Hyouka episode 15

HELLO THERE! This week I managed to smile enough and earned mesos to buy ice cream! Oh ice cream how I missed you last week!!!! XD See I have to budget my money very carefully or I won’t be able to afford trips and adventures later on. My life…so hard….So I buy the “fun” foods after everything else has been accounted for. But that makes my taste buds so unhappy. Smile smile smile. XD

Those are fighting words for Houtarou!

So with ice cream in my tummy it is time to get anime blogged tonight! I am on such a roll getting things done today. So accomplished. Up now is Hyouka episode 15. Spoilers for STILL being on the festival!

Totally! Why would Houtarou want to help out a friend? That is just crazy.

Episode Summary: Houtarou is trying to eat his lunch in peace but the rest of the Classic Cub comes in hot off their cooking contest win. Houtarou realizes his meal time is certainly interrupted when Eru brings in the latest note from the Festival Thief (when their ladle got stolen). She is now curious and despite Houtarou attempts to avoid the sparkly eyes…Houtarou gets sucked in. Satoshi says that if they solve this mystery it will help them with their anthology problem. Making them famous and what not will help sell issues. Houtarou says there are way too many suspects…so Eru and Satoshi start listing all the items and clubs that have been hit. Houtarou points out rather simply they are reading the culprit’s name wrong and it really says 10 letters. Also the group figures out the culprit is using the Japanese alphabet so it makes it easier to see what clubs were hit and which clubs COULD be hit. It so happens that the Classics Club could be the last club hit. Eru takes off to talk to Newspaper Club to give them the scoop and maybe earn a spot in the paper itself. It turns out they are already aware of the culprit as they were hit as well. Eru realizes her efforts might be for naught so she uses Irisu’s techniques…literally to say who might get hit next. She leaves and realizes she really didn’t make the president of the newspaper club promise anything. She thinks he will do the right thing though.

Satoshi has learned that one of the clubs that will be hit before the Classics Club will be the Magic Club. He waits outside for the next magic show when his Go Club…friend shows up trying to solve the mystery too. Many characters (President of the Student Council, Irisu, ect.) walk into the magic show but the item has already been stolen, a candle! Mayaka decides to hang out with Houtarou for a bit as he thinks about the mystery and how the solution was too easy to solve and something else must be going on. Mayaka smirks because Houtarou is blind to how he feels about Eru and goes to the Manga Club. Which was probably a bad idea because a lot of girls are talking smack about her. But in a surprising turn of events the upper classman that was giving her lip tells the other girls to be quiet and drop the issue. Confused Mayaka goes outside to get some air. She takes some time to have a pity party and the Club president comes outside to confuse her more. The pain in the butt upperclassman is her friend. The person who helped make the manga Mayaka was talking about is also both their friends. And there is a reason why pain in the butt is being a pain in the butt. The president is very hush hush about it but supports Mayaka and pain in the butt. Satoshi reports to Houtarou whom is like…why did you think you were going to catch him in the act? Eru returns with good news that the Classics Club WAS mentioned in the newspaper. That night everyone spends their time resting or what not. Satoshi thinks his approach will solve the mystery and challenges Houtarou to a duel so to speak. THE END!

Like I said…HIDE THE CACTUS! Also I am pretty sure this show was never supposed to leave Japanese soil given…well everything. Festivals indeed.

A small note that was almost forgotten by all but Houtarou. Pay me for that bag of flour hoe!!! XD kidding Mayaka isn’t a hoe. But it was interesting that Houtarou was interested in something. Like yes Mayaka I need to keep this game going so give me something for the flour. I really thought oh that’s the end of that….but Houtarou made sure it didn’t end. So now I am wondering how this is all going to end. Will he get a random object, something of value, or will he be stuck with the pen again. In which he could throw at his sister but still. Who knows!

A one two punch to Satoshi's stomach!

Also I am a bit sad that Satoshi’s advertising didn’t pay off that well. He worked up a pretty good crowd into the past mystery of the festival but it resulted in very few sales. Irisu and her movie showing offered to sell more than what Houtarou was able to sell alone all day. And this is all over a tiny bit of money. But in Hyouka tiny things seem to morph into INSANE issues that must be dealt with or eyeballs will explode.

Eru didn’t seem very concerned with her friend’s missing Tarot card a few weeks ago but now she is like bring on the shiny eyes! Of course that might not be fair to say as Eru only had one piece of information and Satoshi had many more pieces. Maybe she didn’t think it was a big enough deal but she definitely pulled back when talking to Houtarou at first. But now she and Satoshi are leading the train to mystery land!

Houtarou figures out EVERYTHING! :(

Of course Houtarou was like…oh yeah they are using the alphabet DUH in like two seconds. Because he is amazing without even trying. I don’t think any English speakers had a chance at solving even the easiest part of this mystery. I can’t read, speak, or begin to really understand Japanese. Yet there was a pattern in who was being targeted based on club names. BOOO! I will never be able to solve anything as all the “easy” mysteries were at the beginning. At least I…well watched the show. XD

Now Houtarou might be amazing at figuring things out he isn’t perfect. For instance he didn’t realize there was a crafts club which could affect who gets an item stolen next. Isn’t Satoshi IN the crafts club?! So things like that Houtarou falls flat because he isn’t aware of normal high school things. Although he was good at figuring out Irisu’s reason for “using” him. And despite the fact that he says he doesn’t care whether or not a mystery gets solved tiny details can eat away at him. Eru…oh lord. That girl is a hot mess. Like weee I am the girl in which everything is rainbows and buttercups and I don’t even know what common sense means!!! WEEEE! Like stompin over to the Newspaper club and listing off Irisu’s tips to the President’s FACE….oh lord Eru. I would be scared too if I was that dude. Although he is probably still worried about that dramatic smoking incident.

In the end Eru seems to think she really contributed to the Juumoji mystery when…I don’t think she did. XD I think the Newspaper Club would have to mention the Classics Club being a possible target if they wanted to go with the alphabet system. There was no way around it. So I didn’t see that as a shout out to the Classics Club as much as they were reporting the facts. Now maybe if they said Breaking News, our sources at the Classics Club, the ones who helped solve the 45 year old mystery of this school!!...then I might believe Eru did her job. But that didn’t happen and yet Eru doesn’t care. She is probably too tired from eating treats and having fun the previous days anyway. I mean….good job Eru!

Is MacGyver the thief?

Mayaka contributed very little to the mystery which is okay. She is involved with a club that is actually trying to make money and do something related to their club title. Was does the Classics Club even DO?! But despite the fact that Mayaka had a lot of drama going on she did try to contribute where she could. Oh and she laughed at Houtarou. Because he is in love with Eru and doesn’t understand the power she has over him.

And you are all jerks. The end.

But Mayaka had to leave the fun having people to go spend time with the not so fun having people. Like seriously why is everyone on her case?! If Mayaka had a sucky idea for the festival and everyone went along with it they are just at fault as she is. If there is fault. Not like Mayaka can see into the future! But the Vocaloids were just turning into a group of Heathers and gossiping for no reason.

Just...not feeling this plot point at all. Also did someone steal her manga?

I think…there was a lot of unnecessary information/drama with the Mayaka/upper classmen situation. I was ready to call it a day when the girl had stopped her assault on Mayaka. Like oh maybe she read the manga later and realized Mayaka was right or maybe they were both right and was ready to squish the issue. But now there seems to be more drama. The Manga Club president has to get involved and now maybe the mean girl’s friend might be one of the people who worked on the manga Mayaka mentioned and there might be another reason why mean girl was acting mean. Just….why couldn’t she have just read the manga and that was that? Maybe it will make more sense later but a lot of it seems unnecessary.

Now we end with Satoshi. At first I thought he was making some weird faces during the mystery dilemma. Like he thought something was very, very off. Frankly I thought he was assuming one of the Classic Club members were stealing items. But now I am just thinking that he doubts that Houtarou can solve this mystery with his laid back/genius approach. No no, it is going to take someone like Satoshi to solve a mystery when literally a thousand people could be suspects. Still did Satoshi give you that feeling as well? Like he knew something.

Err...why DID you think that? Silly boy.

But being the silly person he is he skipped to the Magic Club to “watch” something get stolen. Yes because it was going to get stolen DURING the show. Crazy. I love how Houtarou was like how was I supposed to know you are stupid? XD I am not sure why this Go Club member is being made to be Satoshi’s adversary. Seems like he came out of nowhere. Wish he had more build up as a character instead of being forced on us. Heck the other characters that ALL came to the magic show (anime magic was involved as well XD) had more of a back story than this guy. Not liking him.

The odds are against you young Satoshi. :( Good luck.

Part of me wants Satoshi to shine, to be the one to figure out this mystery. But I believe the culprit is actually targeting Houtarou. Like taunting him to figure out this mystery. With that idea in my head I don’t see how Satoshi has a chance of solving it. Only if Houtarou “lets” Satoshi solve it and that is if Satoshi doesn’t realize it. Which he probably would. Maybe I will be super surprised in the end and Satoshi will solve it all…with help from Houtarou. XD

Is that all that happened in this episode? I do think that Satoshi was acting weird at some points but he is a weird kinda guy. The Newspaper Club works super fast do they not? Seriously. And Mayaka is having the worst time ever. Yeah that about sums it up. XD Until next time!
