XO I feel as if I have so much to do today and so little time to do it in. Where does the time go? Sometimes I feel as if I should sit down and micromanage my day. Like okay you can play your online games for 30 minutes here and here but then you have to clean the house from this time to this time and you can eat from here to here. X___X But that would make me a crazy person. PSHT me a crazy person?
That is something I can get behind!
While I come to the realization I might be a crazy person...an anime blog post woohoo! The goal is to get totally caught up on posts and then go back to catch up on comments. A plan? A plan! So up now is Little Busters! episode 9. Spoilers for cooking!
The Little Busters are actually a community service helper club weee!
Episode Summary: The Little Busters are actually practicing baseball and things are going well. It is an actual practice too despite the fact that Masato is getting hit in the face with balls. Riki muses that they feel like a real team now but thinks about how the fun times won't last long as Kyousuke will be graduating and leaving them all. After practice the girls stop changing clothes to munch on some treats that Komari made. The girls ask Rin to join them so she runs out of the room like a crazy person. Everyone muses that Rin will never get over her shyness. Riki hunts Rin down as she is playing with cats. If playing means pulling out their whiskers. Riki gets on Rin's case for not hanging out with the girls. Because things will change once they all graduate and they won't be there for Rin. Before Rin can make excuses one of her cats appear with another note. It is similar to the first one, talking about the mystery of the world. This time the task is to save the kitchen. Rin gets super excited and rushes Riki to the cafeteria as she thinks a certain food item is causing the downfall for the place. The lone cafeteria lady says there are no problems in the cafe and that the food item was requested by a student. That student happens to be Sasami who cackles about the wonderful meal and how Rin needs to accept its awesomeness. Rin keeps saying that it is gross and Sasami eventually makes her group attack Rin. She is defeated and lays on the ground all sad. Outside Rin seems bummed about not being able to complete the task and thus not learning about the mystery. Riki knows from experience that Rin gets obsessed with things and wants to see them through til the end. Riki starts to wonder if there are any real mysteries in the world and decide that his narcolepsy might qualify.
Of course I will help you cute little girl.
Riki and a sleeping Masato are chillin in their room when Rin busts in with news. All the ladies are gone from the cafeteria and there is no one left to serve food. Masato and Rin go to the cafeteria to see for themselves how all the food was left sitting there. The lone cafeteria lady that was there earlier left as she was feeling sick while the others had emergencies and or were sick too. Rin is like we must cook dinner and safe the cafeteria. Riki and Masato are like this is impossible for 3 people to do. So Rin runs out and gathers all the Little Buster girls and boys to get their help. Soon everyone realizes the menu is way too big for them to accomplish. Rin...I mean Riki suggests only making three meals and different members of the group volunteer to make different parts of the meal. Rin is actually the least helpful but it turns into a feel good moment with everyone cooking and doing their part. Riki wonders how this all worked out so wonderfully, that the note knew that this would happen. Soon all the meals are all done and students start arriving. Rin takes control of the kitchen and makes sure everyone gets jelly, the most important part of the meal. Riki looks at everyone being happy and Rin actually interacting with people. Rin is the one who gathered everyone up which means the note was perfect for their current situation. Riki realized that...and then he fell asleep on the ground. Narcolepsy attack indeed. When he wakes up he is in his room and is a bit sad that he woke up alone. He thinks back to his first attack and realized that everything worked out as he eventually joined the Little Busters. Kyousuke shows up to make sure Riki is okay. Seeing that Riki is alive Kyousuke brings him to the cafeteria to eat dinner with everyone else. They waited to eat with Riki which is an awe moment. Rin thanks everyone for helping out which is another AW moment. Such happy moments, they will surely last forever yes? THE END!
Do these count as sparkles?
So much fluff. I don't know if I can handle so much. Kira didn't as she fell asleep on my computer while I watched this episode. Thanks Kira, mommy can totally type with you on the keys. Your contribution to my blog is well appreciated.
See? Real practice.
XO They actually practiced baseball today. This show hears my thoughts. Or maybe it pushes the limits of fluff and realizes that they need to hurry up with the plot or they will run out of time. And none of this you do your random thing and some people play with weights in the background. Like everyone into position and pretend to play a real game. XO Of course I went on and on about Noumi being amazing and she missed the ball. Maybe she did awesome earlier in the day. Yuiko and Rin did good though so yay?
I get like that too. Like oh no 2 more hours until we have to leave the convention/theme park/ect.
Riki had to remind us that things are going to be doom and gloom soon. Because once you graduate the fun times are over. You are immediately separated from all your friends from high school. I am being mean of course. I married my high school sweetheart and my best friend from the beginning of time lives like 10 minutes away. XD But we never left town. A bunch of our friends did though so maybe that is what Riki is talking about. I shouldn't make fun of him. He was a lonely kid too and now that he is happy he is worried about losing that happy.
Too much interaction...must flee...
I sorta like that Rin is still shy/uncomfortable around new people/girls. I wouldn't want her to get better overnight. That would make no sense. Rin has been this way as long as Riki has known her. After a few weeks of knowing some of these people is probably not enough time to cure things. It can make someone be happy/accept their dead brother but not enough time to heal shyness. There are limits folks.
Don't be so rough!
Riki was a little bit bossy with Rin. Maybe it should have been Kyousuke's job to help Rin. Even if she needed help. She has been slowly opening up to the girls. There was a great moment with Komari and Rin on the roof. She has been trying. But apparently Riki thinks she needs to try harder and faster. Um she is a cat lady at heart. Let Rin go at her own pace.
BAM! We needed a flashback because it has been so long.
But SOMEONE has a different plan. See the show was listening to me again. I was like where is the mystery stuff and it was like BAM have some mystery. That cat is pretty amazing can I say? I can't put anything on my cat without her trying to claw or eat it off. And if she can't get it off she just melts on the ground like the object is sucking out all of her life and she is unable to move. But yes the cat and the mystery. Apparently this mystery requires cleaning/helping the school out. HIRE SOME BETTER STAFF!
Food is serious business folks.
The interaction between Sasami and Rin was sorta special. Where was the Disciplinary Committee when this was going on? 4 girls verses 1? And Riki just watched the whole thing? That must mean that Masato is really, really weak....but yeah that whole soggy food business....I am trying to think of anything that I like when it is super soggy. It is escaping me. So both girls are wrong. But that won't cause the whole cafeteria to fail. Carry on with your special fight ladies.
XO Can you imagine getting attack while driving? How horrible!
Riki talked a bit more about his narcolepsy. I almost forgot about that! Not that I want him to pass out all the time. It must be a horrible condition, always being on edge wondering if the next episode is going to happen. Maybe there should be a bit more worrying on his part so I don't forget about it next time? Of course I don't know anything about narcolepsy and maybe you have less attacks when you get older. I don't know.
Guess you are all going to starve now.
Due to a series of special events every single cafeteria worker was out. And since this school is run by students and not actual adults...no one was there to make dinner. Like what the hell? Someone was seen helping the cafeteria lady to the hospital so that person must know that there is no one to help. And even if that lady was okay she would have been the only one. X____X Where are the adults?
Cereal is my specialty.
Bur Rin took this as a sign that she could complete the task given to her and get one step closer to learning the mysteries of the world. To do so Rin had to gather up all the Little Busters and turn this into a musical. Again I am impressed with everyone's abilities to cook. I would have been like Rin in case anyone was asking. I didn't think they could have pulled it off but they did. Yay pudding.
HMMMM are things adding up?
Riki started to think what I was thinking. So far these two tasks have been pretty helpful to the group as well as the school. But they are cloaked as missions instead of being beneficial. The shed needed to be cleaned so that wasn't too weird. But the cafeteria? How did the note writer KNOW that this was going to happen? Is there a crazy pink hair girl holding a knife and a cellphone nearby? I am sensing some sort of time travel.
And then he passed out.
Before Riki could figure this out he had a narcolepsy attack. I hate to say perfect timing but it did seem rather odd right? Like oh Riki is understanding the situation and magically he is put to sleep before all the answers are figured out. HMMMMM things are happening in a very specific way. This leads me to think that the writer of the notes is Kyousuke. He wanted Riki to find all the girls, wants Rin to get along better with the girls, and seems to know about everything else. So....is Kyousuke time traveling or has he been through this all before?
Who cares about mysteries! I have friends!
For the time being none of that matters. Or Riki has forgotten as he woke up and was surrounded by friends. Really, really weird friends. It seems as if this mystery will be revealed slowly. That is probably best for Riki as he wants to make all the fun times last as long as possible. Yay friends and pudding!

Hi @Christina
I think animators have a tight schedule and would have to advance the plot to cover everyone i.e. explaining backgrounds, motivations, flaws, etc. So not much filler episodes in this show compared to Naruto or Bleach. That's why the team was practicing baseball proficiently--plot advancement! Also, J.C. Staff (Little Busters' animation company) received some harsh criticisms from fans for Little Busters! not being animated by KyoAni. I guess they didn't want to alienate the fanbase and lose ratings (money). After all, I posted on a previous show about animators and voice actors being poorly paid. Again, it's true (I provided some articles from the internet), and J.C. Staff can't afford to fail this show; the writers are treating it with care in regards to the plot and characters.
That's all I have to say on this episode.
First anonymous here again.
Forgot to add:
Time travel? I doubt it. So far, there are no supernatural creatures/people in this show. It's far more grounded in reality than fantasy. I'm guessing some mysterious mentor is writing the note and want Little Bustahs (or Rin) to reach their full potential. I could be wrong though and there will be dragons and knights riding them in future episodes--talk about a genre shift! I, mean, one day we're talking about a drama-baseball-team show. And the next day they introduce dragon riders whose destiny is to fight the ultimate evil which is basically a tree in the form of a mysterious teenage girl a.k.a. Dark Aika (Zetsuen reference! :D). LMAO!
And you know what? I watch it! XD
All right, enough of my nonsense.
Nothing to say about Rin other than character development and obviously she likes cats. About the cafeteria staff, no idea why there weren't anyone left to cover the shift.
That's all, folks.
You forgot that this is KEY's visual novel. The very company who made Kanon and Clannad. There girls who roam the mortal world while they are dead already, oh I mean unconscious. There was invisible monster roaming the school. There was a fox girl. There was alternate world which can perform 'reset' miracle on the real world. It won't be a shock if this show has them too.
Hello @Eternia

You mean, there's a chance we can see dragon riders in Little Busters? AWESOME!!! :D
Can't wait to see the epic battle against Dark Aika! LOL!
No way. This is not Angel Beats!
The most you can get from Key are just some occults. Hint : See how Nishizono Mio is always standing in in shaded area? You may think that she got angry, but she has deeper reason for not getting her parasol herself. The anime also hinted it during classroom scene, she stayed in the corner, shadowed place, the whole time. Hmm. What could this mean? Hohoho.
I just want to say if Mio turns out to be a vampire I will be shocked they went that route. But I am sure she will be the best baseball playing vampire ever......XD
Anonymous- While there are no fillers it feels...odd at times. Like Riki is picking up girls like one would collect baseball cards. I want some more emotion behind it. But at the same time it is too soon to have that emotion right? Craziness, I want it both ways.
Someone seems to know things are going to happen before they happen. Maybe there have been too many time traveling shows lately but I am thinking another magical reset.
Eternia- WAI fox girl. So cute. But yes KEY is known for making miracles happen. But besides Komari no one else seems to have any other sadness besides being lonely.
XO What is Mio is the wicked witch of the east and melts when she is exposed to sun? That would be awesome!
