Duffy the Disney Bear Adventures: Sharknado 2 with Fin!

 photo DuffySharknado001_zpsa0634843.jpg
This doesn't feel like a plushie...
Mom loves watching Sci-Fi movies. Or Syfy. I think they changed names or something. Dad thinks...these movies are special to say the least. I think they are special too! I mean two headed sharks and sharks that can fly in the sky and take down planes. It is like anime but in real life. Mom got all pumped to watch this new movie called Sharknado 2: The second one so I put on something...a bit themed I guess for the event. The name of the movie is a bit boring so I hope the movie isn't.
 photo DuffySharknado005_zpsca7fcba1.jpg
Mom went to Adventure Landing for Muffy's mothers birthday and she earned enough tickets for this plastic shark. She named him Fin and Kira does not like him at all. He squeaks and she runs for the hills. :( Poor Fin, I will be your friend.
 photo DuffySharknado002_zps87121d2e.jpg
It was sorta hard for Mom to take pictures. The sharks were flying very fast and the blood was WHOOSHING all over the place.
 photo DuffySharknado003_zps70e5f0ef.jpg
Basically the movie was about sharks in a tornado and the main character Fin (hey he matches Mom's new shark) was trying to stop it. And no one else was really worried about the tornadoes or sharks as they were walking around the streets like nothing was happening at all.

I think Dad was right, this is a special movie. X___X

Catching Fire Tenchi Review

Happy Hunger Games everyone. And may the odds be ever in your favor. Well except if your name is Peeta. Or Katniss. Or the other 22 Victors in the 3rd Quarter Quell. Really anyone in District 12 or any of the Districts....
 photo catchingfire_zpsdeadb483.jpg
How will all the people in this picture fare in the second movie?
So yes. The second movie in the Hunger Games trilogy (oh wait, gotta milk the franchise more, make Mockingjay 2 parts!) has come to theater. And so far it looks like it is blowing all the competition out of the water. Take that Thor. When the Hunger Games came to theater last year I researched the movie a bit before I went to see it. Immediately after said movie we ran to the bookstore and bought all three books in a 24 hour period the next chance I got and the rest was history. Slowing waiting for the next movie, picking apart the last movie, and trying to find out any info/pics before Catching Fire came out. Oh and the fanfics. So many fanfics. So much wasted time...sorry anime blog.

Well after a minor set back (thanks food poisoning) and battling rude movie neighbors (why do people have to talk the entire time?!) we have finally seen Catching Fire. Rejoice the world, there will always be horrible ways to torture and maim people. So what is the Tenchi verdict?

Well...I don't know. Catching Fire was better than the Hunger Games. Well at least maybe visually anyway. But is that fair because the arena was so much more grand in the second book anyway? I went into the first movie not knowing about the book but now I can see how things were skipped over. A lot was skipped over for the second one as well (which I will cover) but at the core the message was there. I mean at the end of the first movie nonbook readers didn't KNOW that Katniss was not in love with Peeta. Kinda a big deal. This movie felt much more dire when things were supposed to be bad in the first. I don't know, I just know the second one was better.
 photo catchingfire7_zpsaa602867.jpg
Where was this Finnick in the arena?!
The thing that bothered me the most about the movie was Finnick. Almost all about him and his scenes. I think the actress playing Katniss is too tall and imposing to be Katniss but (at times) she played Katniss how Katniss would be. The actor who played Finnick was...not Finnick. I don't think he was handsome enough. That might sound vain for me to stay but in the book it is like Finnick is Adonis. People in the Capital are tripping over themselves to sleep with him. The man playing Finnick is cute yes but not...Capital sex god. Perhaps it was all too much to live up to. However there was not enough Finnick The scene with the sugar cubes was almost a check list scene. Like got the sugar cubes, check. Like the real meaning of the scene was lost since it was forced. I know scenes were cut but this one almost played out in full and it was off. Finnick in the arena was almost robotic, borderline...something. Not evil but you know. I mean the Finnick that everyone knows and loves would not say cannons are music to his ears, even if it was for the cameras. I did like the glance after Peeta was brought back to life but...unforgivable Finnick didn't cry after Mag's death. How hard would it have been to add Katniss taking watch and having her hear Finnick cry? Him saying that Mags didn't have a chance and not following it up with his real feelings....it made Finnick look cold hearted. He didn't have time to shine.
 photo catchingfire6_zpsecc60b67.jpg
Oh Katniss is having a bad day? Poor Katniss. GET IN LINE!
Johanna on the other hand was shining all over the place. She didn't get the memo she was a sidekick and not the actual Mockingjay. I thought her Caesar interview was way too in your face when I saw it. Then when I thought about it later....if other things were going get cut adding that in there made sense. Perhaps a bit more subtle after the Jabberjays as her simple message in the book was enough. I don't think anyone walked away confused on Johanna though. It was clear she was annoyed at this whole thing but went out of her way to help Katniss. While I thought it made no sense to have Johanna and Katniss alone backstage it set the tone well. Katniss thought all the Victors were crazy, especially after the elevator scene (MOG Katniss' face) but Johanna reminded Katniss who the real enemy was again.
 photo catchingfire4_zps659376d4.jpg
We are a team.
Another super positive in the movie was Effie. Don't ask me why we got one less stylist (any clue?) but 2 and Effie were enough to get the point home. Like okay you thought the Capital was bad before, welcome to crazy town. Effie just smiling away despite riots in the street and people getting shot. But not getting greeted by warm party people at the train station, the nerve! So clearly Effie and most of the citizens of the Capital are harmless yet...well brainless. It wasn't until the Quarter Quell tributes were revealed that Effie started to realizes how bad things were. Well sorta. It was still about the Capital. How they felt losing THEIR Victors. But Effie showed how (in added scene) how cracks were forming. That maybe tributes are people...so good job Snow. Instead of putting out the fire you turned on some light bulbs in the Capital's otherwise empty heads. The scene where Effie pulled out Haymitch 's name...her face of OH they can still be together and then when Peeta volunteered...sadness but back to perky because they are on camera.
 photo catchingfire8_zps2bb7b7b7.jpg
I think that the trailers showed way too much though. Katniss' speech to Rue's family before this wasn't spoiled though so yay?
Another positive like I said before was the actual scenes. Makes the Hunger Games look like a student project. But almost all deaths in the Hunger Games.....wait all deaths were tribute related (well maybe not Thresh). This arena was meant to wow. 75th anniversary, dead Victors, no expense too grand. But since the first Hunger Games movie was successful they spent a lot more money on other things. District 12 actually has people. District 11 was beyond out of the book with being more grand and awful. Everyone was looking tore up that needed to and everyone that needed to look strange and colorful did. Why they even sprang for some hovercrafts to pick up the bodies. It was a visually appealing movie which sometimes that gets confused with a good movie.
 photo catchingfire2_zps656d6bf7.jpg
Everyone is rooting for you Peeta. Well at least Katniss. I guess everyone else is rooting for the other one. XD
So do I think it was a good movie? Obviously since I ready the books I can't help but compare the two. I try to separate the two and just focus on did this movie make sense on it's own? I think it gets a solid 4 out of 5 Tenchi Stars. Major points were made, some smaller points were covered, and necessary cuts were made. If I were just watching the movie though I think I would still have questions. Does Katniss like Gale more? It seems like it to me. Then why does she want to die to save Peeta? Peeta is a good person but why would Katniss want to die for him? Why was Peeta telling the Morpling to look at the pretty colors when she was dying? How do nasty blisters that nearly kill you magically poof away and leave no scars? Why didn't the Capital shoot down the hovercraft that saved Katniss, Beetee, and Finnick? To me it feels like more was filmed for this movie and then things were taken out that would have explained that. Especially Katniss dying for Peeta. What about her family?
 photo catchingfire5_zpsc7fea383.jpg
What pocket watch?
Now if I were to incorporate the book...well where to begin? And yes I know not EVERYTHING from the book can be in the movie without it being Lord of the Rings forever. So I am not crying tears about everything. I don't like how Katniss got the pin in the first movie so obviously there was no real reason to show Haymitch's games and what not. The Avox situation just added another layer to the suck factor but it wasn't necessary. There was enough suck without it. Twill and Bonnie ...I always that was a bit farfetched anyway so them cutting that made sense along with the locked out of 12 scene.
 photo catchingfire3_zps7b35add5.jpg
Katniss is having a baby. Everyone scream and never mention it again.
But some scenes....were needed. Um hello so Peeta can paint now? I know he can frost a mean cake and make his arm look like mud but now we got Rue on the ground? Where are all the painting he did? I wanted vivid nightmares, not just waking up screaming. Without internal dialogue I can see how Rue's sister glaring might be hard to pull off but figure it out. I didn't like the Plutarch and Katniss scene. She was way too aggressive and open. The pocket watch was subtle and super low key. Once again not all the Hunger Games was..hard. Katniss knows what a spile is in 5 seconds. Peeta can swim. Peeta has two legs. Suddenly Peeta can use a sword. Suddenly we are escaping the arena without knowing WHAT TIME the rescue is. The Capital is not made of chumps. This was hard to pull off so make it look like it took effort. Um what about the baby? Again a check list scene. That comment was thrown away and never mentioned again. Also hello what about their scores? They are running around pissing people off and we aren't going to see their scores and how angry it made Haymitch?! I am sure there is more that was cut but that seems to cover it. Well there is the lack of Mag's death dance....

I do like some stuff that they added from the book. I think the first kiss between Gale and Katniss was....odd and out of nowhere but the third was done well. It could mean so many things. I loved the families standing up the picture of the fallen tributes instead of a busted down pen. Snow's granddaughter was almost a glimmer of hope that the world isn't sick...and how confused the Capital is. I like how Snow was personally watching the games, really showing how involved he is/worried. Since there is no Madge I like how Katniss saw the riots on the screen. I mean they are traveling on a train, Peacekeepers need to know what is going on around them.

Overall I liked the movie despite any critics I might have written. When you have high expectations going into something of course you are going to have an opinion on the matter. Movies are not books or we would still be on the Lord of the Rings Two Towers. XD Especially books with inner character dialogue, told from one point of view, and unreliable because she is crazy. I thought the actress that played Katniss really stepped up, especially in the District 11, dead Peeta, and Haymitch is a liar scenes. Apparently 40 minutes of the movie is on the cutting room floor so maybe when the movie comes out on DVD most of my complaints will be pacified. So yes. The movie was 4 out of 5 Tenchi Stars and it was worth attempting to see it twice. But Peeta has one leg folks. One leg.

On a side note the husband had a frowning face at the end of the movie.. He said why would you end a movie that way?! Wonder what he will think about how Mockingjay part 1's ending haha.....

Sharknado: Every single Syfy movie ever combined. Minus the tank tops.

I might be a little late to the game but then again all of my other posts have been....on time challenged so to speak. So yeah. We will go with that and with the fact some of the hype has died down. Wouldn't want to be following the trends or anything.
 photo sharknado6_zps762d1bb8.jpg
.....But the sharks aren't giants? Not super big?!
What trend you say? Well a couple of weeks ago there was a movie on Sci-fi. There are usually lots of movies on Sci-fi. One new one a week actually (new for real or new to their station is another story). This movie...Sharknado. And apparently it has taken a spot in pop culture. At least for a while. Until the next cute baby animal or human jackass clip.
 photo sharknado_zpsb06f6757.jpg
Flying high in the sky...it must be sharks.
My friend and I ...we would have sorta date nights on Saturday. I rushed home from the pizza place so we could watch the Sci-fi movie of the week. Oh the stories we could tell. So many awful movies, so little time. But then a bran new show decided it would get ALL of Saturday. Like what the hell?! Earn your spot!!! Go to Fridays. But yes Sci-fi Saturdays have changed to Sci-fi Thursdays and my brain has yet to catch up with this change. What I am saying is when Sharknado first aired...I forgot. I came home from work and vegged out. My friend forgot as well so we went without. Only the next day when it was the talk of the internet did I realize HMMMM what is this madness? It was on ONDEMAND for free which should have let me know something.....

Let me start this off by saying.....I am sorta....well I am not sure the word. Jealous isn't right and neither is mad. But it's a odd feeling when you like something that only a small group of people like and POOF it becomes popular. Like hey get off my hobby! I mean...it does make your interest better known which could lead to more of that thing. But then there is a chance of it becoming too popular and diluted and people throw it away, moving on to the next popular thing, leaving your interest and maybe even due due to lack of popularity. (deep breath) So yeah...Sharknado...there have been many movies similar to it. Why ya'll noticing now?
 photo sharknado3_zps976e8056.jpg
Swallowing two people whole yo!
That being said...this movie was one of the worst Sci-fi movies I have ever seen. And I have seen a lot. A lot! Movies that have 3 dollar budgets, cheesy effects, actors who must have been walking down the street when the movie was being cast. This goes without saying that the plots ore thin and explosions are too grand. I am used to all of this. But Sharknado seemed to look at all of these things and say...I can do worse. I can be the best of the worse. I will show all these other shows what worse looks like. Except with the acting. While cheesy everyone did their best with this trainwreck. Besides Tara Reid and her 5 second boyfriend.

The most bothersome thing about this movie was how little effort when into filming it. Not the special effects might you. I am talking about the real life filming. There is supposed to be this giant storm that produced a super tornado which is large enough and strong enough to pick up sharks. Hundreds of sharks. Perhaps...perhaps....it could look like it was raining outside? I mean asking for actual rain might be silly. But maybe film the movie on an overcast day? Or have stock footage of a rainy day. Just like the other stock footage people used. Just...it sorta takes away from the danger when you see bright skies. Like um what weather disaster? Also in regards to filming....maybe when a giant disaster is affecting the city maybe regular folks can GTFO? But I am sure that would involve getting permits and suck. No no, just film on the bridge rescuing children while other cars drive on by. So believable.
 photo sharknedo3_zps92636664.jpg
But the car DOWNHILL is fine folks. No water at all.
Another super believable part of the movie is the water. I won't go into the fact that sharks were attacking people out of the water, although it would have been nice to have some explanation on why they were so aggressive. But um....basic classes in elementary school would be nice. A lot of Sci-fi movies seem to suffer from understanding water depths. But this movie took it to a new level of crazy. The characters walked down a path, freeing people from their cars. Yet there wasn't enough water for a puddle, let alone a shark to swim up. An entire first floor of a house flooded. Yet it would be nice and dry outside when they reached the car DOWNHILL! Thus would require the staff to be in waist deep water for most of the movie but yes. Sharks need water to swim. Don't get me started on this magical car that can move through water.
 photo sharknedo2_zpsb4718b44.jpg
Good thing in this bad weather Tara Reid has the perfect make-up on.
Tara Reid was the worse part of this movie. Why did she get first billing? If I was Mr. 90210 I would be pissed. He was the main character. As was the waitress chick. Tara Reid was awful as well as her character. Go away with your stripper? Don't worry about us and the kids. Wait only worry about your adult child and not this entire bus full of kids because that makes you a selfish and bad person and that is why I left you! Just shut up and die. The boyfriend was plastic but he died 5 minutes later so who cares? The daughter...so special. There are sharks with lazer beams...okay not lazer beams....there are sharks in a tornado during a huge storm. Now is not the time to be crying about your daddy issues. Like seriously!
 photo sharknado32_zps583e99a9.jpg
I shall focus on eating this human than staying alive.
There were other things about the movie, things that would be in other Sci-fi movies and be eye rolling too. Like a shark jumped and swallowed a person live. And then another one. Is this Super Shark because um I don't think they get that big. A shark falls on the roof of a car and the car doesn't...break. Instead the stranded water based creature decided to eat the people in the car that he didn't know were in there because he is a shark. Little things like that. Fun to snark. Snarking the shark that should be smashed on the ground falling from such a height but instead finds the time to much on someone's arm. Oh and the “bad guy” in the tornado being...attacked by the sharks? Amazing.

So in conclusion.....there has always been bad Sci-fi movies. Always. Why Sharknado took off like this and got replayed 5 times I don't know. Was it just so super bad, so super out there people had to notice? Being so close to shark week and people got interested? Maybe others are finding joy in crappy Sci-fi movies, to snark at them? I don't know. But there will be a Sharknado Two. This time with a budget of 15 dollars! Hopefully no Tara Reid. Sharks in the subway woohoo!

Duffy the Disney Bear Adventures: Monsters University Fun!

Poor Duffy! During my three weeks as a sad panda he was slightly neglected. Just sitting sadly on the couch, no love for him. Hey I wasn't going on adventures either! But now that I might have a new job (I think I will say actual new job when I am there for a month...) it was time to go out and celebrate. And take the Duffy along for some fun.
 photo Duffy001_zps89353318.jpg
Do you like my new shirt from Build a Bear? The jacket was too big though...
So where did Duffy finally get to go? Why to see Monsters University! Disney/Pixar have been advertising all over the place so it was hard to miss it. Duffy had lots to do to get ready for this movie date though.
 photo Duffy002_zpsb03cb19c.jpg
These are my new little friends. One is squishy and one is like a figurine. Monsters, Inc. was coming on TV on day so Mom got us all set up to watch it. So we would know what wasn't going on in the prequel. XD
 photo Duffy003_zpsaf6860cc.jpg
The big TV worked. But the small one is good enough for me.
 photo Duffy004_zps28978b6b.jpg
Some of these monsters seem scary. But mom says that when we go to Disney in August I will get Sulley. Like A blue fur suit. Great for Florida weeee!
 photo Duffy016_zps4118a00b.jpg
Maybe I should read up on what this movie is about before we go and see it.
 photo Duffy017_zpsf20fc8c3.jpg
HMMM! These monsters seem to be serious business. Mom gets scared when dad screams boo. Will she be okay with this movie?
 photo Duffy005_zps69b8196e.jpg
It is finally the day of the movie! Dad took us to the mall first to look around. We always go to the Disney Store on our adventures.
 photo Duffy006_zpsa98749d1.jpg
So many plushies. But I'm your favorite right mom?
 photo Duffy007_zpsbf70501f.jpg
Go team go!!!
 photo Duffy008_zpscd05d9d3.jpg
We saw this at Epcot, with the flowers!!!! I can honorary go to college?
 photo Duffy009_zpsb38e90e0.jpg
At the movie theater. There was a little photo-op, probably done just for me. XD Sulley is huge....makes me and Mike look tiny.
 photo Duffy010_zps8726bc6e.jpg
While Dad was getting snacks mom took me around the theater to take pictures. Planes? Is that like Cars? Copy faces!!!!!
 photo Duffy011_zps4f03f2f3.jpg
Scruffy's owner and Muffy's mom didn't come to the movies with us this time but I think they will when we go to see this movie. Can I have a minion shirt?
 photo Duffy012_zps2c545bac.jpg
We can't think about minions now though. It is time to see this movie! Then minions. Then poof we will be at Disney yes?
 photo Duffy013_zpsc9ce9d33.jpg
Second people in line weeee! Dad likes to get certain seats in the theater. XD Mom has trouble getting...well anywhere on time. Silly mom.
 photo Duffy015_zpsfc38ba61.jpg
Finally time to sit down and watch the movie. My what a big drink you have!!!!! It's a bit dark but of course it is a movie theater. If you haven't seen this movie maybe you should. Everyone in my family loved it. XD

Total Recall: Totally Scarred for Life

My husband and I don’t have many days off together. Me being in the food industry and him being in the military means we get hours together in a day. We usually get Sundays totally free to do what we want but other than that it is holidays or us taking days off to get 24 hours of togetherness. For some reason this Labor Day my boss decided that he wanted to take the day off to do something he wanted to do thus closed the store. We were free! Free for the day!
Photobucket
Time to compare woohoo!
The husband and I took advantage of our day together and had a fun day of mini golf and shopping. We had some filling noms and bounced ourselves to the nearest movie theater to see Total Recall. After watching the movie the husband realized how greatly this 2012 movie differed from the original. Since I had not seen the original I was like oh okay but I heard there was Mars? Where was Mars? The husband immediately decided that the date day was not over and quickly procured a copy of the original Total Recall. Cuddled up on the couch we watched this original movie.

I still haven’t forgiven him. Warning for spoilers. Not sure what I am spoiling but read at your own risk!

Little tiny stubby arms haunt my every dream. EVERY SINGLE ONE! Why?! WHY! I cannot erase such things from my mind. I would divorce my husband for putting me through such horrors but who would pay for my therapy bills then?!
Photobucket
See I have no problem that this looks...dated. I have a problem that it lasted about 2 minutes and wasn't really...necessary.
Please note that all this hatred towards the original Total Recall has NOTHING to do with the technology/time frame the movie was made in. Even though every single person thinks that is why I am ranting and raving. Don’t these people know The Thing the original is like my favorite movie of all times? Clearly I am okay with dated movies with limited technologies. So I wasn’t all um lame at how the bugged out eyeballs and mutants looked. I was going um lame that these things existed.
Photobucket
Clearly a lack of science was happening in this movie...
I hope no one expects this post to make sense. I am just going to type what is in my head. Although if I want to save anyone the horror of this movie I should make a better effort in describing it. But it is just so hard. The main issue/problem I had with this movie was….everything. There was so much of everything I was waiting for a talking unicorn blasting in from another dimension to grace the screen. It got that insane. There is space travel, a triple secret agent, mind altering technology, mutants with psychic abilities, ancient dead aliens, and three boobed hookers with a heart of gold. Add in a money hungry organization, robots driving cars, and incompetent goons and I think this is every movie ever made. Ever.
Photobucket
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?! X____X
ONE OF THE MUTANTS WAS A FETUS THING ON SOMEONE’S STOMACH! ON THEIR STOMACH! WITH STUBBY ARMS! AND HIS EYES WERE TWITCHY! THE MAIN CHARACTER TOUCHED THE ARMS! MOG DIE!
Photobucket
Yep...our hero....
Did I mention that Arnold Schwarzenegger was the main character, the person that was supposed to be a secret spy? I totally believe that. TOTALLY BELIEVE THAT! It probably didn’t help that my husband kept whispering “get to the choppa” every five minutes but I found Colin Farrell much more believable as someone who was a grunt at his current job but possessed enough capabilities of being a top secret agent who can tie his shoes. Please also note the 2012 version is not humorous at all while the 1990 has really odd moments of humor. Usually after someone dies.

I have a hard time calling the new movie a remake after seeing the old one as the films are very, very different. I guess the first 10 minutes are nearly the same. The reason why the main character goes to Rekall is different but that is understandable. But from there it is a totally different movie. Spoiler alert! There is no Mars or mutants in the new movie. NO STUBBY ARMS! Apparently this is what my husband was trying to show me, that the movies were totally different. I thought he was trying to show me that the original was better but after my reaction maybe he changed his tuned so I didn’t leave him and take the cat!
Photobucket
Um...I'm here to be pretty. Deal with it.
I am not at all saying the new Total Recall movie was the best movie ever. There were some special moments in this movie too. At once point people were outside when something was traveling at the speed of VERY FAST. And they didn’t fall off and die in a gruesome way. It was really never explained why Melina was picked to be lieutenant in this campaign. While a certain wife/secret agent was running around like she was Alice from Resident Evil kicking everyone’s asses Melina was…well boring. And just there. Kinda sucking at everything including explaining what the heck was going on half the time. Also when you launch a full on attack on someone maybe you should lock down your transportation device so people don’t break in. Just saying.
Photobucket
Can't find me now that I have my towel on HAHA!
While the original is tons of special…much can be learned from this cinematic master piece. Like for instance if there is a tracking device in your skull you can wrap a wet towel around your head and the signal will be blocked. Sorta like if I wrap tinfoil around myself the aliens can’t read my mind! I also learned that if you are stuck outside on Mars and start to die, to the point where your eyes pop three inches out of your head and your face distorts into the grossest thing ever, a breath of oxygen will instantly cure you. Not the guy who got sucked outside 5 seconds before you but main character you. And your girlfriend. Oh and I also learned that ancient aliens went to the complicated trouble of making a machine that would give their planet a breathable atmosphere but NEVER USED IT! Apparently these oxygen breathing aliens were like us! They were like meh why don’t we just go to the planet next door. I mean…we spent all this time and energy on making this machine. Seems like a waste to turn it on and stuff. Also I learned that in the future we need taxis to drive us about 1.4th of a mile down the road. Wall-E here we come!

What did I like about the original? Um…let me see. Well in the new movie I found things overwhelming at times. Yes it was beautifully overwhelming and showed how the different class of people lived and tried to use every bit of space. But the layers of living space really wonked my head at times. In the original Total Recall things were done very simply, like this is the future and we have less. Makes sense to me. Um what else….err….OH I thought the scene where the main character is being told this is all a dreeeeeeeeeeeeeeam was done much better in the original. In the new movie it felt weird randomly sending in the best friend and having no facts/lies to back up his story. In the original…well the best friend was already dead and sending in the “doctor” who had nothing to gain made more sense.

Get to the choppa
In conclusion my husband hates me and I have no idea why this movie, the new one, got blasted in the media. Maybe because it was considered a remake when really I see it as a reimagined film. Is that the word I mean to use? I think it is. It took an idea from a movie, used a few elements and went in a different direction. Because that new direction was far, far away from trips to Mars, stubby arms, and get to the choppa antics. With THIS as the original source why WOULDN’T they go in a different direction? I can either remake this crappy/scary movie or I can take the ONE good idea about this movie and make something complete new. So yes. This new Total Recall totally alienated their core audience of prior fans. But only because all of those people are insane. GOOD NIGHT!

Blood-C The Last Dark movie: Was it worth the wait?

Last year at this time I was looking forward to a new show called Blood-C. Being familiar with the Blood franchise I knew Saya was going to be some sorta of vampire/monster/human hybrid and was going to slash up some monsters and blood would flow. With CLAMP included in this project how could it fail?
Photobucket
What do you mean you didn't think the movie was going to do well?!
Well it did folks. I hope everyone reading this has watched the series (not necessarily the movie but there will spoilers for that too) but except for the twist at the end, that the entire town including Saya’s friends were in on this massive secret…the show was extremely boring. Yes people died in gruesome and creative ways but the censors prevented any of us from seeing the violence (now available on BLU-ray!) Yet despite how slow the show and Saya were there were defenders of this show. That this was all a set up for the most epic movie ever and that the slow pace was necessary to build up to bigger and better things. Well now that the movie is out and I have read some people’s takes on it…was it worth the wait? Did all the questions from the TV show get answered? Did the slow pace of the anime make the movie that much more magical?

Thanks for the new sword. Payment? Maybe later!
Writing a review on something I have not watched yet is odd. Hopefully not inaccurate since I have tried to find out as much as I can about it. Someone update Wiki already! But from what I have read…this amazing movie….was not so amazing which makes the anime series a waste of time and everyone who supported the show should be going WOE IS ME! Woe is you indeed! This movie let you all down.

Since I haven’t seen the movie I can’t give a synopsis on what happened. I just know bits and pieces. But the pieces I do know have made my brain explode in HAHAHAHA More like Blood C Left in the Dark! Several bloggers have stated that major plot points from the anime that people were expecting to be answered in the movie weren’t! To me that would be Watanuki’s involvement in this hot mess and what the hell Fumito is doing torturing Saya.
Photobucket
There are rules you say? Never heard of these RULES!
Well lets just say that the movie decides the most important rule EVER in XXXholics no longer matters. Apparently Saya can just walk into the shop and take what she wants with NO payment at all. Some people have stated maybe Saya disappearing might have been the price for the sword but I am not buying that. The terms are talked about up front, even if Yuuko or Watanuki are vague about what exactly those details are. To say OH you can owe me…nope not buying it.
Photobucket
Clearly his master plan was to steal something of Watanuki's and look just as depressed as him. I see now.
Fumito was the mastermind behind Saya verses the old ones. In the anime series it appeared he was trying to prove something. Whether or not Saya could overcome her urges if she was given new memories and what not. If Saya won and remained herself she would get something. If he won he could get something. Well it appears that this SOMETHING involved a kiss. Again haven’t seen the hot mess of the movie myself but that is what I have been reading. Like really!? REALLY!? Well and she got to kill humans IE him but what was up with the kiss then?! Add in the fact that part of Fumito’s plan revolves around Tokyo teenagers and hackers and I am left saying…wft? No like seriously what the hell was the point of all of this?! People who have seen the movie are unable to answer this, that they know characters are doing things but are unclear why they are doing them.
Photobucket
Wait I am still alive at the end of this?! SO SHOCKED!
Oh and in another surprising turn of events…Saya is actually able to protect someone. Shocking I know as Saya’s record was less than...existing. I believe she saved 2 people in the entire town (which all died anyway but you know…). So the fact that Saya was able to keep someone alive that long surprises me. Totally goes against the anime but maybe Saya having her brain blown out made her smarter. Maybe she sensed the girl actually liked her (like really, REALLY liked her) and that motivated to keep someone honest alive.
Photobucket
Looks like we have seen most of one battle just in the trailers!
I don’t even know why I blogged this without seeing the movie. I guess I didn’t want to wait the 6 months it would take to get a copy of it for myself. I am just so mean, doing cartwheels over something failing so hard. I do wish I had a full synopsis of the film so I could truly laugh all over the place. But the news that there are only 3 action scenes (the ones all over the trailers I am guessing) and that most of the big questions are never answer just seemed too good to pass up. It appears the anime and the movie are both the same: disappointing and sad. HAHAHA!
Photobucket
Lets take a bath together so people will have a reason to watch the movie.
This all being said I will still watch the movie because I want to see things get slashed and squished. It will just be easier knowing that yes in fact the movie is going to suck and just enjoy the ride to crazytown. Unless I get shot in the head too and change my mind about everything. That Fumito and him using the old ones makes sense and this is the best movie ever! XD

K-On!! the Movie!!!

Oh Lord folks. Just oh Lord. Anime truly is my escape in life as I can do it for free and it helps me to temporarily forget the troubles going on in my life. Of course…I should be paying for any form of entertainment…but you can’t hate on a girl who tries to support the industry in other ways right? I try anyway folks. So while I have big dreams about going on trips all the time anime is something I can do on a daily basis that helps washes away the crazy.
Photobucket
It certainly is! Couldn't wait to watch it.
So what WOOHOO anime am I so hyped up about?!Oh just a little one called K-On!! WOOHOO! The movie is finally out on DVD and that means someone(s) was hard at work subbing it for us poor English speakers. Everyone who couldn’t see it in theaters finally got a chance to see what the hype was all about. It got subbed super fast so thank you for all your hard work. Oh and you know…the people who made the movie too. Thanks. XD So here we go….K-On!! THE MOVIE! Enjoy. XD
Photobucket
So....we're being crazy again I see....
Movie Summary: Azusa is slowly gathering her stuff up so she can make her way to the club room. The older girls are already jamming away on what sounds like really punk rock music. Azusa walks in all confused. After the song the girls start fighting, some not liking that kind of music while others wanting to go that direction. It is stated the club might disbanded when Azusa figures out they were playing to a recording of Sawako’s band. Surprise lets just play a joke on Azusa. After they poke fun at themselves they decide it is time to eat treats and drink tea…as usual. The older girls talk about how all they have left to their high school careers is graduation. Sawako comes in and Yui and Ritsu have to pay homage to the band they just made fun of. As the older girls clean up the club room Yui thinks about what Sawako said about being graduates and what they will leave behind. They decide that they will leave Azusa a gift to show her how much she means them. Ui later tries to help Yui come up with an idea of what Azusa might like. Ui says the Light Music Club is Azusa’s favorite thing in the world though.
Photobucket
So famous they can't even leave the house.
Yui thinks about what to give her that night but at school the next day is sidetracked when she learns other clubs are going on graduation trips. They toy with the idea of going on a trip themselves but try to focus on the Azusa gift first. When Azusa comes in and startles the group they cover by saying OH we were planning…a trip. So the idea ends up turning into reality. Each senior girl picks where she would like to go: Ritsu Hawaii, Yui Europe, Mugi hot springs, and Mio London. After Yui cheats to win they decide Ton-chan the turtle will decide. After a long whole Ton-chan picks Mio’s cup full of food thus London wins (well and Yui too who has to be told London IS in Europe). Azusa is very shocked when she is invited on the trip too. Then ALL the girls call their mothers as the crazies were making plans without informing their parents. After they are all given a go they set out to get their tickets and such. Azusa ends up planning most of the trip which allows for the senior girls to decide what to get Azusa as a gift. Yui talks to Azusa’s guitar and it is decide they will write the best song ever for Azusa. Azusa walks in and somehow gets it in her head that Yui is planning on staying behind a year to be with her. Soon it is time to pack for their trip and Ui is there giving advice and food.
Photobucket
Yui has parents?!
All the girls minus Mugi bring their instruments in some shape which makes Mugi so sad. They get to the airport and have silly little antics with Mio being the most excited person in the history of ever. There are slight antics on the plane with Yui talking about time travel and planes being super fun but Yui takes the time to try and work on the Azusa song. They finally land in London where Mio almost loses her luggage. To celebrate finding said luggage Mio takes pictures of everything she sees. They hail a taxi and try to use their limited English to get to their hotel. There is a minor problem when they think they don’t have reservations but it turns out there is another branch in the city. They set out to find their hotel but get sidetracked with buy Azusa new shoes and trying to find a place to eat. They decide on a sushi place but are mistaken for the entertainment. Unable to communicate that they were mistaken the girls decide to go along and play some songs. Afterwards it turns out Ritsu’s friend and her band are in town and were set to play. In the end the girls make it to their hotel without dinner. Ui’s overpacking comes in handy as the girls snack all night. Azusa has a scary dream about Yui staying back and that causes her to start avoiding Yui. The next day the girls have a blast exploring London including taking pictures with dog poop cans and riding a giant Ferris Wheel. That night the girls try to work on the song thinking they might be inspired by this grand city. Azusa and Yui end up being weird with rotating hotel rooms though and no work gets done. They have another nice day sightseeing including stopping at a music shop.
Photobucket
Those outfits were cute though....
Late one afternoon Ritsu gets a call from a friend of the friend Ritsu knows. There is a Japan Culture Festival the next day and they wonder if the girls will play as well. Even though they will cut it seriously close to the their plane time the girls decide to do so. Mugi sends for her keyboard and they take all their stuff to the site. As the girls set up to perform Sawako appears! She used all her free points to get to London just to help the girls perform. They play quite a few songs and the crowd seems to think they are a hit. They scramble to make it to the airport but have fun while doing so. Azusa becomes exhausted and the girls are grateful she helped plan such a fun trip. When they return home they find out that some other clubs are doing a last concert type deal and decide they want to too. Sawako tries to help the girls out and thinks back to when her band did the same thing. Despite getting caught by the teacher Sawako was trying to protect them from the girls manage to play one last mini concert for their graduating class.
Photobucket
.....Not as touching. XD
With the concert out of the way the older girls set to work on the lyrics for the song. Mugi creates the melody rather fast and it is decided instead of making the best song ever they should just make a song like they usually do, the ones Azusa likes. Yui works especially hard and Ui, finding out what Yui is doing, gives her some helpful advice. Azusa is still convinced that Yui is staying back a year and is worried about graduation. After going through graduation the older girls run to the roof where Yui tells them the small changes in the lyrics she made. Everyone loves the song and express how nervous they are to play it for Azusa. They wait in the club room for Azusa to arrive. Azusa finally comes to the club room and the girls sit her down and play her song. This time scenes of the girls writing the song take center stage as to show different footage than when the song was played in the episode in season 2. Azusa brushes back tears and everything is rainbows and cupcakes. The girls walk home and marvel in the fact that they are college students. They wonder what will happen now and they decide that they are going on Azusa’s graduation trip as well. They break out into their traditional WEEE having fun run and THE END!!!

No I think the movie just cemented your popularity. No need to flip out!
XO Was the movie worth the wait? Was it worth some fans seeing the movie multiple times? Lets discuss what might be the last installment of K-On!! of course since the movie was so popular there might be ways to milk this franchise even more…but for right now the movie is the last piece of the K-On! puzzle.
Photobucket
Just like a normal episode of K-On!
Sometimes I forgot that some anime movies tend to be more like long anime episodes (or worse, simple recaps!). Like Eden of the East. There are some anime movies that play out as stand alone stories, away from the rest of the plot of the main series. I would classify K-On! as something in between. Yes a lot of the plot fit right in between certain episodes in the second season. But then parts of the movie stood alone, like the London parts. But if I had to pick only one way to describe the movie I would say it was more like a really long anime episode.
Photobucket
In Japan turtles make all the important decisions.
Which I think is okay? Not that it matters to anyone in the anime industry what I think but XD it’s okay I think. Obviously okay with Japanese fans. I guess in my mind I thought it was going to be more stand alone, especially when I learned that the gang was going to London. I was like MOG an entire movie without a school setting and all new material? While I still loved the movie it didn’t match up with what was in my head. Probably my fault but I thought there was going to be more London adventures.
Photobucket
Time to get out of school and go on a trip.
The scenes that did portray the school/Japan settings though were not recycled. Well except Azusa receiving her special song. That probably couldn’t be portrayed in any other way though so that makes sense. I guess I am pretty impressed how the writers were able to expand on events that were pretty much covered in the anime. The second season seemed to cover every single day of the girls lives so to be able to add on like this was a bit surprising but welcoming.
Photobucket
We must write a song that makes the whole world sing.
A lot of the movie focused on Azusa. Not that I am a Azusa hater. It was just weird that this club has 5 people in it yet 4 people were focused on Azusa and not anyone else. Like Mio and Ritsu were friends before the Light Club so if they went off and did their own thing it would make sense. And the 4 older girls were graduating! I mean…that is a major event in life and instead of focusing on themselves like should be expected it was Azusa Azusa Azusa. Was that done to show how lovely and amazing the 4 older girls were? In any event there was not enough Mugi and had the movie focused on her…I would be all for it. XD
Photobucket
Act completely natural!
That all being said it was sweet to see all the planning that went into the Azusa song. Like it just didn’t appear out of nowhere. A lot of thought and effort went into it. Viewers already heard the song so actually hearing the lyrics wasn’t the important part. It was to focus on the girls…focusing on Azusa and trying to make the best gift possible for Azusa. It got a little…special that Azusa kept almost ruining the surprise. Like oh we are talking about the song Azusa should be walking in right about now….Still sweet.
Photobucket
Trying to make a song for ungrateful Azusa is hard.
Something I didn’t think was really cute was Azusa being weird around Yui. Of course Azusa had to do something in light of everyone acting weird and I thought Azusa was going to go the sulking route. Which I would have hated too. Like boo hoo I am being left out so I will exclude myself even more type thing. So I know that Azusa had to do something since she was reacting to the obvious crazy events. But I guess it was just sad since Yui was probably working the hardest on the song and Azusa was being…special around her.
Photobucket
Oh...so we should go on one too! With our magic anime money weeee!
I know this is anime magic…but hot damn folks!!! These girls were like oh our friends are going on a club trip? We should too. Yeah lets just go to one of the most expensive cities on the planet. We will just walk down and book tickets on such short notice and it will all work out. BECAUSE THERE ARE MONEY TREES IN JAPAN!!! I mean I love how Mugi got her keyboard shipped to her and everyone was like wow must be nice to have money…but what about you other girls?!!? Who decides to go out of the country at a drop of a hat and it works?! Do you know where my class trip was to my senior year? DISNEY! Because we are two hours away from it. And some kids couldn’t go because their parents couldn’t afford it. So how did this all happen?!
Photobucket
Oh by the way mom can I have 2 thousand dollars? Thanks.
I mean the girls calling their parents after Azusa did was hilarious. Probably more so for Azusa as she thought the crazy people already did that and the fact she was the first to think of such a thing is hilarious. But shouldn’t they have asked their parents first so they could see how much money they could milk for this trip. Or have I gone about this all wrong and somehow this was club fund money? No no folks…that can’t be it. It just has to be anime magic. Like pay no attention to reality and focus on the girls having fun.
Photobucket
Mio was so fun in this movie!
SO I SHALL! I remember when I went to Japan last year how amazing everything was and how I needed to take pictures every five feet. Even if the things I was taking pictures of weren’t all that much different from things back home. XD So when Mio was off the plane and running I remember being like that. You spend your whole life surrounded by familiar things but the minute you go somewhere different your brain nearly explodes at everything that seems new. So Mio…I understand you. XD
Photobucket
Did I say plane ride? I meant time machine!
Oh the plane ride!!! I loved my overseas trip but the plane ride, especially the returning one, was not fun. K-On! has the ability to make everything seem like fun. Cute little face masks and everything. And where was all that jet lag? How dare my animes not be based solely in reality at all times. Airplanes indeed. I really liked their luggage though. So cute and functional! Bet they had fun trying to get those to the airport.
Photobucket
Second languages are hard Mugi! I totally understand.
For some reason I pegged Mugi as the best English speaker in the group. Maybe because she has been overseas before or maybe because she is always serving English tea. Mugi does get good grades and had her pick of colleges. But Mio being able to understand English made some sense too. She was able to understand things and write things. Just not speak it. But in any event I thought one of the two were going to know enough to get around London. XD Or at least have basic conversations. I say that and did I speak a word of Japanese in Japan? Of course not.
Photobucket
This moment was brought to you by anime magic.
Without that language barrier the entire sushi shop incident would not have happened! And since this movie was obligated to have a song every 15 minutes the sushi shop incident must take place! Even if it came out of nowhere and was incredibly creepy. XD I know the girls are special but do they really think London was that special? You must sing for your sushi? Mugi being adorable and demanding she be included instead of explaining the situation was my favorite part of course.
Photobucket
Yui has been infected. ZOMBIE!!!!
While I wish there were more London scenes (because I love looking at people’s vacations, even if they aren’t….real) the ones they had were super fun. Even the fact they didn’t have tea at that one restaurant. The only restaurant in London that had tea. Reservations!!!! But the Ferris Wheel, the shopping, and the hotel fun. XD The girls running around and having fun like they normally do but this time…in London. Also I approve of going to a new country and eating things from your own. Long live the Froot Loops!
Photobucket
Rice is the most important thing ever!
I love that the girls go overseas for less than a week yet have two performances. But I guess Sawako is worse or sillier I should say. Of course I like the Japan Festival performance better than the random sushi one. A lot more organized and such. I don’t know if I would have gone with Sawako’s outfit choice or not but they were cute either way. I am sure they spread lots of Japanese love that day even if it cut their trip short.
Photobucket
So lost all the way next door!
I feel as if I am picking on the movie in my post when that is not my intent at all. X__X I really did like the movie. Just pointing out silly things that made me go?? But I loved the running joke they had with Azusa’s name and how they were looking at their vacation pictures while still on vacation. XD Yui and Azusa running back and forth between the room, the way the girls pushed Azusa when her feet hurt from the new shoes, and the cute way they handled the language barrier. Overall it was the Light Music Club having fun in another country weee!
Photobucket
Mugi singing?! WOOHOOO!!!!
Since we already saw the presentation of the Azusa song that wasn’t anything new. It was just nice seeing all the effort that lead up to that point. Especially how Yui was really trying to get the lyrics right just for her little kitten. Silly Azusa you really thought Yui was going to stay back a year? XD But now knowing where the lyrics came from I better appreciate the song and maybe that was the whole point of the movie.
Photobucket
One last goodbye to everyone. So bitter sweet.
I love how there was another performance made by our love Light Music Club. Not sure how that fits chronologically with the second season but I am sure there was a few hours of undocumented time that they could squeeze in a performance and Sawako acting like a crazy person. Loved that she did the exact same thing in her year but things didn’t go over quite as well.
Photobucket
Aw don't make me cry. :(
But yes. I am glad the Club said goodbye to their classmates as well. A lot of their fellow classmates supported and really loved the club so why not say goodbye to them as well. They deserved that much. I expected there to be more crying though. Maybe the crying came later and this was their last few moments of fun as high school students. I thought it was a perfect thing for the club to do and I fully support any and all table dancing.
Photobucket
Yui was in shock folks!
I feel as if my post is not long enough given how long the movie was. X__X I do wish the girls would have had a tea time in London. Like what is wrong with you silly girls?! I love how they are already deciding to go on Azusa’s senior trip. Like yep we are going to be there silly girl just you wait. We got to see that Yui and Ui have parents SHOCKING and that they cared about their offspring’s well being. Oh and Nodoka exists if only for two seconds.
Photobucket
Moving on to her senior year weee!
In conclusion….this movie was lovely. I am sure people paid for multiple tickets to get the freebies but maybe they thought the movie was amazing enough to see again and again. While there is a lot of moe anime out there for some reason…K-On!! touches people differently. I know it does to me. XD Nothing seems to compare to this show about 5 girls do everyday and random things while sometimes breaking into song. I enjoyed the movie and it was worth the wait. But like with the girls graduating a bit bittersweet to think this might be the last animated version of K-On! we get…well until Azusa takes over the club of course.
