Today has been a super productive day. See folks, being angry at the world can be positive. I am so busy plotting vicious and outrageous things in my head the house is starting to sparkle. Kira is none too happy as she was part of the cleaning house process too. Do you sparkle Kira?!
So anime time? Yes anime time. It can't always be Daryl time folks. Up now is Zetsuen no Tempest episode 5. Spoilers for the poor fishies. :(
I am having a hard time not talking to people and it's been two days. POOR HAKAZE!
Episode Summary: Mahiro and Yoshino are taking a lovely stroll through the nothingness as Hakaze wakes up on her lonely little island. As they walk Hakaze and Yoshino explain to the viewers what is going on. Long ago the Tree of Genesis and Tree of Exodus got in a huge fight as trees often do. Mr. Logic Tree won and splattered the Exodus tree all over the place. But the Genesis Tree was weaken after the fight and needed to take a long nap and accept offerings of computers and cars to feel better. So Samon and his people are using the Genesis’ Tree power to bring back the Exodus tree. Yoshino thinks to himself…this doesn’t sound right HMMMM! Hakaze directs them to more talismans as Samon directs his men to follow Yoshino and Mahiro, going to places that Hakaze might have hidden some talismans. Yoshino and Mahiro end up at an aquarium which makes Yoshino all sad. He takes up back to happier times, to times where Aika was breathing and going on dates to the aquarium with him. She joked that they had to hide from Mahiro or else he would be killed. She also talks about how everything happens for a reason, no matter how small or sad the situation is. Yoshino thinks that Aika would say…I was meant to die so Mahiro would be the one to save the world.
I'm important so don't kill me bitches.
Mahiro and Yoshino locate the one talisman which is a dolphin necklace similar to one that Aika wanted to buy for Yoshino. Before Yoshino can not cry any tears POOF Tetsuma, another clan member, and his group of merry men appear. Hakaze explains to the boys that Tetsuma only operates under logic so he is pissed that the Genesis tree is favoring Hakaze. With that explained…Tetsuma is like come with us quietly or we will take you by force. Mahiro decides that he likes the force part better so battle time woohoo! Yoshino is able to save the both of them by using the entire dolphin necklace magic up. While they hide there is more of Yoshino thinking and avoiding Mahiro’s glances. Samon is visited by Natsumura who apologizes for sucking at capturing the boys. Samon muses that Hakaze must know where they are and have told the boys as following the fruits would narrow down their location. It is shown that Samon tricked Hakaze into spending time with kids away from civilization. She was telling the kids why someone in the village left, that that person hates fighting when Samon showed up. He basically begged Hakaze to talk with him one more time so they could work things out. Hakaze showed him her true power and said no dice folks. Back in the present Mahiro decides to use Yoshino’s plan but on a larger scale. He basically floods the aquarium after using Yoshino as bait. Tetsuma and his crew are forced to retreat as Mahiro threatens to electrocute them.
Epic tree fight!!!
Hakaze then talks about how she is important to stopping the Trees if things go wrong in the ceremony thus she is alive. She tells the boys to go to Junichirou, the neutral person who left their village, as he has one of her most powerful talismans. They travel to the college boys house and are allowed entry after saying the magic password. He hands over a briefcase to the boys and promises he hasn’t opened it since he received it. He offers the boys to light incense for the passing of dear Hakaze. Hakaze is remaining quiet as she didn’t want Junichirou to know she was stranded on an island but goes WTF?! Junichirou tells the boys that he confirmed it was her body himself and that she was dead. Samon is off in his hideout looking at a barrel, similar to the one he sent Hakaze off in. He takes out a skull and suddenly it is implied this could be Hakaze’s head? Or Aika’s? WHO KNOWS! THE END!
Well that is good to know Samon.
XO Well how come when I am all set and ready to write something the last few minutes of an episode totally change where I was going. How dare things not be predictable and such! The shame.
Or are they?
While I write this the irony of the episode is not lost upon me. They went to the aquarium to get a talisman and 5 seconds after getting said dolphin talisman it was used up. So basically this adventure was useless for everyone. WOOHOO! In fact Mahiro and Yoshino might have used more magics left on talismans besides the one they dug up. Tetsuma might not have lost that much and gained anger instead. Well maybe he lost some pride. So…yeah. YAY FOR EVERYONE!
Wait wait wait....Yoshino wore glasses?
Our flashback of Aika came back this week! I know that everyone is so happy to see her and how much she contributes to this show despite being dead. It seems as if Aika and Yoshino were dating for a lot longer than…well than I assumed. Yoshino little hairdo is because of Aika and he has been wearing that for a while. I guess Yoshino really can keep a secret. Aika too. Mahiro must be a really scary older brother. Or they just assumed that. Wonder what would have happened had they been honest with him. Still it almost seems like this episode happened just to make Yoshino feel bad.
HMMMMMM how do I feel about this...
Maybe it is because everything happens for a reason MOG was that said enough times? The entire premise of the show I suppose. But I can see why in the face of magic and people with powers Yoshino could be upset about that. I am not sure whose point of view I support in this show. People take comfort saying that everything happens for a reason, usually when something negative happens. Saying things like God is in control. I tend to think that bad things happen and out of that God will try to make it positive. Like if Aika was going to be murdered God realized that Mahiro would then step up and save the world. If that makes sense adding God into a conversation about magical anime shows from Japan.
:( These were the before times, back when Yoshino was super cute.
So after seeing the entire episode…I am not sure if this is all fate. More like one giant coincidence. Was this the same aquarium that Aika and Yoshino visited so long ago? Probably not. Was that the same necklace? Maybe. But Aika didn’t die so Mahiro could become part of this mission to save the Earth. At the end of this mess Samon is going to wish he picked a different girl. So yeah…everything happens for a reason. But mainly because someone starts to do the one thing and people react to it. Kill someone’s sister and hey maybe they will come after you. Am I making much sense yet?
Back it up there....dead?!
What I am trying to say is that maybe Hakaze IS dead. And perhaps Aika is NOT dead. And perhaps if The Walking Dead kills Daryl THEY will be dead. Kidding kidding actually no I’m not. What if Samon wasn’t just being over dramatic with holding the skull and pretending it was Hakaze’s? What if Junichirou wasn’t wrong about his tribute to dead Hakaze? What if….Hakaze’s body is GONE and Aika’s spirit is gone and Hakaze is inside of Aika? I mean…I could go further with my theory and say that Hakaze is totally dead and Aika has been tricked into thinking she is Hakaze but that won’t work out if this Tree of Bible Story Number One and Tree of Bible Story Number 2 business goes haywire.
Um...whose skull is that? Have you gone Yuno on us now?
No no it is probably that Samon is insane and really thought about this plan. He needs Hakaze alive in case his plans go wrong. But keeping her “alive” enough for the Tree to listen to her is different than keeping her 100 percent alive. Thus Aika was killed as she is similar age/build to Hakaze. To house Aika and keep her somewhere else. I am not sure how this will affect Mr. Tree of Genesis or what the rules of logic are involving soul transfer but Samon seems to want to change things to Mr. Tree of Exodus. Maybe this tree allows for people to be brought back to life and use fireballs. Yoshino will rejoice at that. Yay fireballs. So that is what I think. Hakaze didn’t know about Aika being killed because HAHA she was the one dead. Throw a little magic on the body and Mahiro thinks he saw his sister. Maybe when all this mess is done Yoshino will have to pick which soul gets the body and what not and that will determine if the world stays logical or not. I think all of this made more sense in my head. Two girls, one dead body. Any questions?
Good thing Yoshino and Mahiro were telling the truth and knew the magic boobie words!
Of course I could be wrong and maybe Junichirou is just special or too over dramatic for words. And maybe Samon just likes to walk around carrying skulls. If someone has that much magic in them maybe they can do anything they want. Maybe that is the previous princess’s head. But at least it got my little mind thinking. Of course I am thinking about Giant Trees going to war! Like how does this happened folks? The Garden of Eden just had tons of trees with special names and they wanted to be in charge? I see folks. I see indeed. Although I do find it funny that the clan is taking power from the Genesis Tree and are trying to bring back the Exodus one. That is like borrowing someone’s car so you can go to their house later and steal all their stuff. Wrong dude. Simply wrong.
Can you explain logic on why your face looks like that?
As for what exactly happened in this episode…Tetsuma probably will get pretty annoying. I mean Mahiro’s reasoning behind magic not being logic and his sister’s death not being logical thus nothing is logical which makes that the new logical makes…well no sense but I follow it. Tetsuma belongs to a clan that is supported by a magic tree so…you know…the fact that the magic tree supports and protects Hakaze isn’t that far off. It is not that crazy. Seems like he is reaching for a reason to hate Hakaze. Maybe that is because I don’t think magic is logical and these people are still trying to justify it. But in terms of fighting….I don’t think Tetsuma was all that hot or smart. He had a team with him and managed to accomplish nothing. And he has an attitude problem. XD
So how did you get this far without Yoshino? XD
Mahiro and Yoshino make a good team. I do think that Mahiro is benefiting in the long run though. Yoshino is like BAM I thought of a plan and all you can do is copy it. I guess Mahiro is the best at screaming things at people so that counts for something. I just feel bad for Yoshino as he is keeping all of this sadness on the inside and is keeping it together in the meantime. Also I feel bad for the poor dolphin necklace that didn’t get to do anything.
This is not looking like the face of a villain. Sensing Magic Knights Rayearth up in here!
This episode showed that Samon was sneaky but maybe things aren’t what they appear. I was getting XXXholics vibes folks. He tricked Hakaze with the kids yes but the way he was pleading with her…maybe she was DYING and he wanted to change the logic of the Earth to save her life. So…maybe he is not this ultimate baddie. Just really smart with his hiding of the floating fruit and knowing that he can’t possibly win so he needs to have tons of plan B’s, G’s, and Y’s.
:( Poor Yoshino needs a hug.
Is that about it? I felt as if this post lost direction because there was too much in my head. Hakaze may or may not be alive, Samon maybe not be a baddie, and Mahiro may not care about any of this and hack people into tiny pieces. Poor Yoshino. He and his pent up feelings might explode by the end of this. But it will all happen for a reason so it will be okay folks.

First, let me say that I'm sorry that you had a bad day at work. :(
I hope you get better and put that awful time behind.
Now, onto Zetsuen no Tempest.
Hmmm. I don't know what to make of this episode. There were many questions being asked instead of finding answers by the audience. But the biggest question: Will Aika return back to life? (No spoilers from people who have read the manga please)
I think Aika will since she's very important to the world. And that everyone (heroes and villains) is being used by a greater evil to resurrect itself and bring forth destruction via tree of epicness.
The time between Yoshino and Aika during happier days was touching. But such moments of happiness in a serious magical show would obviously lead to tragedy.
It's sorta strange how Aika was all "Ice Princess" toward Yoshino publicly and Ms. Girlfriend to him in private--I guess it's because of Mahiro being overprotective. Sure, Yoshino stood Aika up but I was hoping it was for a noble intention like saving a group of people from destruction and Aika would still be angry yet understanding of the situation. Maybe that's why she gave him a second chance. Or he was just being irresponsible and she forgave him anyways. I don't know.
Anonymous- No spoilers indeed!
But with all this build up I would expect that Aika will make a return. Even if it is brief and tragic and she just dies again. If she was ever dead. So many questions indeed. But I am thinking there aren't really any villains in this show at all and Samon will be all NOOOOO at the end when his helpful plan to save the world is foiled by hot headed Mahiro.
I wonder what Mahiro would have done if he was told the truth about Yoshino and Aika. Sure he is...upset a lot but since he wasn't told the truth it is hard to tell if he would have gone that route. Plus I think he did know and he has been giving Yoshino tons of outs to explain himself.

There has to be a villain in this story; an excellent story requires conflict. And what better source of conflict than that of a dreaded, competent, and powerful villain? Otherwise it would just be a boring show.
Samon (keep thinking of the fish Salmon. LOL) would probably be classified as the anti-villain archetype, so you're right. He's not the true villain of this story and just a misguided individual with good intentions. We'll have to wait until later episodes to make an accurate judgement of his character.
I know I sound like I'm a broken recorder right now, but I'm guessing there will be a malevolent god (real villain) that's pulling everyone's strings for nefarious reasons. I know it might be cliche with this whole "ultimate evil" angle, but it might bring an added dimension and make this story more interesting.
Still wanting for the beach episode with pointless fanservice though. LMAO
1st Anonymous- I think that the real baddie will be the Tree o Genesis. That the Exodus Tree was like dudes I was actually trying to help you out the whole time! And the fact that I am banking on a tree being the main baddie means this series is either different or special. XD Maybe a bit of both. But yeah at this point I can't see Samon as an enemy. It will be a surprise to me if he really is the enemy at the end of this series.
