You probably don’t know me. But I know you. I know you very well.
Err Scratch that. Sounds a bit too much like SAW. And since SAW drives me crazy too we can’t be having that. The point is I have been a long time fan of your many works. I would buy the Japanese mangas of Card Captor Sakura because they weren’t out in America yet. I bought the 15 dollar VIZ X/1999 mangas because I was that hooked on your stories. My favorite couple of all time/forever/until the end of time will be Fai and Kurogane.
So why WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?! And by me I mean people like me. Your fans. Devoted fans. Devoted fans who are tired of being put through the ringer. X/1999 and Legal Drug on hiatus forever. Tsubasa ending with….err the main characters…you know. XXXholic having the worst/rushed ending ever.
Just why…WHY!!?!?!?

So what am I going on about now? One would probably think by now that I hate CLAMP. I am beginning to think that too. But I view CLAMP like my husband. He drives me the most crazy because I love him the most. And CLAMP is my favorite manga group thus when they do things that are X__X it really affects me.
Or maybe I am a crazy person because I compared my husband to a group of people I have never met. CLEARLY I AM THE INSANE ONE.
THINGS CANNOT END TOMORROW!!!
The reason I am so mad is because CLAMP obviously wanted to get rid of Kobato since XXXholic was dead and gone. Got to rush everything to make Gate 7 the best manga ever!!!! No really CLAMP. Stop doing this. You can’t create mangas that people love and devote tons of time to and decide oh…we are bored now time to move on and wrap things up as quickly as possible. We saw that with XXXholic. We got 43857 chapters of boring crap (cat virginity people!) and BAM it is over with great grandson Domeki sucking at life.
Things can't end yet EVERYONE STILL HAS THEIR EYES!!!!
Will this happen with Kobato? I am getting the feeling it will. We spent MONTHS (okay chapters) with Kobato going to see Okiura. Now she moves out of the apartment in ten seconds and everything is going to end tomorrow?! OKAY FOLKS! This will end well.
Oh chapter summary much? XD : Ioryogi was talking to his angel in Kobato’s body. But suddenly we SEE the angel (Suishou). Of course this doesn’t matter since Kobato and Suishou are identical but it still makes Ioryogi sad. Suishou says she was the one who did the reading on Okiura but really anyone could have seen what was going on. But Ioryogi knows that Suishou being able to come out means that the stopped time is moving now and that spells really bad stuff. Suishou just wants Kobato to be happy and Ioryogi tries to apologize for his actions in his own clumsy ways. THEN WE GET TO SEE IORYOGI!!!!!! XO After that amazing scene the messenger bunny is like HAHA Kobato has one day left. This obviously does not go over well. The next day Kobato greets Chitose warmly and talks about the nursery like things are going to be okay. Kobato thanks Chitose for everything and takes off with her suitcase. THE END!

But I will say I am happy that we got to see Ioryogi. Jury is still out on whether or not he is that dimension’s Fujimoto. In any manga sometimes characters all look alike. Or they can’t draw a great range of people. So it is hard to tell with a side view if that is Fujimoto or not. It would make me HAPPY if it was the same person/same soul deal. But at this point I should be happy they are even finishing this manga.
So yes folks. I am happy about that.
Getting romantic with a plushie...interesting.
And really I am happy that Suishou and Ioryogi got to have their moment. After all both have gone through they deserved to see each other again. Also the way things are going everyone is going to lose their eyeballs and be locked in a weird store for 100 years so this might be all we see folks. So Suishou got to see her man and Ioryogi tried to apologize for all he has done.
Plus it was sad and bittersweet. They got to see each other but it wasn’t really them and they couldn’t touch. And to be honest I am sure they didn’t know each other very well before the war and deaths. So….it is one of those loves that you just have and nothing much happens after the fact because one of the people dies and the other person turns into a plushie sent to help out the girl who looks like your dead angel. I am sure this happens all the time.
Wait what is going on?! WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!?!
The part I am NOT happy with is the fact that ending so soon. I have joked before that even if things ended soon it would still take a whole year for us to get the closing 10 arc chapters. But after this latest XXXholic stunt I am not so sure. Chitose, who has taken great care of Kobato, got a 5 second send off. Like HI BYE. So I am not putting it passed CLAMP if the whole Okiura and Sayaka issue is all taken care of in the next chapter, Kobato “dies” in the next, and somehow Fujimoto finds a reincarnated Kobato in the last. Meaning we could have 3 chapters left. THAT IS ALL FOLKS!
After all the build up with Okiura and Sayaka they deserve more than a few pages. And Fujimoto just now last chapter said Kobato isn’t gum at the bottom of his shoe. And the entire premise of this manga was Kobato had to gather the hearts of hurt people. She has like…7 pieces of candy. In the anime she was pretty much on her way and healing Fujimoto gave her the right amount to make the wish happen. But now she has 7 pieces of candy and it’s game over tomorrow.
If this manga ends with him being this universe's Kamui I may forgive CLAMP. MAYBE!
So in conclusion of a crazy post that has taken me hours to type because I am in deep denial this manga is going to end soon and it may turn out to be an XXXholic type situation. If things go EXACTLY the way it did the anime with the addition of Ioryogi and Suishou being happy I might be okay. But if this is done in less than 4 chapters things won’t be good folks.
I am going to rewatch Survivor now so I can laugh at stupid people. I need a good laugh right now. Please don’t kill my soul CLAMP!!

Great post (as always), and you captured my thoughts at the end perfectly. I loved the chapter up until the tomorrow crap. CLAMP, please let everyone have a happy ending! After Tsubasa and Holic, we NEED all of these couples to be happy! Because that, in turn, makes us happy. And we need more happy...
I'm not reading this manga, but I love Clamp's art. Just thought I'd put that out there since those Kobato clippets are so pretty.
Kay O.S.- If it has an XXXholic ending I will go insane. And by insane of course I mean fully support them in their future works and put money in their pockets because that is my definition of insane.
I would have enjoyed the chapter more if it wasn't OH BY THE WAY TOMORROW ENDS IT ALL. Then it puts a real damper on the entire chapter because you know it is going to be rushed and going to suck. But at least they didn't waste time with cat virginity...
Kobato needs to use her heart healing power to make EVERYONE including the casts of Tsubasa and XXXholic happy or I will scream. Really I will.
blindability- That is how they suck you in! I was like oh who is this cute emo boy surrounded by feather? Oh his name is Kamui and there is a creepy end of the world vibe going on? Let me check this out. And then like 12 years later you are blogging about how CLAMP drives you insane and are out to get you. XD
But these ladies can draw. They can't write an ending to save their lives (because they make things TOO AWESOME to solve) but they make decapitation and eye poking beautiful.
jeez dude, I really don't know what to think about all this "OMG gate7 is THE manga, let's end every single work we have going to develop a really awesome history which by the way it's not going to have a proper ending and everyone will turn to hate us!" deal.
xxxHolic left with me almost crying over such a lousy ending. Tsubasa left me with this "???" face going on.
...And now Kobato.
I was pretty amused about a plot wich APPARENTLY was way lighter than the others, I kinda saw it in the way I saw CCS years ago (happy cute ending and such).... BUT NOOOOO! WHY MAKE THINGS EASY WHEN YOU CAN GIVE IT AN EVIL TWIST WHICH WILL LET EVERYONE ANGRY AND CONFUSED ABOUT YOU?
Damn, I love them.
But cheer on, in THIS ONE DAY (Okiura day) we've already spent half a year, so who knows? maybe we still got another 6 months of Kobato going on.............. or another year if they decide to put Fujimoto's time on hiatus, him deciding that he will wait a hundred years just to see Kobato again.... ¬¬
I'm hoping that's not it. I got that feeling of "rushed ending" too, but somehow I refuse to believe that just yet. Perhaps its a twist or something.

Yuuko- The way XXXholic is the biggest WTF move CLAMP has done to date. That pisses me more than X/1999 and Legal Drug not ending AT ALL. Tsubasa I was like X__X but thought okay maybe XXXholic will explain all this crazy and all will be well. So if Kobato ends in three chapters I will be throwing stuff out windows.
And yes I thought that is manga was going to have a happier CCS feel to it. But obviously we were wrong.
But then CLAMP sucks us back in again and we are helpless to stop it.
I would be more hopefully about the next day lasting 6 more months but with Kobato just saying GOODBYE like that to Chitose I am not sure at this point. :(
luvcabefelu- I think all CLAMP fans try to deny the fact that they constantly screw us over. I too hope it is not a rushed ending but I am preparing myself so I am not overcome by RAGE. Just ANGER.
Maybe we should be thankful Clamp left Legal Drug unfinished before they ruin that too. xxxHolic started going downhill when Yuuko died and Watanuki took over as shopkeeper. All the dynamic between them that made the show worthwile, was gone. Yuuko just sparked, Watanuki couldn't hold a candle to her. I should have quit then. They build up this UST between Doumeki and Watanuki, build up a possible nice relationship between Watanuki and Himawari, and then let it all go to hell, copping out with a timeskip at the end because they felt the manga had gone on too long. I'm done with them, Tsubasa was borderline but this is just bad writing.
Starlitsea- I think my deep, obsessive, borderline craziness for Fai and Kurogane allowed me to forgive some of the major issues in Tsubasa. That and I thought we would eventually get things resolved in XXXholic. So really XXXholic ending in a hot mess was horrible for TWO mangas.
Domeki got screwed, the entire dynamic between the three high school students was destroyed, and Yuuko was a more believable shopkeeper. I don't think Watanuki could ever replace Yuuko, even after 100 years in the store.
So I am really walking on egg shells that Kobato gets a proper ending. You know, back when CLAMP made endings. There are TWO couples involved CLAMP. Please don't forget that.
Uh, I don't know how long ago you posted this opinion, but Kobato ended very well. There's a total of 6 volumes. One word I could describe this series is 'precious'.
It's true that many thought xxxHolic was rushed, but think of it this way: It gives CLAMP the opportunity of continuing the series, like they did with Tsubasa(which has a perfect bitter-sweet ending).
By the way, they restarted Legal Drug. The series is going to be reprinted and continued.

By the way, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle is, in my opinion, one of their greatest works.
I don't understand why people think there are major issues with Tsubasa. It had a perfect 'beginning', and a perfect 'ending'. But it didn't really end. Syaoran and Kuro-wanwan and Fai just might appear in future CLAMP works. That's the fun part of Tsubasa.
Anonymous- I think the end results are positive and I like that everyone got a happy ending. I do think though it could have been not so rushed. I think all the characters deserved a bit more than that. I think Kobato was ready to be all sad about Fujimoto not remembering her but it happened so instantaneously. No build up or anything.
I just think some parts of the plot took so long to hash out the ending should have gotten a few more pages.
With Tsubasa I am/was okay with how it ended because I thought XXXholic WOULD have them as cross over characters. But when then ended as a hot mess it made me a little sad. I doubt Gate 7 will have those characters so it does make me a little disappointed. Well maybe a little more than disappointed. But at least there was an end!!! XD
And who knows, CLAMP might always pick it up again in a different manga and all of my sad tears are for nothing. And Tsubasa got so popular and over the top I am sure writing ANY ending was driving them bonkers. So maybe a open ended ending is for the best.
XD Because yes Legal Drug is making a return in November. So if there is hope for that manga maybe XXXholic and Tsubasa are not down for the count just yet.
I've not read the manga yet.. and for some reason after reading ur POV, im glad that i didn't.
I did finish watching the Anime though. It was really fun to watch.. there were WTF moments none the less, but it kept me hooked till the end. I guess, it would be better off watching it 1st before reading the manga~~
Kathy- I think the anime and manga have slow parts to them. The anime has some fillery episodes while the manga had several plots going on that took FOREVER! I think I would have rated the manga much higher if the ending hadn't been so very, very rushed. It did a better job in explaining what happened to all the characters but it was smushed into a few pages. Perhaps if the creators of the anime had knowledge of the manga ending they could have portrayed that on screen in a more realistic way. But yes, the manga was pretty good until the end. For that reason alone I think the anime is a better piece of work.
I know it's been months since you posted this thing, but could you please, please, pretty please with a bazillion cherries on top, tell me where I can read Kobato? Preferably online. The very few websites that I can find are unfinished and have very important chapters missing! For example, every image you have in your post is completely new to me. I've been waiting for years to get through Kobato, forgot about, then realized it's finished, tried to read it, and become completely confused! (That probably makes no sense.) But yeah, if you get this and you can tell me where you were able to finish reading Kobato, I would be IMMENSELY grateful.
Ariel- Well I am a bit hesitate to answer this question. There was one site that had almost all the CLAMP scanlations up and I used that site exclusively. However the person running that site recently lost their damn mind and started using gay slurs. Oh and they decided they aren't scanning anymore so I guess there is no reason to support them anyway.

:( Anonymous- I have spent the last 20 minutes trying to hunt down ALL the chapters. Some sites seem to only have the first drops of each chapter. The site I went to for all the chapters has been shut down. Maybe someone else will comment and help us out but from what I have seen the "main" site for the chapters no longer has them as the manga is now licensed. :( I am sorry I couldn't help.
I know how you feel Christina, it really shatters my heart when the mangakas seem to rush their work like they dont really care for fans nor the manga/characters.
I really want the relationship between Ioryogi and Suishou.to decelop or perhaps a proper resolution betweeen the kindergarten teacher and the loan-man.it was really, really rushed :(
Dont get me started with Holic... I finished it in a week and it really really was a let down.... It was all so vague and left toovmany hole just like Kobato, it would have been better if the series was a neverending collection of stories rather than ending it abruptly.
I wanted to know more of Bear's past (Kobato) or that Ginsei guy...
It would make it seem like that the makers of Naruto are the ones that really are for the qualiy of their manga :(
Elli- I try not to be too negative about CLAMP but at times it is hard. Three major mangas in a row ended so fast, after a whole lot of build up. Especially Kobato with so much time devoted to smaller plot points. It was like someone told CLAMP oppies you need to end this manga in three chapters when really they have 12 more chapters planned.
I do wonder if the industry is to blame or if CLAMP is great at creating stories but bad at tying all the plot points together and ending the manga on a satisfying note. I mean...if Kobato used her wish to make a couple happy it would be nice to see the FRUITS of that wish. And poor Ioryogi. :( He needed a happy ending too.
