Also I am going to blog this in an effort to cheer myself up. You see...I have just learned there is no mac and cheese OR code red in my house. A month in Japan and I return to no mac and cheese. Devastation folks. :(
Putting aside that I am a goober are you ready to experience Tokyo Disney?! Enjoy!
The time from Shinjuku to Tokyo Disney was about an hour so plan accordingly. Also when we got there 7 minutes after the park open the lines were massive. However there were about 14 ticket lines so it went rather fast considering how many people were there.
Also I am not sure how typical my Tokyo Disney experience was. I have heard horror stories about hours of waiting in lines and what not. But maybe the crowds have died down since the tsunami? I don't know considering the park seemed full to me but the longest we had to wait in line was for Winnie the Pooh (40 minutes). Needless to say we left happy and riding everything we waited to. Some lines had NO wait what so ever.
Tokyo Disney was having an event while we were there. And I love events as if gives a little more to the experience. But yes the Easter Wonderland event was going on while we were there. Weird since Easter was so long ago but it made the park really pretty.
Across the entire park were different easter eggs that were characters from different Disney shows/movies. We had so much fun searching for eggs and making sure we didn't miss any. Here are a few that we found that day.
Eggs near the entrance. It was crowded all day so the only time we could get a picture was when we were leaving. And dude when Disney closes it closes. They even want you out of the shops.
The center area near the castle was also very lovely. People were camping out here all day so we waited until night time to take pictures.
This picture is pretty funny. To save electricity the park was pretty dark when the sun went down (actually I am not sure how they got away with it safety wise). So we were wandering around and my husband decided to take a random picture of the tiki poles. Later that night I was all pouting because we didn't get a Stitch egg. Then later when we were looking at all the pictures behold we had Stitch! So he is a happy surprise indeed!
Now right after you get your ticket and you walk into the park there is the little area before you get to Main Street. At the Disney in Orlando most people just stop to take their picture in front of the garden thingy and move on. Here almost all of the characters were hanging out in the front. X__X You just walk in and BAM 10 characters are walking around.
Now that sounds pretty cool. The characters walking around the park all the time. However the characters did not have handlers (another safety no no). That means there was no line system and people were constantly pushing in front of you or throwing their kid in the front. It got really annoying at times. So we tried to stick to less popular characters or just be the first person in line regardless. Just be aware of that if you go to Tokyo Disney. Or just be more aggressive than me.
You didn't see a lot of ice cream stands in Tokyo Disney. They had churros but they were funky flavors. No no folks the real money was with the popcorn. Popcorn all over the place. And people (not just kids) were buying these special egg like buckets to put their popcorn in. So if you love popcorn you are going to get full at Disney.
The Winnie the Pooh ride was so much better than the one in Orlando. Well maybe it is different now as they were redoing it last time I was there but still. XD Loved this little ride.
Besides the Pinocchio ride there were a few other attractions Tokyo Disney had that the Orlando one didn't. Goofy had a house as well as the Chipmunks in Toon Town. Als there was an entire Roger Rabbit area complete with ride as well. They had a Micheal Jackson attraction as well as a different Monster's Inc type deal. Missing was the Stitch Show/Ride thing and the train.
After a few rides it was time the Easter Wonderland parade. Now the Japanese people line up hours before an event and seem happy to do so. They have their mats ready and their snacks on hand. We were on the other half of the park where the parade ended and we got a seat up front 1 minutes before the parade started. Mainly because it took 20 minutes for the parade to get to our section of the park but still. XD If you want a good seat and don't have dumb luck like we do maybe you want to show slightly early to things.
The parade stopped to do a little song and dance so the floats with Winnie the Pooh and Stitch got a lot of pictures from us. XD
Mickey started running around like a crazy person halfway through the parade. Also a note that most of this parade was in English. X__X
After the parade it was time for noms. We decided to go eat at the Queen of Hearts restaurant. I think the place was still pretty new and there was a line to get in.
The food was kinda pricey but it was the best meal I had the entire time I was in Japan. And the dessert was SO GOOD. I wish I lived in Tokyo so I could get a Disney pass and just eat there all the time. It was seriously that good folks. Highly recommended.
I am pretty sure the Toon Town in Orlando is either getting redone or taken away all together so it was nice to see this one. XD
We had a hard time leaving Toon Town and Fantasy Land because we were sticking around for the second parade. XO So many parades just for me? Again people were lined up forever before the parade started but I still got a seat in front so I am not sure how that all happened. But let's start this second parade off!
While the other parade had the theme of HAPPY EASTER this was more....every single Disney show ever?
Actually I don't know the theme of the second parade. The website says jubilation but really it was just all the movie/show scenes of all the different characters.
Even if the characters/movies were not really featured in the park they took part in the parade. So it was nice seeing all the "main" Disney people.
After all the parades it was time to watch some stuff in Japanese. XD But if you have seen the Philhar Magic show before it was the exact same deal. Only in Japanese. Ariel and Alladin sound very similar to their English counter parts while Goofy and Simba were a little X___X.
Now one really big difference between the Disney in Orlando and the one in Tokyo is the castle. This castle was really, really small. Like it was a normal building as ours is a giant THING were a stage can take place. But despite its small size it was still very pretty to look at and many people were taking pictures around here.
Another difference with their castle and ours was what was inside it. I am not sure what is in the Orlando castle (if anything) but inside this one was the tale of Cinderella. Basically it took the story of Cinderella and presented it in few rooms atop the castle. The different sections of the story were presented in different ways (painting, sculptures, ect) and ended in the royal room where you could see the glass slipper and sit in the royal throne. It was a pretty popular attraction with a line all day.
It told the story of Cinderella so everyone could understand without words. Not sure why the wait was so long though. X___X
Stitch's tiki room was pretty cute. And they had electronic devices for those who didn't speak English so don't miss it just because of the language barrier.
I don't know if it was Disney doing this or if the Japanese people really cared but Pirates of the Caribbean was everywhere, even outside of Disney. On food, on clothes, on jewelry, everywhere. So inside the park there was a strong pirate presence too. XD But since it really catered to pirate Stitch I was pretty happy.
The real electric parade was down for maintenance when we were there so we got a mini one instead. Since it was our third parade of the day we we really could not complain.
I think I have broken everyone's computer enough for now. I hope you enjoy my magical adventure into Tokyo Disney. There was much more that what was posted but those were the highlights for me. I truly recommend the new Queen of Heart's restaurant. Just beware that when Disney closes it CLOSES. Like get out you don't get to buy anything more. And that getting character pictures might be difficult.
OH Yes just like at Puroland the staff would take our camera so we could both be in the picture. None of this buy OUR pictures crap. So when we did get pictures it worked out great. Also not sure where those staffs came from when half the time the character seemed to be alone. X__X Now I am confused.
Anyway thanks for stopping by. Due to the fact we spend 13 hours at a theme park the next day was rather short. XD
