Shin Sekai Yori episode 25 Final Episode: And nothing was learned. Ever.

Hello there my lovely readers. Today was a sleepy day. Rain rain and more rain. Lots of rain last night too. Deliveries go up by like 300 percent when it rains....losers. So I took lots of naps today as the rain kept beckoning me to sleep!

I don't know either Saki. Time to blow the planet up.
But now I am wide awake. Got to get something blogged today. Lets start it off with a show that is finally over with. Shin Sekai Yori episode 25. After like....what 12 episodes of torturing Saki it has finally ended. Spoilers for...I don't know a dragon with Maria's head eating Saki or something.
 photo shinepisode255_zps9f3135af.jpg
Err...I thought there was going to be more....moreness.
Episode Summary: Saki, Satoru, and Kiroumaru are ready for what is to be the last stand against the Fiend. Saki explains that the Fiend is not a Fiend, that it is a human kid raised to believe it is a QueerRat. The death feedback will work if it kills what it thinks it is so Saki does the logical thing and asks Kiroumaru to die for the cause. Kiroumaru agrees in return for asking for his Queen to be saved. Saki agrees so they send Kiroumaru out in the open dressed like Satoru. The Fiend kills Kiroumaru but anime magic makes it to so that he is killed in such a way that he is still recognizable instead of a little spare on the ground. Amazing. The Fiend sees this and slowly dies. Saki starts crying over how awful everything is and Yakomaru looks on. Satoru goes to thank Saki for her hard work but she smiles and says it was all Shun, making Shun realize she has remembered their first love. Saki then explains what happened while they were in Tokyo looking for the anthrax. Her parents did make it to the village to release the tainted cats but everything was throw into chaos due to their leader Shisei being strung up. Her parents then went to burn all the important documents so they didn't fall into the wrong hands. The fire made them a target and they were killed. Yakomaru then goes to the temple and finds out where Saki and the gang were. The temple was then destroyed and that is how they were found out in Tokyo. Saki is then put in charge of QueerRats and placed on the Ethics Committee.
 photo shinepisode2513_zps458440ab.jpg
Well good to know people were paying attention when other people were dying. Hope they saved some of those documents for Leader Saki to keep safe.
Satoru and Saki go to question Yakomaru who has been imprisoned instead. Satoru demonstrates a high level of not getting it when he asks over and over again why Yakomaru he did it all. Satoru seems to think that Yakomaru rebelled for no reason and let his men be killed. Saki wants an apology instead of revenge. Yakomaru tries to explain to these fools they are an intelligent species and he was just trying to help his people. Satoru tries to rewrite history by saying Kiroumaru didn't want this for their people. Yakomaru goes on trail and some awful woman presides over it. There seems to be no point to it as everyone knows Yakomaru did it. Yakomaru insists that they are humans and they deserve to live. Everyone laughs at Yakomaru and Saki has to go outside because she has no idea what is right and wrong anymore. Satoru reminds her that Yakomaru killed practically everyone they know and not to think about it in those terms. Yakomaru is sentenced to suffer forever. They turn him into a blob of cells that they keep healing so they can torture him again. Saki continues her work in the broken down QueerRat headquarters and manages to spare some of the colonies. Satoru goes to visit her and Saki explains that she has been doing some research on what the name QueerRat means. Saki is nearly hitting the truth so Satoru is like...look you doing research is cute let me break it down for you. Satoru looked into QueerRat DNA. They did not come from naked mole rats. They either came from trees....or humans. Saki remembers Shun asking the first Fail Eevee what happened to the nonCantus power user humans. Well here is your answer. They got changed into QueerRats so power using humans could kill them if need be. Saki is once again shocked and Satoru is like...well they are not human now. Time seems to flash forward, with Saki becoming the head of the village and marrying Satoru. She works hard to connect with other villages and making a future for their unborn baby that will not involving living in fear. Still they are raising tainted cats so you know. Saki writes down everything that she has learned from her experience and thinks back to all the people that she has lost and must live on for. THE END!
 photo shinepisode2514_zps3fb1b19d.jpg
And what do you have to laugh about?
And not a single lesson was learned. By 99.9 percent of the characters anyway. The viewers maybe. But as for the humans in the show....yeah me thinks that history will repeat itself until the entire world is blown up. And this point I can only support that.
 photo shinepisode253_zpsf77d76b1.jpg
Was the Fiend blind?!
I thought that the death of the Fiend was going to be more drawn out. It felt very rushed after all this song and dance. It also felt a bit easy too. Like oh look Kiroumaru is a QueerRat let's send him in to do the dirty work. Way to go Shun with your ghost self. Thank you for stating the obvious. But yes a QueerRat taking out the nonFiend made sense. Just thought the pacing was off.
 photo shinepisode257_zps7a5932dd.jpg
Do you care at all Yakomaru?
Also I think the death could have been longer for the Fiend. I am not as concerned with Kiroumaru as I think he still would have turned on humans if given the chance. Him dying for humans after all they had done to his kind was a bit too out there for me. But I guess he wanted revenge no matter what so you know. But the Fiend....yes. I wanted more suffering on their face. Maybe even a bit of sadness if Yakomaru came by and saw him dying as surely that was the QueerRat that he thought was his father. I know we don't have to see Maria and Mamoru's death to know they are dead. But maybe a pretend scene of Maria and Mamoru holding the baby and playing with it and then a close up of what really happened, some bones and Yakomaru holding the baby. I just think it could have been more powerful.
 photo shinepisode256_zps7e1d208f.jpg
And then Shun was no more TADA!
I think there should have been more closure with Shun in regards to Saki and Satoru. I mean he has been dead and “gone” for quite a while but the show has played him up. Saki and Satoru couldn't move at the mere idea of him, couldn't have other relationships because of him. Shun got the same treatment as other characters that died at the end of the series, telling Saki they can do it. So to me his importance wasn't really played up in the end despite the fact that he was portrayed as super important. Maybe Saki and Satoru could have hugged and cried it out, like finally we have done him proud. Instead he was just glossed over.
 photo shinepisode259_zpsbc8d4272.jpg
Says Saki in the calmest voice possible.....
Can someone explain to me why Yakomaru was taken in for a trial? I mean...I get the torture part and that Saki likes to flip flop when she kills things and when she spares things. I would have just thought that Yakomaru would have killed himself. Like the Fiend is dead time to off myself because clearly we have no chance now. Also I think that deep down Yakomaru doesn't like what happened to Kiroumaru. I think that Yakomaru wanted to work with him, to help their race out and that Kiroumaru not towing the line really weighed on him.
 photo shinepisode2511_zps2495f0ad.jpg
Are you dumb?!
Satoru can be very, very smart at times. Then at others it is like he is one of the village sheep. How dare you go against us? Is Satoru unable to see both sides of the situation? All the other humans are carrying torches and what not against the QueerRats. So we the viewers see how history is doomed to repeat itself and that Cantus users will do anything to ensure they survive, even convince themselves they are in the right. But with other characters doing that why can't they have Satoru agree with Saki instead of insisting that the humans were right and the QueerRats were lucky to have known them.
 photo shinepisode258_zps0e4028d4.jpg
Not sure where Saki is getting that from. Applying her own wishes to a situation that doesn't apply.
Saki did a fair share of going back and forth with her beliefs. Which I guess makes sense. She has been raised her whole life to believe on thing and now another might be true. Of course she has 14 years to understand some of the truth. But Saki has always been a conflicted person, not knowing what to do and think. So she was defending human's ability to take out villages because it is only for the worse offenses. Saki says this as matter of fact, despite the fact that the humans would make the rules and would never kill an entire family based on one family member's mistake. But then she felt bad at the punishment handed down to Yakomaru, knowing that they are being inhumane yet again. I am sure the violent history the first Fail Eevee told them about weighs heavily on her heart and wants to prevent that from happening again despite the fact they are dangerously close to being unsavable.
 photo shinepisode252_zps85c8f803.jpg
Those would be Yakomaru's men exploding. Good thing that Kiroumaru died in a recognizable way!
Yakomaru...what to say about him. He seems very off putting and he was designed to be that way. One could never really judge him. But when his motives were explained can one really hate him? I suppose they can but maybe he is more understandable. When aliens come to our planet to take over we hate them right, even though they might be just trying to survive themselves yes? So think of the Cantus users as the aliens. Yakomaru felt as if they deserved to live too and just because they looked different and had no powers they were automatically slaves and were subjected to whatever the humans wanted.
 photo shinepisode2515_zps01029375.jpg
More human than most of the assholes in this village anyway.
Although I am not buying that Yakomaru KNEW they were humans. I think he was saying look we are intelligent and are like humans. What makes humans humans are what make QueerRat humans. I mean I suppose it is possible the truth was based down to QueerRats and since they couldn't change their appearance or make the death feedback work on them they went a different, longer route to revenge. But given how much Saki and Satoru had to go through to find out the truth I don't think Yakomaru really knew. It was the words that got them searching for the truth and he meant it as a way to tell humans you suck for thinking you are superior. But do I think that Yakomaru was a bad person? Satoru seems to think so but I guess the entire series is lost upon him? Mad at Yakomaru for causing his men to die? Um aren't there piles of dead kids all over the place? Sacrifice a few to save many? Sound familiar? Or is it easier to think of them as the baddie instead of seeing the evil in your own situation?
 photo shinepisode254_zps0e570637.jpg
If Saki and Satoru think QueerRats are equal to humans why did they ask him to die? HMM?!
While I think Yakomaru really needed to be punished to prevent something like this from happening again...I don't think the best place to house his cells were in the memorial area for the humans. That place should be for peace, worship, and remembrance. I am sure there are tons of places around town for revenge and anger. Plus by not killing Yakomaru it was set an example to the other QueerRats that the humans mean business. Maybe they should have put him out in the open, near the borders of town. And then let the QueerRats go to live their lives in other parts of the world. Like we won't kill the rest of you but it is time to part ways so both our species can survive. Makes the most sense yes? To remind both sides that in another war situation both sides might lose too much to start over.
 photo shinepisode2522_zps80646a95.jpg
Goodbye my old friend!
When Saki finally put Yakomaru out of his misery it was weird. She should have just done it to put another being out of its misery. That on some level she realized he was doing what was best for his people and after all Saki knows are humans any better? But for her to talk to him like they were misunderstood friends this whole time....no beuno. You can understand why someone does something but still hate them because of how it effected you. Everyone is dead. Lets not pretend you were once friends. You were always above him and he was below you. It was just odd.
 photo shinepisode2517_zps80d6d14b.jpg
Hard at work in a building with no roof...or wall.
Saki has always been an odd duck. Almost knowing everything but failing to learn the truth. Someone else always has to come and explain it to her. But at least she has the ability to think for herself. She wasn't in the crowd cheering and being utterly gross. I mean I am sure some of those people were blinded by grief and it is hard to blame them. So while Saki wasn't able to figure out this one last mystery herself she at least tried. Even if they were probably supposed to be rebuilding...you know the building she was in at the time.
 photo shinepisode2519_zps4537e81a.jpg
He says o so casually.
While Satoru fails to get it most of the time he at least has the ability to also think for himself and to feel bad on some level. I am not sure where all this researching was taking place as Saki's parents burnt all the books and the temple was destroyed but yes research. Satoru is the only other person who has as much information as Saki even if it looks like at times he doesn't care. But when after he explained the situation it was like he went back to not caring. Like whelp they aren't humans so don't get so upset. Unless he is saying all these things to protect himself from the awful truth.
 photo shinepisode2518_zpsd61a3372.jpg
Or trees. Giant trees that will summon fruit to turn people into statues.
Which is....QueerRats are humans. Now since I have thought that for a while the revelation wasn't THAT big of a shock. Now I did assume that they were humans that were out on the world and had been affected by the leaking Cantus. Like all the other messed up creatures in the world. So I was wrong on that front. I guess I really underestimated how much manipulation took place throughout the past 1000 years. Like really, really, REALLY underestimated the amount of insanity going on. I guess at some point Cantus users wanted peace but really couldn't trust normal humans to hold up their end of the bargain so they insert mole rat DNA into them. Just who the hell was making all the decisions back then? Like guys I got this great idea just hear me out!
 photo shinepisode2520_zps3f8eadce.jpg
Saki keeps it together rather well I think.
It just seems overly complicated to me. And all their fault. Lets say that the plan was always to turn humans into QueerRats and make them their slaves. Why not...just insert enough mole rat DNA into normal humans and kill them off then. That way NO rebellion would ever take place. Of course humans were too full of themselves to think like that and kept the mole rat people around much too long. AND of course why go to all this crazy shit to begin with. Why not just round up all the normal humans and all one Cantus user to toss them out to sea. One death verses many yes? I mean...they were going to make them into beasts anyway and threaten to kill them later. Why not just kill them all now?
 photo shinepisode2521_zps8b17af0d.jpg
Oh Satoru. That lesson learner.
To me this is the most shocking piece of information they have gotten in the entire series. And yet...it was less than when the Fail Eevee told them about their violent past. Maybe Satoru and Saki are just so tired of all these awful things they are numb to it. Satoru was like....yeah and what can you do now. Saki was a bit more....upset. Which is what she should have been. I doubt many if anyone else has this information now. So what REALLY can be done? Just do the insane laugh because really can life get any worse?
 photo shinepisode2523_zps1c40a4b5.jpg
WEEEE! All better!
And then...POOF things got better. Or at least okay. Saki and Satoru....married. Saki...in charge of the village. Saki and Satoru...having a baby. Saki and Satoru....trying to rework their civilization. I thought this was supposed to be a bittersweet ending. All I see is everything looking hopeful and stuff. I mean there was a montage of all the dead people (Shun getting equal amount of time despite “meaning” more) but that was it. I wanted to see sad faces all over the place. I guess since the final moments of the show took place 10 years after the fact....but before that it was a few months after all was said and done. I don't know...I didn't feel the bleakness. And things are bleak folks.
 photo shinepisode2524_zps61a9f92d.jpg
No. Because I am sure other people have said that too and...well Granny had tainted cats as pets. JUST SAYING!
Overall I just didn't think this show did a good job nor does it deserve pages and pages of praise, all I see on the internet. I can see how it could have been a good show but I don't think it went the extra mile in anything. Like how the humans were laughing at Yakomaru. I am not sure what they were laughing at. It is not like they really WON. Saki and Satoru barely pulled it off and that is after half the village was dead and burnt to the ground. Why the laughter? While I hate homophobes I can see why people were confused at the sudden everyone is gay direction the show took. And then suddenly it just stopped. It was like the show didn't want to go into much detail about the sexual behavior because it was afraid of getting the axe. Instead it put the bare minimum in which actually hurt the show. I think there should have been more explanation, that some of the kids actually loved each other while others were going along with the sexual relationships to keep from being insane. It wasn't very clear and some people felt as if this was all done for shock value instead of specific reasons.
 photo shinepisode2512_zpse0c46c7b.jpg
Everything is Maria's fault remember!
That is how I felt the whole series was. Just not enough. Not enough explanations on important topics. Like I believed the kids were taught the death feedback crap. I didn't know their genes had been messed with. That was never made very clear. Maybe we should have been some technology hidden in the background to let us know what is going on behind the scenes. I don't like how we were mislead into thinking this was Maria's fault when really it was the adults running around killing too many kids and treating the QueerRats like shit that caused it all. Hello even the synopsis about this series was misleading!
 photo shinepisode25_zps6ebfc099.jpg
Go where? To a wonderful future? Just like how the last 1000 years have been wonderful? Oh okay.
But it is over now. Saki and Satoru are going to make a new future...because they are in love. Fell in love... or maybe they are the only two left and came together. And besides those two not a single person learned a lesson from all this horribleness. Perhaps the bleak future is for the audience to see and the characters to experience again. Just....a whole lot of wtf with this show. Thank goodness it is over.

Shin Sekai Yori episode 24

Hello there my lovely readers. Today I have been so lazy. So lazy indeed. I think all I did today was...play internet games. Oh lord folks. So lazy. I must make it up tomorrow by cleaning the entire house, going grocery shopping, and catching up on every single blog comment. I must be productive or else.
 photo shinsekaiepisode24_zpsf10ad7d9.jpg
Does your reflection show the insanity inside?
At least I am doing things now yes? Blogging is important too. XD I have a much of episodes almost done and ready to be posted so that will make me feel better. Up now is Shin Sekai Yori episode 24. Spoilers for....what is the point anymore?!
 photo shinsekaiepisode2415_zps0ece3d6e.jpg
That someone's chasing you?
Episode Summary: Saki goes to run to Shun to ask him what the hell is going on when suddenly Shun turns into Kiroumaru and he is wondering why Saki is so crazy. She wants to know where Satoru is and Kiroumaru explains he is slightly injured in a cave and to follow him. Saki is reunited with Satoru and she explains that Inui died for her sake. Satoru starts to realize that all his blood is making his shirt red but it might be the for greater good. Saki shows that she has the anthrax and Satoru decided to wear the necklace despite being the more injured of the two. Saki rolls her eyes at that concept but then remembers she hates bugs. They follow Kiroumaru as he can sense where the Fiend and company is. Kiroumaru has taken out some of the other QueerRats so he says they can either run to fight another day or use the weapon and take out the Fiend. Kiroumaru slathers on some mudd even though he just got done saying the QueerRats weren't interested in him. The rain seems to mess up their plans and they are forced into a corner. Kiroumaru decides that he will be bait and lead the Fiend to Saki and Satoru. They will then run and try to use the weapon if they can. Saki and Satoru protest that the plan puts them in danger when Kiroumaru points out everyone has been put in danger thus far for the last 6 episodes. So they go along with the plan. While they wait for Kiroumaru Saki keeps hearing Shun talk to her about how this is not a Fiend. Saki posses that question to Satoru who gets upset, thinking that Saki is just sad that Maria and Mamoru's kid will be killed. Saki then says look, I don't think the Fiend knows it is a human thus that is why I keep saying it's not a Fiend. It thinks it is a QueerRat. Once they show the Fiend what it looks like maybe they can reach him. Kiroumaru gets the Fiend to Saki and Satoru. They freak out and start running but soon the Fiend doesn't follow them at all?
 photo shinsekaiepisode2412_zpseaa294f2.jpg
Because you are really working with them?!
They wonder what is going on and Saki realizes it is a trap. The ceiling caves in and Saki realizes that Yakomaru knows their position. There is talk of if Kiroumaru told Yakomaru where they were. The Fiend comes upon them and Satoru puts up a mirror to show the Fiend what he looks like. This results in the Fiend screaming and breaking the glass. Satoru throws the anthrax but Saki decides that Satoru will die at that distance and sets the anthrax on fire. They manage to run away as the Fiend has gotten burnt in this attack. They eventually met up with Kiroumaru and there is some more talk about what to do now that Saki has destroyed the weapon. Eventually because my memory is failing me in my old age they go into a tunnel that will only give them one exit but that means that Yakomaru can only chase them one way. Saki apologizes for what she did, saying she couldn't bear it if she was all alone in the world. Satoru says it is okay and Yakomaru starts calling out to them, promising a truth. Even though Kiroumaru says be quiet everyone starts talking, questioning why he went to Tokyo all those years ago. Kiroumaru confesses that he did come to Tokyo to find the anthrax himself but couldn't find it. He then turns into Yakomaru, sucking up and saying that he then was loyal to the humans to protect his people and keep them safe since they are so powerful. For some reason that makes Saki and Satoru feel much better. Well until Kiroumaru suggests they all die, by making the tunnels collapse and burying themselves and the Fiend in there. Shun is like SAKIIIIII can't you hear me?! It's not a Fiend. So Saki decides that she has come up with a brilliant plan that needs Kiroumaru to work and may not involve Saki and Satoru dying. She is going to stop the Fiend ya'll. THE END!
 photo shinsekaiepisode2413_zpsb184cfca.jpg
All of my ideas suck so don't bother asking me!
What the hell folks?! What the hell?! I was ready for my victory speech. Like AHA I knew this was going to happen but then...it just melted before my eyes. I don't even care about Saki and her dumbass self enough because of my wrongness.
 photo shinsekaiepisode2411_zps0faf2925.jpg
Because they are?
But lets be clear here folks. I am not calling this a total loss. In face I might say I was halfway right. Halfway. Because I want a victory folks. Kiroumaru was not in league with Yakomaru. They were not working together to kill Saki and Shun. Kiroumaru probably did want revenge for his people. The showdown in front of the human leaders was real. These are all the reasons why I was wrong.
 photo shinsekaiepisode244_zpsfc2f56cc.jpg
But I couldn't find them so I sucked up instead. THE END!
HOWEVER I am not ready to hold hands with Kiroumaru and call it friendship and love and yay you were on our side and didn't betray us. He did. Or at least he tried to. Inui was right with his thinking, that Kiroumaru came to Tokyo to get the anthrax himself. That alone means he wasn't all YAY HUMANS! The fact that he didn't join up with Yakomaru doesn't mean he turned over a new leaf and wanted to live side by side with the people who kept his people down. He simply did not have the weapon. Had Kiroumaru found the weapon I bet things would have turned out different. Maybe he and Yakomaru would have worked together to destroy the humans had he had the weapon.
 photo shinsekaiepisode245_zps74696112.jpg
Because I had to bitches!
But he didn't folks. And there is a difference between Yakomaru and Kiroumaru, just like all humans are different from each other even when they have the same goals. Kiroumaru knows what humans are capable of doing and instead of fighting back and losing the war/many lives Kiroumaru decided to suck it up and be the bitch. Like yes time to suck up. In fact since Kiroumaru did such a great job of sucking up his group was perceived as being more loyal than Yakomaru's this Yakomaru suffered even more anger. Yakomaru might be bent on being the king of the QueerRats and has no problem throwing as many bodies into this fight as possible but he seems to be fighting for the greater good or complete freedom for all QueerRats. Kiroumaru just wanted that for his group. Like yep we will be your slaves no problem here, keeping it alive. So I don't know why Kiroumaru is getting painted as this awesome character. Or really a loyal character. He wasn't willingly loyal so it doesn't count to me.
 photo shinsekaiepisode248_zpsf2d31ddb.jpg
Are you jealous now or something?
I have decided to deal with the appearance of Shun in a certain way because basically it makes my head explode. So...I have decided that Shun has either put part of his soul into Saki before he exploded. The other explanation is that Saki is crazy intelligent and the way she deals with all this is imagining Shun and giving him all the right things to say. But it would make more sense if Shun was alive in some way in Saki's mind given he is actively giving her correct advice. He knows things from a different perspective, mainly because he is not the one in danger.
 photo shinsekaiepisode2416_zpsb499bc78.jpg
Because Shun told me!
Either way it is bullshit. I mean Granny was going on and on about how special Saki is and all I see is Saki crying over bat poop and all the men lining up to die for Saki and now a man is giving Saki all the right answers. It sorta pisses me off. I like it better when Saki was ripping tentacles off Fail Eevees. She had a lot of spunk and now it has all fizzled. It has nothing to do with crying. People can cry and still be brave. It's just that Saki was so talked up by Granny I expected more. Or I am still pissed Saki couldn't take the few awful creatures in the tunnels when she saw people turn into confetti blobs. Like really. This is the great leader? I just wish that Saki wasn't getting info from dead Shun and was using her own wits to solve things.
 photo shinsekaiepisode2414_zps47e0bafc.jpg
SAY ALL THE WORDS PLEASE!
I think that Satoru is being portrayed as harsh in these last two episodes even if he is being super brave trying to protect Saki and the rest of his village. He is being shown as not listening to Saki when really she is not explaining herself well. Saki finally does get her point across to him but I just felt as if Satoru was getting a bad wrap. Saki talks to dead people. Satoru is trying to prevent more dead people. Next time explain your point faster and people won't shut you down Saki.
 photo shinsekaiepisode246_zpsd108e5a8.jpg
At this point everyone does Saki. Everyone.
The Fiend is not a Fiend because it doesn't know it's human. Because QueerRats don't have mirrors. Or water......But still. I guess I have a few problems with this. The Fiend thinks it is a QueerRat. But didn't the Fiend kill all of Kiroumaru's men? I mean he did disarm the entire force but I guess I can't remember the specific wording. Perhaps that wording would show whether or not the Fiend killed them or the other army took them out. Also maybe I am not understanding how the death feedback works but it's not like if the Fiend is going to see his reflection and go OH NO I killed humans. Doesn't this feedback thing have to be conditioned over time? Going to the school and doing the test with the priest? It's not like the Fiend will see his reflection and it would work if he then attacked Saki and Satoru. It would need more time, a person in control of their actions. Who has concepts and ideas above that of a caged animal, because that is what the Fiend looks like.
 photo shinsekaiepisode242_zps46990969.jpg
In the future the only reflective surfaces are mirrors. Good to know.
Also I am not sure what Saki was trying to gain by showing the Fiend what it looked like. We don't know what level of intelligence the kids has. So maybe Saki wasn't thinking straight or grasping at straws but that entire thing was special. She really doesn't want to kill any part of Maria....even if that part has killed many of her people. I think all the death is taking it's toll on Saki in a society where everything bad is erased.
 photo shinsekaiepisode243_zps7ed8d25a.jpg
I guess living with no one is a loss too.
OOOOOOOOOR she doesn't want to be alone. That is why she saved Satoru from the anthrax. I would argue that the show was being a TROLL and that Kiroumaru was certainly being portrayed as a traitor. Because why couldn't one of the others be bait and Kiroumaru throw the anthrax so everyone wins?! But yeah besides that dumbass move.....Saki destroying the anthrax to save one person..for maybe a minute. How do I feel about that....well Logically Saki should have let Satoru kill the Fiend. More and more people will die if this keeps up and more Fiends are raised. So Saki would save Satoru for a short time just so she wouldn't alone for a little bit. But then when several other characters have stated their GROUPS are the real families, not the actual families maybe it understandable what Saki did. Maybe.....

Because I know you won't throw it!
I think I have typed enough. I don't think I did a good job though talking about the Fiend and why this is confusing to me. But Saki ends the episode by saying Shun has given her an idea. It is the last episode folks. What could this magical idea be? It better not be...Kiroumaru killing the Fiend. Because I thought QueerRats were always around to help kill kids. So...that wouldn't be such a dramatic conclusion right? We know Saki is going to live though? Will Satoru make it out of there? And does it matter because if Saki can live forever like Satoru she will end up alone anyway? I don't know. I have been saying use the QueerRats all along to kill the Fiend but who knows. WHO KNOWS. Oh wait ghost Shun does...

Shin Sekai Yori episode 23

People....people. I thought I already posted this episode. I was like why is this sitting in my not finished box. I went to drag it to the March 2013 folder when I thought wait let me make sure I haven't posted it yet and behold...I haven't. I don't know why. Maybe I got distracted by Aika and her little story or something. Wait is this the day that I had to go out and do some retail therapy because that is the best way to deal with stress? Yes that must be it. Probably solved. Disney bags trump anime posts. Or at least remembering them.

You mean this ENTIRE series?!
Here you go, a few days late! XD Shin Sekai Yori episode 23. The continuing store of Saki's life really sucks. Like really sucks folks. How much suck can this girl handle?! It is really blowing my mind at this point.
Photobucket
Thanks Fail Eevee. Because Saki wasn't freaking out or anything.
Episode Summary: Life continues to suck for Saki. Satoru is trying to wrap his mind around why a slug would turn out that way. Saki starts mumbling about cantus being leaked and the barrier but it is clear this is information erased from the minds of others and she leaves it at that. Besides there are killer mites behind them that threaten to eat them. They run away from that and other dangers in the cave. Kiroumaru stops to tell the group and Yakomaru and his group have broken up into two teams but have not found them yet. They continue their way through the horrible cave until they reach an opening and a very strong river. Fail Eevee tells them they have to go upstream so Kiroumaru is like oh lets go back and get the sub. He explains more before anyone kills him for suggesting such a thing. One group (he and Kiroumaru) will lead Yakomaru around in circles while the other group (Saki and Inui) will go back further under ground to get the sub and find some underground passageway to make it to the river. This seems like a plan and Saki complains about having to walk in the water. Inui decides this is the moment to voice his concerns about how maybe Kiroumaru shouldn't be trusted, you know when they left him alone with Satoru. He is very subtle about it, about how things aren't adding up. Like why did Kiroumaru travel to this place, Tokyo, so long ago and lose so many men for exploration? Saki has had a long day and doesn't really want to think about that. They make it to the sub and Saki asks Fail Eevee what the most dangerous animal is in the area. Fail Eevee runs out of batteries but manages to say it is some water worm thing. AHA Inui says. Why didn't Kiroumaru warn them of that?
Photobucket
And why do you say that Shun?
If on cue the damn water worm attacks and Saki sorta stands there in shock. Inui manages to kill the beast and is like lets go folks! They take off in the sub before the birds can locate them. Inside the sub covered in bat poop, worm guts, and who knows what else Saki starts to lose it. “Shun” starts talking to her, saying that everything will be okay. He refuses to answer who he is when she asks and Saki starts to get upset, thinking this is too hard to kill a Fiend. “Shun” is like are you sure that is a Fiend? Inui snaps Saki out of what he thinks is a trance and they travel on, taking time to recharge the Fail Eevee and to let Saki have a cry/take a bath. They make it to the cave part of the river but no Satoru or Kiroumaru are around. Inui decides they need to keep on going because they have to complete this mission. They travel on what looks like an old subway line until they reach a part where the sub can't go. With air bubble hats they continue on. Along the way another worm slug thing comes and eats Inui. Inui manages to land a killing blow though and Saki is able to escape. She takes a moment to cry about her horrible life and continues on to what looks like an old hospital. She looks and looks and finally finds a necklace full of anthrax. Suddenly Saki breaks out of the hospital and starts running, running towards something. She thinks she sees “Shun” and calls out his name, finally remembering him and what happened to him due to his powers. She continues running after him like he is trying to lead her somewhere. The somewhere is overlooking destroyed Tokyo and Saki goes to ask Shun what is going on when THE END!
Photobucket
Quit saying that!
Well I called it. CALLED IT! I mean I didn't call it all the way and now I am sorta kicking myself in the pants for not calling it more but called it. Humans are doomed folks, doomed because of QueerRats AKA humans without powers.
Photobucket
Why did Satoru look confused when she said this?
But first things first. Sometimes this anime is hard to watch because the characters have had their memories messed with. Does Satoru not remember about the sacred barrier and how their powers change the outside world? Or did Satoru want Saki to be quiet and he was covering for her because Inui might not know that. Either I was like....yep you guess got random powers that have to be harnessed in such a way that only 10 percent of you have to die before adulthood. Who knew that things could get that messed up. WHO KNEW?!
Photobucket
Oh how very interesting. Interesting indeed.
Well we know who. Kiroumaru. He was like oh yeah those dust mite things....gonna kill us. Probably killed that monster thing in front of us. Good thing we didn't take our chances above ground with the enemy we know. We just will take a happy walk in a cave full of things that can kill us. That's the spirit. Oh and I will tell you about all these secret sounds Yakomaru is making with the other QueerRats. HMMMMM could that be code for you?! I mean....maybe all the humans really are that tired so they need a little bit of slack but really... Kiroumaru is a QueerRat. Maybe they really thought he was the most loyal creature ever but me thinks that that temple dude is going to do the I TOLD YOU SO dance really soon.
Photobucket
Time to swim then!
I felt really....I don't know the words when they reached the end of the tunnel and there was rushing water. Kiroumaru was like oh we will just turn around and get the sub. I would have been like BITCH I just walked through bugs and shit and monsters trying to eat my soul. I will swim through this damn water! I am not going back and then making my way back through another path that will probably have just as many dangers. Like nope I am swimming, can't make me go back.
Photobucket
Red shirt time?
The second Inui went off with Saki I was like....see yay Inui. I thought that Satoru would have stayed with Saki and Inui, with his suspicions, would have stayed with Kiroumaru. But maybe Satoru isn't thinking right and Inui wanted to die. I mean he said that he was going to risk his life to protect Saki. Sealed his fate right there. Notice Saki didn't say anything back....
Photobucket
Sure I do. Since they are communicating with me.
I think that Inui should have said more. Maybe because we are the viewers we just know more. But yes more! Tell Saki more so she knows what she will be up against. Like um....if Yakomaru has been planning this attack for years don't you think he had EVERYTHING planned out? Every tiny detail....and maybe even a bit of luck since I still think there is something special about Maria's kid becoming a magical Fiend when those are rare to begin with. But behold folks. Yakomaru and Kiroumaru are probably besties.
Photobucket
Oh....just a fun fact to throw in there.
Okay maybe not besties. I am not sure when this alliance happened but maybe Saki and Satoru need to start thinking about that when. Because if it was BEFORE the war....them bitches are in trouble. I mean Kiroumaru hid in a ditch? He is the biggest QueerRat out of the bunch and he hide in a ditch? No this story of survival smells funny. Which means that HIS entire army is still out there, waiting to strike.
Photobucket
Like anthrax important?
But maybe Kiroumaru and his buddy Yakomaru decided to kill off half the armies just as a way to get rid of humans. A huge price to pay but something they might have decided on long ago. Which would mean that whole argument in front of the elders/important people was a farce too. Those signals Kiroumaru heard were probably for him. Kiroumaru came to Tokyo those years ago to find the Anthrax themselves. Either to take out humans or the Fiend when he outlived his usefulness. Now it would have been easy for Kiroumaru to lead Satoru to the Fiend and let him get taken out that way but in the clips for next week he is still alive. But that is a lot right folks? Yeah he is a traitor face. Or really on the side he should be on.
Photobucket
Well good thing you didn't say anything stupid....
None of this really got said to Saki because yet another monster came out of nowhere and attacked them. Poor Fail Eevee is getting blamed for some of that too since he wasn't fully recharged. But it is getting ridiculous now. What else can go wrong? Just what else is out there? I was being sarcastic last week but apparently I was telling the truth.
Photobucket
Say my name say my name.
After all this fun Saki needed to take a nap. But instead of a nap she got visited by Shun. Now I don't know if Saki is crazy, strong willed, or if Shun is a ghost. But I really don't find him all the comforting or helpful. Like she wants to know your name dude, it is bothering her. Maybe it is like those painting from Harry Potter that my husband told me about because I haven't seen the movies. But it can't be since Shun seems to know things as they are happening, like he is a current character. Either way he doesn't seem to bring Saki any peace.
Photobucket
Peace out Inui. :( You tried your best.
I like that Inui was like must focus on the mission. But as he stated earlier he was really trying to avenge his fallen people because they were his family. WORD TO THAT. So at that point what is one dead Satoru right? We got.....well a handful of people to save! So yeah it was kinda sad he went out Deep Blue Sea style but he got his licks in so it wasn't a total loss.
Photobucket
Slightly dramatic but maybe it will be more effective this way?
I really thought that Saki wasn't going to find the anthrax. That Kiroumaru had already found it years before. And maybe they did find some and just thought this necklace was simply a necklace. Okay so Saki has the weapon. Now how is she going to use it? Things have been going so well for her and no one she knows that I don't think they have thought how to use this without killing innocent people. We need to some people left to rebuild yes?
Photobucket
Has Saki lost her mind or does part of Shun still really exist...and can tell the future?
And now there is doubt that Saki will even use the weapon. She decided at the end of the episode she needed to run outside, like she sensed the Shun ghost. Her remembering Shun was rather sudden but his message was familiar. Oh is that a Fiend? Now was Shun ghost telling her that or is Shun really Saki's common sense and of course he will say what she is thinking? Either way...Saki remembers Shun. Because 12 years later she has not moved on. And now she may not want to kill the Fiend. She second guesses a lot of things right? Well even if this kid is being used and is innocent....I am thinking death is in order to save the most people. Sorta like what the people thought when they made the Anthrax. Such a feel good show.
