Eden of the East movie II: Paradise Lost

Photobucket

I think this sums up how I feel. And how everyone else feels too.

Okay Adam. I watched the second Eden of the East movie. And if you were waiting for a long in-depth explanation….well I guess I will wait in line after you because that ain’t going to happen in this blog. XD Sorry!

But yeah people. My face is a bit of X_X and a lot of @_@ and a tiny bit of *_*. Then my husband walked in the room and was like whoa my wife only has keyboard keys as eyes. So Eden of the East may be responsible for the downfall of my marriage. I mean do you want to be married to someone who has @@ for eyes? I wouldn’t!

So yeah people. Spoilers for people who….I don’t know, got the movie and understand what is going on?

Photobucket

Exactly people. If anything we must walk away from this series thinking about the poor NEETS and their sausage fest at sea.

SO PEOPLE! To review the series and both the movies: 11 (or 12 even though I think Mr. Outside was number 12) were given 10 billion yen to change the country. 1 of them died in the process but that is because he was a cheating pile of scum. In the end NONE OF THEM changed Japan and they all had their memories wiped except Akira because he erased his at the beginning of episode 1. Saki may never see Akira again as Akira and Mr. Outside are teaming up to change Japan. THE END!

So….what was the point to this series you ask? You are asking this because I said so! Also because I am thinking it and if I am thinking it other people are thinking it too.

Photobucket

Or Eden of the East was about confusing everyone. You decide.

In the end I THINK this series was about making the people of Japan think and take charge of their lives. That even if someone had all the money in the world they wouldn’t be a wealthy girl….err I mean they still wouldn’t have the power to change things. Well maybe if they had EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR/YEN/WHATEVER in the world. But 11 people had 118 million dollars and not one of them was able to change Japan. You would think with that kinda cash something awesome would have happened. But instead we got one really awesome hospital, a shopping mall, and almost 20,000 people got jobs. That is it.

Photobucket

Eden of the East: You lack the love story!

So the moral of the story has to be that if we (well really THEM the people of Japan) all work together change can happen. Change cannot happen if only 11 people are trying to push for change. People whine and complain about things all the time but make no steps to change anything. They think that alone their one voice means nothing. But if every single person got together they could force change to happen. And yes I intend to use the word change 118,000,000 times in this entry.

In the end all Akira could do was push people in the direction of change. Well and stop Mononobe from bringing back whatever it was he was trying to bring back. I am sure actual Japanese people knew what he was talking about but since I am dumb and fail at Japanese history I don’t. But whatever he was planning on bringing back was going to limit people’s freedom in Japan which is a great big no in my book. Well and to give him credit he did save all those people in episode 1. Mononobe’s plan to make a stronger government would have been stronger had there been some dead people under his belt that he could paint as sad victims and thus insist a stronger government would have prevented such a tragedy.

Photobucket

Well I guess all those people getting jobs is a really good thing...

But as a whole most of the Selecaos wasted their money on stupid crap. Even Akira could have saved himself a buttload of money had he said his final speech on a major news network instead of a massive phone call. People got their Juizs blown up for no reason. The one Selecao who managed to hoard all their money got it all taken away which is pretty funny. So again all Japan has to show for this effort is a super nice hospital and a mall. We the viewers, the players, and Saki’s crew know that so much more money went into the craziness that was this series but this is the result and the result is sad.

Photobucket

These two are allowed to be worse for the wear since they sent missiles to kill people!

Also the players themselves are worse for the wear in my opinion. They have a huge chunk of their life gone which will probably cause problems for years to come with business and their personal lives. I don’t care about the dude who died because he deserved it. And I guess it was okay that Mononobe and Yuuki probably died as Yuuki was crazy enough to send off more missiles and Mononobe forgot the message Akira sent so he be pushing for the government to take over still. But Akira still feels the need to help Japan out and will have to live his life on the run. One of them is in jail. Things are not good for these players.

WHO WAS THE RANDOM OLD LADY?!?!? XO I WANT TO KNOW WHICH NUMBER AND WHAT SHE DID!!!!

Photobucket

You deserve to be smacked in the head and so much more...

And what was up with them ALL winning? Explain to me how money hoarder won? Or crazy Yuuki? Or even Akira if you think about it? In the end Saki says that she sees no real change in Japan and I tend to agree with her. But maybe Mr. Outside was a crazy old man and wanted to simply see what 11 random cab riders would do with that much cash to change Japan. Maybe he isn’t applying morals to the situation and that there was no right way or wrong way to spend the money. Just the fact that they all (well mostly) fought hard and believed sincerely in their vision means they are all winners. Just like in Little League, everyone walks away with a trophy.

Photobucket

We find Mr. Outside...and none of it even matters.

Except the viewers of course. We walk away wondering what any of this meant. The movies didn’t feel like movies but episodes. Episodes we had to wait a long time for. And for American viewers a lot of the dramatic issues in this series was lost on us. We don’t know how Japan was after War World 2, how NEETS are treated in society, or how complacent Japanese people had become with their everyday lives. All those issues are important in understand what the hell is going on and we can never understand them. So from that aspect we are going to fail no matter what.

Photobucket

THIS IS ALL WE GET?!?!? XO

But I think another point where the movies fail is …..well HELLO Saki and Akira didn’t end up together! I mean it is only 6 months after Akira’s phone call to the entire country. There is still hope that they might get together once Akira is done pretending he can save the country. That might be never but since it is left up in the air we can’t say for sure that they won’t be a couple one day. But for now all we got is one kiss and the crazy fact they only spent 11 days together. It makes me sad and unsatisfied with the series.

Photobucket

And you suck. The end.

The whole Akira’s mother part of the movie made no sense at all to me given the fact a DNA test was going to be done ANYWAY! Didn’t Akira plan on Mrs. Wife saying okay time to prove who you really are strange boy? So I don’t know what any of that actually accomplished except make Saki sad that Akira had a shitty ass mom. I mean I guess in the end she thought she was helping by running away but since Akira admitted he wasn’t the Prime Minister’s son it looked like she was helping herself. Thus I am pissed off at the storyline.

Photobucket

Usually someone sending missiles to blow up cities lack love my dear Akira.

The fact that Eden group got screwed in the end was pretty sad too. This group worked really hard and helped saved the country and they were used as a scapegoat as Akira was nowhere to be found. It seems that they will eventually pick themselves out of this craziness and make the company better but it is still frustrating.

Photobucket

I think we all lost the game at this point...

So in conclusion….I don’t even know. A lot of things went over my head, like the significance of certain Selecao purchases or how everyone was like a million times smarter than me. Like seriously Pantsu how did you figure all that out?! But yeah so much stuff went over my head and left me going okay let’s just roll with it. I think that Eden of the East had a lot of diehard fans following it and now we are left with a wtf feeling.

Photobucket

Instead of being sad about not seeing Akira since that day...she is able to smile and know he is making life better for everyone.

However…no matter how disappointed I am or confused Akira as a character made me smile. He was very human to me. He erased his memories because he couldn’t deal with the pain of everyone hating on him. But then he stepped up and tried his hardest to protect everyone and be the leader that everyone needed. And when that didn’t work he became the terrorist everyone needed to hate and still works behind the scene to make the country better. So even if Japan isn’t better NOW it will be because of people like Akira.

So…this series was about hope. And confusion. Mostly confusion. But hope that the next generation will help shape our world to a better and kinder place.

And the dog was cute. The end.

Eden of the East movie: King of Eden

Photobucket

Shocked and...well just shocked.

Back when Eden of the East was airing everyone was pretty gunho about the two movies. Especially after the series ended after 11 episodes with a bit of a cliffhanger. Okay a lot of a cliff hanger.

But when movies premier in Japan it takes a little while for them to get on DVD. Logic. So many people who enjoyed the series thought OH it will be worth the wait and all these unaddressed issues will be addressed right?

Wrong. I might be alone in this opinion but I am pretty disappointed in the Eden of the East: King of Eden movie.

I was so disappointed I almost don’t want to blog about it now and wait for the 2nd movie to see how everything is going to end. Because this movie didn’t solve anything, brought up more issues, and felt like 3 episodes instead of a standalone movie.

This movie was only for those who watched the original series. If you didn’t you are going to be quite confused, more so than those who have watched the series. Not to say that those who have watched the series understood what was going on but it helps to at least know who the characters are while watching this movie.

The art was spot on as usually so no complaints there. Some people have actually been complaining that the art was too similar and should have been better given that it was a movie. Not understanding that train of thought, I rather the art be similar in the movie and the anime.

Photobucket

Rollin with the punches as usual.

Akira forgetting who he is again is a bit sad and frustrating but we knew at the end of episode 11 he erased his memories. Not sure WHY as it might be easier for him to become the King of Japan if he knew why he was being thrust into that position and he would be able to protect himself and Saki from the other Selecao who are out to get them. But despite him forgetting who he was Akira is still Akira. Maybe he is too quick to believe all the craziness going on around him but I like his personality. Makes me sad that he forgot about Saki though.

Photobucket

I'm armed and dangerous!

I don’t think Saki is as strong as she was in the anime. More wishy washy looking for my guy kind personality going on. I thought maybe her working in the industry of her dream would make her happier but of course she is more focused on Akira which makes sense. I think she is still in the dark about the whole Selecao issue thingy and I thought it was a really bad move of her to suggest to Akira to not be the King of Japan. His life is already in danger, might as well be the King while he is at it.

Photobucket

Juiz has more personality this time around.

I think the issue I had was….I had no idea what was going on in the entire movie. Why does Juiz think making Akira the Prime Minister’s illegitimate son would be a positive step towards becoming King? That just sounds like a plan of fail. Why did that Selecao go to great lengths to stalk Saki and Akira? Maybe he is a just a crazy person but I have no idea what his issue is. Why are the other Selecao’s (the kid and the ex-government official) so gunho on blowing up Japan? The way to save Japan is to blow up parts of it so people can be happy they survived and work together towards a better future? Dude didn’t they already do that?!

I am not sure how the Eden program was a big help towards to other Selecao’s plans or why erasing Akira’s past was going to destroy/help anyone. It was such a dramatic point of the movie and I don’t get it. I don’t get the entire movie but that might be because we have meet the more dangerous Selecaos and we aren’t meant to know as this movie is just Part One. I am not sure how many people are going to be around to care about Part Two but that is the way they chose to work things out. I personally think it would have been better to do back to back releases. Two cliffhangers in a row 6 months about is just bleh.

Photobucket

And these trailers are for...?

I think the most confusing thing about the movie was at the end where everyone’s trailers were getting blown up. What do the trailers have to do with the Selecaos being in the game or not? If they are so important to keep a secret why were they out in the open and so close together? It was totally bizarre and came out of nowhere. It seemed like an easy way to get some of the Selecaos out of the picture without them spending all their money. Please explain this issue before any others okay?

I do like that the Selecaos don’t really die when they run out of money. I was a bit sad at the thought that the doctor dying when he truly worked hard to make Japan better. But the issue of people losing their memories AGAIN is a bit much.

Photobucket

Remember where you came from and eat cheap food!

Pantsu has left the house and participates in the outside world! I love that he admonishes the others about forgetting their NEET roots. XD I mean, it is naturally to be upset at someone who leaving their past behind but the very nature of making it possible to be a NEET and do what you want in life will end in either being successful or being a basement dweller. You can’t be upset when people succeed right?

Photobucket

I am glad that Juiz is confused too. XD

I know that this post hasn’t been brimming with information but at this time I am just confused and wouldn’t be able to summarize this movie properly. It will probably make more sense when the second movie comes out. Since the second movie just came out this month I speculate in 4 months we shall have our answers. For now

I am disappointed, perplexed, and mad that my dumb Eevees apparently don’t have enough Friendship to evolve into what I want them to evolve into! So yeah…the movie could have been better but I will hold out hope that the 2nd movie will save everything.

So…I guess my recommendation is to wait until the second movie comes out and watch both of them at the same time! XD Yay for waiting!

Eden of the East Final Episode

X_x

x_X

x.X

Photobucket

Or maybe a forced smile too....

The many faces of Tenchi and her reaction to the ending of Eden of the East. The only thing keeping the X_x face from turning into -_________________- face is the promise of two movies in the works. If and only if these movies pick up where episode 11 ends and doesn’t go before the series started or flat out just repeats the entire series my X_x will turn into a XD face. But until then the x_x faces remain and for good reason.

Photobucket

:( This does not make me think yaoi thoughts.

So I came into this last episode waiting for certain things to happen. Akira was going to make himself the bad guy and warn the country of the bombs. He would appear as the villain but people would be warned of the impending doom. He would use the last of his money to save all of Japan. He is somehow killed through his heroic actions and Saki is one of the few people who knows the truth. Japan reforms after this horrible event and Akira “wins” the game so to speak.

Photobucket

If they had pants on they would be totally reasonable!

So the club members make it to a safe place in the mall and get in contact with Saki and Micchon. The club members warn the two girls to not come to this dangerous place but they insist on it. And Ohsugi keeps on being a brat about the whole Akira is a bad guy thing.

Photobucket

People are so ungrateful!

Then the moment of truth. Saki decides to tell us exactly what Mononobe told Akira last episode. And what she says is pretty much exactly what is to be expected. Back when Akira had his memories he found out about Yuki’s lame plan to get back at THE MAN. Akira gathered up all those 20k NEETS and they are the ones who saved the day. The NEETS used all their nerdy info to get supplies together and help coordinate a rescue effort. However the rescuees started to question why these saviors had prior information on said attacks. Also his fellow rescuers started to loot the would be bombed areas and started to suspect that Akira was up to no good. So he decided to convince these NEETS that he was bomber and they went WTF! Akira sends them to Dubai for three months and Akira erased his memories because he is so sad that everyone hates him.

Photobucket

Man down! MAN DOWN!

Exactly what we expected! So now Akira saves the day again and this time dies and there is significant change in Japan and we find out who Mr. Outside is! But not yet. First we have to see Ohsugi, club president, and the pudgy kid run around naked. But they are have good reason to. See, they left the laptop in the lounge and they must be among the naked masses that are the NEETS. Sissy doesn’t get to join in this fun as all the NEETS are boys. Sadness fills my heart.

Photobucket

He gave the laptop cooties!

So after they get the laptop Akira saves the day and Mr. Outside reveals who he is and we all go MOG right? Well not yet. We have to have some comedy scenes with the boys running around naked and poor Saki and Micchon have to cover their virgin eyes to not see any tan Johnnies. Oh and there is some more symbolic subtle not so subtle stuff about cell phones. After all is said and done club president and chubby are lost to the NEET crowd and Ohsugi gets the laptop back safely.

Photobucket

Ring tones are scary!

Before the dramatic ending can occur they analyze the information Panties left for our gang to find. Oh and Ohsugi puts on a jacket to cover his nakedness…instead of pants. But everyone ignores that as they realize they are boned. Before they can boo hoo about their impending doom everyone gets a phone call. And by everyone I mean all those NEETS and their broken down phones in that huge pile. It is Akira trying to convince everyone he is the bad guy again and that he is sending bombs all over Japan.

Photobucket

Can't he find a way to blame...someone else? Like oh..Mr. Outside?!

YES! Things are going according to plan. Saki starts being OH SADNESS about the situation as the NEETS get angry. Akira works everyone up into a frenzy and tells them all to go to the roof. We get a brief look at the three Selecao dudes. Mononobe leaves in a helicopter saying that he is going to find out where Mr. Outside is. Tsuji taunts Yuki, saying that he was totally played by Mononobe who could have been the Supporter and he leaves. Yuki is pissed off. The club members make it to an elevator but the naked NEETS try to break in. Akira has to come and kick a few in their faces.

Photobucket

This screenie looks more like abuse but I swear it was romantic!

Everyone is GASP it is Akira and I sense the ending better happen soon as time is ticking. There is a dramatic moment where Saki refuses to leave Akira’s side and yells at him for placing him in the villain role again. Instead of leaving her alone like he did on the train he takes her hand and they make it too the roof together. All of which is very dramatic as all the NEETs and club members make it up there.

Photobucket

Sit right there and watch my awesome plan!

THE MOMENT IS UPON US! Akira is going to unleash his mighty plan to stop the missiles and save Japan. Okay, he talks to the NEETS and gets them all upset again. Here comes the plan!!!! X_X Wait….his plan is to ask everyone else how to stop the missiles? X_X That is his mighty plan?

Photobucket

Err...okay.

Okay…so that really wasn’t what I was expecting. And the fact that all the NEETS came back to Japan seems like a plan after 3 months, not some new calculation that Akira came up with on the train. But okay. Sometimes great leaders have to rely on others to make it through. I mean, the president of a company is not always the smartest, just the one with a vision and seeks out those who can make his vision possible. So while it is not MOG amazing it’s fine. With all these NEETS around I am sure they will come up with a spectacular plan and Akira will run off to find Mr. Outside and all will be revealed!

Photobucket

That was expected....

….The plan is getting some jets to shoot down the missiles? Something that makes total sense and was expected? Something that even I could think of the top of my head? X_X Really, were all the NEETS needed for that idea? And WTF is up with this horrible song choice? It is making what is supposed to be a dramatic moment really lame. Okay so these NEETS aren’t really amazing. But now Akira can run and destroy Mr. Outside and punch him in the face!!!

Photobucket

Boys are special.

Or..or he can stand on top of the carousel and pretend to be the one firing the missiles like the dead detective did. Yeah and there is about 3 minutes left. Me thinks this is not going to end well. At least not end well for me.

Photobucket

Even Juiz is surprised.

WTF! King of Japan?! What the hell is going on?! He is going to use all his money up to become King of Japan since being a terrorist won’t be enough to cover this up. Forgetting the fact that those 20k NEETS know who he is…won’t he die? If he has used all this money up and he has yet to save Japan the Supporter is supposed to come and kill him. And just because you are elected (self appointed) King of a nation does not mean you automatically save it. Change takes time and well the Supporter isn’t really a kind person. So this plan is kinda made of fail. And random.

Photobucket

DO NOT LIKE!

MOG!!!! He made Juiz wipe his memories AGAIN?! And he gave Saki his phone? What the hell is going on?! Wouldn’t it be better if he had his memories from the…last week (X_X) so he knows what the hell he is up against and can better run a nation? Or better yet NOT DIE! Now he has a limited supply of people who really know what the Selecaos are. X_X And why would he put the phone in Saki’s pocket? Won’t that put her in danger? We need more answers.

Photobucket

This is seriously the end?!

THE SHOW IS OVER! Saki says some stuff about how now Akira is a Prince and it is on to the crazy ass theme song. That is all we get!

*takes a moment to gather her angry thoughts*

Considering how much this show has put us through with all the secrets, the Supporter, Mr. Outside, and all this Selecao crap you would think that we would be getting a more dramatic ending. I guess they think that letting Panties live is enough of a gift for us loyal viewers but I am not so sure about that.

Photobucket

Yay for not being dead XD

This show ends without any significant closure to any plots. Unless you count the dramatic ending of Saki and Akira’s relationship. That has been a huge let down for me in this series. I was expecting more out of those two and we really didn’t see much progress with their attraction to one another. The first few episodes were great with the blushy faces and Saki wanted to follow Akira around. But then her club members got involved and Akira began chasing down his past. Saki just became cute side dressing and I guess a reason for Akira to want to live.

Photobucket

Since we didn't get a kiss this will have to suffice.

But now he has pushed her away again and this time she might not be so forgiving. She was standing right there and he couldn’t tell her what was going on? He is a typical guy who feels that he has to protect the helpless girl so it is inevitable I suppose. But he really should have thrown that phone away instead of slipping it in her pocket. Unless he is giving her the burden to figure out this whole mess. In which case Akira sucks even more.

I think the Eden website was also a big letdown. I think the concept behind it was pretty amazing and I thought that it was going to play a big role in the last episode. Instead it was just used to have the NEETS spew ideas all over a forum so Juiz could pick the best one. They could have used any forum in the world so using the Eden one wasn’t really a big deal. But it did play a big part in the club members finding out that Akira was not really Akira. So while it wasn’t totally amazing it wasn’t a giant failure either.

Photobucket

WTF is on his head?!

The club members never really got to shine much either. I especially liked how the president was the least knowledgeable out of all of them. But since I just got done saying that a president of a company is one who can bring the best people together and doesn’t have to be the best one….I will just nod my head and smile. Sissy was useless most of the series as was the pudgy guy. But I really thought Micchon was cute and brought something special to the show. Ohsugi got on my nerves but I understand the thinking behind his madness. He made the most sense and I guess you have to have at least one friend who is a rational thinker and skeptic. But I am surprised he didn’t die.

Photobucket

What if INDEED!!!

The fate of the other Selecaos is left unknown that that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. We didn’t even get to meet most of them for goodness sake. Akira better be careful to not win the game too fast or all the other Selecaos will be hamburger meat really soon. Mononobe seem to expect Akira to be able to stop the missiles, as if it was a part of his plan. Yuki is pissed off he didn’t get to blow up Japan and get his revenge on people who made him…work for a living. Tsuji didn’t do anything interesting at all except point out that Yuki was a fool to trust Mononobe. And prostitute Selecao was…doing nothing. I think the show would have been better if all the Selecaos had be mentioned, even if it was revealed some had died before the start of the show. Too many things are left unanswered with this mysterious crew.

Photobucket

I often take pictures of impending doom.

I thought that with all the focus on cell phones we were going to get a massive lesson in how technology is running our lives. I think how cell phones were portrayed in this series is very accurate on how the youth of today depend on them. I was just expecting a moral message at the end about how we need to interact with our fellow man and not rely on such impersonal means of communication. But the last episode had cell phones saving the day so to speak with the NEETS texting in their ideas. So…lesson not learned.

Photobucket

No one knows what Mr. Outside looks like so have a picture of Akira being a cop instead.

Mr. Outside is still out there. We did have Mononobe explaining to Akira Mr. Outside’s reasons for all this mess but I wanted to hear it from that man himself. Or at least see the guy's dead body/grave. I wanted to see Akira punch him in the face. I wanted to see what kind of man thought blackmailing 12 people would help save Japan. I don’t think motivating people out of fear really works all that well but what do I know. I am not Mr. Outside and nor do I know him.

It is hard to write my final thoughts about this series as it might not be over. There are two scheduled movies coming out for this series and I can only hope all the things that I have voiced complaints about are explained then and there. It all depends on the kind of movies they are of course.

And I don’t want to end my blogging of Eden of the East on a sour note. Besides the last episode this series was really, really good. Saki and Akira had potential. The plot was complicated yet in a simple way. The art was great. The entire thing flowed well together. It just fell apart for me in this final episode. I rather see it as a cliffhanger for the movies to come instead of THE END. Because if this was the end..I would call this a fail. So I will wait and see if the movies make this series truly spectacular instead of WTF kind of ending was that?!

And wtf was up with the Johnnies?!?!?!?!

Photobucket

Still do not understand AT ALL!

Eden of the East Episode 10: Holy crap only one episode left?!

:( Even though this is only the second to last episode..it is still close enough to the end that I am feeling sad. It feels like this series just started and BAM now it's practically over.

Photobucket

One more week of this random closing theme song...

I think what is makes this ending sad (or disappointing) is that I think Eden of the East could have gone on much longer and had a really, REALLY complicated plot. At this point (is this spoilerish??) that we aren't even going to meet all the Selecaos. X_X It seems like this series is more like the OVA of a longer, more crazy anime.

Despite all that...this series is really good and episode 10 gives out a LOT of information, but not too much. Or it is too much in a good way. In any event it is a really enjoyable episode and all must watch it. Do it OR ELSE. XD

Photobucket

Never a liar, but always hiding the truth...

Micchon and Saki watch as Akira stays on the platform and they take off on the train. Saki makes a X_X face and reads messages Ohsugi left on her phone. Akira turns around and Selecao number One is behind him (the one who killed Panties). For the sake of making sense I will use their actual names (now that there is one whole episode left and all). Mononobe (number 1) questions Akira and finds out that Akira does not have his memories back and he has been acting out of confusion. Mononobe says he is going to go to a small city and end this game and that if Akira comes he can learn how to win the game too and the real reason behind erasing his memories. Akira goes to follow but Saki calls. She tells Akira she knows something is up with that phone and Akira is hiding things. Akira tells her he will leave the phone on while he travels with that man and if it turns out he is a bad guy he will be out of her life. The other Eden members are looking at the pile of phones and wondering if any of this has to do with the missing NEETS. They get an update on Micchon and Saki. Both Micchon and club president get a text message from Panties but the file is too big to handle over the phone.

Photobucket

Not really able to do much.....

Saki and Micchon then listen to Akira as he talks to Mononobe. They briefly talk about the NEETS. Most of the conversation focuses on who Mononobe thinks Mr. Outside is. Apparently he thinks Mr. Outside is a man who helped reform/remake Japan after it was bombed in World War Two. At first Mr. Outside was okay with how Japan turned out but over time he started to question if what he did was right. That is why he picked 12 people to try to change Japan, so that it would be fairer or whatever. Not that any of this matters because when the game first began Mr. Outside had cancer and Mononobe thinks he is dead. Mononobe’s plan is to become Mr. Outside himself and I guess save the others from dying. They land at a ATO building, the place that Mr. Outside used to run/own. Mononobe works here now and is pretty high up on the food chain. Yuuki (number 10) is waiting in the lobby and it is revealed he is the one who fired the missiles on Japan. Tsuji (number 2) is waiting inside and it is revealed that he hasn’t spent any of this money and just wants this all to end. Akira enters this futuristic weird room and talks about how he thought all the people answering the phone were different girls off in some secret place. But it turns out this futuristic room is Juiz as she is straight out of Eagle Eye and is a computer. Yuuki questions Mononobe and why he is telling Akira all this. Mononobe says that Akira was chosen to be one of the 12 and has a right to know before the rest of the world. Yuuki speaks up and explains his reasons for firing the missiles. He had been used and abused by the system and he would never have a chance to move up in society. Angered by THE MAN the missiles were Yuuki’s way of getting back. Mononobe also agrees with this method as it gets rid of the elderly people stuck in their ways and the useless people of society (apparently the NEETS).

Photobucket

It is FABulous!

Akira declares this whole thing stupid and Yuuki smiles, saying that he said that before when he saved the people near the missile site. Mononobe starts to explain that the people who were helping him and the people who were helped both betrayed him. The rest of the Eden members get Panties’ information and they pour over the entry logs. For some reason only Yuuki’s data is in red. Before the group can put the pieces together a cargo ship arrives…with the 20k naked NEETS. They swarm on the place and group runs before they can figure out what the hell is going on. Akira has apparently learned the truth behind his memory erasing reason as he looks sad. Saki collapses to the ground and thinks she is just as bad, as she wanted something bigger than Careless Monday to happen. Yuuki wonders if it is okay to let Akira go since they do not have full control of the system. Mononobe thinks that it will be fine and that Akira’s attempt to stop them won’t work anyway. Earlier Mononobe had ordered champagne. It arrives…and the bottle is empty. The woman runs out of the room leaving some cryptic message. Number 12 used their money to move Juiz and this shocks the three men. They think that number 12 is either the Supporter or Mr. Outside now. Akira is riding on top of a freight train, in the cold and looking depressed. The end!

Akira needs a hug! And hot chocolate.

Holy crap. X_X This series is going to end in one episode. I thought that the studio was keeping things under wrap and were going to go SURPRISE and we would get 11 more episodes. But that is a big fat nope. Especially after how this episode went down.

Don't I look trustworthy?!

I was a little bit confused about Mononobe. Or confused how a person could be like Mononobe. I couldn’t imagine killing someone and then the next minute talking rationale to another human being. I would be a huge wreck or….a cackling psychopath in the corner. But maybe Mononobe is a psychopath and he does believe what he is doing is right and thus he does not feel guilty.

Let me tell you more than what Panties was going to tell you.....

That and I am still confused on WHY he killed Panties. Panties was going to go and tell Akira what was going on behind the missiles and stuff. So it is understandable that Mononobe would kill Panties to keep that information a secret. But then he went and told Akira himself. X_X What sense does that make? It just seems like a senseless death and crazy. Also Mononobe is not helping improve the nation by killing the person who supports the Selecao who is saved people. Err, I am sure that sentence made sense.

Like a crazy old man who picked crazy people to play his game...

But Mononobe does give Akira a lot of information. Like on who he thinks Mr. Outside is. Not sure if Mr. Outside is really that person but I am impressed that Mononobe figured out that part of the puzzle. And I am a bit disappointed that Mr. Outside could be dead. I want there to be an epic showdown where everything is explained and we learn what it is like to be in the mind of a crazy person. It loses a little bit of something when Akira and the others can’t get back at Mr. Outside for putting their lives in danger. But apparently there are enough crazy Selecaos to go around and maybe Mr. Outside really isn’t needed. But I am still sad.

That and I am only 25...guess I really won't understand just how different that world is from mine.

More of the show is lost upon the Western world with this episode. I am sure I would be able to understand how Japan was restored after World War II if I was Japanese. But since I am from the country that bombed Japan…yeah, I can’t. I am not sure how much the youth of today are affected by War World II but the point still applies. The point is Japan changed after the war and that is connected to the show now. That part of the show will not be fully understood to outsiders and I am going to accept that.

Why are you always leaving me behind?!

The Saki and Akira relationship has really, really taken a back seat lately. Now we have Saki just listening in on phone conversations and feeling upset about the situation. No real interaction at all. I guess it is sweet that Akira is naive enough to let Saki listen in and leave him when things get hairy but still…I wanted them to actually talk more and be together more. But at least Saki was honest with Akira and isn’t hiding the fact that people mistrust him. That is bonus points.

Yeah. That guy. This emo kid tried to kill a whole lot of people. Fear him....or not.

So we found out the reason behind Careless Monday and all the missiles that hit Japan. X_X It is the master plan of a 20 something year old who is mad he had to work dead end jobs to support his family. For some reason I thought the reasoning was going to be…grander, for the greater good. That is what Mononobe was trying to spin it to be but Yuuki’s reasoning was not so “noble”. It left me going…really? X.X I am not sure how to explain it. I thought all along the missiles were meant to scare people into living life to its fullest and not taking for granted what is out there. You know, apparently that whole Watchman movie and what not. Focus on how to beat the terrorist and ban together. But really…it was just some kid who had to work for THE MAN and wanted to get back at THE MAN. Makes me wonder why Mr. Outside picked these people.

Juiz is so sparkly and...red.

Juiz is a computer. I am shocked and amazed. But not really. I am surprised that Mononobe knows the location of Juiz and that she is not more protected from you know…being destroyed or changed. And also this completely looked like Eagle Eye and then Akira mentioning all these American movies and my mind almost exploded. I am not sure how Mononobe made it so that Akira couldn’t stop them using Juiz but none of that matters as Juiz is safe.

:( Thanks for making us both sad.

I would like to personally stab the writers/creators for holding out on the details about Akira’s mind erasing episode. I love how they jump around and show what everyone else is doing and BAM the answer has already been given. And apparently it has something to do with Akira getting his feelings hurt over the people helping him not being grateful? I really, really hope it is something bigger, like somehow everything was going to be linked to him and would be like that person in Watchmen (I keep mentioning that movie but I never saw it…). I am just hoping the last episode (err, next week) really explains that Akira forced himself to forget his past in a Death Note kinda way so he wins the game and saves everyone!

Save the puppy!!!

Things are really coming to ahead now. We got 20k naked NEETS running around, distracting the Eden group long enough to hinder them from finding out the real truth (until next week of course). More missiles are set to explode Japan within 8 hours and apparently Akira won’t be able to save the day this time. And the Supporter has been found out and is trying to help Akira save people? Next week’s episode better be good and explain all these lovely facts..or else. Yeah, that’s it. OR ELSE!

Why are all the NEETS males? And naked?
