Sword Art Online episode 21

Hello there my lovely readers. Look! Three days of anime blog posts! Merry Christmas! Don't say I never gave you anything. PSHT. XD

I think I miss playing games. XO

It is almost taco time but let me get this one posted before dinner and then another one will be up after dinner. Up now is Sword Art Online episode 21. Spoilers for tentacles. No seriously tentacles folks.

Episode Summary: Leafa and Kirito have made it to Arun, the biggest city in the game. It is sparkly and wonderful and no one in their party have been there before. Just as our crew is about to explore the city an announcement is made that the game is going down for a maintenance check. Given that it is 4 am in the morning maybe it is a good thing. Yui locates a cheap inn as Kirito just gave away all his money and Leafa and Kirito part ways. As they do so Asuna is seen sneaky out of her cage. She slowly makes her way down a path and into a long corridor. It seems to go on forever and Asuna is forced to look super sneaky doing so. She finally finds a map and plans to use it to the find an exit but instead sees something labeled experiment. She makes her way there as Kirito and Suguha wake up in the real world. Suguha is beyond sleepy but will only say she was on the internet. Kirito warns her that things can be dangerous as he has learned from experience. Kirito then throws cold water on her because that is what “big brothers” do. She gets mad and demands he buys her treats later. Kirito explains that he has something to do this afternoon (game) and right now he is going to the hospital to visit Asuna. Suguha asks to come and Kirito agrees. Back in the game Asuna has made it to the experiment room and becomes horrified at what she sees. There are tiny little pods all over the place holding the trapped 299 players and they are currently being subjected to experiments. Like being made to experience crazy emotions and what not. Asuna is upset but is determined to leave and find help. She hides as she hears someone entering the room. Two slug like players arrive and start performing more experiments on players. Asuna tries to make it to the game console to log out but she is stopped by the slugs. They are underlings of Sugou and one logs out to tell him that Asuna escaped while the other tries to perform tentacle rape. Asuna bites him before anything awful can happen. The other slug logs back in and tells them that Sugou is pissed and wants to lock Asuna back up. Asuna is taken back to her cage but vows not to give up and is shown holding the console key.

Err.....nice to meet you.

Meanwhile Suguha and Kirito are making their way to the hospital and Suguha brings up the topic of schools. Kirito talks about how a special one has been set up of SAO players given that they have missed two years of school. But Kirito thinks that they might be studied there given the game might have messed them up. But if Kirito wanted to attend regular high school it would be cram school for a year. Suguha is full of hope and is like you can do it Kirito! They make it to Asuna's hospital room and Suguha gets all sad once she realizes that Kirito really loves Asuna. They spend time together at the hospital but soon it is game time. Leafa logs into the game and starts crying at the sight of Kirito. She apologizes for being a hot mess but talks about how she has a broken heart. Kirito tells her it is okay to have real life problems and cry. Leafa decides she is in love with her “brother” but will have to bury that deep in her heart and move on from Kirito. Leafa wipes off her tears and takes Kirito around to explore the huge city. All different races are here having fun and looking in love. Leafa gets sad for a moment but then talks to Kirito how people haven't been able to make it to the top and that the latest “cheat” attempt has been patched. Still the two march on near the trunk of the tree. Suddenly Yui announces that she can feel Asuna and Kirito freaks out, flying up towards the tree at the speed of fast despite Leafa's protests. THE END!

No Kirito I spent too much time away. XD

It feels like forever since I watched this show. What with the online gaming element of the entire show and the husband starting to play Maple Story again I am feel all WOE I miss the past. So many good (and probably bad) memories of online games.

So many memories.

Like when it was log out time for maintenance checks. Ah memories. Memories of waiting for the minute the game came back up so you can get an awesome spot in the self shop area. But yes I remember those times when we were like NOOOO there is so much more to do don't make us go to sleep. I woke up feeling like Suguha while the husband was more like Kirito. Like don't you need sleep?!

Stop being creepy!

I would like the brother/sister not really relationship more between Kirito and Suguha if...you know..she wasn't IN LOVE with her “brother”. It is just hard to put past. They were raised as siblings and it turns out they are cousins. For some reason that meant it was okay to fall in love with him? Um no. Anyone who lives in your house and is semi related to you means you can't have the sexs with. Let it be done and you may commence with the water throwing and picking on.

Kirito has been through a lot even though he is only 16 years old. :(

I am glad they FINALLY talked about Kirito going to high school. Yes he has been out of the game for only two months and it might take a lot longer to adjust to the real world. But as sad as it is these people will have to become part of the real world again and the longer everyone waits the harder it will become for them. Especially in a society like Japan where things are based on seniority and that gets all messed up when age becomes all weird. Sad but at least something is being done for the kids, them going to a special school so maybe age won't be such a problem. Hope the adults got some help too. Either way Kirito isn't thinking about school right now. Maybe when Asuna is safe he will be like OH lets go to school to school together.

No keep all those feelings bottled up please.

While Suguha is a creeper on her “brother” at least she hasn't done anything yet. Maybe she wanted to check out the competition but I think she really wanted to support Kirito. When she saw what they have is real and Kirito won't be moved I think all hope vanished inside of her. Like well this was never going to happen but now I know it. Her emotions (as weird as they are) didn't simply melt away and she has a mine breakdown. Now it is special that she is confessing her broken heart to the person who broke her heart but still...Suguha took her moment, acknowledged that she should never react to these emotions, and will try to move on. All positive. Keep with that train of thought please.

Look at all of us not killing each other and stuff.

Kirito and Leafa exploring the city of Arun...I wish we had seen more. I think it focused more on the couples and in love aspect than the gaming aspect. But maybe that part is more important? Still I found it interesting that all the races were there and there was no fighting. Now apply that to getting to the top of the tree and it should be easy right?

She needs to work on the sneakiness.

The rest of the episode was devoted to Asuna and her trying to escape said tree. I would have thought that Sugou would have had better measures to keep Asuna all locked up. He seems obsessed enough with her. Still Asuna could have worked on being sneaky a little better. A little rusty from her Sword Art Online days yes?

Floating BRAAAAINS!

I thought that the 299 players were actually doing something in the game. But I realize now that was a special thought. XD I mean how can Sugou experiment on people if they are awake doing their own thing in the game. That and if something goes wrong people might notice that players are dropping like flies. It was a little dramatic though, reminded me of Resident Evil. Floating brains indeed.

And then that was enough of that.

I was prepared to laugh that Sugou made his assistants look like slugs...and then they did things. Like was that really necessary? Hasn't Asuna been through enough? I don't even know if this qualifies as fanservice. More like fan disservice. Gross indeed. Asuna should be falling apart at this point, can't a girl can't a break? Push the button faster next time.

Hurry to the bat cave!

The episode ends with Yui telling Kirito that Asuna is nearby. She must have some super seeking abilities as Asuna is at the VERY top of the tree now. Kirito of course takes off and will probably die when he crashes from such a high place but at least he tried. With Kirito motivated and Asuna with an access key maybe these two will be reunited faster than we thought? )
