BEHOLD! An anime post for you. XD It has been a pretty busy day here at Case de Tenchi albeit not really anime episode related.....But since I did all of the out of the house stuff today I should be able to do more posts tomorrow yes? Yes indeed. Although how was it busy in my house if I was out at the bank and mall?
EFF YOU RECAPS!
Anyway behold! Behold the most hated of all anime episodes: Recaps!!! NOOOOO! Why you need a recap for a 22 episode show? Losers. Zetsuen no Tempest episode 13. Spoilers for nothing.
Boyfriend where?!?!
Episode Summary: Recap episode. THE END!
Are you guys poor and that is the only book you own? GO TO THE LIBRARY!
Episode Summary for real: Mahiro wakes up to butterflies munchin on his blood. He gets confused on what the heck just happened and poof he wakes up back at his house and finds Aika reading a book. He decides that this is also a dream because Aika is dead. Aika is reading The Tempest and quoting lines from it. Mahiro claims to have read the book and it is all the same tragedy crap. Aika smiles and Mahiro wakes up back in the snow confused. He is still hurt from his injuries but looks around for Yoshino. Yoshino appears but in the form a kid, when he and Mahiro first became friends. Yoshino becomes a child too and remembers that he was on a journey. A journey to save the world. Mahiro then gives a recap of what has happened through all the previous episodes, as if the little kid version of Yoshino and Mahiro were along for the journey too. Not recapped were the amazing faces of Samon. Mahiro talks about he really wanted to find Aika's killer and eff the world. Eventually Mahiro ends up back in the dream where Aika tells him that the Tempest is not a tragedy and is that really what he wants? Then Mahiro ends up back in the hospital after his motorcycle accident where a young Yoshino tells him what has happened since they were both stabbed. The Tree of Genesis came back and killed about 2 billion people, including a lot of militarizes. The Exodus Tree has been put back to sleep and many cities have been destroyed. However the killings have stopped from the tree. Except when there is a criminal afoot. Then the tree pays them a visit and POOF they go. All is well yes? Mahiro wakes up for real this time and Samon greets him. Samon explains he has kept him asleep for a month with magic and opens the window, revealing that the world is probably how baby Yoshino said it was. Mahiro questions where Yoshino is and Samon says he is doing just fine. Samon then says he has kept Mahiro alive to kill Yoshino. Elsewhere two construction workers are taking a break and one talks about how his girlfriend left him. The other one starts talking about the mage of Exodus and how that person is rumored to save the world. The other construction worker is like oh hi here is a fireball think my girlfriend will come back if she knew it was me? THE END!
Stop with the typing and talking!
How....how on Earth did I type so much in that summary? Have I completely lost my mind? Also HATES YOU RECAPS! Stupid recap episode. You wait a while to see a new episode and this is what you get? Hates it!
Psht who are those nerds?
That being said at least it was a recap done in an interesting way. Not the same exact stuff all over again in the same exact order. It had some dream within a dream within Inception stuff going on which works for this type of show. Like WEEE Mahiro got the memories stabbed out of him and now he is slowly trying to put everything back together in his mind. Of course in the end none of that matters and he just wants revenge but still.
Why are you coming back to life?
Even within a recap episode there is still new scenes with Aika. Someone who has been dead for quite a while. Mahiro's poor mind was trippin on acid, magic, and near death experiences. Aika is really a one trick pony though. Did hommie read any other books besides OLD classics from Europe? Like can't she reads some Japanese classics? Happy ending indeed. Poor Mahiro and his crazy mind.
Can we just burn both trees? Please?
I do wonder how Mahiro came across the correction information on what was going on in the outside world. Was Yoshino really talking to him? Was he lucid as Samon was using magic to keep him asleep? There was a lot of bouncing around and what not and at first I assumed that Yoshino was telling Mahiro the bad ending and that Samon would give Mahiro the real ending when he woke up. Guess not.
Mahiro has the worst dreams ever.
But yes that was the only new information in this episode. Recap of the first attack, the butterflies, and this long journey that was only like three days. Yoshino telling Mahiro what happened to the Genesis Tree and Exodus was the only real new part. I am surprised there is any world left. Only 2 billion people dies? Psht Skynet killed way more people. I do wonder why Genesis Tree hates crime so much. I am not sure how it isn't logical to kill people you hate or to steal things that aren't you. It all appears to be apart of human nature. But in any event everything is fine.
Samon is trying to seduce Mahiro into killing Yoshino I see.
Yeah folks everything seems to be fine. Life has gone on since the initial attack. People are working and driving to work. Like there aren't 439843 trees growing everyone and people are all dead like. X____X Maybe people have all gone insane and accepted that EH at least we are alive. The thing that Samon is most concerned about is killing Yoshino. Because Hakaze likes him now. I would call that dumb in light of everything but maybe Yoshino is keeping Hakaze from really saving the world. If Mahiro can halt the destruction of the world over the word boyfriend Samon can worry about Hakaze and her ladybits from getting a boyfriend.
Well...if the world ends no one will have a future....
The episode ends with me being all disappointed. In the second new scene a construction worker and his friend are talking and POOF he is the mage of Exodus? NOT AIKA?! Is this the world we live in?! It also doesn't escape me that the kid with powers is too busy concerned about HIS girl instead of the new random powers he has. Everyone has lost their minds. How does anyone know about the mage of Exodus anyway? Hakaze been getting drunk and talking at bars? What a weird episode. And now I am sad :( Aika isn't the mage?

Hello @Christina
A recap episode? Worst than a filler episode!
Not much to say about recap episodes except it's the animation company being wasteful for not advancing the plot, character development, reveals, etc.
I did enjoy the new scenes with Aika (the most interesting character of Zetsuen) though. :) About Aika reading Shakespeare (You wondered why Aika & the others are making references to European writers and not Japanese writers), could it be she just liked his writings? I guess it shows that Japanese culture is obsessed with Western writers like Shakespeare; Zetsuen does make many references to Hamlet. The same thing occurred with another show, Psycho Pass, when the villain Rikako Oryo made references to Titus Andronicus.
I'm sure Aika read other works including classic Japanese literature, and perhaps yaoi mangas?--maybe I'm getting a little ahead of myself here.
I can't believe the people of the world just continued with their lives when a magical tree of epicness annihilated billions of people! Unbelievable! I expected a worldwide emotional crisis like despair, anger, and the show changing into a grim post-apocalypse setting with monsters. Not two construction workers talking about their day like nothing! Again, unbelievable that the Zetsuen writers would ignore the human aspect of this crisis!
I guess the Exodus mage or Miss Fanservice (Hakaze) will takes clues from Doctor Who and use time travel to right the wrongs and save everyone. I hope so because I doubt EVERYONE in the world would continue on with their lives so easily after an evil tree murdered so many people--come on, Zetsuen writers!
And when is Aika coming back! >:(
That's all.
Anonymous- Recap episodes are such a waste. Maybe necessary when there are two or more seasons but for episode 13? NO! Do not want.
I get that this show is borrowing a lot from Shakespeare but it is getting to the point where it just feels forced. Almost like a joke. Like look there is Aika. She will probably mention that book again.
I HOPE that those construction workers and everyone else walking around like everything is fine are doing it under distress. Like look we got to pretend and smile because if we get angry the giant tree will come and eat us. Of course worried faces and forced smiles would make me believe that a bit more. Not.....just whatever man, giant trees meh. Very weird indeed.
