Nendoroid Mami Tomoe is making her presence known!

I am not a fan of the rain. I know that it is a necessity for life in general but not a fan. I tend to wear pants that a boot cut but don't wear the boots. So my pants usually drag on the ground which turns my pants into two ton weights during the rain. So on my days off I pray it will rain so all of my FAVORITE co-workers can get wet instead of me. Of course...that means I have to stay home....

Before I get to my exciting MAMI post I am going to link you lovely readers to where I buy my nendoroids. Someone asked me but I took way too long to reply so here is the answer.

Hobby Search is my first choice of nendoroid shopping (the husband's too). You can earn points depending on what you buy. Shipping is generally reasonable and the prices are lowered for a preorder item. Website link: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/

AmiAmi is also a good website if you are looking for nendoroids. Not sure about their shipping prices though as the husband does most of the buy. Website link: http://www.amiami.com/

Photobucket

Finally she has arrived!!!

OKAY! Now it is time for Mami! my favorite character from this series despite her um...short time on screen. XD

Photobucket

First we got to take some pictures of the box.

Photobucket

I always get worried about ripping the box when I take off the sticker.

Photobucket

That doesn't look friendly too me.

Photobucket

HMMMM in all these pictures there is no stand. That is cheating!

Photobucket

Weee so many weapons and so little time.

Photobucket

Here she is! After many months of waiting she is finally here. Her hands, like Homura, are pretty firmly in place. But I was not impressed with the plug that connected to her back. Obviously you take these nendoroids apart a lot and I find it easier to just keep the plug in the back and take the stand off. This plug was not staying in place at all, even when the husband got involved. The only flaw I could find with this nendoroid but due to this flaw Mami took a header into the table when I moved her and now her hair has "character".

Photobucket

Closer view of Mami's jewel. Soul gem if you would. Wonder what is inside it.

Photobucket

Close up of the ADORABLE hat. It is magnet and it fits perfectly on Mami's head if you put it on just right. Which means you really can't put it in different spots if you felt so inclined.

Photobucket

Yes come be my friend. Everything will work out I promise.

Photobucket

Being the mature 9th grader Mami is she has snacks and drinks ready for all her guests.

Photobucket

Close up view of the lovely treats. Mami comes with special hands already holding the treats. So no need to worry about them being dropped.

Photobucket

A certain someone sees something delicious. I suggest not sharing.

Photobucket

But Mami isn't all about sweets. She is also a veteran Magical Girl. Oh snap have I not probably introduced Mami yet?

Photobucket

Close up of the guns and their little stand. Mami is the oldest girl in the series Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica. While many fans thought they were getting another magical girl show things quickly went from WEE girl power to...well end of the world. And Mami was part of the turning point.

Photobucket

Mami is a very powerful magical girl. And unlike most of the girls in this series BUT like most magical girls she actually labels her attacks. Because she is awesome and full of hope. Only one of the guns can be held though.

Photobucket

Mami's SUPER spell. Bring on the dead witches!

Photobucket

This pose was one of the most frustrating scenes I have tried to create out of all my nendoroids though. Maybe if the back plug worked better there would not have been anger. Mami has to be set as far back as possible for this to work and even then I couldn't get her hands to look like they were holding the gun. Maybe I am just special and the husband could have done a better job with staging.

Photobucket

Or I could just take pictures like this and you can't see how special I am YAY!

Photobucket

Time for serious Mami. The hats are off folks! Not the gloves but the hats!

Photobucket

Together we can save the world Madoka. Notice how I didn't ask Sayaka for help at all. BECAUSE NO ONE LIKES HER!

Photobucket

Here is a close up view of Mami's AWESOME hair. I appreciate cosplayers who take the time to make their hair as close as possible to the original. But with nendoroids everything is perfect yay!

Photobucket

Despite the fact that Mami has a huge gun in her set she still comes with something....a little extra.

Photobucket

Meet Charlotte! Everyone's favorite cake eating witch. Her time on screen was brief and she appeared to be an easy boss...but Mami's facial expression says it all doesn't it?

Photobucket

Um....Moving right along!!!

Photobucket

Mami happily joins the other Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica girls in my case. One of these days I will buy a huge glass case but this is what I have for now. My poor nendoroids, less and less space for them to have. But it will do for now. I hope everyone loves Mami as much as I do! And if not...well just don't love Sayaka. Whom will be on her way shortly.....

Puella Magi Kazumi Magica: The Innocent Malice chapters 1-6

I am starting this post while watching Big Brother. Depending on how this train wreck goes this post will be up at the end of the night or tomorrow. XD I do spend so much time surfing the web while doing posts it feels like it takes me hours to get anything blogged. I am a special multitasker. Also now I have ice cream to eat so this might take a while.

But I feel compelled to blog about Puella Magi Kazumi Magica: The Innocent Malice now since I was going to do a combo post. Also it feels weird to type Puella Magi and not Mahou Shoujo. Weirdness.

Spoilers for Puella Magi Kazumi Magica: The Innocent Malice lie ahead. But this is not going to be a complete review as the manga is still being published. So in the future my opinion might change over certain characters as the body count increases, things get explained better, and people’s real motives are revealed. But still this post will still be spoilery.

Puella Magi Kazumi Magica: The Innocent Malice takes place on Earth as Kyubey is present. However so far in the manga Homura has no made an appearance. She is probably around…somewhere. But it doesn’t appear that this will be a crossover manga. Homura is off protecting Madoka in a different city while these girls have super fun adventures within their town. So I don’t think we should expect to see Mami, Kyoko, and the girl who almost destroys the world in every timeline.

Of course this does mean that everything in this manga does not matter. Because wherever Homura is she will be rewriting history. Or if it is the timeline where Madoka changes the rules things will still change. So basically we are reading a story that will never happen XD Yay for fun.

Photobucket

Note that Jubey does not make evil faces like that.

This town seems to have a different person running the show. Instead of Kyubey stepping on soul gems and chasing after girls to be magicalfied this town has a FAIRY named Jubey. Yes folks fairy. Maybe Jubey did a little research before arriving in town and learned what young teenage girls like. And that is the aspect of saving the world while appearing to be a cute magical thing instead of a creepy alien trying to turn them into witches.

Photobucket

Look at me, I am here to help you!

Jubey is way different from our resident crazy fluffy thing Kyubey. For one Jubey is keeping girls from coming witches. This has not been explained yet why he clears their Soul Gems up but he does. Perhaps he waiting until all of them lose their minds and turn into oh I don’t know…Walpurgis Night? I don’t know, this could happen. Kyubey was seen in the area and maybe he is helping get the quota done as fast as possible (IE make Madoka the best witch ever) and he heals his little Pleiades Saints alive. For the time being anyway.

It is unclear if the Pleiades Saints found out during Yuri’s death that magical girls become witches or if they knew beforehand. In any event it does not seem that the girls are calling for Jubey’s head or particularly hold a grudge against him. Despite all 6 (because Kazumi didn’t remember the truth until recently) of the girls knowing the truth they have been able to remain magical girls and not fall into despair. That is pretty good since Mami lost her damn mind after 5 seconds of knowing the truth.

I am leaning towards them knowing though. Perhaps not Yuri but the other 6 girls made wishes that were small yet meaningful. Instead of wishing to become a famous writer Umika wants just one person to recognize her work and give her a chance. Why would all the girls make super safe wishes if they didn’t already know the rules?

Photobucket

All is never well in magical girl land.

Given how the girls are acting around Kazumi I think these girls may be up to something crazy. Or at least a little on the amoral side. You know, hunting down magical girls before they even become witches type deal. The way that Nico has been acting around Kazumi, especially in the last chapter, it would appear to me that maybe Kazumi was really down with what they were doing if not the leader. So without Kazumi, their jewel/treasure, they have to pick up the slack. And maybe they aren’t totally bad as they seem to want Kazumi to be happy in her new life.

Photobucket

Our combos rock!

But despite the reasoning behind the group getting together the fact remains that the girls ARE a group. This series has had real problem with girls working well together. There is the issue of limited resources. While I think pairs would be better than sole girls I think a group of 7 is completely unreasonable. I guess they aren’t using as much magic to take down a single wish so their soul gems don’t get as dirty. But still….that is a lot of resources they need. So maybe that is why they resort to….”talking” to magical girls before they transform.

Maybe I should have started at the beginning so people reading this will not be confused. However the beginning of the manga is super confusing. Girl is in a suitcase, man with a bomb, and normal people become witches. For the first couple of chapters I thought I was reading the wrong manga. X___X.

But now that things are starting to make sense the beginning is a little easier to understand. So don’t give up Madoka fans. Things will…make sense. Hopefully. Kazumi was put in a suitcase by Airi, a relatively new magical girl. Her friend Yuri was one of the Pleiades Saints until she became a witch and was destroyed by her group. She made fake grief seeds to turn regular people into witches and eventually tells Kazumi the truth about the group as Kazumi has forgotten it. After becoming a witch herself the rest of the Pleiades Saints go in for the kill but it is Kazumi who takes Airi out. The current chapters are on a different magical girl named Ayase/Luca (two personalities here……) who goes around and collects soul gems.

When first reading the manga I had no idea who the random dude with the bomb suitcase was supposed to be. He is just a random character so don’t spend too much time worrying about him.

Photobucket

Kazumi continues to see the good in people even if they don't deserve it.

Much of the story revolves around Kazumi having no memories. This seems to work to the Pleiades Saints advantage though. She manages to remember how to battle but the important facts like what her wish was and that magical girls turn into witches fact have slipped Kazumi’s mind. And the rest of her teammates keep her in the dark until the facts smack her in the head.

Photobucket

Even with the skirt this outfit is questionable.

This series is the series of naked girls. Madoka’s crew were pretty covered and Oriko was pretty much overdressed for church. But now Kazumi has Band-Aids covering her boobies and a g-string covering her butt. Naked indeed.

Photobucket

And then she kept fighting. No murdering of her fellow comrades.

Kazumi is handling the whole lost my memories and now I fight evil thing well. Even when she was told about the magical girls=witches thing she hand her moment (well she almost turned into a fake witch) but then became the savior and is still trucking on. As a whole the girls in this series are stronger emotionally but Kazumi seems really strong despite the fact she is crying a lot.

Photobucket

:( It's always the pure and good ones that die first.

The “bad girl” for the first part of the manga was pretty relatable. Yuri was dead before the series even started but I think I would have liked her too. She had a very decent wish despite the fact it was used on someone else. Besides fighting witches she healed random people who were sick. This makes her the best person ever. It makes me wonder why the Pleiades Saints didn’t tell her the rule about not making her wish that powerful. Maybe she was a newer recruit and it was too late to save her? Who knows.

Photobucket

Good thing Kyubey was there to pick up the pieces.

But since Yuri is dead none of that matters. Airi is the one running around trying to kill people she views as murderers. Her wish was really…X__X special. I might have wished for something different if my main goal was to kill people, not heal and protect them. But it’s all good. Airi had a reason to do what she did. I don’t understand the point in erasing Kazumi’s memories and putting her in a suitcase though. If she was trying to hurt the Pleiades Saints wouldn’t it be better to kill Kazumi and not make her forget that they are evil bastards?

Photobucket

While Jubey seems less evil he is still apart of Kyubey's race. See the lying?

Since Kyubey is the one who contracted with Yuri and Airi I believe he wants the Pleiades Saints either gone or turned into something else. You know….the huge baddie at the end of the Madoka. It really depends on what timeline Kyubey is stuck in. But he seems to be the problem starter. Jubey doesn’t seem to seek out those who are in despair. Maybe a bit of good cop bad cop going on?

Photobucket

Way too many names to learn.

As for the rest of the girls they sorta blur in my mind. Kaoru and Umika seem to be the main friends with Kazumi but some of the others are like who what? Like Satomi? Are you important? Mirai did they finish drawing you? Nico has shined a little given that the new magical girl gone bad Ayase came to time but not in the prior chapters. See what happens when there are too many magical girls? It works well in animes/mangas like Sailor Moon as we are slowly introduced them over time but throw them all in together at once and I am like what?

Photobucket

There are so many dead magical girls out there...hasn't the news figured it out yet?

So that is about it for now. With a new girl(s) in town who likes to collect Soul Gems (they are pretty awesome) the Pleiades Saints have more problems to deal with. I am not sure how much longer this show is going to last but I bet Kazumi will be the one who finally loses her mind and causes the downfall of the entire group. WOOHOO for fun.

Puella Magi Oriko Magica manga review

XO I need some motivation to get my happy self off this couch. Of course the husband might be helping me with that issue as he watches some boring movies. XD But since I bore him all the time with the crazy sci-f0/horror movies I suppose him watching his shows is fair.

But anywhere is better than being at work. X__X I think I have lost three pounds due to the AC being broken at work. Gross yes? But I think the most frustrating part of this week are the customers who come in for 5 seconds to pick up their pizza and complain about how hot it is in the store. Really?! Is it REALLY cooler outside than inside our store? Then maybe you should not be complaining as soon you will be outside and I will still be stick inside.

Since I am in a lazy mood I will blog about Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica. Or more specifically the manga spin offs Puella Magi Kazumi Magica: The Innocent Malice and Puella Magi Oriko Magica. XD Because instead of catching up on other mangas that I am behind on I shall start new ones! Yay for priorities. Spoilers obviously for both mangas. Beware of pictures slowing down your computer. XD

I think I will start off with Puella Magi Oriko Magica first as it ties directly into Mahou Shoujo Madako Magica. At first the manga was a bit X__X. Who is this little kid, why is Kyoko acting nice, and who are those random girls on the side. But then you remember HAHA Homura has gone through 4893483 timelines and this is just another glance into her sad past.

I am just going to state that the manga is not as…pretty as I am used to. Yes I am a bit of a snob in that regards. Mami and Kyoko are so pretty in the anime that it is hard to see Kyoko with a mess of hair or Mami looking less crisp than usual.

So to me Yuma looks a little like a homeless girl who hasn’t washed her hair in days. Her eyes are huge and she just seems off. But even if she didn’t look creepy her character is still weird to me. Or rather her character makes Kyoko act weird.

Photobucket

Oh your abusive parents just died? Have some candy.

Kyoko was so standoffish in the anime (and perhaps multiple timelines as Sayaka remarks what a jerk she is). Granted she didn’t run up to Yuma and declare her adopted or anything. It just struck me as odd that Kyoko didn’t kick her to the curb and walk away from the little girl.

Photobucket

Why are we censoring this exactly?

However I think Yuma given her circumstances in life made a good wish. Every group needs a healer right (since this timeline gathers the girls into a group instead of fighting alone). I am not seeing things right? Kyoko did lose her limbs yes? The art at times (especially during the battle scenes) makes it hard to see what is going on. But Kyoko was all like there is no way I could have healed my wounds…..when she should have been like X___X my limbs are gone.

Photobucket

What a funny, funny joke Mami.

Mami in this version seems a little less sad and more in control of situations. I would think she would still be upset and lonely now that Homura is keeping Madoka away from her but meh. She has a new worry in life and does her best to fix situations. Not telling on why Kyoko arrives in town at all since Mami IS there to guard it but you know.

Photobucket

Her costume was pretty too. I wonder what determines what they get since they aren't all like Madoka. XD

I really like Oriko. I am not sure WHY she is granted a vision of the future as her wish was to better understand herself yes? To understand the meaning of her life. Of course that could mean that her real purpose in life was to STOP Madoka and Kyubey had no way of knowing that. Which would make the manga even better in my eyes. HMM I have to think about that now.

Photobucket

Oh hi I am here to slash your face off.

Kirika. I liked her character design and I liked her purpose in the manga. But I do not like her wish. Of course anything is better than wishing a dead kitten back to life (one could argue that Madoka probably created the least amount of grief with her wish though…). But the fact that Kirika didn’t even TRY to talk to Oriko before resorting to her extreme wish was weird and dumb.

While Oriko came up with her solution to the Madoka problem in an INSTANT I think it was a good plan. I mean..she did assume a lot. Maybe Madoka was just some random crazy who turned into a witch. But anyway her distracting Kyubey from the not so powerful Madoka in line with Homura protecting Madoka helped Mami from never meeting the girl and causing things to be nice and happy. By nice and happy I mean forcing Yuma into Kyubey's spotlight and killing other magical girls in the process.

Homura was not as jaded in this manga. That means this timeline is after her second attempt but not before “4” when she has basically given up on trying to communicate with the other girls and befriending Madoka. Still I am surprised at the extent she is hanging out with the other girls. Especially Hitomi. But maybe in this timeline she figured keeping Madoka away from the evil and distracting her was a good plan.

Photobucket

Next time make those eggs right!

The violence in the manga is pretty high considering the cuteness. XD We got girls being killed left and right. Once Oriko unleashes her plan on the school the body count started to climb. Life as Madoka knew it was going to change forever once her teacher got nommed. So while this was a “good” timeline considering what else Homura had to work with the body count was still high.

Photobucket

I am sensing that someone is being VERY ungrateful.

Oh Madoka? She was annoying. Homura is doing her best to protect HER and all she can do is whine? Even Mami (well I guess Madoka wasn’t aware of Mami…ever) the shining hope of compassion wasn’t saving everyone. In a situation like that it was not possible to save everyone. Madoka just learned that Homura had awesome powers and yet felt the need to tell her how to use them? I can see where Homura got jaded over time.

Photobucket

My what large....boobs you have.

Kirika stalling the witch process was amazing. Probably a sign of how devoted she was to Oriko. Again I think Oriko’s plan of making the other girls upset was a good one. And possibly a bad one if they all went despair on her and turned into witches. XD Always thinking ahead that girl. Despite Kirika killing all those magical girls Oriko really did have a great plan to protect the world.

Which is where Homura and Oriko differ. Homura wanted to protect her friend. You can’t fault her with her first wish. But after so many timelines of Madoka being the big bad evil one would think Homura might have changed her game plan. If Madoka knew she was going to be so evil and powerful she might have pulled a Mami on us and killed herself. Homura thought trying to reach the same goal over and over again would work while Oriko thought HEY let’s try it this way. In the end Homura was trying to protect one person and Oriko wanted to protect the most people.

Photobucket

I will protect the world no matter what!

I think the best part of the manga was the end. Homura was happy, people hated Kyubey, and Mami was alive. But Oriko was so determined to save people, to do something positive with her life she was able to achieve her goal and kill Madoka. I will overlook the fact that she held on for quite a bit given the fact Kyoko was out like a light when she got her soul jewel squished. So Oriko went out thinking that she and Kirika did the impossible and saved the world. YAY.

Photobucket

Madoka is very creative with the different ways she dies yes?

However….if Oriko had just left things alone this timeline MIGHT have saved Madoka. Homura was now trusted by Mami and Kyoko. They knew the truth about magical girls and witches without her being labeled a liar or a crazy person. Sayaka was not a magical loose cannon. And they now had a healer on their side. Now granted Homura threw the entire world’s navy at the Big Bad and it did nothing but in at least Homura’s eyes this timeline was going perfectly. Sure a couple dozen students were dead but hey Madoka was spared from making a contract and now the other girls would help her fight against Kyubey.

That is a lot of maybes though. After seeing what happened to the school Madoka might be compelled to be a magical girl to help out Homura. Sayaka could do the same thing. And even if Madoka was spared being a magical girl they probably still would have lost in the major battle. But at least Homura had hope.

Photobucket

I wish I had focused on killing Homura and Madoka....

In the end I think this “side” manga was really pretty cool. I wouldn’t even call it a side one either as it was really part of the main story as one of Homura’s alternate timelines. This brings up the question where Kirika and Oriko are in every other timeline though. Yuma not being there makes sense as Kyoko either did not save her or Kyubey was too busy tracking down Madoka he didn’t notice the girl. But Oriko’s wish was independent of what Homura was wishing and trying to change.

Of course that isn’t taking into consideration all the tiny things that add up. You know, the whole stepping on a butterfly turns us into whales type deal. So while I don’t SEE how Homura could change Oriko’s wish I guess it is possible in every single timeline after the fact Homura went and killed Oriko and Kirika. I guess. I GUESS.

X___X That got long. I guess I will talk about Puella Magi Kazumi Magica: The Innocent Malice in a different post. XD Go me! XD But yes the side mangas are pretty fun to real as the Madoka manga is mainly the anime with more violence. Thanks for reading!!!!

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica episodes 12: Of sparkles and ribbons

Well obviously I went to bed before blogging episode 12. I really think between the back to back episodes and reading discussions online my broken brain needed some sleep. Not that sleep protected me from overthinking. Dreaming about red eyes in the dark and random bombs in the water makes me think even while unconscious this episode has had an impact on me.

But having time to reflect personally on this episode and reading other people’s opinions will make this post better. Because if my Scream 4 post wasn’t enough proof my best thinking/typing is not done at 2 am. No it is better after working 10 hours straight with crazy insane people.

Photobucket

Homura is really not having the best life ever....

Spoilers for what I consider the best show of 2011. Maybe in December I will be singing a different show but for now A+ for Madoka.

Photobucket

I don't think you will be smiling for much longer my dear evil one.

Episode Summary: Madoka apologizes to Homura and says she will become a magical girl. Homura cries because she has lost her mind and now thinks it was all for nothing. Madoka acknowledges that perhaps she was a big useless crybaby up until this point because of Homura’s protection. But it’s okay folks, Madoka has a plan. Kyubey is like WOOHOO finally Madoka is going to be a magical girl, I don’t care how impossible the wish is! Madoka takes a deep breath and wishes to erase every single witch past present and future before they are born from existence. Kyubey gets worried because Madoka’s power level is over 9000 and at this rate who knows what will happen. Madoka doesn’t care what happens to her, she just wants to protect the girls who had pure wishes from becoming despair to those around them. Madoka demands that Kyubey fulfills her wish and everything goes white. There is a brief scene with Madoka talking to Mami and Kyoko, tips about how to be a magical girl. Over cake and tea like people aren’t DEAD or something.

Photobucket

Wait we are dead? Well it is still tea time so suck it.

Madoka morphs into her magical girl self and her weapon appears. She shoots off into the sky which breaks off into other arrows. She then travels across the world and time to stop the previous magical girls before they become witches. They smile as their souls are saved. Some disappear while others continue on in their lives believing in themselves. Madoka defeats the big witch but it is not revealed who it was. Homura is transported to what looks like the moon and is shown what is going to happen now because of the wish. Madoka’s soul gem is really a comet and she herself becomes a witch. But because of the wish Madoka is able to super morph and kill the witch. Madoka appears to die and is erased from history. She instead becomes a force that is always combating the witches before they take over.

Photobucket

Apparently soul gem and MASSIVE COMET OF PURE CONCENTRATED EVIL/GRIEF are the same word to Kyubey.

Naked sparkly blob Homura is NOT happy with this turn of events but naked sparkly blob Madoka comforts her and tells her all will be okay. Madoka also says she understands all the past universes Homura created and how Homura did her best to save her. She thanks her for the valiant effort. Madoka promises to be with Homura ever in her new nonexistent form and not to cry. Homura of course cries as Madoka gives Homura her hair ribbons and says HEY maybe a miracle will occur and we can meet again one day. Madoka breaks off into sparkles and Homura is returned to the real world. Madoka goes to rescue Sayaka. It is unclear why but Kamijo’s future will change if Madoka saves Sayaka’s soul and Madoka is sorry for that. Sayaka says it is okay and is glad he could play again. Kamijo seems to be more successful in this timeline and shows some remembrance of Sayaka. This new reset universe has started in the middle of timeline three, with Sayaka dying. Only this time she is not a witch but simply disappears as that is what happens to Magical Girls once they use all their energy. Mami and Kyoko are very upset that Sayaka is gone but accept that as their fate in life. Homura starts crying over Madoka and Kyoko and Mami are…who is that? A time later Homura is walking through a park and sees Madoka’s family. The younger brother says the name Madoka a million times but no one knows who she is. Madoka’s mom is happy when she hears the name Madoka but doesn’t know who that person is.

Photobucket

That might be the understatement of the century my friend...

Later Kyubey is like…..oh so let me get this straight. I used to be an evil villain and you girls would turn into witches instead of hunting demons? That is crazy talk! But Kyubey says that would have been an easier way of collecting energy, instead of this demon hunting that manifests from the evil in everyone’s hearts. Homura decides it is not worth trying to convince Kyubey and jumps to the ground to defeat the demons. After the credits Homura is still fighting demons but with a Madoka like weapon. During the battle wings appear on her back and things get all sparkly like they did in the “oh do we still exist” plane. Madoka is heard cheering on Homura and Homura smiles as she fights the demons. THE END!! X__X

Longest summary ever, I suck. Seriously do I have to write anything else since I said everything already?

But holy crap folks. This series has ended and I still don’t know how I feel inside. I do feel as if the ending was pretty amazing but after waiting so long for this episode I am sure that has put rose colored glasses over my eyes. And from what I have had read over the internets people either LOVE this ending or hate it. But since I have not seen Neon Genesis Evangelion I am on team MOG GREAT.

Photobucket

I am going to be like Homura and make my wish endless so screw you Kyubey!

While we don’t know Madoka’s previous wishes were this one….was pretty awesome. In the face of no hope Madoka found a way to make a really, really bad situation just….semi bad. Now do I think she spent the entire series thinking this wish up? No I don’t. And she also got lucky in the fact that Homura “gave” her that much power to allow that wish to be granted. That is truly where Homura’s hard work paid off.

Photobucket

All Madoka ever wanted was to make people happy and now she gets her ultimate wish. To protect the wishes of every girl before and after her.

And that was really the whole point of this show. To put Madoka through so much that she would have to make a wish that would stop the cycle of pain. Some may say that is predictable but for me seeing it play out was the real fun. Because it would have been too easy to wish Mami back. Or to wish Sayaka back. Or to go back in time like Homura to stop it. Because then it would keep on happening. No we had to see Madoka experience all sides of the misery of being a magical girl and then still become a magical girl to save them all. Because Madoka had hope that magical girls were still a positive thing to be.

Photobucket

You are still toast but now you can die knowing your wish did not bring about a witch that would one day kill countless people! SMILES FOR ALL!!!

But I am not calling this a happy ending folks. Because in a series where the main character gets munched in episode 3 I don’t see a happy ending in sight. Instead this was the best possible outcome. Despite Madoka having that much power she still couldn’t stop all the evil in the world. The matter of Kyubey needing to collect energy so the entire universe doesn’t die had to happen. That is a given. If Madoka eliminated all the evil in the world it would probably erase all the good. So instead she gave magical girls peace of mind. You are still in danger of dying but instead of becoming a destructive force you instead just….disappear. The witches are replaced by demons and the girls don’t have to live in fear that one wrong move will turn them into a witch themselves.

Now what are the demons? I have seen several theories on the internet. One is that the demons are Madoka’s releases of grief. She had to take in all the emotions of the girls before they die and that negative energy had to turn into something. But since Madoka herself smooshed the culmination of that grief (witch Madoka) I am not sure about that. Another theory is the demons are the evils from every day people, all of us across the world and that the magical girls must destroy them before things get out of hand. I like that theory as evil takes a hold of everyone at one point and that the blame shouldn’t be only on the girls TRYING to save the world.

In any event Madoka made the perfect wish. I do think Homura telling Madoka about the possible futures that would happen if Madoka became a magical girl helped shape this wish. Again Madoka didn’t know she was too magical for her own good but I do think Homura finally being honest with Madoka stopped the cycle of pain. That and Madoka crying about everything being so cruel finally makes sense as she now wants to save EVERYONE and not just Homura.

Tenchi approves of the new, older ass kicking Madoka.

Because of Madoka’s wish she is able to kick her own ass when she becomes a witch. I am sure that is much like going back in time and changing the future so time travel DOES exist but I am going to roll with it. Plus Madoka was so pretty I tend to forget about those tiny details.

Translation: Thanks for making me a huge baby for the entire series.

I also like that Madoka acknowledges what fans have been saying for a while. The Madoka from episodes 1-11 was not the person Homura was really trying to save. But the Madoka post wish was. She was the strong girl that was trying to save the world and knew all that Homura had done to save her. So thank you Madoka for accepting that you spent most of your time crying and being hysterical and that is because Homura protected your butt for so long.

Don't cry Homura. I am just an entity that can never touch or talk to you ever again. HAPPY ENDINGS FOR ALL!

I am not sure why Homura didn’t have a mental breakdown. She spent who knows how many months, years trying to save Madoka and Madoka wishes herself into nothing (or everything depending on your perspective). All she wanted was Madoka happy and alive with her little family and instead Madoka got an eternity of battling would be witches and no one would know it. Now Homura was never meant to save Madoka. Madoka just didn’t want to become a witch. She wanted to stop the pain. Homura was meant to make Madoka have no regrets and she fulfilled that role. Just Homura should have lost her damn mind somewhere along the way.

Now in regards to Sayaka saying goodbye to Kamijo….yeah I don’t know folks. I don’t know WHY his future would change. It appears that Sayaka made the same wish, to fix his arm. So why he goes from auditioning to being famous and how this undoes all of Sayaka’s hard work makes no sense to me at all. If anyone has information on this please let me know.

And Sayaka was never happy the end!

But Madoka and Sayaka saying goodbye to each other was touching. It appears that Sayaka was an unstable girl no matter what and she was fated to die. Which is funny as Mami splats each universe but oh Sayaka is the real crazy one. But Sayaka not becoming a witch made her happy so that is all that matters.

A little clarification on what would make a girl disappear would be nice.

It appears in this new universe the girls are told the rules before the contract is made. ALL THE RULES! Because there was no tears or gnashing of teeth when Sayaka died. Just WHY NOW?!?!?! Mami accepted it and didn’t go on a mass killing spree. Now I would like more information on why the girls disappear instead of just living on. Sayaka doesn’t count as she is insane and maybe the same rules apply in regards to being a ZOMBIE. Mami says something about being led astray but what appears to have happen is Sayaka ran out of energy. So which is it?

Photobucket

See! She is still alive and not....disappeared. So I think there is hope for all magical girls.

To me I hope it is just Sayaka being the depressed child she is and that Homura, Kyoko, and Mami will live on for quite a while because they don’t think they are unworthy. That the girls who “disappeared” in the past did so because they died in battle due to lack of energy and not because of something else. We saw other girls living on after their soul gems were cleared of darkness so hopefully that is the case. And I have now confused myself so moving on.

This might be funny if it wasn't so damn SAD!!!!

Homura talking to Madoka’s family was just twisting the knife in an opened wound. I don’t know what that did except show that Homura really is the most unfortunate person ever.

Photobucket

So in a universe where you are not evil you still wish to be evil. I see.

But the scene with Kyubey was excellent. In this new universe he is not the evil mascot but…..in the middle. He is more honest with the girls but when presented with information on the previous world he agrees that killing people would be a better way to gather energy. I am not sure how I feel about Homura being so close to Kyubey as she does know the truth. I rather her just not try to actively kill him. But I like that even in a changed universe Kyubey still is a devil inside.

While some people think that Homura was fighting in a post-apocalyptic world I do not. I think that demons have a different plane of existence just as the witches and that is where Homura went for her final scene. Not everyone died because hello that would really screw Madoka’s wish up yes?

Photobucket

It's not about the glittery wings or the action. It was always about Homura and Madoka.

Even though I think Homura is the most unfortunate girl ever I do like that she got somewhat of a moment when she and Madoka connected in battle. Homura fought for so long and will have to continuing fighting…forever. But knowing that Madoka is always with her and is HAPPY to be with her in this way might put Homura’s mind at ease. Or at least not make her any more crazy.

Photobucket

No. She just wants you to stop being one.

Now do I think this show was perfect? Of course not. That would be a dumb thing to say. Looking back on everything in life something, one tiny factor could have been changed and made better. And a lot of that is on personal perception. For me the main issue I have are the continuing appearance(s) of Kyoko and what Madoka’s wishes were each time.

Of course that might not be a big deal to anyone else but I do want to know what started this entire crazy series. She and Mami were not aware of the true nature of magical girls so obviously it was something happier than STOP THE WITCHES!!!! Perhaps it was as simple as Mami saved her life and did the whole I don’t want to be alone speech. But I still want to know how the wishes changed in each timeline. I think that would have built up to the ultimate wish of saving the universe if we saw how each wish got more and more serious.

Photobucket

Translation: LOVE ME INSTEAD!!!!

Kyoko’s appearances in each timeline bothers me for no reason I think. I am so stuck on the timeline we saw for 11 episodes I can’t accept the other possibilities that were shown in episode 10 and at the end of episode 12. Kyoko came to town because Mami died and she wanted to take over this city. Since that was the reason given this time around I don’t understand how she came to town all the other versions where Mami was making it through to the final boss. Perhaps there was a different catalyst bringing her to town but I wish I could have seen it.

However I still think this show was brilliant. Yes at times the witch world was a bit X__X on my eyes but this really changed the view of magical girls. No not everything is cupcakes and rainbows. Some people think that Madoka making it about love and hope at the end makes it a cliché. However if it ended in total gloom and doom then what was really the point? Instead if ended bittersweet. The girls still will die but won’t become the witches they fought against. Madoka changed the rules but didn’t have complete power to rewrite everything sad out of existence. And Homura puts on a brave smile but deep down she is still a sad girl without her best friend.

Insert the new catch phrase "Madoka died for our sins on Good Friday" comment here.

Since my post is like a million words long I will end it here. This show brought a lot of enjoyment to my life and now that it is over I am not sure what to do. Hopefully this show goes down as one the best of 2011 as I think it deserves it. A show about magical powers ending in a realistic Well sometimes life is unfair but not hopeless kind of message.

But Kyubey is still evil ya’ll. Maybe Madoka should have wishes his race emotions so they wouldn’t be douchebags and put them through this in the first place.
