Drug and Drop Chapter 1: For real this time!

SO TIRED! I am about ready to fall asleep on this couch folks. So I will consume amazing amounts of sugar and stay up all night! Woohoo! But for real I am tired and unable to process much. Not up for blogging anime that requires much reading and writing. Not too much math though…

But even though I am dead tired…I am rolling in money. Let me build a tower and swim in my riches. Which is amazing considering how much I got yelled at today. This is late, MOG HURRY UP, and general glares in my direction. Yet almost all the deliveries were to places that had checks written out and HAHA they couldn’t change them despite the fact my store sucks at getting places on time. So while normally I would be complaining about how tough my day is….my lovely full wallet makes me smile. HAHAHA! Merry Christmas to abused pizza delivery drivers.

CLAMP does not have yaoi tendencies at all.....no never......

Since I has the lazies I will blog a manga chapter instead. That sounds bad doesn’t it? XD Not that I don’t love blogging manga. Just when one is blogging SHORT CLAMP manga chapters it tends to go by a lot faster. That and I am already behind on Drug and Drop. XO Forgive me!


A bit of side note. This is actually the first Drug and Drop chapter despite it being the second one in regards to new material. Since CLAMP has a special way of numbering…everything one does not usually know what chapter they are reading until the next one comes out. I am looking at you Kobato Drops a-u! So let’s call the first “chapter” a bit of a catch-up. This is actually chapter 1. Sorry if I confused anyone by passing on the confusion.

Also a brief shout-out to the CLAMP team. One of them has had some health problems lately, directly related to drawing manga. X__X I tell you this is a dangerous occupation! Hopefully that member is able to take it easy despite how…impossible that might be. Le sigh. I love Japan but sometimes they make me give a little side-eye due to how they treat their workers. In any event…get well soon!

People almost getting hurt is so cute!!!!!!

The official chapter one starts off with a little yaoi fangirling. Okay maybe that was just on my side. Kazahaya falls on Rikuo and some girls in the store take the opportunity to snap some pictures. While it might seem straight out of a convention Will Yaoi for Money it is really the girls thinking Rikou is hot. Poor Kazahaya. Okay maybe they thought Kazahaya was cute too. They did mention the large eyes.

Twitter? What happened to Myspace? Isn't this 2003?!

Things get a little weird when the girls start talking about how they are going to upload the pictures to Twitter and Facebook and what not. This is weird for two reasons. Because it just sounds so…weird. Like the first edition of the Sailor Moon mangas when they added American references. Not that Twitter is an American thing. It just sounds forced and out of place. The second reason being the obvious. The girls are creepy. Stalkers.

The words thank you are hard.

Kakei manages to get the girls to delete the photos without sounding too bossy. Well Rikou and Kazahaya see how manipulative Kakei is but to the girls he seems so COOL. Ah teenage girls. They are easily swayed.

They aren't finding you very well....

It turns out that Kakei was protecting Kazahaya. Kazahaya is after all on the run. People might have forgotten that with the way CLAMP has glossed over an entire year in their 7 year hiatus. But this is still a very real situation for Kazahaya. He might seem like a hyperactive crazy child but he did run away for a reason. Now logically speaking….there should have been more scares like OH NO what if they find me?! Or that they should have found him by now. But not everyone has a Kakei so maybe that is why Kazahaya is still safe.

Kakei decides that according to CLAMP law it is crossover time! So the next job that he has lined up for the boys is to deal directly with the shop that he deals with. Why look folks! It is the shop that grants wishes. And who is to come out but Watanuki! I AM SHOCKED!

Wait are you still waiting for answers in regards to Tsubasa? HAHAHAHAH!

This might be spoilery for XXXholic but…XD sorry. In the first 3 volumes Kakei was working with Yuuko. We saw what she needed the items for so it is clear she was still….”alive” during that time frame. In this reality one year has passed since that time. So either Yuuko has just died or at the most Watanuki has been the shop owner for only a year. To me this matters as Watanuki seems to be VERY confident with his abilities when really he was seen being all mopey for Yuuko.

Of course this is super important because now we can have a better timeline for Blood-C right?! Because Blood-C is the most important CLAMP crossover ever right?!...Yeah I didn’t think so.

You might want to hug him while you can.

So what does Watanuki want? Obviously he cannot leave the shop so he needs help getting the items. Kazahaya was super cute thinking how lonely Watanuki is. Obviously he hasn’t read the last chapter in XXXholic or he would know how lonely that kid is. But it is job time now folks! What horrible things will happen to our boys now? And is it a bit unfair that Watanuki is putting Kazahaya and Rikou in the same position he was in just less than a year ago? XD

Drug and Drop chapter 1!

XO The time has come folks! The day that like 10 people were waiting for. CLAMP has finally started up the long on hiatus manga Legal Drug. AND THE CROWD GOES WILD!

Only now it is called Drug and Drop….

CLAMP is bringing sexy back!

WOOHOO! The crowd goes wild for Drug and Drop!


CLAMP has done fans wrong in recent years. I could almost handle the X__X ending of Tsubasa because answers were coming in XXXholics. But then XXXholic came and went, probably with one of the worst ending ever for the group. Nothing was explained and the ending left a bad taste in most fan’s mouths. While Kobato was ended in an actual way that made sense it seemed rushed. Kobato ended so fast so CLAMP could get to their new work Gate 7. And we all know how that turned out…

To be fair to CLAMP it seems as if Gate 7 can only be appreciated by people who have extensive knowledge of Japanese history. Meaning Japanese people probably love this series while many foreigners are like um what is this? Someone on the web compared it to having American heroes coming together in one series, like George Washington, Abe Lincoln, and Amelia Earhart. To me this makes sense. Yet I still find Gate 7 way too wordy and slow on the plot.

How I missed those cute little faces!

So with all this RARW CLAMP fans needed some good news. And trust me it did not come in the form of Blood-C. If anything that might have driven more fans away. No no there was hope on the horizon. CLAMP for whatever reason decided to pick up Legal Drug once again. And the first chapter came out this month! Let us review this long awaited miracle.

Now it is a bit sad that there were only about 17 pages for this new first chapter. But beggars cannot be choosers right? But I will put that aside for the fact that Drop and Drug has picked up where Legal Drug volume 3 left off. Meaning the same characters in the same situations are gracing the pages! We are not getting a restart and the art is ALMOST the same as it was before. There was no dramatic X/1999 art going on. You know what I am talking about right? One second Kamui was looking like he could hold his own in the square shoulders competition and next thing you know he is the cute little boy everyone needs to save.

Too much...sparkles....

The only real difference I can see is the backgrounds are less busy than they were before and Kakei seems to have gotten a bad case of the sparkles. As one of my commentators pointed out Kazahaya better watch out! He might be out cutied!

Always looking on the bright side of life!

The chapter starts off reminding the viewers of key points that happened in the past three volumes yet did so in a way that people picking up the manga for the first time were not lost. Kazahaya is having a lovely moment with his sister that quickly turns creepy. Of course 7 years ago I found Kazahaya’s sister really, really bizarre but now after witnessing real crazy (AKA Yuno) I am just thinking she has the sads. And maybe the adults in the situation are really to blame. Either way I see her more as tragic. Obviously Kazahaya had a good reason for leaving her but I am sure she is depressed and sad.

Not a really awesome dream there...

But Kazahaya’s dream turns into Rikuo’s dream. Meaning Kazahaya sees the “dead” Tsukiko. Now we don’t know if she is really dead or not but usually when there is a room splattered in blood I lean towards the dead side. Before Kazahaya can learn anything Rikuo wakes him up in the usually Rikuo fashion.

Things at the store seem to be the same. Kakei and his super hot self is still telling the boys to get to work on time or else. Kakei does sense some sadness in Kazahaya but Saiga breaks up that tension pretty fast. Same old same old for them.

So much concern on that little face!

What is interesting and new about this chapter is Kazahaya. He has never been a mean person per say. It is usually Rikuo making him act all spazzy. But in this chapter he seemed genuinely concerned for Rikuo. Like actively thinking about poor Rikuo and his problems. To an extent I am wondering if this really was Kazahaya. X__X Like when did he even learn that Saiga was looking for Tsukiko? I just reread the mangas yesterday and I don’t recall Saiga or anyone telling Kazahaya that.

In any case instead of subtle yaoi tension like the first three volumes this new chapter has it front and center. Which is fine by me. It would be nice for Watanuki..I mean Kazahaya to have a happy ending. So while this is a bit of a character change for Kazahaya I think I like it. Wish it happened over time but apparently only ONE YEAR has passed since the last volume. I guess we got to roll with it.

While there were some tiny moments in XXXHolic that featured our boys I am not sure if I want to see any XXXholic moments in Drug and Drop. I want to move on to new (well old) couples having problems and working through weird moments. Saiga is the first Yuko, lets see how things play out.

Yay for a good first chapter. Please keep up the good work CLAMP. Don’t make me regret this 12756th change I am giving you!

CLAMP's Legal Drug resumes serialization! We have not been forgotten!!!

Breaking News: Tenchi needs to keep with Anime News Network because obviously I miss very important things when I don’t. I has been busy lately yes but during times when DayQuil wasn’t taking over my brain I should have been catching up with that informative site.

Breaking News for people who are not up to date on Anime News Network: CLAMP is going to start Legal Drug back up again.

And the crowd goes wild!!!!!!

INSERT THE REJOICING HERE!!!!


Back in 2003 when our mall (or the country?) had a SunCoast and Borders was just starting to get a manga section CLAMP stopped Legal Drug. There had been other issues concerning their other long on hiatus story X/1999 and Legal Drug became an innocent bystander in all the mess. With the soaring popularity of Tsubasa and XXXholic CLAMP kept putting Legal Drug on the back burner but always promising to return to the series.

Since we have heard that line before I didn’t really believe them. I just tucked my sad little three volumes of Legal Drug on the shelf and moved on. Because there were things to move on to and that made me happy. But now with Tsubasa, XXXholic, and Kobato over with the only ongoing series is Gate 7.

And Gate 7 sucks folks.

Did you miss us?

So the minute I post about WOE IS ME I hate Gate 7 a happy little commenter pointed the way to news that Legal Drug has been revived. Insert a happy dancing Tenchi who thinks this is an answer from the CLAMP gods. Maybe Gate 7 is just a huge troll attempt by CLAMP to cover up their plans to make us happy?

Oh and for those who don’t know this is what Legal Drug is all about:

When Kazahaya Kudo collapsed in the snow one night and on the verge of death, he is rescued by a mysterious young man, Rikuo Himura, who takes him back to a pharmacy named the Green Drugstore.

Kazahaya, apparently running from his past, takes up work at the Green Drugstore alongside Rikuo. He comments that although Rikuo rescued him, he really feels indebted to the store's owner, Kakei, whom he thanks for his current accommodation and job. While their day job is quite simple, the boys are persuaded and, in some cases, practically forced by Kakei to take on strange extra jobs outside the store, which make use of their supernatural powers.

For those who think this sounds slightly like XXXholic…it sorta does. Only this series came first and Kakei….isn’t as powerful as Yuuko. And Kazahaya is cute whereas Watanuki was more…well handsome pretty. And no body parts have been exchanged YET but since it is only ¼ of the way through there is still time.

Did someone say yaoi?

And unlike XXXHolic there is already an established yaoi pairing. While it is obvious Kazahaya and Rikuo are hot for each other they do have issues with some past women. No no I am talking about Kakei and Saiga. Confirmed folks. CONFIRMED. And the entire school in volume 3 is full of gay young boys. The yaoi is strong with this one.

Now there have been conflicted reports on what exactly this news mean. Some reports are saying NEW SERIES and others are saying continuation! I would prefer it be a continuation with the first three volumes rereleased. Yes that means the art work will look slightly different as their styles surely have changed over 8 years. But I rather have that change than an entirely new series.

But since this is brand new information maybe this will be cleared up before November. XD So exciting folks. A story that is only slightly confusing and readable! And for the record yes I want X/1999 back as well. But given the fact there was a MAJOR Earthquake this year that is probably a pipedream now.

So in conclusion. Yay me. And yay other CLAMP fans. Hopefully CLAMP does not let us down again. I have strong hopes that Legal Drug will be awesome but that might be me thinking all these years what could have been. So all those little glimpses of the boys in other works weren’t just teasers. XD We are finally getting our way.
