But back to blogging. Blogging keeps me sane. And it is fun. Just me, my Code Red, and my computer. Bringing back memories of Japan because you know it was forever ago that I was there. XD
Day 19 was a very picture heavy day. Don't have many of those types of days left so please enjoy our trip to Asakusa.
One cannot go to Japan and escape the 438948 million temples and shrines. Makes me jealous that we don't have old structures here in the United States. But if one doesn't want to go to all the shrines and temples I think Senso-ji Temple should make anyone's short list.
Shopping is a very serious sport in Japan. One must buy souvenirs and such. However I think Senso-ji had the most shops out of any shrine and temple that we went to in Japan. It was crowded but not overwhelming. Created a nice atmosphere.
The Sky Tree was a tall presence no matter where we went today. In the morning it was cloudy and rainy so it was hidden. XD Which is really funny when you think about it. Or at least to me. One knows that the Sky Tree isn't tall enough to reach the clouds but that is what it looks like in the pictures.
People were very serious about getting their prayer on at this particular temple. We were respective foreigners staying out of people's way. But there were some other...whiteys as my husband so kindly put it making fools of themselves while we were there. Thanks for making us all look bad crazy people.
However everyone was having fun with the big lanterns. Pretending to lift them so they can look silly in the pictures.
We were not asked not to feed the pigeons yet here is a statue honoring the pigeons? I am sure this all makes sense.
Getting your shop on can be exhausting. Good thing you can walk five feet in Japan and find a restaurant.
A lot of the side streets around the temple were very old fashion. Not sure how much business they got but they really had a great atmosphere to them. Apparently atmosphere is the word of the day. XD
After the shrine we decided to walk around some. There is an amusement park nearby but it looked like something out of a horror movie. Like maybe it was fun 15 years ago but now it is a bit creepy. Also the amusement park was right near a building that had nothing but naked women on it. So yeah. Interesting area there.
So since we had some extra time we decided to take the hike to see the Sky Tree. It isn't finished yet but we wanted to see what had been done so far.
The Sky Tree is practically done from what I can see. It is the area around it that is not. There is going to be this huge building/structure at the base and nothing is there. So while the Sky Tree is close to being done I don't know when people are going to be allowed to go in it.
See we have to hide construction work in Japan. We must not see anything unfinished or surely our eyes would melt.
Now I think many people have seen a picture of this special....building. My husband hadn't because he is also special. But the golden poop is really supposed to be beer foam. Can't you see it?!
We had to take two subways to get to Asakusa and on the way back I was like....um there is Akihabara. So onward we went to spend money woohoo! This is the famous gachapon shop. it is off a side street so it is very, very easy to miss. And the building is small. But here you can buy as many plastic useless things as you need. Some people were being super hard core about getting the one they wanted too. XD
