XO Look at all this stuff I am doing before work! Does that mean I can come home afterwards and slack off? No? I should keep up the momentum and get more done? Curses! Curses!....I guess I can't be like Kira the shoelace stealer and sleep for 20 hours a day...
Lets sparkle together!
Up now before I race off to work is Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun episode 5. Spoilers for snacks and Tenchi leaving hungry now. :(
Define together....
Episode Summary: Haru is talking to Misawa about his upcoming date with Shizuku. At first Misawa is happy for this development but learns that Haru is planning on having sex on said date. Misawa tries to talk Haru out of this nonsense. The next term starts at school and Haru surprises Shizuku before she walks in. He says he is happy school has started again since she never answered his calls all summer. The rest of their classmates are X____X at this apparent confession. They go to class where they learn Asako is sick. They have no kind words for her and life goes on. Shizuku questions how Haru can get such high grades if he never studies. He replies that when he skipped all of middle school that is when he did all of his studying for all the possible grades. Shizuku thought she was ahead of the gang with her studying second year material. She gets all sad and quiet. After school Haru asks Shizuku where she wants to go on their date and she replies the library. Before Haru can get a real answer out of her he notices that Yuzan was waiting outside the school. Haru takes off but forgets to take Shizuku with him. Yuzan smiles as he was there to see Shizuku anyway. Shizuku tries avoiding him but ends up following him. Haru emerges from his hiding spot and accidentally scares Chizuru. Haru makes Chizuru spy to see if Yuzan is still out there. Chizuru confirms that Yuzan has left. Haru and Chizuru talk for a while. Haru notices she is the class rep and comments that she seems nice. Chizuru tries to work up the nerve to talk to Haru but he runs off suddenly.
Because that would make sense!
Shizuku seems to be walking all over Japan with Yuzan as he goes on and on about sweets. He eventually runs off to buy doughnuts leaving Shizuku to wonder how this could be her life. Yuzan returns and explains that his father kicked Haru out of the house before middle school. But now that Haru has started going to high school the father has changed his mind and wants Haru to quit school and return home. Yuzan has been sent to bring Haru come. Only Yuzan doesn’t want Haru to return home and wants Shizuku to help keep Haru in school. Yuzan flirts with Shizuku a bit but only because he noticed that Haru had arrived. Haru yells at Shizuku for being there and tries to drag her off. Shizuku forces Haru to stop and listen to what Yuzan has to say. Yuzan basically repeats what he told Shizuku. Haru gets upset and stomps away with Shizuku. Yuzan watches them leave and hopes that Shizuku can help Haru become….more human or else he will have to take Haru back home with him. Haru walks with Shizuku and his anger eventually melts away. He even talks a bit about his home life. Shizuku says that she will be sad if Haru left but if he really wants to go back home she wants him to be happy. Haru decides he is done with that mess and wants to be with Shizuku. There is some blushy moments and Haru trying to strangle Shizuku. Really romantic stuff. The next day at school Shizuku slowly realizes that Haru has changed her life and now she has friends. Asako tries to make fun of Shizuku but they both stop when Chizuru approaches Haru and thanks him for saving her on field day. Shizuku notices how blushy Chizuru is and that could spell bad news. THE END!!!!
Yeah me too buddy!
Um…..yes. I see. I see indeed. Slice of life/school romances tend to have…special moments in them. Meaning big to do issues about nothing. So I guess it is not too surprising how the Yuzan situation ended up. We gots to be dramatic folks! Even if the situation ends up being…well special.
As The World Turns in front of our school!
First off being a student at this school must be tons of fun. There is a random chicken on campus, people jumping in and out of windows, and love confessions where everyone can see. Sometimes it is fun to see the drama happen and not BE the drama. Sometimes I wish at work I could watch the drama happen instead of being a part of every single piece even on days when I am not even in the stupid store. Oh what was I saying? Yes. Being a student there must be fun as long as you don’t look at Haru wrong. Maybe they live in fear and don’t recognize the fun.
Maybe that is why she didn't pick up the phone.....
Shizuku not picking up the phone was so cold. So cold indeed. And boring. You really studied the entire summer? How boring can you be? Are you Amy from Sailor Moon? At some point the benefit of studying that much must fade away. Like your tiny little brain just melts into nothingness. So Shizuku deserves to be embarrassed in front of all her classmates because she hurt Haru’s little feelings. Of course his version of a first date is a little special….
....That is a lot of self learning.
I am glad that Haru’s talent in school has been explained. Three years of not going to school means you have tons of time to study. Which….sounds weird since you know…he wasn’t in school. The whole point of going to school is to learn yet Haru didn’t go school and kept on learning. I think I meant that to come out snarkier than it sounds. Just if I was going to skip something I wouldn’t stay home and do the same activity. What would be the point of that? XD But yeah Haru is not a super genius. Shizuku probably takes less comfort in the truth though. You will never catch up now poor girl.
Everyone I know is weird?! Does that make me weird too?!
Most of the rest of the episode was devoted to Yuzan and his weird relationship with Haru. Asako was sick at school but that didn’t seem to go anywhere. If anything it just highlighted what weird friends everyone seems to be. Like um no we don’t care about you please get away from us Ms. Cootie. I wish the chicken would make more of an appearance. Like it could fly into the classroom and attack people at random. That would be interesting.
Mr. Grinch!
While Haru was hiding from his brother he ran into Chizuru. Like literally. This time she seems to have found her voice and didn’t run away at the sight of Haru. Which is a vast improvement yes? I thought when he asked her for a favor she was going to pass out. But Haru was able to work some of his magic and his smile melted her heart. Although Chizuru worried me with the glasses get picked for class rep…bad news for me. OH WAIT I AM OLD NEVER MIND!
Quick time to escape!
I am surprised that Shizuku didn’t run away from Yuzan. While he was going on and on about foods and how they change with the season and snacks she could have made a break for it. And then I remember that Shizuku can’t run to save her life. Guess there was no escape. XD But while Yuzan was talking about food and snacks he almost seemed normal. Limited time food and cakes sound like fun. Can I move to Japan? OH WAIT THAT’S MY BROTHER!
Um say what?
The entire reason why Yuzan was there….the entire conflict was a mess and really unnecessary. Why would you kick your 12 year old kid out of the house? Isn’t that illegal? And when you changed your mind why would you force said kid to drop out of school when things are starting to look up? Was the father going to put Haru into a different school ? Because if so Yuzan should have said so. Instead it got all dramatic and confusing and pointless.
Was that in a joking manner...because I can't tell.
When Haru was talking later he seemed to have fond memories of his childhood. Yet he and Yuzan really can’t stand each other. X____X It sounds like the dad kicked out Haru so why is Yuzan the bad guy too? Yuzan doesn’t want Haru to return either. Maybe he was just putting on a brave front for Shizuku and he really misses his brother? Still Haru hiding and Yuzan being all deceptive and looking like the baddie…yeah all of that could have been avoided. Why didn’t Yuzan just approach Shizuku and explain the situation? Oh wait that wouldn’t be dramatic.
Um....that is not how you treat the person you like.
The aftermath of the kidnapping was interesting. I am glad that Haru came to rescue Shizuku. But he needs to stop grabbing her and being so rough. Dear lord that is not romantic. And then the whole you said you love me so do what I want…..special. But Shizuku at least was trying to help him out. At this point I am not sure why she is in love with him. He does have his moments but sometimes…sometimes he can be special. A little too special. That being said I don’t think he should go back home. The entire thing sounds iffy.
A wild sparkle rival has appeared!
Shizuku has slowly been changing ever since she met Haru. Now she has “friends”. She has started to do other things other than studying. But now that all might be threatened. A new girl has appeared. Chizuru has worked up enough courage to talk to Haru and she is sparkling all over the place because Haru smiled at her. Even though Haru and Shizuku have confessed to each other Shizuku has acknowledge she is capable of being jealous? What does this spell for our new little group? Probably trouble with a dash of WFT. XD
