I need to start off with an apology. Last time I blogged this show I thought for some reason it was episode 12. X__X Maybe because I was excited about what was going to happen in episode 13 due to whisperings on the internet? The whisperings being that Yuno is going to be crazy. Because she is not crazy YET.
So yeah I apologize for being so utterly wrong for 7 days. :*( Sorry if that caused any confusion.
But let’s get to blogging folks! Spoilers for the real episode 12 of Mirai Nikki. That being bombs and dramatic words and such.
Episode Summary: Episode Summary: That random cop dude is talking to Keigo about how there are explosive everywhere but they are surrounding the building. Minene tells Yuno and Yuki her plans on getting them out alive. Yuki is going to patrol the halls, Yuno is going to guard the hostages (wife and sick son), and Minene will talk to Keigo and negotiate their way out. Yuki is like WTF but Minene gives him a grenade and tells him to go at it. Yuki tries to cheer Yuno up by saying if they get out of here alive he wants to take her somewhere. Minene calls Keigo but Keigo is like NO DEAL. He has given up trying to save his kid and will instead become a god to wish him and his wife back to life. Minene is not pleased about this turn o events. Yuno tries to warn Yuki to run but he is taken down by 6 armed SWAT people because overkill is fun. Random cop dude is like Keigo this is a BAD plan. Keigo tells random cop to go home and goes into the hospital. Before he can reach Yuki Yuno appears out of nowhere and kills ALL the SWAT people. Keigo takes Yuki hostage and there is a Mexican standoff in the hall. Then Yuno decides she will kill Keigo and herself to save Yuki. Yuki is like UM NO but Yuno gets a hold of the grenade and pulls the pin.
Minene tried escaping from the building only to run into random cop. He takes her into custody as the grenade goes off. Minene was like oh that was just a flash bomb it will be fine. Well then the real bomb goes off sending Yuki, Yuno, and Keigo flying. Keigo manages to get a hold of Yuno and Yuki is the one with a gun. But his phone shows him accidentally killing Yuno in the process. Yuno begs Yuki to kill her and Keigo, as she has reached so much happiness already and wants Yuki to be safe. Yuki screams that is not good enough, that he wants to be with her because he loves her and they can make it out of here together. For some reason Yuki saying that makes his aim better and he only hits Keigo. Keigo tries to take out Yuno anyway but Minene and random cop show up. Minene told random cop about all the crazy and how Yuki and Yuno are innocent (WTF?!) and that Keigo is no longer a cop. Keigo then breaks his phone, asks Minene to take care of his son, and tells Yuki to win the game. Then he poofs away. ALL IS WELL THOUGH! Yuki and Yuno are set free from random cop and all is blamed on Keigo WEEEE! So Yuki decides that he is going to take Yuno to see his dad and the stars! Only Akise is trying to warn Yuki about spending time with on the run Yuno. Which is probably a good idea since Yuno’s bag as a pile of bones in it. THE END!
Oh….:(
I am a little disappointed. Mainly because it seems that Minene was the main badass this episode and she had a humorous scene! Then we had Yuno flip floppin all over the place. And then there was Yuki. Yeah…Yuki.
But the biggest badass moment of the show came when Keigo was like PSHT who cares if my family is hostage. Let them die. I will become God and fix everything anyway YAY!!! That might be smart thinking but DAMN. That is banking on a lot of different scenarios. I mean he could still be killed by one of the remaining Diary Users if Yuno and Yuki were out of the way. That and I am not sure how I could function if my family/husband was killed even if I could maybe bring them back.
Okay so putting that aside Keigo looked pretty stupid. Maybe he was acting badass but I couldn’t take him seriously with that getup on. I am surprised that during the intermission between episode 11 and 12 they didn’t tap his arms to his head or something. So stupid.
I love how Minene came up with this mega plan and nothing happened the way she wanted it to. Which is a good thing I guess. If things were predictable it would be a boring show yes? But Minene was like okay Yuki here is you a grenade and you are going to guard us while I make nice with Keigo. Her crazy faces when she realized that everything was going down the toilet was priceless.
However a bunch of people need to be fired…again. Minene was sneaking outside the hospital and NO ONE saw her? Were they all getting shot by Yuno inside? Apparently. This gave Minene a reason to be captured by random cop dude…and explain to him in a few minutes what the Diaries were all about and have him fire Keigo. Because he has that kind of authority…..
Speaking of Yuno….her shooting skills have were AMAZING this episode. She was right in front of Keigo last week and managed to only shoot him in the ear. This episode she shot like 6 SWAT team like people all in the one vulnerable spot on their necks. Just bam bam bam. Maybe if she had done that LAST EPISODE things would have turned out differently?
I was slightly disappointed that the bomb wasn’t real. I guess if it was that would mean Yuki would seriously be in trouble right? Well mainly because Yuno would be dead but also because I am sure having pieces of random metal in your back might cause a delay in your own escape.
While Yuki has been reacting like a normal teenage boy thus far in this series (acting SCARED and uncertain) he took a dose of courage or something. Yuno for some reason was content to die TWICE and Yuki was like crazy you can’t be with me if you are dead! Yuno was fine dying for Yuki but Yuki pointed out that HE would not be fine with that. That if they both tried really hard maybe they could overlook that rule of one person surviving and they could be happy. Yuki convinced Yuno that instead of being okay with 2nd place it was time to reach for the stars.
So Yuki shots Keigo and Yuno is still all amazed that Yuki actually likes her. Minene comes and disappoints me. Instead of shooting EVERYONE she simply tells Keigo now his Investigation Diary is useless so he has to commit suicide. Which is what she wanted from the start. But she was actually in a position to kill ALL OF THEM. Meh. Maybe having a cop handcuffed to her stopped her from reaching all the awesome.
I love how Keigo was like take care of my kid Minene….but wants Yuki to win. Um shouldn’t you be asking the ALIVE person that? Or the person you want to be alive? Just saying.
But a lot of things don’t make sense with this series. Like how Yuno killed at least 6 cops and Yuki shot one and NOTHING happened to them. Well Akise was telling Yuki that Yuno was on the run but from what? Yuki had just said 5 seconds ago that they were cleared of all charges thanks to the new guy in charge so why was she running? Because the cops realized SHE KILLED 6 OF THEM?! Really that made me mad. The school blows up life moves on. Mao gets stabbed but hey we aren’t going to see them again. And now Yuki and Yuno can shoot all the cops they want but magically get away with it. I SEE.
Oh and did I mention that Yuno is crazy? When I go on trips I don’t pack skeletons. I just don’t. Especially on a plane because I am not paying for extra baggage! What happened to that big hole in the backyard? Is that where most of the body parts went but Yuno needs the heads for something else? Crazy.
So my new theories of the week are as follows. Daddy didn’t pick up the phone because he is a Diary user. Or dead. Or maybe MAYBE when Yuki’s parents got divorced he married Yuno’s mom and abused the family and Yuno killed him and is returning the skull to its HOME. That’s why Yuno needs to be with Yuki, her amazing not really stepbrother…so she can kill him HAHAHA!!!
Probably not. But dad could be dead. Or a Diary User. I just want to see what crazy thing Yuno might do next week. WANTS TO SEE!!

You are good at finding logic fails as always. :-)
But I want to sum it up just like last time:
-First and greatest one, Yuno defeated a bunch of SWAT members by herself. Who is she? Chuck Norris?
-The grenade will explode in 5 seconds after the safety pin is pulled out, right? What makes them think that Yuno can sacrifice herself to die together with Keigo, while Yuki gets to live? No, at that distance, Yuki is toast, too.
-Why is a high ranked police officer can't even use a meat shield properly? As we can see from your screenshot, he can't possibly be shot in the stomach.
-Why is someone so ridiculously stupid such as mr. random cop can become a cop. LOL.
-So what if the detective you have shot survived? You still get into a big trouble. Not to mention all the SWAT members that your wifey injured/killed. It's unthinkable that these two teenagers can go back to normal life.
Considering all these foolishness, how come there are people who said that "Mirai Nikki is awesome!"
Yeah, right, they must have whipped cream as their brain.
I am watching Mirai Nikki for the lolz! That's the correct sentence.
Umm.. from spoilers, I think I can guess whose skeletons are those... But I don't know why Yuno brought them along. For some crazy magic ritual, maybe? Hehe.
Mirai Nikki is entertainment pure and simple, so it works best if not given too much thought about plot holes, (btw, Yuno's superhuman abilities should be treated as a fundamental setting of the universe). That said, the legal mess left at the end is actually interesting, here is my take:
- the only witness to the whole shooting SWAT scene was Yuki.
- 4th disappeared into the void, so to outsiders, did he flee the scene?
- the gun involved was a standard issued police revolver, even though you can do finger print and ballistic analysis etc, it will take time to recover the gun, the bullet fragments from the bodies in order to recreate the scene, which leads to the next point,
- the scene of the crime collasped due to explosion, with bodies scattered, buried, possibly burned to some degree...
- of course the whole thing is still a mess, and Yuno wouldn't be off the hook that easy, but police really didn't have too much to hold two minors (who were victims of police framing and brutality) for extended period of time without a solid case.
So chances are our duo were questioned for a day or so and out on bail ("don't leave town") while CSI team do their work. There were definitely officers following both of them. Yuki was probably unaware and just happy to be home, while shaking off "stalker" police was a cakewalk for Yuno (being a professional and all). She disappeared from radar as soon as released, prompting a relatively discreet manhunt underway (confirmed by Akise's message at the end).
Its funny how people take MN so seriously, its a fantasy obviously. hello God of space and time? hello magical loli? hello magical dairies? Nobody complained how Penguindrum is unrealistic and illogical. Its like action buffs complaining that a shoujo series lacks action.
"-First and greatest one, Yuno defeated a bunch of SWAT members by herself. Who is she? Chuck Norris?"
Oh no yuno is not a realistic portrait of a normal human being omg!!!
"-The grenade will explode in 5 seconds after the safety pin is pulled out, right? What makes them think that Yuno can sacrifice herself to die together with Keigo, while Yuki gets to live? No, at that distance, Yuki is toast, too."
I thought she wanted to kill everyone including him
"-Why is a high ranked police officer can't even use a meat shield properly? As we can see from your screenshot, he can't possibly be shot in the stomach."
Big target cant use small target as meat shield properly duh
"-Why is someone so ridiculously stupid such as mr. random cop can become a cop. LOL."
Cops must be smart in real life and animes lol
"-So what if the detective you have shot survived? You still get into a big trouble. Not to mention all the SWAT members that your wifey injured/killed. It's unthinkable that these two teenagers can go back to normal life."
Normal life what? I thought it was a magical death match, not sure what you are watching there
"Considering all these foolishness, how come there are people who said that "Mirai Nikki is awesome!"
Yeah, right, they must have whipped cream as their brain."
Not sure who is the stupid one here
Hah, right. You are one of those people who are acting smart out of your blind love for your favorite series.
Why said that fantasy can't be logical? Do you ever read Harry Potter? Lord of the Ring?
Do you ever watch Steins Gate? Chaos Head? Fate/Zero? They are purely fantasy too, but they don't have these whooping lots of logic fails, and they have proper explanation for everything.
Your excuse to my first complain doesn't make any sense to me. If she's that good, she should have killed Akise, Hinata, etc during 11 prior episode. Those people are clearly weaker than SWAT.
Yeah, a man is bigger than a girl. But how much bigger? Even in Christina's screenshot, those two have the same height. He could have faced sideways and escaped completely. Also, this is the second time Yuki used a gun. Could you become good at using gun just because of guts/resolve?
Mr. random cop is blushing for the the criminal he wants to capture, getting lovey dovey with her, and let her escape under his nose (last time). There are smart and dumb people in this world, but I don't think there's someone this stupid can join the police force.
It is a normal life. They are even allowed to take public train to visit his father, which lives far away.
Not sure who are the one who are stupid here.
Never said anything about loving it. Just pointing out hypocrisy of your statements.
Those series don't? How do people get super powers? How does magic exit? Oh never mind they just do. Is magic logical? Of course because you said so. If you believe in a magical dude in the sky in real life but cant believe a fictional character killing a bunch of other fictional characters with a gun then you have a problem.
"Your excuse to my first complain doesn't make any sense to me. If she's that good, she should have killed Akise, Hinata, etc during 11 prior episode. Those people are clearly weaker than SWAT."
Lol, you are suppose to be logical? Akise is weaker than SWAT because you said so? Did she use a gun against Akise? Yuno didnt kill Hinata because she is weaker than her? This is the kind of hypocrisy Im talking about.
"Yeah, a man is bigger than a girl. But how much bigger? Even in Christina's screenshot, those two have the same height. He could have faced sideways and escaped completely. Also, this is the second time Yuki used a gun. Could you become good at using gun just because of guts/resolve?"
Sideways holding a hostage with a tiny knife? That doesnt even happen in real life. And one can always get lucky with gun shots and thats a lot more realistic than summoning magical swords. But to your mind magical summonings are suppose to be more logical.
"Mr. random cop is blushing for the the criminal he wants to capture, getting lovey dovey with her, and let her escape under his nose (last time). There are smart and dumb people in this world, but I don't think there's someone this stupid can join the police force."
He got some use out of her how is that particular part stupid? Corrupt yes but not stupid.
"It is a normal life. They are even allowed to take public train to visit his father, which lives far away."
If you think this anime is about normal life then I am sorry, nobody is watching it for normal life and it doesnt exit here.
Sigh... can't you learn to differentiate?
Super power, magic, flying, summons, they are the FANTASY PARTS of those series.
For the very same reason, I would never question:
-Is god of time really exist?
-Or, why did he only pick Japanese to be his successor?
-Can cellphones really show our future?
-How could hand writings and drawing books update themselves just like electronic displays are?
No, I don't mind them at all, because they are the FANTASY PARTS of Mirai Nikki.
What I am questioning are trivia things that the stupid author failed to notice, such as:
-how come Keigo can't shield himself from Yuki's gunshot? Who said that he needs to face sideway from the start??? He can look at Yuki's finger to judge the timing.
-Yuno can defeat a lot of SWAT members, axed down a lot of zombie, but failed to stab to death two high school girls who want to harm her lover.
-She hate Akise enough to kill him. Dude. I wonder why won't she do something like that behind Yuki's back. Considering she's that strong and that crazy.
-mr. random cop gets to keep his job all this time despite his stupidity prior to episode 12.
Now, I challenge you to find these trivia mistakes from the anime I mentioned.
Wow so fantasy is now logical? The reason they are fantasies is because they are not logical. There is nothing to differentiate in the first place unless you are a hypocrite.
"For the very same reason, I would never question:"
lol unquestionable belief? its either logical or its not, take your pick.
"-how come Keigo can't shield himself from Yuki's gunshot? Who said that he needs to face sideway from the start??? He can look at Yuki's finger to judge the timing."
What? Are you serious? Do you realize how fast the trigger pull is and to judge at this distance and angle? This is unreal.
"-Yuno can defeat a lot of SWAT members, axed down a lot of zombie, but failed to stab to death two high school girls who want to harm her lover."
Yuki stopped her duh and the other girl was just lucky to survive the stabbing.
"-She hate Akise enough to kill him. Dude. I wonder why won't she do something like that behind Yuki's back. Considering she's that strong and that crazy."
She only tried to kill him because she thought he was an immediate threat. Now Akise isnt trying to kill Yuki or Yuno and hes not a Diary user so what is the incentive and since hes stronger its risky.
"-mr. random cop gets to keep his job all this time despite his stupidity prior to episode 12."
Lol he trusted the hot chick in order to escape the serial killer.
And he didnt let her escape he got shot. Besides nobody saw it why cant he keep his job?
"Now, I challenge you to find these trivia mistakes from the anime I mentioned."
Your examples dont make any sense.
The only reason Im replying is because I hate hypocrites.
Yeah, hate me all you want.
As if it's going to affect my life in anyway. Hahaha.
You do realize that this is someone else's blog, do you? And at least, the writer has the same complains as I am. Yawn.
X____X So many feelings over this episode.
I think that fantasy shows/movies should have a sliver of logic in them. Last night my husband and I finally watched the newest Transformer movie. And there was a lot of logic fail. Not parts like oh why are there giant talking robots on Earth and magical sparkle...whatever that thing was that brought the old robot dude back to life. No things that like are part of the fantasy element.
Things like why the humans were able to do a pretty effective job against the baddie robots is where logic fail kicks in. I am not sure how effective a regular gun would be against a metal HUGE robot would be. Or why ALL the baddie robots were hiding out on the Moon when they could have been on Earth the whole time.
That is where I am with this show. I like Mirai Nikki. It hasn't reached the level of Blood-C yet. "Special" things are overlooked for the sake of plot. Like Yuno's ability to kill all the SWAT guys yet Keigo was RIGHT in front of her. They needed him alive for one more episode so for a second Yuno had to "miss" whereas any other time she would have shot them, skinned them, and made a squirrel necklace out of them.
Other things like Yuki and Yuno going free are bigger mistakes. Because even if there were no survivors of the hospital killings there is still the one cop at the station that was shot. Why would Yuno be the one followed by the police? It should have been Yuki.
I think to be a cleverly crafted show one must pay close attention to details. Mirai Nikki is certainly entertaining but it could be more amazing had they tightened things up a bit.
Just a difference of opinions. Some people like to analyze shows and others just want to sit back and enjoy. As long as we are having a good time that is all that matters.
Yes, this person who argued with is just a kid who (as I say) can't differs things apart. Well, I will be 20 next February, if you wonder. He's implying that because I treat god of time existing as logical, I also have to approve that an amateur such as Yuki can shoot a high ranked police officer in the stomach, while he's standing behind his girlfriend and taking her hostage.
Now, where's the relevance?
I agree that that's the weakness of Transformer. Considering they are high tech alien robots, who can even shapeshift, creates miniature rocket launcher while it's as small as a cellphone, and the boss can lift 266854 tanks with a raise of one hand. It's weird that current humanity's weapons can actually hurt them. :-)
I think Christina was right that some people like to analyze shows and others just want to sit back and enjoy. It perfectly normal to have different opinions, but I hope we can maintain a civil and light-hearted discussion. There really is no need to ridicule people for liking or disliking a show.
Eternia will probably disagree with me, but I find that to the production team's credit, the biggest strength of this show is its self-awareness. It knows what it excels at (the twist and turns, the yandere antics, the violence and occassional black humor), and what it doesn't (plugging logic holes, characterization of supporting cast, consistency in production value etc). As a result, it stays true to itself, striving to be good entertainment first and foremost. It's not Death Note, Steins Gate or Fate/Zero and it's not trying to be, but it's this self-awareness that sets it apart from the shows such as Guilty Crown that takes itself way too seriously.
Oh, as for Christina's question that since Yuki shot a cop in the police station and why was he off the hook so easily?
Well, as his defense attorney I would have argued that first and formost - as a minor, minutes ago he was framed and almost shot in the head by a senior police detective so he was clearly traumatized (at this point it's only his story against a disappeared/fled 4th who "kindly" left notes confirming he intended to frame & murder this kid - not good publicity for the department to say the least). In the next few minutes he was pursued by other officers pointing guns at him. The officer in the confrontation obviously did not follow proper procedures and discharged weapon first ("warning shot" in the confines of a staircase, with Nishijima as hostage was definitely not a good idea), so he panicked and pulled the trigger.
As it stands, police probably still has a case against him, but a rather weak one at that. So there is a chance he can be out on bail while forensic teams and district attorney do their job in the background. Or perhaps Nishijima backed Yuki's story, and the head of the department realized pursuring this matter would only generate even more negative publicity and thus reached a non-disclosure deal with the kid?
Even in the case they were still following him, it's perfectly reasonable. He was home for the next 5 days recovering and wouldn't have known or cared. (Yuno is a different story as I explained in an earlier post).
Let's say the police continued to follow Yuki or Yuno after they met on June 19 and boarded the train, let's just say by the next episode we will have other things to be concerned with than to worry about their legal status.
That's not true, I respected your reasonings and point of view very much, dene323. I have never said against your post, don't I? Because your explanations was objective and unbiased.
Yeah, this is not "Death Note" or "Liar Game". I did say I am watching it for the laughs, especially Minene's face when she (probably) thought "WTF did I do to meet this stupid random cop again?"
:-)
Everyones- I think it is pretty interesting how everyone can watch the same show and have different ways of viewing things or appreciating things. Which is a good thing as if everyone thought the same way this world would be a predictable and boring place. Well in terms of anime. Hopefully on bigger issues in life people can more or less agree.
People have brought up really good points in regards to Yuki not being followed by the police. With new random cop in tow and how the public views what Keigo "did" (as we weren't told exactly what the news report said) they could still have their eye on Yuki while allowing him to go free. Yuki sorta reminds me of Final Destination. The same kid is always around when someone gets killed but they can never really pin it on him.
Wonder if in the files Keigo left he totally cleared Yuki but he still lists Yuno as dangerous thus her crazy butt is still being followed.
All that being said Yuki is still pretty special for smiling after all that has happened. Crazy kid. XD
I think my husband was slightly disappointed in Transformers 3. And he is the kinda person who just watches movies and doesn't analyze them. But I thought the human sugar glider part was cute. XD
