YAWN!!!!!! Kira is being cute at the end of the bed, all tucked up and sleepy. I shall follow her example soon. Or at least I will attempt to. The second I lay down to sleep she will magically wake up and demand pets and playing and all the sorta stuff she should have done the entire time I was awake. Kids gosh.
Before I pass out in my bed one more post wee! Zetsuen no Tempest episode 11 already? Spoilers for Samon having a permanent eye twitch.
Episode Summary: Samon continues to melt on the ground as Mahiro and Yoshino decide they are going to save Hakaze. He worries they will figure out the one way to bring her back from the past. Hakaze explains that they are talking through the dolls as they are similar (IE the same) and she used her blood to make the magic strong. The more of herself she puts into a spell the better it will work. Now what can they use that is here and on the island for Hakaze to transport into? Mahiro is like um can't we use your skeleton? DUH! While Hakaze tries to recover from that mind blowing information Junichirou arrives to save Evangeline because obviously her boobies are amazing. Natsumura is like...the world is at stake here can we focus? Junichirou puts Natsumura on his butt several times despite not knowing magic and tells them both to stop fighting. To let the fate of the world be decided by those other two boys. Junichirou also forces Natsumura to heal Evangeline so there can be a possible love story later. Back at Funny Faces R Samon the boys talk about how things won't work out if Hakaze teleports herself here as Samon won't find her bones on the island later which means Trunks won't be able to come from the future and Yuno might be stuck in a time loop. It is decided that magic is so logical Hakaze will just transport all of herself OVER the bones and leave her current bones on the island so Samon will find them. Hakaze points out that this would take a great deal of offering, none of which she has any of.
Samon starts to freak out and tries to go Kayne West on everyone and interrupt the conversation. Samon basically says that there is an offering big enough on the island to do exactly what Yoshino planned out. But the entire world has been based on helping Hakaze because of the Genesis Tree. Thus the tree planned out her rescue and Mahiro's involvement THUS the tree/Hakaze killed Aika. Or are at fault. Both Yoshino and Hakaze note that could be possible and Hakaze herself feels slightly guilty. Only Yoshino gets all CAN I GET A WITNESS and starts preaching it is Samon who needs to be shot full of lead and not Hakaze. Hakaze decides that Mahiro is crazy and Yoshino is only stalling for time. She takes off looking for the offering that Samon hid on the island. Outside Junichirou and inside Samon both start talking about how if someone in the clan DID kill Aika there would be blood. No really that person would probably be killed as the rules are super strict. But if that person did kill Aika for the good of the tree the Tree of Genesis might forgive them but there would be evidence of an offering. Samon says that is proof the Tree/Hakaze are to blame. While running around Hakaze talks about how no one was caught in her magic web meaning that someone who can use magic (in the clan) must be involved. Mahiro takes a moment to think about his sister quoting more plays and how everyone is full of shit when Samon gets the call the investigation is in. And the verdict....no one in the clan killed Aika. Everything gets all X___X with Mahiro screaming and yelling. Hakaze says that she is right...and then magical decides the only explanation is that the Tree of Exodus, the tree Samon is trying to revive, has chosen a princess and SHE is the one responsible for all of this. Everyone makes dramatic faces and...THE END!
I....i....What? Am I about to get everything I asked for? Aika killing herself, everyone being fooled by the killer trees, and Mahiro and Yoshino hooking up? Okay that probably won't happen but everything else? Is this real life? And is this how things are going to go down? I mean...it is weird to get what you want but because of the way it is happening I feel weird. Like....okay I didn't want it like this.
Oh and according to at least two sources this series is 22 episodes long. Is this a typo?! Because it should be 12! Maybe 13. Hakaze comes back, Mahiro yells, and episode 12 ends with Aika sitting in a tree smiling. Then episode 13 will have Aika flashbacks but from her point of view and how all of her decisions brought them to this moment. Surprise it really isn't The Tempest or Hamlet. It is really Bible times and everyone is killed by the wrath of God for sucking. See 13 episodes. Was this the twist guys?! Because I didn't see that coming at all.
Okay so what happened in this episode. Samon didn't make nearly as many funny faces which made me a sad panda. And since pandas are so expensive they shouldn't be sad. And Yoshino only touched Hakaze's bones once this episode and it was in a clinical way. Where is the fun folks? Where is the fun?
Even I can connect the dots every once and a while folks. So while Hakaze was going on and on about how she can talk through time and what not I was like....err...the pink elephant in the room. There has to be a reason that Samon is dragging around this barrel of bones. What more of a connection do you need than the actual body parts? So for me that was a bit like Blues Clues. The very thing Samon was using as leverage was the one thing that was going to be his down fall is everyone used their handy dandy notebook.
Now even though everything adds up....I am like hello this is still not logical. It is not logical to use magic to transport organs and skin and blood across two years and many miles. That is called magic yes. But this magic is supposed to be magical. I am like this is stretching the realm of logic way too thin for me. Moving one thing to another...maybe. But moving part of a person into another “body”....special.
Samon has decided to wake up and smell the coffee though which is refreshing in many ways. He has decided that he is tired of planning everything out only for some crazy person to crap all over his preparations. He will be Gone With the Wind Fabulous. That is my new phrase in life folks so get used to seeing it as people in my real life better get used to hearing it because it is HILARIOUS! If you can't beat crazy you must join it.
Clearly that means blaming everyone for Aika's death. If the Earth is in danger over the world boyfriend/Aika well that means the world can be saved through it. Like totally so what if someone in our clan killed your sister. It is all the Tree's fault. THE TREE! Or Hakaze. AND THE TREE! But not the tree that I love, the bad tree that makes fruit turn people into stone and makes magical things happen to/for Hakaze. Yes someone in our clan might have pulled the trigger/done the stabbing but they did it for Hakaze. Join in the madness.
Yoshino was the only one who seemed to think this was full of bullshit. Hakaze blames herself and Samon brought up this point. Mahiro seemed slightly pissed too. If my husband lost his mind and killed 100 people so we could be rich and he could take me to Disney every single day that is not my fault, even if he claimed it was for me. So if I am born into a family that worships a sleeping tree and said sleeping tree wants to rescue me from an island by killing someone it is not my fault. Proof! Where is the proof!
Yoshino stalling for Hakaze finding the piece of civilization...obvious. At this point they are playing a crazy game of chess only the pieces are dead bodies and flying fruit. Samon had to reveal part of his plan to get the boys to believe him but that also opened the doors to learn Samon's plan if things failed. Thus Hakaze looking for a piece of technology on the island. Now...it isn't very logical that Hakaze hasn't looked on the island for the past 2 months or however long but maybe she was too busy having amazing conversations with Mahiro. Such a conversationalist.
Samon stalling for time to try to find the killer...also very smart. Of course I assumed that Hakaze was right and the killer was in the clan. So maybe the amazing twist was going to be Samon was going to learn who the killer was and totally shatter him into pieces. Hell maybe he forgot what he did and Samon was the killer. But he sounded confident in what he was saying and looking for so his stalling made sense too.
I don't know how I felt about both/the same explanation on why this clan can't murder people. I mean...it makes sense that Hakaze didn't give out all the details when she found something funny with the murder. Like oh....I still need to use this boy and he is about 4 nuggets short of a happy meal. Explaining that someone in her clan would basically mean death or the inability to use magic again would probably make her findings a bit...suspicious. No no best to keep the knowledge from the boy. I just don't know how I feel about this knowledge being kept from me. Like tell Mahiro the killer is from the clan and then go....but wait that would mean this, this, and this. TELL ME! Keep Mahiro in the dark but this is something that would have made us think the entire time. BOMBSHELL!
In the end Samon says the killer isn't from the clan and the explanation that Hakaze gives is also correct. Sorta like how it is ending up that neither side is the bad guy and have nearly the same degree of being right. Of course leaving Hakaze to die on an island is a bit shady but I guess it shows how serious Samon was in his cause. If he was willing to allow so many other people to die he had to make a sacrifice too. Of course this explanation on why killing people isn't logical is a bit special. If someone hurts your family member it would be logical to want revenge right? They probably should have kept in with the clan has rules in place to keep people from using their magic to kill, a checks and balance system. Although guns and knives aren't magical are they....
So...the rest of the episode was pretty good. I just had a problem with the MOG I know who did it aspect. What if the Tree of Exodus got a princess too? Um sure. And what if the polar bear from Lost came and killed Aika? Well I guess both trees having Princesses makes sense. As much sense as a giant fruit tree having a princess can make sense. But I wish it would have been brought up before. Like well it has to be someone in the clan and then Hakaze thinking well it could be one other thing....nah. Something like that. Yoshino is the one coming up with the AHA moments of this show. Now Hakaze is able to think up a million things at once at the drop of a hat? Special.
While Hakaze is running around on the island looking for the piece of civilization Samon left there (because she never explored before?) Mahiro is thinking to himself...these are some crazy assholes. Yoshino is full of shit, Hakaze is full of shit, and Samon is full of shit. So I am not sure if his bad boy thing is an act at this point or that is how he really feels and he is using that to hide the fact that he doesn't trust anyone. I guess in a way it makes me feel good that Mahiro isn't an idiot, that he recognizes he is being used and what not. Maybe that is why he doesn't feel bad about throwing Hakaze away. Now maybe if he could care a little bit more about the fate of the world he could seem a little more likeable.
All of this and I still think that Aika is behind this. But instead of being Hakaze's sister she is the Exodus princess. I guess in a way that would make more sense if all of Hakaze's good fortune is coming from the Exodus tree. If the Genesis tree wants to come back I am sure it would help Hakaze. But everything that has been going on makes more sense that it is the Exodus' Tree doing. I wonder if that will make Hakaze rethink her position on everything. Like....oh maybe me coming back WILL destroy the world and now Yoshino has to talk her off that cliff.
Outside of all this craziness Junichirou is being amazing and we don't know why. He doesn't have any powers as he was adopted into the clan but was able to kick Natsumura's ass in five seconds. All while flirting with Evangeline? Yes the fate of the world will be decided because of Aika and Evangeline's boobies. No I am sure Junichirou wasn't being serious. He just wants everyone to be like him and be neutral. I guess if the world is going to end you might as well just sit back and wait. Don't get blood on your hands if you don't have to right?
So in conclusion Yoshino probably knows that Mahiro knows he is full of crap but will keep on talking anyway, Hakaze is looking all over the island because clearly she lived on the beach the entire time, Samon's face is going to fall off, and Mahiro still doesn't care about anything but revenge on his sister and will probably shoot up the joint at this point. Add in the fact that Aika is probably the Exodus princess and Yoshino thinks this time traveling body saving thing can help Aika and everyone is having a weird day. THE END!

Yea, my facial expression, and it is still good! I wonder if that make sense.
Also, it is not "Exodus princess" but "Exodus Mage", I don't know how they translated this but it should be "Mage". In other words, it is possible that this person may not be a female.
Hi @Christina
22 episodes long? Are the sources sure? Because that's too much for everyone! XO I mean, we already into the final battle against Samon. It feels like we've reached the peak of the show and are now going into the conclusion. What are the next 11 episodes will be about if Samon, Trees of Epicness, and Miss Fanservice (Hakaze) issues are resolved in episode 12 or 13? Pointless fanservice episodes? Aliens? 24 crossover? Lost crossover? So does that means there will be a season 2 of this?
I'm surprised Miss Fanservice hasn't explored the entire island yet. Since she's been on that isle for around 193 days, I think Hakaze might look around out of a blend of curiosity and boredom. It would have been much easier and awesome had Doctor Who came in and rescued her without resorting to magical body-time-travel nonsense. I understand there's that legal dilemma with both fictions, but come on--that's an awesome crossover!
So nobody in Samon's clan murdered Aika, is that what the writers are conveying to the audience? Then how did Aika died? Who's the real murderer? Was it a suicide? Self-sacrifice for tree of Epicness? All part of an evil plan to become a god? What is it, writers? Why doesn't Samon just reveal the complete truth regarding Aika, Hakaze, and the freaking trees?! All this drama, illogical exposition, and confusion could have been avoided had Samon just told the characters and the audience the honest truth. All he has to say is, "Hey, I did all of this to save the world. Here are the reasons why and how I did it. Aika wanted to do this. Hakaze is this. End of story." But no, the writers wanted to be complex for the sake of being complex by having Mr.Salmon (the fish) being crazy, cunning, and making bizarre faces. Sometimes complexity for the sake of complexity doesn't make a good narrative; the audience would just be confused and criticized your show for being pretentious.
I understand that Samon is being mysterious and cunning as bargaining chips so that the boys don't ruin his plans, but his plans have fallen apart already. So just stop the foils of your operation with the devastating truth about everything regarding everyone. After all, the truth is strong, devastating and damning.
The plot twists should have been spread evenly among the 22 episodes. You can't just deliver plot twists after plot twists. That's just too much! The audience has to understand your narrative, Zetsuen writers.
That's all on Zetsuen, folks
Second anonymous here again
Forgot to add:
More references to Shakespeare/Hamlet plays? I don't know why Japanese culture is obsessed with Western writers like Shakespeare. Do students even read Hamlet/Shakespeare in Japan? College, maybe as an electoral class. But in K-12 schools? I guess not.
Because when I was in high school, we didn't read any plays by Japanese writers. It was all Odyssey, Shakespeare (Romeo and Juliet), Hamlet, and few a things I can't remember.
I don't know.
The Anonymus who said that the story is reaching its conclusion and shouldn't have more episodes:
The manga has 41 chapters and is still ongoing, episode 11 adapted chapters 13 and 14 of the manga so there's lots of material to continue the anime. And in the next episode a new character important to the story is going to appear.
The truth behind Aika's death was revealed in chapters 36-38.
The anime will surely have an original ending because as I said the manga still hasn't finished and I don't think it will end soon (although it does look that we're starting the final arc since most of the mysteries have been solved).
Anonymous 1- That is how my face is most of the time with this show and I still think it is good. Sometimes X___X can be a good thing. And I think in my mind Aika is already the Exodus Mage thus I am calling in a Princess. But since there is no proof of that I probably should be more accurate with what I type.
Anonymous 2- Well since the most amazing show ever The River has been cancelled I guess this show will take over! XD Because really the trees are both waking up and destroying things. Are they just going to STOP so we can have 11 more episodes? X___X
I would think that Hakaze would have looked all over that island. No reason to stay on the beach and talk to Mahiro when she can look around for something, anything to help her. Or just because she was bored.
I think that Aika will be the Exodus Mage and killed herself to save her "boys". Thus the smile on her face when she died as she did so to save them. I can see why Samon was being all secretive before but now that he lost he should have just said okay here is ALL THE TRUTH! But of course I think someone should have ninjed out of a tree and tried to take out Mahiro while Samon made a break for the super gun.
But I really can't complain because I like Samon and his crazy faces. XD
I think most American students roll their eyes and say NO MORE Shakespeare before graduation. I am not sure how it is in European schools but I am assuming they have much more exposure. Japanese schools? Probably not so much. I imagine they are either reading about tiny birds of color or solving complicated math problems. Not reading about white people having white people dramatic problems.
Anonymous 3- XO The manga is still ongoing?! I have really tried to avoid spoilers for this show so I don't know much about it. But I thought I saw someone say that this show is going at the right pace in terms of chapters. I thought that meant well the manga is over and the anime will end right on time.
Given how insane things are going will an original ending be appropriate? Will it make sense? Or will it really turn out like LOST? Like oh that polar bear? Psht just write any old thing.
But having to wait so long to find out what happened to Aika...BOO! I will just pretend my theories are right to make it all better. XD
Man they need to hurry up if they are going to end in 22 episodes then. No more circular talking and more mystery revealing!
