Fall Anime Line-up 2013: Tenchi's Picks!

Hello there my lovely readers!!!! It is I the super late one! I mean....if you look on my list half the things I might watch have already had one episode air. XD Needless to say this week has been one suck after another and now...at the 13th hour I have my list. Better late than never? Sunday will probably be a super busy day for me.

I can't tell if that hat is awesome or scary.
As with every season we anime lovers are bombarded with tons of new shows, new seasons of old shows, and other things to entertain us. This season I have no carry over shows. That means it is time to fill...well my time with new things. What shall I pick?! Click to find out.

The Yes

That seems a little dramatic....
Little Busters!: Refrain

Synopsis: Second season of the show Little Busters. Semi sickly Riki runs around and solves people's problems despite how magical the situation seems. Promises to be a darker show despite some of the arcs being pretty X___X last time.

Thoughts: Out of all the shows on my list this is probably the one I will definitely blog no matter what. I really liked the first season even though many things were left unexplained. I was promised some answers this time around so I shall see what happens. Apparently I need some tissues for some of the arcs? Oh snap! Number of

Episodes: Unknown, probably 24-25

Air Date: October 5th

The Maybes

PSHT! I am actually a boat!
Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio: Ars Nova

Synopsis: Due to global warming and rising sea levels of the early 21st century, humanity lost much of the Earth's landmass. At the same time, fleets of powerful sentient ships of unknown origin armed with advanced technology and weapons, known collectively as the "Fleet of Fog", mysteriously appeared and easily vanquished the world's naval forces. The Fleet of Fog impose a worldwide naval and aerial blockade, and thus preventing humanity from traveling across the seas.

In the year 2039, 17 years after the blockade, Gunzō Chihaya is a former student of the Japanese National Marine Academy and Captain of his crew, the Blue Steel fleet. The Blue Steel are infamous for possessing the only Fog submarine to have defected to the human side, the I-401 along its avatar Iona. Gunzō and his crew are hired by a faction of the Japanese government to deliver plans of a powerful weapon that may allow mankind to fight back against the Fleet of Fog to the United States, the only country that did not suffer from the blockade, thus capable of mass-producing it. However, the Blue Steel fleet faces obstacles not only from the Fleet of Fog and their human allies, but from other factions of the government with their own agenda, while gaining allies from both sides to increase their chances against such overwhelming odds.

Thoughts: I thought there were aliens in the ship. Maybe there are. But it turns out that cute girl is just a ship interface. How do I feel about this? A bunch of transforms but only in boat form floating around and blasting people? HMMM I guess I could give it a go. I had stronger opinions when I thought the girls were aliens. But I guess if I can understand Transformers this might be easy to watch too? XD Maybe they were on Earth the entire time?

Number of Episodes: 12

Air Date: October 8th

 photo Machine-DollwaKizutsukani_zps70e6d173.jpg
Robots have feelings too?
Machine-Doll wa Kizutsukanai

Synopsis: During the early 20th century, along with technological advancements, scientists were able to develop sophisticated magic. The combination of science and sorcery was Makinot, circuits made from spells that were put into objects to bring them to life and even gain a personality. It was developed as a military weapon and has now spread throughout the world. Akabane Raishin is now attending the Royal Academy to become the best in the world. Accompanied by the lovely teenage girl Yaya, who is actually Raishin’s puppet weapon, he plans on rocketing to the top of the class. However, his test scores come nearly dead last although his combat skills and determination are second to none. Raishin has to compete with the deadliest of classmates if he wants to come out as the king.

Thoughts: Ecchi? HMMM should I save myself the time and bail out now? I see this premiered rather early. I might have a busy Sunday on my hands. On one hand this reminds me a bit of Angelic Layer. A little bit. A tiny bit anyway. Crazy kids in the future, running around with magic robots with personalities! So this won't end as bitter sweetly as Chobits. Will it cross an ethical line? Maybe it is not important on how you come into this world, just what you do with your life. Just that if the military is using this kind of technology why do kids have it? X___X

Number of Episodes: 12

Air Date: September 15th

Where are the tails?!

Nagi no Asukara

Synopsis: Long ago, humanity lived in the sea. But the humans who longed for the land left the sea behind. They cast aside the special raiment they'd been given by the sea god that let them live in the ocean. The thinking of the sea humans and the land humans became as separate as the places they lived, and as countless time passed, they forgot they were once one people. This will change as the land-dwelling human Tsumugu Kihara befriends four girls who live in a village at the bottom of the sea.

Thoughts: Mermaids that are not mermaids?!! I want to see how this humans living under water works. Why has everything started to air already? Didn't they know this was my hell week? But back on track this seems interesting. I hope there are more boys because you know....hate for 3 of the girls to end up sad. Are the two races aware of each other, they just live separate lives? Interesting interesting. A slice of life...underwater? Showing how the other side lives? Also the art looks really pretty and you know me. XD

Number of Episodes: 26

Air Date: October 3rd

 photo DiabolikLovers_zpsb6459ac5.jpg
Um don't pick the baby? XD

Diabolik Lovers

Synopsis:The heroine, Komori Yui, has always been an ordinary high school student - excluding the fact that as a child, strange, supernatural things happened to her. However, she has always been able to maintain a positive outlook on life. In her second year of high school, Yui's father, a priest, moves somewhere else due to work. Yui is forced by these events to move to a new town and a night school for the wealthy and famous. Furthermore, the house she must stay in is called "the haunted house" by everyone else, and Yui is suddenly living with six brothers who aren't exactly human..

Thoughts: Having...flashbacks....horrible flashbacks. A combination of two shows that might have plagued my mind long after they went off the air. At least the main character knows her middle name and KNOWS that characters are vampires right off that bat. We are already ahead of the game with that info. But brothers? All of them? And one of them looks like a tiny little child. Interview with a Vampire anyway? I will give it a whirl because I like hot guys and clearly this show is aimed at women where many others are aimed towards men. Almost like I have to watch it. Yet there shall be no shipping of left over characters as they are related. Sadness is my soul.

 Number of Episodes: 12

 Air Date: September 16th

The Nos
 photo Coppelion_zps3ba88f5c.jpg
I was going to give it a go.....

Coppelion Synopsis:

In 2016, a meltdown of a nuclear power plant creates a big catastrophe in Tokyo. 20 years later, the city has become a ghost town due to the high levels of radiation. From that area a distress signal is received. The Self Defense forces dispatch three girls from the special unit Coppelion to search for survivors. But why aren't they wearing any protection against radiation?

Thoughts: I was going to put this on the maybe list until I watched the PV. The art...just didn't do it for me. Looked like Grind House the anime. Not interested.

 photo LogHorizon_zps56910b54.jpg
I am thinking....no.
Log Horizon

Synopsis: The story begins when 30,000 Japanese gamers are trapped in the fantasy online game world Elder Tale. What was once a sword-and-sorcery world is now the real world. The main lead Shiroe attempts to survive with his old friend Naotsugu and the beautiful assassin Akatsuki.

Thoughts: So basically...Sword Art Online without the pretty art and threat of death? Apparently your real life skills matter in this game? The main character looked utterly boring. Just....no. I gave a few computer games back to back tries last year. This seems too similar to separate the two and this doesn't look like the better of said two. Pass.

Hello @Christina

Interesting choice you got there.

Is it me, or is Diabolik Lovers just Vampire Knight 2.0. One girl surrounded by hot vampire guys. I haven't seen it personally, but that's the impression I'm getting.

Did you watch all the season 2013's previews or just the ones you were interested?

End comments.

I didn't know you like Litte Busters! that much. I was honestly struggling in order to finish it last time. It has too many ass-pull and magical moments. Someone spoiled the ending for me so it's kind of reasonable why there are those magical moments, but still...

Diabolik Lovers is just another otome games adaptation. One lone ordinary girl being surrounded by a lot of hot guys who get touchy feely with her all the time, and really want to bang her. You could say that they are the gender reversed version of Highschool DxD, Infinite Stratos, etc. Are you sure you want to watch such show? Well.. the decision is yours.

About Diabolik Lovers, 1st 3mins into the show and I am already bored. No, seriously, don't wast your life time for this. :(

Also, if you watch ep1, you will know the boys are brothers w/ eachother ONLY. So when she comes in it is like ‘yummy, our relative delivered us lunch!'.

According to Hinano, who I couldn't put a better way of saying this:

>I’ve reviewed the game on my blog about a year ago.

From an otome gamer pov, I only enjoyed it for the dummy head parts with the voice actors rather than all the gross shit that they did. The triplets are the worst (+BDSM tea douche Reiji) and only Shu and Subaru ever really loved the heroine (though she still had to put up with their shit.) They all have psychological issues, mostly with their moms so you can guess how that’s gonna turn out. <

So, hope you are prepared when you watch this.

Just a warning about Diablok Lovers, Tenchi. I've seen reviews of it, and it strongly involves abuse, harassment, and hints of rape toward the female lead. There are some who nickname the game it came from "Diabolik Wifebeaters" because of its screwed up content. Thus, if you plan to Watch it, do so with caution/alcohol.

I'm actually suprised that Kanata no Kyokai isn't on here. I saw the first episode, and it really looks good. It has funny moments, good characters, and not much moe! I'm not saying it's perfect, but I'd recommend it.

Anonymous- Diabolik Lovers does look like Vampire Knights. With even less girls!

I watched all the ones I listed, even the ones that got nos. I read up on most of the ones offered this year and read the synopsis. If that passed the interesting test I decided to watch the PV.

Eternia- No spoilers but yeah I kinda want to know the secret of the world! Why Kyousuke has been pulling all the strings. Why only Riki can save these girls (friends) when other people have a better idea of what is going on.

Diabolik Lovers looks....well special. Especially that little one, creepy. I wish there were more shows geared towards females that didn't have such...domineering characteristics. Like can't we have a selection of guys that aren't running around putting girls in cages for love?!

Anonymous 2- Shu and Subaru are the only ones that LOVED Yui? As in she dies in some arcs? I can see that happening but still usually the "main" guy (Ayato) is the one really in love with the girl.

Interesting. Triplets? X__X

Whoever sent Yui here (her "dad") is a douche and he probably should die if he hasn't already.

Julia- I do remember reading about Kanata no Kyoukai when I was going through the animes the first time I looked at the list. Then the second time around I was like hmmmm maybe. But I suppose if Diabolik Lovers don't work out (which at this point will probably not because no one has said a positive thing about it) I can always back track with this show. Maybe I thought Kanata no Kyoukai was going to be a let down like A Sunday without God. Thinking it is going to be one thing but it really turns out to be another and it never works.

Do females in Japan really not like anime that much? It just seems so strange there are hardly any shows to cater strictly to a female audience. When one does come around...where is the actual romance? Guys can be flawed but bitch, slut, rape? Um no. I hope Yui kills a few of these assholes. This makes Beast from Beauty and the Beast the best boyfriend ever and Edward the most impressive sparkle boyfriend....
