XO I think I accomplished a lot today! Or at least I did enough to say I feel accomplished. As women we must grade ourselves on our days off while men are chillin and enjoying the day. XD But the husband was good. With his help three whole Christmas trees got taken down. The big ones too. That alone should be rewarded with cupcakes. But I am a bit sad that my living room looks so empty without all the trees. :(
Anime wise it seems that there is only one episode out for me to blog so....here it is. No choices for me. See how I am all caught up...because everything took a week off. XD So what is the episode? Little Busters! episode 13. Spoilers for Mio and her parasol driving Riki crazy.
Look at me being so very, very shocked.
Episode Summary: Riki continues to look out the window, shocked that Mio is smiling and looking like a human being without her parasol. But then there is some thunder and POOF smiling Mio is gone. And Mio doesn't appear in class for several more days as it rains. Riki starts getting depressed that no one is talking about Mio so he asks Komari, Rin, and Noumi if they miss her. The three girls look really confused at first, like they don't remember the girl. Riki gets angry and they are like OH YEAH she is sick....but still seem unsure about the situation. Riki tries to talk to Masato about Mio but he has forgotten about her too and only remembers when Riki gets mad. The other classmates don't Mio at all and Riki enters a state of confusion and what the hell? But once the clouds leave Mio reappears in front of Riki. He explains that everyone was forgetting her and what not and she said that was to be expected. She gives Riki her book as she doesn't have much time left. Riki doesn't understand what that means so Mio invites him to the ends of the world. Which ends up being the beach. It looks nice but then Mio has to get all sad about seagulls and flying high in the sky. Mio said she had planned on ending things earlier but spending time with the Little Busters made her almost have hope. Riki is like go towards the hope but Mio says it is too late, there have already been promises or what not made.
Vampires can't die....so my theory is super wrong yes? XD
Suddenly there is another Mio on the scene, one that smiles and has no umbrella. Mio refers to her as Midori. Midori is quick to say interesting things and throw away Mio's parasol. It is revealed that Mio has no shadow. Mio starts getting upset and tells Riki not to look. Riki has a narcolepsy attack and the next thing he knows he is in his room with a worried Masato. Kengo and the other boys ask why Riki was alone at the beach but he has no idea why. Time moves on and everything seems normal at school. Riki seems to think something is missing, especially when he sees birds under a tree looking for food. But nothing out of the ordinary happens and everything continues as usual. That is until Riki finds Mio's book. He gets upset that he forgot about Mio and asks Masato if he knows Mio. Riki is surprised when Masato says yes. Riki runs to class to ask Rin, Noumi, and Komari if they know Mio and they are like duh she is right there. Mio walks in...and is friendly and lovely to everyone. Riki immediately knows that it is Midori yet starts to think he is crazy as no one else notices the change. Midori continues to act nice and involved in school life and Riki doesn't understand what is going on. He sits under Mio's tree and looks at her book when Midori appears in the tree. He demands to know what is going on and Midori wonders why Riki can remember Mio. Riki guesses that Midori is Mio's lost shadow and Midori says he is partially right, revealing she has no shadow either. She doesn't talk about where Mio is, only that Riki will eventually forgot about Mio too. Midori tries to...seduce Riki I suppose and rip the Mio book but that leads Riki to pushing Midori away. Midori smiles all weird like and THE END!
Not again!
MOG! How long is this girl's arc?! I don't even know what is going on with this girl and I just want to find out alright so we can move on. Like we haven't even gotten this much time with the original Little Busters of some of the other new girls but we have like 4 episodes about Mio? Draggy indeed.
I would tell Riki to focus but....
Also I am slightly disappointed and confused on what Mio's problem is. Maybe because I am all like VAMPIRE and I didn't want to be wrong. But I guess I will go in order of the episode to make sense. Which is boring but you know. I keep typing that, ya'll must know a lot.
Riki had a lot of dramatic face moments this episode.
Even after being told a bit of Mio's problem I don't understand why her classmates were forgetting her. While the episode was happening I was just puzzled. Because before it just appeared that no one really noticed her, not that she was actually nearly invisible/no presence at all. We had some.....shall we say very quiet kids at our school and yet if they weren't in class it was still noticeable. Especially when there is an empty seat to reference.
Why is everyone crazy?!
So while Riki was losing his mind and getting angry doing so I guess is understandable. Especially since the Little Busters are known for opening their arms wide and accepting all. Maybe Riki felt as if everyone was picking on Mio? That they only embrace outgoing people and since Riki was a shy person at first he can relate to Mio more? Or maybe he thought it was a giant prank and was getting pissed off. Either way it was almost Riki smash time.
Well this is probably not a good sign Riki.
When Mio does reappear on a sunny day she doesn't open her mouth and say what was wrong with her or what her magical secret is. Because that would just be silly folks. No no she just has to do this long song and dance routine. Give Riki her book. Not answer his questions. Because if she told him what was going on what fun would that be? TO THE BEACH!!!
But...I still am going to leave. Just thought I would tell you I appreciate you trying.
So we get to the beach...and we still get no explanation. Riki doesn't really seem to want one anymore. Not since Mio is going on and on about how she almost changed her mind about all of this because of the Little Busters. Riki focused the more on changing her mind than what the thing that was going to take her away. Like okay not following what you are saying but go towards the light. The light that has baseball, cats, and the spirit of youth.
Can I just say walking around under an umbrella all the time must be hard? I nearly crashed into my car today because of my umbrella. XD
The Mio look alike appears and her name is Midori. And Midori is a bit mean spirited. Or maybe she sensed that us viewers wanted some answers. Behind door number one: Mio carries a parasol because she has no shadow! Wait that is actually interesting please tell me more. WAIT RIKI NOOOOO!
Thanks Riki. Wouldn't want to know more or anything.
At least Riki doesn't only have narcolepsy attacks when important things are said. He has had one during fun, while cooking, and now when we are learning about the Mio shadowless thing. It would make me mad if it only happened during important moments. Good thing that Riki always gets rescued and brought back by good people. Someone is always looking out for that kid.
Masato is always there for Riki. He needs more respect.
When Riki first wakes up there is no Mio. And Riki can't remember her. He just talks about how something seems off but never mentions Mio. And no one else does either. So I thought maybe she was slowly fading from existence and her shadow was the first thing to go. She would always talk about time and how she didn't have much left. But if she wasn't sick this would be a likely explanation right?
But me remembering was supposed to be important!!!
Since Riki was given Mio's book he was able to remember her. Right at the same time everyone else remembered Mio. And when Mio appeared in class. At first I was like....well that was pretty anticlimactic Why would Riki need a jolt if everyone else was going to remember her too?
Well that is a creepy little smile there "Mio".
Only it turned out it was Midori in the classroom. A happy and talkative version of Mio that everyone likes and talks up. Riki is not having a good week as far as his friends see it. First he is trying to tell them that Mio is missing and now he is losing his mind and insisting that this is Midori. Who the heck is Midori?I am surprised they didn't send Riki to the clinic. Of course....Riki is right and was just frustrated about how special his life has been lately.
I would say that Mio is Midori's shadow now but...no one has a shadow. And who knew the kids teasing Mio were right?! X___X
Okay so Midori approaches Riki later to explain just what the heck is going on. Only NOT! Riki guesses that Midori is Mio's missing shadow and she says he is 80 percent right? What the heck? A shadow? That is the real secret? It doesn't even make sense. Shouldn't she be an evil reflection or something?! And why doesn't Midori have a shadow? Because she is a shadow? Oh and WHERE IS MIDORI?! Midori seemed to agree to this disappearance. Did her shadow gain a soul and told Mio that the world would better with Midori than Mio?
So not Mio X_____X
In any event I am like...this is special. But I guess I should be happy that they are not twins because I was like NOOOO they can't be twins. I guess I just thought it was going to be wrapped up and explained in this episode and it wasn't. Which is fine. Just wondering why Mio is getting so much attention and if she is going to return. And it was slightly draggy, just come out with the truth faster gosh. XD

it showed that midori have only half shadow once she apeard before riki at the end of the episode
Hello @Christina
Let's get straight to the supernatural bits here:
So many questions.
What exactly is Midori? We've already ruled out the twin and vampire theories. So, again, what is she? Why doesn't she have a shadow? What happened to Mio? What's Midori's intentions with Riki and the others? How is Mio connected to Midori? How long is Mio's arc? Because JC Staff has to go through the other girls' arcs and maybe one of the guys. So they can't fool around too much with filler episodes or Mio's story.
I feel this season would have been better had JC Staff done a 55+ episodes format and NOT animate another show at the same time. >:(
Off topic regarding xxxHolic: They might use the other egg to somehow resurrect Yuuko and the others as ordinary high school students. CLAMP really ruined the ending of xxxHolic by writing an unsatisfying conclusion. I also think that they should finish up X and perhaps bring back Tsubasa like you said. I mean, Tsubasa, X and xxxHolic are connected. I'm sure fans want to see Tsubasa characters again.
Isn't Blood-C somehow connected to the CLAMP universe? Would Saya appear in the new xxxHolic manga? I don't know about that. I think xxxHolic fans would be annoyed than excited about fail-hero Saya; Blood-C was a rather poor adaptation of the Blood franchise compared to Blood+.
My question as a whole: would Blood fans want to see a completely different and new Blood show? With better writing, great characters, and interesting episodes? Maybe someone can redeem the franchise. Maybe.
About the live action xxxHolic show. Come on, Christina. Just one blog about that show! There's only eight episodes total and you only have to watch one. Maybe you'll think it's funniest thing ever and see how hilariously bad actors are funny! I don't think it will be that bad. Just be glad that Hollywood isn't the one making xxxHolic TV series. Because you'll probably see Keanu Reeves pretending to be a high school student in Japan or Jennifer Lopez as Yuuko. LMAO!! :)
That's all.
That's not half a shadow, elior. That is her clothes' shadow. If she was totally nude, there will be no shadow.
The classmates' bullying word turned out to be truth, he he. Shocking? Probably not, since I have somewhat spoiled it...
Mio's arc is ending next week. That's something I can say for sure. Since her arc only has a little material left. Half an episode would be enough if they only pick the important conversation and explanation. One episode if they animate all of her flashback / backstory.
Still.... it will be episode 14 then. And they only animated 2 girls' arc out of a lot of girls. Not to mention that they haven't even finished animating the common route. But don't worry(?) I remember reading that the director promised not to skip anything. Maybe they will make season 2, or Little Busters! After Story. LOL. Wouldn't want to piss off the fans~
Anonymous- That is what is so confusing! I know that shadows can't have shadows but Midori not having one and being one means what? Mio didn't have a shadow either. Just...rarw.
Anonymous 2- It is odd that we are getting so much Mio time since she is the last Little Buster! (as Kengo joins the team obviously) to join yet so much time is spent on her. I guess everyone else and their shadows can wait.
But it is looking like we are going to get a second season no matter what. Even if everyone got one episode each there is not enough time to have whatever awful thing is going to happen to happen for it to get resolved.
I always thought the egg was there to make Watanuki to forget abotu Yuuko. But hello the first Domeki should have used it ten minutes after Yuuko died. But since CLAMP is all about bringing dead people back I do hope that Yuuko and the others return in some form...if only to get my yaoi colored glasses ending.
As for Blood-C Sayaka does visit Watanuki at the shop but all the rules get thrown out the window as apparently she gets a new sword yet never makes a payment. So she can just go die off in the sunset alone.
Eternia- I am thinking we are going to get a second season of Little Busters! as well. Maybe we will get two !!. Or maybe it will be Littler Busters-er!
But Mio and her shadowless self is getting a lot of attention. I would have never guessed the mean comments about Mio were actually going to be correct. XD
