Or maybe a day of eating yourself silly on Easter candy.
I have decided to post about the lovely Tokyo Disneyland Easter Wonderland parade today as it seems to be the more appropriate. There is one more post chronologically in the Tokyo Disneyland posts but that can wait for another day right? I did post a few pictures of the parade back in 2011 on the Day 15 Japan Trip post but that was just a handful of all the pictures we took in a 30 minute time frame. XD So it is time to post more so they don't go to waste right? Post is very picture heavy
People were lined up for the parade about an hour before it started. Apparently that that is when people are allowed to start waiting but I think people were gathered in "sitting areas" waiting for that hour time period. But the Japanese people come prepared. They sell plastic mats in the park for people to sit on. Then one person will go and get a meal for everyone so they can sit down and have a picnic. We were in line for a ride during the time everyone was sitting down so I really can't judge if this sitting down and waiting for an hour really affected the walkways.
Right before the parade started several cast members came around and made sure people weren't sitting in the parade route. As you can see from the pictures there is no rope holding us all back. X__X Now that I think about it that is pretty weird. Yes weird that people are able to follow directions without being corralled in.
I think we really lucked out in regards to spots for the parade. When we got out of our ride the parade was supposed to start in 5 minutes (at the starting point, while we were near the end point) yet we were able to find seats in the "second row". So I am not saying wait until the last minute to get a seat but it appears you don't have to wait an hour for the parade. Especially if you are taller than most of the people in the park.
First official float in Tokyo Disneyland. While these parades are probably designed for kids i think adults find them fun and whimsical as well. We can better appreciate the details and what not. Also being an older Disney fan makes it easier to recognize lesser known characters on the float, characters that are usually left out of most Disney parades.
I believe that Alice and Wonderland (the newer, crazier version of the movie) was recently released in Japan. There was some movie merchandise in a few of the stores. So I wonder if that influences the parade a bit. XD I mean do you think the Cheshire Cat is very eastery? But with a few decorations he too came out looking all Happy Easter!
Close up of the Mad Hatter. These pictures are a mix of my camera and my husband's camera. We tried our best to capture everything while experiencing everything ourselves. XD Plus don't these look more...natural, not some picture perfect image that is doctored and placed on commercials?
In between the floats were the excited dancers in their colorful costumes. None of the dancers were Disney characters but instead a huge splash of pastel colors and poof. Yes poof sums up the dancers quite well. Most of the dancers were women. No sexy bunny boys for the ladies. Actually a lot of the cast members at Tokyo Disneyland were women....
I say that and here is a picture of a dancer male. XD But seriously most of the dancers were women. He was one of the few. Love the big hat though.
Time for the second float. The way the floats were set up (like most floats I guess) is you can only see one side. However the characters on the opposite side of the float never move around. So one would have to watch the parade twice to get the full experience.
The parade went on for quite a while but it never seemed long and boring. Just entertaining. Also most of the song was in English which amused us. Happy Easter Happy Easter!
XO While looking back at my pictures I had almost forgotten about this cute little float. Almost like POOF we needed another float so lets make this mini one. But it is simply adorable with its egg like shape. I see some rather important ducks in that float.
And then there were more performers. While I don't usually count or keep track of the number of performers in a parade this one seemed to have a lot. I wonder if all the performers were used for both Easter Wonderland parade and the other parade that took place in the afternoon.
Time for Pooh and all his friends. His float was rather cute too. XD His little honey pot was carved out to look like an egg too.
Pooh waving to the crowd. He must knew that his ride is one of the most popular rides in all of the Disney parks. He is a celebrity!
These looked more like hip hop bunnies. Yo Yo Yo watch the Disney channel because we are cool. But they probably had the coolest costumes in terms of dancing around in the heat.
Up close and personal with another dancer. I THINK what happened now (my memory is slowly coming back) is that when we got out of the ride they were closing down the walkways in between the parade route. Thus the rope in the picture. So maybe it was just perfect timing. X__X Well that explains why we got good seats now.
More dancing. That little girl in the picture got away from her dad for a second and she was quickly put back in his lap. Like BAM people were on it.
That poor bunny girl. She looks so cute but she must have been melting. But still she had a happy smile on her face the entire time.
A few times during the parade everything stopped and there was a more elaborate dance number. There Mickey would run from float to float changing his outfit to match said float. Much to my delight the parade stopped on the Stitch float woohoo!!!
Ah there is Mickey. He has finally arrived on the Stitch float. Thank goodness as everyone is getting tired of Stitch.
Oh hi you know me? One of the lesser characters in the Stitch franchise? Didn't think so.....XD But at least you get to be in the parade!
This float....was a little scary. Like really scary. Some deranged bunny that the Goofy folks are riding on.
Chip and Dale were hiding on the back of a float. Almost missed them. Do the Japanese not love Chip and Dale? They must as they have their own tree house in the park.
These costumes almost look like they could work in Tomorrowland. Very stylish indeed. Almost like they are pushing a cart to sell us some refreshing beverages.
I love the side of the Toy Story float. The little eggs are so cute. I think the little pig was my favorite. I do love the basket Buzz was in. Maybe if I was standing up I could have gotten a better picture.
Dance egg people dance! While most people walked around the park only taking pictures with the cellphones with friends all the cameras came out during the parade. Well at least most picture taking took place.
This float was a bit...odd. Odd indeed. The Three Little Pigs? Never pictured them for anything amazing. But I guess bacon goes well with eggs. XD
Time for more dancers. Like the float before it the dancers are a little odd. Can I have my bunny girls back again?
Ah there they are. Almost like hip hop Mad Hatter bunnies. We are at the tail end of the parade yet they were still dancing and bouncing around like it was the beginning.
Oh no it is the last float. But at least it is a good one. The main characters so to speak with Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Oh and some other leader female characters.
I tried to look up your name little chipmunk girl. But the internets kept pointing me to the Rescue Rangers. But at least you get to be on a float, like that nonimportant Stitch character.
The parade is slowly starting to wind down. So much work goes into this seasonal parade it is overwhelming.
Hopefully I have entertained you this Easter day with a blast of Easter Wonderland parade magic. I had a great time watching parade and this post brings back fond memories of that day. I am a bit surprised it is Japan churning out this Easter event and not Disneyland or Disneyworld but all the same I am happy I got to experience it. Happy Easter to all!
