childhood. Tie in the fact that Vincent is/was acting like a freak, Vincent has Break’s eye, and Vincent and Gilbert don’t seem to have a good relationship now and I am going to guess that there is more to this happy story that Gilbert is letting on. Or knows. It just makes Gilbert a more tragic character and shows how he is willing to do anything for his master.

Photobucket

Baby Gilbert was brave to not pass out...at scary Break.

Break has been behind a lot of the events that have been happening lately and he has spent the last ten years orchestrating people/actions to his advantage. I am not sure what he is going to achieve by making sure the Nightray family is watched or that Gilbert has accessed to Raven but I hope it is more than revenge (for his eyeball). Also I wonder why both Sharon and Break have Chains when it sounds like each family only has one….MMMMM more questions.

Photobucket

I'm not sure about the heroes part now....

Everything is connected to the 100 years ago event. At least according to Break. And since Break and Oscar were also referring to Alice’s memories it is safe to say she was around for said event. Which means either Alice is dead or Alice was preserved in the Abyss for all this time. I tend to lean on the Alice died and became a Chain side of things. No new news on the person who looks exactly like Alice and what she has to do with anything but that can wait…for now.

Photobucket

I think Oz seeing you is more important that sleep...but that's just me.

It is nice to see that Uncle Oscar is still around and cares about Oz. Of course he knows more than he is letting on too and I am sure he knows about who/what Oz’s father is. I hope that Oz has a chance to reunite with what is left of his family later and this shady behind the scenes stuff will stop.

Photobucket

I wish to know who Gilbert killed...

I thought that there was going to be more shown about the Gilbert’s progression into Raven but I guess it is well implied. Gilbert lost his “innocence” when he had to kill for the Nightray group and I am sure the transformation was over time and not just BAM. I guess I am disappointed I did not get to see adolescent Gilbert. :( Cry for me please.

*insert dramatic walking away scene*

So this episode was great. We had some of the past explained and the reason why Gilbert turned out to be so emo revealed. We have more of a clear picture on who Vincent is even though….it is not that clear yet. We learned that Gilbert and Vincent really aren’t apart of the Nightray family so that will be interesting when we do find out about their parents. Oh and that Gilbert’s undying love for Oz will one day kill him. After all this seriousness I think we are in store for a light hearted or action packed episode next. But that is okay. I got my yaoi hug and that is all that matters. XD

Your foot is in the way of my hug......

One thing I should say; the two boys in the Nightray house are not random, you saw them in the opening scene and they'll be important characters too (if Xebec decided to follow the manga...)

Anyway! Kappei Yamaguchi'll be on this week's PH! Yay! As a cat! Woohoo!
